Currently my Chart of Account code is ABCD with discription : Chart of Account - C COMPANY
I have to change ABCD code with WXYZ.
Is this possible please advice
Thanks
Vijay

Hi
What Implications that may have applied reset to a company code that has been productive and has therefore are posted from FI, CO, MM, SD, PM, PP and WM.  (Reset Transaction: OBR1 for Delete Company Code Data)
It is important to point out that the company began to operate with the modules MM, SD, PM, WM and PP without considering its effects on FI and CO and therefore the data that is in financial accounting and cost is not to relevate for the company. This is to be done with the intention to start with a new Plan of Accounts for this company code.
thanks for the help they can give me!!!!!!

    Hi,
Changing the Chart of Accounts code along with all General Ledger Accounts leads to complete re-implimentation of sap.
There will be lot of integration points will need to be changed with all the modules like SD, MM, PP and Controllling. Extensive testing of all business processes is needed.
Definitely it will take lot of time and effor from alll the module and may not be explained in sentences here.

  • Change of Chart of Accounts

    Hi SAP Experts
I hereby would like to know what the posibility is to change a company Chart of Accounts.
The company was linked to a Chart of Accounts and operated for couple of months (year).  As this Chart of Accounts are also assigned to other company codes, the said company wants it own (new) Chart of Accounts.
Is it possible for a company that was operative to change its Chart of Accounts?
    Theo

    Hi,
We cannot change simply the Chart of Accounts. There is mandatory process to follow.
If you are trying to change system will prompt you error message, reset the transactionl data.
    1. Create a seperate Client with the help of Basis People
    2. Copy the Transactional Data in separate client.
    3. Now reset the data in Original Client
    4. Now change the COA.
    5. Now copy/migrate  the Transactional Data to Old Client.
Note: Before resetting the data, actual Transactional Data should be copied in to another client without loosing your Business Data.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to change the chart of accounts in Oracle Financials?

    Dear Colleagues,
Is it possible to change the chart of accounts in Oracle Financials?
    Thank you in advance.
    Andrey

It is not an easy change. Oracle typically recommends against it but sometimes company structure or processes change so much that you are forced to do it.
Take a look at http://www.vantagesolutions.com/media/SCOUG_May_2004.pdf as well as http://www.erpstuff.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6381.
If you google "change oracle chart of accounts", you will find some more hits as well. This is a big project.
If you other business reasons to do a reimplementation, then changing COA as part of that will be very easy.
For a lot of companies debating between reimplementation and upgrade, a need to change COA becomes the last straw in favor of reimplementation.
    Hope this helps,

  • Change of Chart of Account

    Dear Expert,
Please provide me your inputs on the below question.
Can we change a chart of account in Production Stage as well as development stage? If yes, under what circumstance can would one change it and what is the procedure of changing it?
    regards
    Sandip
    Moderator: Please, search before posting

Technically, yes they can be changed.  In development system it is simpler as compared to the change in production environment.  There are SAP tools available for chart of accounts transfer.  See the following notes.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/369036
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/119906
If these are all interview questions, I'd suggest you take a good textbook on SAP configuration in Financials and Controlling modules.  This forum is really for people who face realtime issues in their projects and are looking for a solution.  If you are eager to learn, you are very welcome to read the forum threads/questions.  There is also keyword search functionality using which you can read threads/questions that interest you!

  • Changing a G/L account code from B/S item to P/L item

    Hi Experts,
I created a G/L account code as a Profit & Loss item. After that some document transactions were posted in that G/L Account code.
Later, I realized that that G/L account should have been a Balance Sheet item. So, when in FS00, I tried to change the radio button from P/L item to B/S item for the above stated G/L account code, it is not allowing because there are transactions / records in that G/L account code.
What should I do to convert that G/L account code from P/L item to B/S item. Please guide.
I will definitely award points to everybody who answers.
    Thanks & Regards
    Rajeev Sharma

    Hi Rajeev,
It is a big thing to change a GL account from BS to P&L.
First tip is, if you can avoid it please do, by this I mean, block the account and create a new GL account.
Please review your account groups, you normally group similar accounts in the same number ranges and I would recommend that a single account group is only BS or P&L.
The fact you have posted items to the GL account is the biggest problem.
You need to have the account with a zero balance, this will mean either reversing the documents you posted or creating a journal to zero the account and then clear if possible all of the line items.
You also need to consider the impact it has made on the documents you have created, especially if a period is closed.
I think it is possible to change if there are no open items, but I would contact SAP via OSS to get the answer.
Please publish the answer back on the forum.

  • Change alternative chart of account

what is the differents steps and blocking points when you want to change a lot of alternative account (create new one, replace  old account per a new account,...). What are the impacts and the blocking points in financial statement?
    Thanks for your feed back.

    Hi,
I have the same issue. I have to change the alternative account to some accounts that have no balance zero. In order to put the balance zero, I have to do a posting, but previously I have to set all the automatic accounts to manual accounts in FS00, and I don't know how to solve this issue for reconciation accounts. For vendor and customer reconciliation accounts, I can create a virtual customer and vendor in order to do this posting, but what should I do for asset reconciliation accounts? Should I use ABF1 in order to be able to do the direct posting to the asset reconciliation account?
    Thank you very much,
    Ariana

Now I  want to change the Chart of Account to this company code. I gone to T code  OB62  from position go to my company code I changed the chart of account  but while saving the file I got thread  u201CReset company code data before changing the chart of accountsu201D
How to go further could anybody explain me.
    Thank you in advance
    krishna

If you really want to allocate a different chart of accounts to the company code, first of all reset the company-code specific data for the old chart of accounts.
    1. First of all you must, if it exists, reset the transaction data for this company code.
    2. Finally, carry out the resetting of the company code-dependent G/L account master data (without the general master data).
    Note:
When dealing with large quantities of data, resetting the master data or transaction data can be very time-consuming. In this case, it is advisable to schedule the running of these reports as a batch run.

I tried to delete G/L accounts Tnasaction code OBR1 & OBR2 But nothing changed.
I wish to assignment of chart of accounts in company code in Global settings & wish to re-assign different chart of accounts. I have not created any assignment of company code to controlling area, plant, sales organization, etcu2026 While removing this it says Reset company code data before changing the chart of accounts. 1)       When I am trying to remove assignment of K4 fiscal year to company code it does not allow me. SO how to solve this problem.
Should I delete company code & then retry the same?
Please suggest how to reassign chart of accounts to company code as no data like customer, vendor or sales transaction is made.
    Pl advise solution THANKS

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the answer. I have not copy any company code to my co. code 4040. Just as new entry I created 4040 company code. In Org object Check everything about table found OK. No seprate G/L A/C is created by me for co. code 4040
To see if company code is productive means Active? In "Enter Global Parameter? Tab-->Cost of Sales Accounting ACTV is 2. When I tried to make it Inactive (Blank), it is not allowing me and showing error msg as below.
You do this in Customizing as follows: Cross-Application Components -> Bank Directory -> Change Message Control.
I checked this but asking for Application Area to put & I do not know hwat area I should put.
Am I going right as suggested by you?
I had deleted G/L accounts earlier but Sales Actg is active so sould not go ahead.
As per Venkat I had decided to delete company code, But I want to solve without deletion.
I am SD guy so asking many Qs of FICO as I am learning now.
    Thanks
Reason why you are not able to delete the assignment is that, you have already created GL accounts for the COA. I hope you have not done any posting using those GL accounts.
First of all please make that you company code is not set as productive. if set prodictive you will not be able to delete any master data. So please remove the productive check(if any).
Then you try to delete the GL account that you have created for the COA. once you delete the GL account the system might ask for the deletion of the account group. After that you should be able to change the assignment.

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I think you have copied the co. code using Trcode , When you have copied the co code all the gl master records from the source co code is also coiped to to the target company code. these gl masters use the COA(Chart of accounts)  used by the source co. code.
If you want to assigna new COA now to the target co code then you have to delete all the gl accounts from this new co code you can do this by executing TR Code OBR2. Select the gl accounts, Select the check box for "with general master data" and provide the company code and execute. Now you can assign a new COA to this new company code

  • Change chart of accounts in Controlling area

    Hi all,
How can I  change the chart of accounts in controlling area?
I've already changed chart of accouns in FA CoCode Global data, and I have to change chart of accounts in controlling area;  In OKKP chart of accounts is in display mode

I get the message; where I have to assign Chart of acc to Controling area in OKKP is not possible
Differing charts of accounts: INT - CAXX
    Message no. KT299
    Diagnosis
The system makes consistency checks during assignment of a company code to a controlling area as part of assignment control.
The same checks take place if assignments already exist and you change the basic data in the controlling area, or if you define the controlling area and company code as a 1:1 structure.
If the check finds an error, the system cannot execute the function ("Assign" or"Change basic data"). If you do not maintain the required data for the consistency check (such as currency, chart of accounts, or fiscal year variant in the company code), this also results in an error message.
Chart of accounts INT, controlling area XX01, does not agree with chart of accounts CAXX, company code XX01.
    System Response
    Processing is terminated.
    Procedure
Ensure that the same chart of accounts is assigned to controlling area and company code.

  • Changing chart of account by DI API

    Hi,
Is this possible to change a Chart Of Account by the DI API and if so what does it do.  Does it change it everywhere that the old chart of account was used ?

ChartOfAccounts is a business object that represents the General Ledger (G/L) accounts in the Finance module.
    This object enables you to:
    Add a G/L account.
Retrieve a G/L account by its key.
    Update a G/L account.
    Remove a G/L account.
Save the object in XML format.
    Source table: OACT.
    Object Model
    Remarks
The Chart of Accounts is an index of all G/L accounts that are used by one or more companies. For every G/L account there is an account number, an account description, and information that determines the function of the account.
You have to assign a Chart of Accounts to every company. This Chart of Accounts becomes operative after you carry out posting for these businesses in your daily business.
After choosing the most suitable Chart of Accounts, you can customize your choice by adding, adjusting, and changing. However, once posting were made to Chart of Accounts you cannot delete it.
Mandatory fields in SAP Business One: Code or FormatCode (when working with account segmentation), and FatherAccountKey.
To display the form in the application:
Select Financials --> Chart of Accounts (or Edit Chart of Accounts).
In the SDK I don't se any mention if the change is made in all the documents that were posted, I mean, its important to be sure that if I change the COA that it effectively changes it everywhere.
