Change Email alert

Is there really no way to change the sound played for new email?
I have a hearing problem and I am always missing emails alerts.
Changing the email alert seems like a very basic feature and I'm surprised that this "Most Advanced phone ever" doesn't have this.

I am absolutely stunned that the ability to alter the sound of ALL POSSIBLE alerting features is not supported! Even the most cheapest wireless phones out there have this option -- the iPhone is suppose to be sporting a new example.
Looks to me the developers/designers were too focussed on getting the product out the door then spend the time to provide this VERY IMPORTANT and BASIC feature. I work in an environment where missed text messages and emails will cost me money and not being able to know when received an email or text message because of not being able to HEAR it or quickly IDENTIFY if it is an email vs. text message is EMBARRASSING (not to mention incredibly frustrating)!
This better be addressed in the next firmware update or I think this product will be noticing a lot of unhappy customers. I've mentioned this issue to potential buyer's of the iPhone and they actually decided to go with another product because this lack of a feature is THAT IMPORTANT. I love the phone and it's potential, but I think the rollout was very sloppy and KEY FEATURES were over-looked.

    Open the Calendar app, open the event, tap Edit and change the Alert times.
    If you want to change the default time, Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, scroll down to Calendars - Default Alert Times.

  • Change subject on RTMT email alerts

    Hello Folks,
    I have around 4 CUCM clusters namely APA, EUA, EUB and USC and i have configured the required RTMT email alerts for these cluster.
    The issue is when i get an alerts from any of the above cluster the email subject just states 'RTMT Alert - Critical service Down", in the email content i have all the details.
    Is there a way i can include my cluster name with in the email subject. Is that customization possible ?
    Thanks, Raja.

    No; however, you could change the email From address and build rules in your mailbox (e.g. different folders, different colors or categories, etc) based on that. Another option would be to use a Syslog server instead of emails (System > Enterprise Parameters) and rely on it to do the grouping/categorization for you.

  • Email alert to apple ID after sim card gets changed with new number

    Hi , i would like to know that if i will get an email alert  when my sim card gets changed with the new number, to the apple ID or email ID that i  registered with Apple.

    I would try a few things along the lines of:
    Resetting the iPhone (not just shutting it down)
    Going to Settings>Carrier> this refreshes the carrier list
    Check to make sure it's on automatic or that the 3G AT&T network is selected
    Turning Airplane mode on then off to try to kick start the phone and along the same vain Flicking 3G on and off in Settings>General>Network
    Then a restore
    Then contact AT&T, double check the SIM is 3G enabled, and even if it is still get a replacement SIM
    If none of this worked i would then contact AppleCare or go in to see a genius at an Apple store cause maybe the 3G chipset is stuffed

  • Email Alert/Notification when client status changes?

    Hi,
    Does ARD allow for email alerts or notification when a client goes offline or in sleep mode?
    Also, does ARD monitor the ON/OFF status of a screen attached to a remote computer?
    Thanks,

    Something like Dejal Simon might work for you. I don't know of any way for a Mac to detect whether the monitor is turned off or not, though.

  • HP LaserJet M3027 MFP Getting 'Mailbox full' on test send of email alert

    I am trying to get my network printers to send email alerts to an external hosted Exchange server through our local win2k3 server, which is not running Exchange but is running an SMTP server. I keep getting a 'Mailbox full' message when trying to send a test alert.
    My question is: Do I have to set up an account ON the printer in User Management to be able to send alerts? Currently, there are no users defined on the printers as everybody uses them strictly for network printing. The error is probably something in the SMTP or user configurations on the server but I thought I would ask about the printer user settings just to be sure.

    There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
    Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
    HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • Custom Email Alert Template Issue - Users not getting customized emails

    I have recently customized the XML alerts template (AlertTemplates.xml) for our site collection in SharePoint 2010 to exclude specific fields in the email when users who have subscribed to a list using the "Alert Me" feature.  I have renamed
    the custom alerts XML file and loaded the custom template in the following directory (%ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web server extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML) and restarted IIS.  Once users subscribe to the alerts using the list using the "alert
    me" function they received the customized email as intended.
    We needed to auto-subscribe users to the email alerts so what I did was used a powershell script to add users to the alert subscriptions using the script shown in below:
    Import-Csv D:\Temp\filename.csv | ForEach-Object{
    $webUrl=$_.WebUrl
    $listTitle=$_.List
    $alertTitle=$_.AlertTitle
    $subscribedUser=$_.SubscribedUser
    $alertType=$_.AlertType
    $deliveryChannel=$_.DeliveryChannel
    $eventType=$_.EventType
    $frequency=$_.Frequency
    $oldAlertID=$_.ID
    $web=Get-SPWeb $webUrl
    $testAlert = $web.Alerts | WHERE { $_.ID -eq $oldAlertID }
    IF ($testAlert) {
    $web.Alerts.Delete([GUID]$oldAlertID)
    Write-Host Old alert $oldAlertID deleted. -Foregroundcolor Cyan
    $list=$web.Lists.TryGetList($listTitle)
    $user = $web.EnsureUser($subscribedUser)
    $newAlert = $user.Alerts.Add()
    $newAlert.Title = $alertTitle
    $newAlert.AlertType=[Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertType]::$alertType
    $newAlert.List = $list
    $newAlert.DeliveryChannels = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertDeliveryChannels]::$deliveryChannel
    $newAlert.EventType = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPEventType]::$eventType
    $newAlert.AlertFrequency = [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertFrequency]::$frequency
    if($frequency -ne "Immediate"){
    $AlertTime=$_.AlertTime
    $newAlert.AlertTime=$AlertTime
    $newAlert.Update()
    Write-Host Created $newAlert.Title for $subscribedUser . -Foregroundcolor Cyan
    } ELSE {
    Write-Host Alert $alertTitle for $subscribedUser already done. Moving on. -Foregroundcolor Magenta
    When I ran the script and added the users and restarted the service, all users who were auto-subscribed via this method would get the email without the customizations that were done in the custom template.
     All users who manually subscribed to the list using the "Alert Me" function would get the customized email.
    Does anyone know why users who manually subscribe would get the custom email alert and why users who were auto-subscribed using the powershell script do not get the custom email alert?

    Hi,
    To deploy custom alert template file, we would load changes into SharePoint and restart SharePoint 2010 Timer Service from Windows Service. If you create your own AlertTemplate in the custom_alerttemplates.xml, you will need to set the set the SPList.AlertTemplate
    property of the list. Then delete and re-subscribe to the alerts for the list.

  • How can I turn off email alerts in Lion server?

    I have a 2011 Mini Server.  I don't want to run any of the server software and followed the instructions in the Apple article "How to disable Lion Server".  The problem I'm having is that I keep getting email alerts, mostly the same one saying "The host name of server.local has changed to server.local. Some services may not work correctly until they have been updated to use the new configuration."  Can anyone help me really shut down Lion server?

    No worries. Typically you can rename a machine by just changing the name System Preferences -> Sharing. But there is also a command line option to adjust the name, and if you don't use the command line option, the server freaks out and will alert you about the change forever. ie - for servers, you need to use the command I describe below.
    The command is called changeip and can be run from command line in Terminal.app. It is for manually chaning the ip address and or name of a machine. It basically has 4 parameters: old ip address, new ip address, old machine name, new machine name.
    Basically the command looks like this:
    sudo changeip OLDIPADDRESS NEWIPADDRESS OLDNAME NEWNAME
    If any value is being kept the same, just repeat the identical information as both the old and new value.
    Example 1: Changing the IP address and host name. This would update the machine's ip address to be 192.168.1.2 and its name would be update to my_new_name.
    sudo changeip 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.2 my_old_name my_new_name
    Example 2: Keeping the IP address the same but updating the name. This would update the machine's name to my_new_name but would keep the same ip address.
    sudo changeip 192.168.1.1 192.168.1.1 my_old_name my_new_name
    Most likely you're just wanting to update the name, in which case you should follow the second example. If you run this, be sure to reboot the machine afterwards and test to make sure that any enabled services are running properly.

  • Email Alerts for Items in a List

    I have a List that contains Items that are worked on by multiple users.
    I would like to set up an Alert, or a Workflow in SharePoint Designer, that allows a user who is changing the Item to trigger an email to a user (or users) of their choice, and I would like for this email to function like a "changed item Alert"
    (i.e., I want the email to show the recipient everything that has been changed about that Item).
    I have tried doing this with Alerts, but I cannot specify who should receive the Alert. I have tried this with Workflows, but cannot figure out how to have the email display the changed fields (in the way that Alert emails show changed fields).
    Thanks very much for any help!

  • Add Issue ID to an email alert?

    Dear all,
    (running WSS 3.0)
    I'm desperately trying to add the Issue ID to the alert email that is sent when a list item is assigned to you. I have looked around and followed many tutorials online, however none of my changes have had any effect. So far I have done:
    Copied alerttemplates.xml to customalerttemplates.xml
    Edited customalerttemplates.xml
    Removed "ID" from <ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields>
    Ran stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://server -filename "C:\Program files\common files\Microsoft shared\web server extensions\12\template\XML\customalerttemplates.xml"
    Ran iisrest
    Restarted Sharepoint Timer service
    However even after doing that the email sent when an item is assigned is just the basic default! I've just tried to add the ID to the most simple section of the email (footer) however nothing seems to change the email alert.
    I've followed guides such as:

    Can anyone please help?
    Regards,
    Steve

    I am aware that this is very old thread, and I needed similar solution to display ID in the email alerts.
    I am using SharePoint 2010 Enterprise. And I am able to get it displayed correctly in the alerts. Output attached:
    Here are the changes I did:
    1. Created a copy of alerttemplates.xml and named it as alerttemplatesWithIssueID.xml.
    2. Open it in browser to check the structure. And then removed "ID" from <Properties><ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields> and <DigestNotificationExcludedFields> for SPAlertTemplateType.GenericList and SPAlertTemplateType.AssignedToNotification
    <AlertTemplate> types.
    Note: <AlertTemplate Type="List"  Name="SPAlertTemplateType.AssignedToNotification"> has just one property <Properties><ImmediateNotificationExcludedFields></Properties> as DigestNotification is not applicable for this event
    type.
    3. register it using stsadm -o updatealerttemplates command.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN>stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://<sitecollectionUrl> -filename "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML\alerttemplatesWithIssueID.xml"
    -lcid 1033
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN>iisreset
    Attempting stop...
    Internet services successfully stopped
    Attempting start...
    Internet services successfully restarted
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN>
    4. My next todo action item is to display it on top instead of displaying ID at the bottom of the alert.
    Thanks & Regards, Atul Shukla

  • Why are my email alerts not being sent?

    My SP 2010 server is also the SMTP server and it works.  I can drop the email.txt file in the pickfolder and that gets squirted out as expected, and successfully received at the other end.
    But I simply can’t get email alerts from sharepoint to work.
    I’ve configured outgoing email settings in Central Admin and for the server name, have tried using the machine name, the FQDN for the server (part of a domain) and ip address.  All  no success.
    I also made sure the out going email settings in the General settings of the Web application are correct.
    The AD users all have correct email addresses and the profiles and AD records match.
    Alerts are allowed, have been set for discussion changes and show up under Manage my alerts but when I make a discussion entry or reply, nothing happens.
    Firewall is disabled and no AV software.
    What else can I dig into?

    Native alert on a document library can setup to email to the predefined user when any changes on the document.

  • Changing email address for Preferences???

    Hi Everyone,
    This question actually has nothing to do with SQL! I am having trouble working out how to change were my email alerts are being sent to! I login with my hotmail account, but email alerts (concerning my threads) are being sent to my work address. I can't
    work out how to change were alerts are sent to...such a seemingly simple thing! However the MSDN site isn't the easiest to set preferences in!!!
    Primarily I use the MSDN site for learning about SQL so I am specifically interested in changing where alerts related to the following URL -http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/ are sent to...
    Of course I have Googled this, but with NO LUCK (admittedly I didn't get super desperate and Bing Search!).
    Any help here will be greatly appreciated. If your an Administrator with enough skill to move this thread can you please share instructions on how to change the notifications email address???
    Kind Regards,
    David

    Hi David,
    You can change the email address notifications are sent to via 'My settings'. To get there, click on the 'Quick access' dropdown in the upper left (under the 'Ask a question' button) and then click on 'My settings'.
    There's a 'Configure alerts' section there where you can change the address.
    Just as a heads up (you don't have to worry about this, but I'll post this for future people who find this thread), making any changes in 'My settings' mangles all HTML tags in your signature block. You'd need to paste in fresh HTML before saving the changes
    to ensure that your signature doesn't break.
    EDIT:
    I just learned that you'll also need to confirm the new address that you enter into the 'Configure alerts' section before notifications will start being delivered to this new address. The confirmation email may take quite a while to appear.
