Change data source on exisiting report - how?

Hello! I have an existing report that I want to use with a different company, so I need to change the datasource but have absolutely NO IDEA how. I'm searching and searching for answers here and on the internet. I have no IT support and no programming experience. I am the accountant.
I found something where you expand the properties in the datasource window and just edit, but I don't know how to find the name of the database I want to use.
Please help or point me in the right direction. Thank you.

you said report... which report ?
If its crystal report follow below steps:
1) open the crystal report goto-> database - >setdatasourse location
2) click on --> Create a Newconnection under Replace with window
3) select your dataconnection from the list.
4) then update the tables or procedures.
5) Save the report in repository

Unable to change data source of any report

Hello there,
I am using the Crystal Reports Eclipse plugin. I added a datasource to Eclipse 3.3 which connects to a Oracle database using JDBC.
Now I want to change the data source of a report. I get a popup window which displays the old data source with all tables and columns on the left side. On the right side of the window I see the name of the new data source at the top, but a list of "remove" options below it with a red cross in front (see screenshot).
It does not matter if I want to change an existing report or a new report.
I can create a new report with a datasource, but even when I want to change to the same datasource as already assigned to the report, I get the problem described above.
I already followed some tips found in this forum, e.g. expanding all used tables in the data source explorer etc., but this did not help.
I know that there was also a possibility to remove the "data source" information completely from the query (as mentioned at http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/KanisaSupportSite/search.do;jsessionid=2F140BDBA03E8E97EEF1E15F84964F12?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=c2017570&sliceId=&dialogID=13402443&stateId=1%200%2013406567), but I cannot find this option in Crystal reports for Eclipse. I see a field "qualified name" in the properties of each table of my report, but this field is read-only...

Doesn't anyone have an answer to this problem? I would just like to change the datasource of a report. But I am not able to do so, because the only option I have in the dialog is to remove all tables.

Error ora-24338 happened when change data source on crystal report

Hi Guys:
I made a report on my test envariment (this report involve stored procedure and it return a ref cursor from oracle database to the report). after i test it, i decided to move this report to the production database. However when i updated the database location, it shows me the following error:
database connector error: 'ORA-24338': statement handle not executed [database wender code: 24338]
then it shows:
some tables could not be replaced, as no match was found in the new data source. please spacify the table required for any unmodified tables.
then it shows:
database connection error
all the tables and code in test database and production database are same.
anyone can help me?

after you went to database
set datasource location
updated it.
did a mapping box come up
did you then verify the database to pull in the new records or tables?
i would run the query on the server to see if it returns values.
you may also need to set your overqualified table name
database
set datasource
locate the table or sp in the top box
the + next to the sp or table
click
open properities +
overqualified table name F2
enter the table or sp in there
then verify your database and try to run against the prod server

Crystal Report runtime error while changing Data Source Location

Dear All
We are using "Crystal reports for SAP Business one".The Crystal reports version is 12.1.
We built a report in another database with another server.
As we are importing the report in another database of another server,
I am not able to change the Data Source location.
When I am trying to change it,it gives Runtime error and closed automatically.
How can i resolve and change the data source location?

is your CR version the same from which you design the report and to the another server? also did you import your report directly to SBO without changing the data source first? in the case you should update first your Data Source in Crystal Report IDE before importing it to SBO.

I need to deploy two instances of my ADF application on the same development enviroment. We are using Hudson to deploy. My question is how to change data source name and application context root before second deployment.

I don't believe there is an inbuilt facility to do this.
Previously how I've done this is when checking files out using Hudson jovs, before the build I then use an Ant extension called XmlTask (http://www.oopsconsultancy.com/software/xmltask/) to modify the required XML files.
Can I ask why you're doing this in the first place please? Multi-tenancy? 2 versions of the same app?

Hi expert,
1)What report painter -output parameters,Data source,Extract parameter, report mean for and what are the difference?
2)I have create new report painter and transport to Test server using T-code:GCTR and I find that the T-code always point to old report. As I had check the SE93 the D_SREPOVARI-REPORT is point to report group.Why this happen?
3) Does creation of new report or modification of the report always need to select the extraction option so that it will able to display the relected changes? Because, I have done modification on the report but it is not reflected the changes even i save until i have to create the extraction is able to display the report but every time i run the report need to select the extraction with option to choose new extract or old. Kindly advice how to save and create the report painter and save will display reflected result .

I have few querys as below:
1)Do we every time create new report by copying the existing report painter need to select output parameter, data source and extract parameter in order to be able to display the new report?
2)when modify existing report painter and save it do we need to select output parameter, data source and extract parameter in order to be able to display the modify report correctly?
3) What are the different between right click copy the report inreport painter compare with create report painter with copy GRR1?
4) What are the T-code for modify the report group?
5) When I create a new report with the right click copy in GRR1 and modify the report painter column only and everything remain the same just the report name different why when execute the report it always appear in the selection screen with report button which have option button to select the 2 version of report which one is the destination report that I copy from and one is the new report? How to set the report when execute will only display the new report only without need to select the option with just new report only?
6)For transferring reports you can use GR37 (export) and GR38 (import) can be use to transport from one client to another client? What is difference between GR37 compare with GCTR?

Changing Data Source for command objects

Hi,
My report (designed in CR 10) is running based on the Stored Procedure call using a command object; which is running successfully in the DEV environment. The report data source connectivity is a DSN.
Now i want to switch it to QA environment with different DSN name. When i tried to update the Change Data Source option, it doesn't allows to update the existing command with a new command!!!!
I don't know how to fix this. Could any one of you have idea, pls. share it here???

If you have same table structure in new data source then you can change the datasource connection.

5. Ensure the connection is highlighted for the command object in the top window, and the connection is highlighted for the new command object in the bottom window.
6. Click Update.
The database connection for the command object now changes to use the new database connection information.

I can not map field after changing data source location

I have a small problem that I got a report file and database from my customer, after that I setup database, open the file and change data source to my setting. but some filed can not map. The field mapping widonw does not display all field in the table. Of course I have checked the missing fields are existing in the table.
OS:Windows7
DB:Oracle11
CR:XI Release 2
Does anyone have an idea?

In Map Fields window, there is an option "Match Type".
Please Unchek that option, so that you will be able to see all the fields from that table.
Also, while mapping please verify the datatypes of source and target fields.

Unable to change data source at runtime

I have a simple Crystal Report based on a MS-SQL stored procedure that takes one parameter. I developed it against my dev database, so when I run the application, I want to point it at our production database, but no matter what I do, it always calls the stored proc in my dev database. Here's what my code looks like:

When I debug, I can verify that the LogOnInfo object is set to use my production server, the resulting output proves it is still running against my dev server. I haven't run into this in similar apps I'm working with and the only difference with this one is that it's using a stored proc rather than command SQL or hitting the tables directly.

The utility provided in above SAp Note will generate the logon code for your existing report, update the logon information of the target database in the code.
Also search for the sample application 'change database at runtime' in top right corner search box.

Change data source

Hi,
In portal EP6.0
In System Administrator->System Configuration->UM Configuration here in Data Source Tab already data source is assigned to "Read-only microsoft ADS ( Deep Hierarchy ) + Data base". I changed this data source to "Read-only SAP System + Data base" and saved.
But it is giving warninig message saying 'you are not allowed to select dataSourceConfiguration_R/3.xml as Active configuration file. This will lead to inconsistancy'.
How can we change data source?

You want to change the configuration to this "Read-only SAP System + Data base" rite ?
Dont change from here -System Administrator->System Configuration->UM Configuration in Data Source Tab
Start the Config Tool by executing j2eeconfigtoolconfigtool.bat.
Switch to Edit mode.
In the tree, navigate to Global server configuration ® services ® com.sap.security.core.ume.service
Here change the value of the property ume.persistence.data_source_configuration to the one you want to apply(for example dataSourceConfiguration_R/3.xml)
Click on "Apply Custom" Save the changes.
Restart the cluster.
This should work.

What data sources use for report which looks like tr. FS10N

Hello,
I would like to create report in BW which will looks like transaction FS10N (G/L account balance display). Can anybody give some tips which data sources I should use and how initialize these data sources?
There is old genereal ledger in our system, so I suppose that I need data sources 0FI_GL_20 and 0FI_GL_21 but I don´t know how initialize it.

I asked because f.e. retail data sources 2LIS_03_BF or 2LIS_03_UM had to be initialize via tr. OLI1BW and OLIZBW. After that data sources were filled and then data could be loaded to BW by infopackages. But thanks for info that some data sources needn't initialization. By the way, is somewhere info about this (if data source need initialization and how find out transaction for initialization)? Thanks for advices.
About data sources 0FI_GL_20 and 0FI_GL_21: We delayed this because there is needed to switch on function Reporting financials (tr. SFW5) and other things -> I didn't recieve confirming (from higher position) that I can switch it on

We don't need a Java reporting tool to change data source dynamically.
In Oracle Reports we can use:
- lexical parameters
- dynamic ref cursors
- XML runtime customization

Change Data Source not showing tables (in the taget drop down) that begin with "SYSTEM"

I am trying to change the data source to a database table that is named someschema.SYSTEM_XXX_XXX but none of my tables that are named SYSTEM_....... are in the combo box list of the taget tables (Change Data Source) dialog. I have tried this on several database with the same results. Are you filtering out tables that begin with system ?

This issue has been resolved in the latest hot fix for CR4E. You can download the latest version of the hot fix by following these steps: <ol><li>Go under the Help menu</li><li>Select the option Software Updates -> Manage Configuration</li><li>Expand the tree until you see Crystal Reports for Eclipse 1.0.1.v671 (or similar)</li><li>Highlight this entry and select the Scan for Updates option in the window on the right.</li></ol> This will allow you to update to the latest version which is currently 1.0.2.v795 Please let me know if this fix does not resolve the issue outlined in this thread.
