Change DFS Permissions for Namespace HELP!

I need to add Domain Users to the Namespace.  When I set it up I had created a new group, which I now know was a horrible mistake.  I cannot find how to get back to these permissions as shown in the screenshot.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
You can change the shared folder permissions for the namespace by changing the share permissions on the folder in the DFSRoots folder.
Please see the screenshot below:

  • Change/Set permissions for specific application?!

I have at least one application that always enables GPS although it isn't needed --> more power consumption, I don't know why it is doing this. Additionally I have some applications I don't want to have access to the internet (at least if I'm not connected to Wifi).
On the other hand I have a java application that should have access to GPS and mobile data without asking every time for the permission.
Where/How can I achieve this? Why have some applications always to ask when others have permissions for things they don't need for proper function?
    PS: N8 with Belle

    Hi AUTxRemoteC,
According to the best of my knowledge you can only access suite settings and change them according to your preferences for certain applications only. To be able to do so, go to Menu> Settings> Installations> Already Installed the open it. From there, you can only change specific application settings and I know mostly java applications use this method. To check on which applications that you can access and change the settings place your finger to the desired application and hold it and when you see suite settings then you can change it settings. Usually when you hold to an application there is view details and delete but when you see the extra option that is suite settings then open suite settings and change them to your preferences.
I hope that it helps you.

  • How can I change 'Custom' permissions for TM backup disc?

I have recently had some big problems with permissions on the main disk of my G5 iMac. After fixing permissions, Time Machine then reported that my backup disk (an external 300Gb FireWire disk) was read-only and so backups couldn't take place, and the icon for the disk has a padlock shown on it. Looking at the Get Info for the disk and unlocking 'Sharing and Permissions', I see a line saying 'You have custom access', and that all permissions shown are set to 'Custom'. I don't know what this means - and worse, I can't change the permissions to any of the normal settings (Read & Write, Read Only, Write only (drop box)), and I can't check 'Ignore ownership of this problem'.
I am thus unable to do any backup. The system worked fine for at least a year before this. Has anyone any idea what 'custom' means and what I should do. I haven't found anything that seems relevant by searching this forum.

Time Machine uses special "deny everybody everything" permissions. You should not change them.
FIrst, do a +Repair Disk+ (not permissions) on the TM volume via DIsk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
    If that doesn't correct it,
If you only have a partial backup, or don't need the ones you've done, the simplest thing to do is just erase the disk/partition.
If you don't want to erase it, here's a workaround:
First, you need to find the name of the hidden file that's causing the problem Click here to download the +Time Machine Buddy+ widget.
It shows the messages from your logs for one TM backup run at a time, in a small window. If it shows a message like this: "You do not have appropriate access privileges to save file “.<nnnnnnn>” in folder <Name>"* skip to *Open the Terminal App* below.
If not, Click here to download the +Tinker Tool+ app. It allows you to change the Finder to show hidden files (among many other things). Select the first option under Finder, then click +Relaunch Finder+ at the bottom. Reverse this when done.
In a Finder window, select your Time Machine drive/partition. The very first file shown should have a name consisting of a period (dot) followed by 12 numbers and/or letters. (This is your Mac's Ethernet address). Copy or make a note of it.
Open the Terminal app (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
In Terminal, the prompt looks like this: user-xxxxxx:~ <your name>$
(where <your name> is your short user name). It's followed by a non-blinking block cursor (unless it's been changed via Terminal > Preferences).
At the prompt, type the following exactly as shown, substituting the name of your TM drive exactly, including any spaces, between the quotes; and the string of numbers & letters from the message where the series of x's are (keep the dot):
    <pre> sudo chmod 644 /volumes/"TM drive name"/.xxxxxxxxxxxx</pre>
    example: sudo chmod 644 /volumes/"TM Backups"/.0a1b2c3d4e5f
Press Return. You'll get some warnings and a request for your Administrator's password. Type it in (it won't be displayed) and press Return again.
Then try a +Back Up Now+ from the TM icon in your Menubar, or by control-clicking (right-clicking) the TM icon in your dock.

  • On one website I go to for work, it says connection reset while page was loading. I was trying to change the permissions for this website but it doesn't even show up in my permission list. Help please. I need this website for work.

I have contacted this website tech support and they say this issue is on my end. On certain pages on their web site I try go to it will say connection reset. Connection reset while page was loading. I was trying to do anything and everything I can to make sure firefox is allowing access to all pages on this website. I use this website for work I do.

The "The connection was reset" error message can be caused by a bug fix for the BEAST (Browser Exploit Against SSL/TLS) attack that the server doesn't handle.

  • How can I change Aperture permissions for new user account

I migrated my old user account (Ezra) to my new Mac mini from my old MBP laptop, but it would not allow me to keep the same name, (Ezra) so I picked a new one (Karyn). The problem is that now I can't access any of my other Aperture Libraries on my external storage array (Drobo) due to permissions errors. What is the best course of action to get back to working with Aperture? Is there a way to change an existing user account name to match what it used to be? I want the (Ezra) account from the Mac mini to eventually migrate to a freshly purchased Macbook Air later, then I could delete it from the Mac mini to rid the problem of duplicate user account names.

Sounds like when you installed the new system you created a user account on it and then used migration assistant to copy over the files from the old system,. IS this correct?
If so you will have other problems down the road with other applications also. The best thing to so if you still have the old system and have not done to much work on the new system  is to redo the install and use setup assistant. This way your old account will be brought over to the new system and you will not have permissions problems.
You can try one thing. Do a Get Info on the Drobo Drive and see if at the bottom of the Info window you see this:
If that is there for the drive (and I don;t know if the Drobo will have this option) you can select the box and you might be able to get at your libraries.
As I wrote however, even of you fix this problem there is a good chance you will run into others later on.
    regards

  • Remote Desktop Service Manager - configure permissions for Remote Desktop Users to Send Message, Disconnect, Logoff

    Hello, dear colleagues.
We are using Windows Server 2012 R2 as Remote Desktop Server. Also use Windows Server 2008 R2 with Remote Desktop Service Manager to control RDS user sessions (Send Message, Disconnect, Logoff, Query Info).
Send Message, Disconnect, Logoff options works only for users in Administrators group.
I can't to configure permissions for Remote Desktop Users, specific user or AD group.
To set permissions I'm running RDS Host Configuration on Windows Server 2008 R2 and connect to Windows Server 2012 R2. Then double-click
RDP-Tcp, Security tab, add specific user account , AD group or configure
    advanced permissions
    for Remote Desktop Users.
But, as I sad above, these options works only for users in Administrators group. How to make it work for Remote Desktop Users or specific user, AD group?
    Thanks.
P.S. If move specific user from Remote Desktop Users group to Administrators group on
    Windows Server 2012 R2 - it works.

    Hi,
You can prevent administrators from changing the permissions for a connection by applying the
Do not allow local administrators to customize permissions Group Policy setting.
This Group Policy setting is located in Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security
Apart there is one command with which you can set the permission for that check the related
    article. Additionally checkthis
    thread for more detail.
    Hope it helps!

  • Want to change my Permissions on my account

Hi. I need to update my "Personal" account to have the same access as the root. When I go into "Accounts" it lists my account as "admin". Yet I still can't access everything.
Is there a way to make my login account equal to root?

    Okay,
Here's the way I dealt with the permissions problem:
Right-click on a folder that is giving you trouble. I would suggest you start with the folders in the main directory of your hard drive, as in Macntosh HD\Video\ as opposed to Macintosh HD\Video\Final Cut Projects\.
Choose "Get Info" from the menu
At the bottom of this window, you will see "Sharing & Permissions." Left-click on the lock icon at the bottom left. Assuming your account has administrator privileges it will prompt you for a username and password then allow you to edit the permissions.
You should see the name of your account listed (with "me" next to it in parenthesis), along with "Read & Write" in the "Privileges" column.
If you only see "Read" in the Privileges column, left-click the up/down arrows and choose "Read & Write."
If don't see your account listed at all, hit the "plus" icon and choose your account.
If your current account is the primary user, I would suggest highlighting your account and selecting "Make ACCOUNT NAME (Me) the Owner" from the asterisk drop-down menu to the left of the plus/minus buttons.
Once you're satisfied with your choices, choose "Apply to Enclosed Items" from the asterisk menu. This will take a second, as it is changing the permissions for the files and folders saved within this file.
Now, if someone who has more Mac experience and/or a deeper knowledge of permissions and file structure sees something wrong with these instructions, please let me know. I figured this out because I had to get access to my Media HD, not because I was trained in Leopard theory.
But so far it's worked for me -aside from loosing and FCP 5.1 project . . . one of my files can no longer be loaded by FCP. But I did reinstall FCP after erase and install of leopard, so I think it has to do with FCP versions more then permissions issues.
    Is this what you needed?
    CMF
If you see any accounts listed as "unknown" select them and then hit the "minus" button at the bottom.

  • Permissions for Style Resource Readers Group

    Hello
I am in the process of cleaning up permissions for my SharePoint 2013 site and looking at this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262690.aspx, it states very clearly that the Style Resource Readers group should have permissions such as 'Read
to the Master Page Gallery and Restricted Read to the Style Library'.
On my SharePoint 2013 site, I go to Site Settings > People and Groups > Style Resource Readers. I then click Settings > View Group Permissions and I noticed that this group also has "Limited Access" to the homepage, a sub site, the publishedlinks
folder, Quick Deploy Items and Site Collection Images folders.
Does the Style Resource Readers group need access to these folders and if not how do I change the permissions for this group?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Yoshi

You do not need to modify anything with Style Resource Reader group unless you are planning on adding users to that group. Personally I will advise against it.
Limited Access in SharePoint means that there are permission assigned to a user or group on one or more site artifacts i.e. list, folder, item but no permission is assigned to access site.
So Style Resource Readers group out of the box has the Read permission to master page gallery. If you read the description it reads.
"Members of this group are given read permission to the master page gallery and the Restricted read permission to the Style Library. By default,
all authenticated users are a member of this group."
So don't worry about this group and leave it as is given SharePoint already assigned required permission at the master page gallery and style library level for this group.

  • Change layout controller for permissions in details command

How can we change layout controller for permissions shown when you select any repository > details > settings > permissions. here only 5 users are shown in the table i wanted to change the layout to see if i can display more than 5 rows but i can not seem to find the iView corresponding to this pop up screen. Any ideas?

    Hi Firasath,
In the end, this is a modification of the standard, and there are several ways to do such things (and to avoid problems with it, for example when upgrading your installation).
As this is a complex task, I won't say this and that is the right direction. That's really an individual decision for each customer. I know customers who really have a lot of modifications (and they enjoy their extended functionality), others I know who never ever would touch the SAP code. And many ways are in between...
Just for a very fast shot (but not advised as a "clean" way), you could decompile the class itself, make it compilable as a Java project consisting of one class (extending the compile classpath to fit the classes needs), do the change, exchange the original class within the JAR by your modified version and restart the portal (for exchanging WinRAR for example can be used very easily).
A more clean approach would be to import the original PAR as a portal project, decompile the class in question, remove it from the compiled JARs (which have to be added manually into the PAR structure), recompile and redeploy (within the same original namespace).
A more complicated approach is to try to create a new PAR within a new namespace, so that in the end you are not modifying the original component but just "steal" code from the original component and deploy it independently. But this needs most experience.
Not understood everything in detail?! In this case, sorry, but: It's really an absolute non-trivial task which only should be done by people having the experience to understand these lines more or less in a second...
    Hope it helps

This is my first Mac so do not know much about the Mac process, moving slow and steady.
    Donco

Was this drive in use with a windows machine previously?
If yes then I would guess that it is formatted as NTFS, Mac's can not write to NTFS discs.
If you have sufficient space on your Mac copy the disk contents to a folder on your desktop and reformat the drive for use with Mac and Windows, then put the files back.
