Change Event dispatched 2 times in List Component

Hi,
    Thanks for taking the time to read about my problem. I have a List component which has a simlpe array of strings as a dataprovider. I'm using the change event to call a method and I don't know why this method gets called 2 times.
¿Someone knows why this keeps happening?
Thanks for your help.

If an s:List, you put a IndexChangeEvent listener the event, and in that event, cast a filterFunction to the dataProvider of that List ...
You will have to validate inside that function through property IndexChangeEvent newIndex of greater than or equal to ZERO.
Because interestingly, the dataProvider of the List filter is invoked IndexChangeEvent again, but now the newIndex, give a value of "-1", leading with it the entire event, from null and associated with this throw this:
Error # 1009: Can not access a property or method of a null object reference.
When referring to the event ... :/

  • Add change event to a custom MXML component

    I am building an MXML project in Flash Builder 4.5
    I have a custom MXML component that contains a TextInput field. I want the custom component to have a change event that triggers a function in the main application.
    I created a test project to try and solve this.  At the moment, it appears to trigger an event once and then stops.  Please take a look and let me know where I am going wrong. Many thanks.

    I have found the solution to this...
    The clue was that it worked the first time a change was made, changing the value to the default '0'.
    The problem was that the var value is type Number and the inputBox.text is type String.
    I therefore added the following function:
      protected function textChange():void
       value = Number(inputBox.text);
       dispatchEvent(new Event('change'))
    I also changed the  change="dispatchEvent(new Event('change'))"  property to
       valueCommit="textChange()"
    ... and that fixed it..
    Thanks to all those who took the trouble to look at this

  • Capture date change event of Time Refresh Control

    Hi,
    Is there any possible way by which we can capture the date change event from the time refresh control of iGrid?

    Hi,
    Ok lets do it this way.
    I have a page in which i am having radio button for date selection say YTD, MTD and so.
    In the page i have a frame in which an iGrid is coming up with some data based on the time period selected on the page.
    Now if i change the date from the time refresh control of the iGrid in the frame i want to uncheck the radio button seleted on the page as now its not YTD or MTD or whatever selected previously.
    Is there any possible way to do this?

  • Multiple events in a single list

    Does anyone know how create mutliple change events in the same list?
    Basically want to access different view files by clicking different lines from a single list.
    I havent seen anything on this.  Is it even possible in Flex?
    This is for a mobile application.
    Thaks!

    Well, I don't really like these theroretical discussions. Can you attach a simplified version of some of your code?
    There are many other ways to identify the particular control. You could for example search an array of references for the value of the "ctlref" event data node. This would make the code much more robust (your code will fail for example if you (or some other programmer updating your code in a few years!) notices a mispelling and edits the label without also changing the case structure cases).

    The only idea that comes to mind is to keep the file on the dvd, then have your app install (copy) it on first launch.

  • List component skin or style problem

    I am building a scrolling list that pulls data from a xml
    file, and binds the data to a list component
    I am trying to figure out how to change the look of the list
    component.
    I need to create a rounded backgound for each list item and I
    would like to use a symbol for this.
    I can't find a setStyle property to change this and if I try
    to adjust the HaloTheme.fla there is no List symbol to change.
    How do I access the graphic being used by the list component?
    Thanks for any help

    You could write your own CellRenderer and apply it to the
    list.

  • Clear out tile list on change event

    I have a tile list component with thumbnails that changes when a combo box is changed.  The thumbnails load in videos when clicked.  When I change between items in the combo box, ghosted images of the previous item in the tilelist remain.  Also, the videos seem to be loading on top of each other when I change the combo box.
    In the change event, I would like the tilelist to clear out so there are no ghosted thumbnails from the previous combo box choice and I want the video player to clear out so the videos don't play on top of each other.
    This is the change event function that I have:
    myTileList.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, listListener);
    // Detect when new video is selected, and play it
    function listListener(event:Event):void {
    var targetSource=event.target.selectedItem.data;
    if (targetSource.indexOf(".jpg")>-1) {
      //var URL=event.target.selectedItem.data;
      var req:URLRequest=new URLRequest(event.target.selectedItem.data);
      navigateToURL(req);
    } else {
      var flvControl:FLVPlayback=display;
      flvControl.source = event.target.selectedItem.data;
      flvControl.addEventListener(VideoProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
      flvControl.addEventListener(VideoEvent.READY, readyHandler);
      addChild(pb);
      flvControl.play();
    Do you see the issue that is causing the duplication?

  • Need help going to error page from jsf component value change event

    Afternoon all,
    I have a jsp page which uses jsf components and when one of the jsf combo boxes components handles an value change event, the method 'handleTestComboValueChange' is fired.
    Within this method if an error is caught I would like to display an error page instead of the currently displayed page.
    Can some one tell me how to do this. I tried to use getFacesContext().getExternalContext().redirect("errorpage.jsp"); but I just got an illegalStackException error.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks in advance,
    Lex

  • How can I change my iCal times to be listed in 12 hour format?

    I have the system set for 12 hour but it does not seem to carry over to iCal.  I have restarted since changing the system to 12-hour clock.
    By the way, I mean the little timeline running down the left hand side in week view.  Individual appointments are opening in 12-hour format.
    I've worked on this a bit and now noticed that the event times are listed as 5:30PM-18 etc.  Any hour which is 'on the hour' is a single number from a 24 hour clock!  Wierd.
    Don't want to change away from UK settings because then I'll have to mess with date formats and everything.  There must be a way to edit the date, although doing it through 'Language & Text' doesn't seem to be having the desired effect!
    Thanks
    JP

    This isn't Lion-specific. I had the same prob changing OS a couple of years ago and now again changing to Lion on a new laptop.
    Changing the Date and Time settings would do it (you'd think) but it doesn't. It was always embedded in International (now Language &Text). It seems to be a bug though as I've Custom Edited selecting 12-hr clock with am/pm and have the same issue. On-the-hour has no am/pm or zeros.
    I've learnt not to waste too much energy on it once it doesn't make logical sense as it's generally a bug.
    I'm loving Lion though - even unexpectedly using the natural scrolling.....but I digress....

  • Getting the rawValue of a Drop-Down list on the "change" event

    I am having problems getting the rawValue of a Drop-Down list on the "change" event. It seems that you have to select the same item twice in a row to get the rawValue to be the value of the selected item.
    ::dropdownlist onChange event::
    xfa.host.messageBox(this.rawValue);
    On the first time a value is selected you get 'null'. The second time the same value is selected, you get the selected value.
    Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? Also, I CANNOT use xfa.event.newText, I need to use the rawValue of the dropdownlist.
    Thanks

    The change event occurs before the rawValue is changed. If you NEED to use the rawValue you'll need to use a later event. Perhaps you could use exit so that it gets triggered when the field loses focus?

  • ADS with af:poll component does not reliably deliver DB change events

    I took the Steve M's sample #156 (http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples) as mentioned in an earlier forum post (Re: ADF BC and the Active Data Service using af:table and modified it to use an af:activeOutputText instead of the adf:table to display the output as a result of database modifications.
    As long as I open 5 or less tabs/browser windows (combination of IE and Firefox Mozilla) with my sample application, I can see the database changes being actively delivered to each of the browser/tabs correctly. However, when I open more than 5 browser/tab windows for my application and make a database change, then most of the times the active event does not seem to be delivered to any of the browser/tab windows and the af:activeOutput text field is not updated with the latest database change. At this stage, the database change active event is not just delayed it just does not seem to fire, the only way at this stage to get the database change to show up is to open another browser tab/window. When you do that, then not only the newly opened tab/window get the latest database change but also the tabs/windows that had been opened earlier suddenly receive the database change that they had not received before the new tab/window was opened. It almost looks like the tabs/windows had received the database change event but it was queued up and for some reason was not able to refresh the browser/tab window.
    I am working off an ADE application view that has the underlying FMWTOOLS_MAIN_GENERIC_110116.1002 label. Is this a known issue and if so when can a fix be expected for this? If you need my application, I can zip it up though I believe I was getting similar behavior even with Steve's original sample 156 for more than 5 browser/tab windows.

    Hi,
    if I am correct, then you are from Oracle and should use internal forums or mailing lists.

  • Event dispatching in lightweight component

    Hi all
    I'm trying to figure out how the event dispatch works for the Swing's lightweight component, and there's something I can't find in the tutorials I found.
    Lightweight components doesn't have a peer, so they don't receive directly paint events, but it's their containers that call it inside their paint() method (and that's why one should always write super.paint() if wants to override the container's paint() ).
    But what about the other events? I suppose they are received by the container (just as paint events) but I can't understand how that container dispatches them to the right lightweight container...
    Thank you

    This is what I know about the painting in light weight component in Java.
    Lets us concentrate on the button only.
    Whenever we press the button we change it s state from 'normal' to 'pressed'. ( Some boolean might be used in the actual code ).
    Like wise whenever we do some user inputs to the button ( or any other lightweight component ) it results in the change in the state of the button.
    These basic actions are handled by BasicButtonListener.
    Now whenever the state of a component is changed it triggers a ChangeEvent associated with that perticular state change.
    The implementation of the button is such that it calls the repaint method itself whenever any state of the button changes.
    So it is the component itselt who calls its paint method and not its outermost container as you think.
    The container of any component can result in repainting of its child component only when it revalidates itself.

  • List change event wipe effect

    I have a list component with a change handler. When the user
    clicks on a name in the list an image appears. When the user clicks
    on another name I want the "old" image to wipe to the left and the
    newly selected image to then wipeRight. I have tried all kinds of
    effect configurations like sequence, effectEnd etc but I cannot get
    this to work.

    Sounds like you were on the right track by using effectEnd.
    here's an example using the List's itemClick event, a showEffect
    and a hideEffect and a callLater(). Ends up with a real smooth wipe
    In/Out effect.
    Step through it and see what you think.

    Log Message:
    Followup to the recent event dispatching change.  As it turns out we do require capture phase listeners on both FlexEvent.MOVE and FlexEvent.RESIZE.  Will make the change to always dispatch these event types but if it proves too much of a performance loss (as measured by our performance suite), we will find a way to work around the need for capturing.  Currently UIComponent listens for MOVE,RESIZE that it may update the focus rectangle.  DataGrid listens for RESIZE globally to dismiss any active item renderers.

  • Disable event firing while updating list item in custom timer job

    Hi
    I am adding new items in the list usign custom timer job.
    While adding the items in the list event receiver of another list (which is not related to list which is updating) is getiing fired due to which I am getting data wrongly updated and exceptions are comming.
    why the another lists event recevier is executing while updating my list?
    How can I disable event firing from timer job code?
    please suggest any solution

    Hello,
    It seems you have deployed your event receiver globally and it is applied to all the lists. I can suggest two ways:
    1. Either you update your event receiver feature.xml file and attached to specific list, wherever you want. You can follow below link to attach event with specific list via code:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.speventreceiverdefinition.aspx
    Or instead of code you can also pass ListUrl in feature.xml file:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff398052.aspx
    2. OR delete event receiver from the list: You can use below code in your timer job to delete event receiver
    http://sarangasl.blogspot.in/2009/11/remove-event-receiver-in-sharepoint.html
    Hope it could help
