Change of query already in workbook

Hi,
I have created a workbook for a query and moved to QA. Now the user wants some modifications and I had to change the query. Then I recreated the workbook and saved in the same name. And moved to QA. But the changes that I made to the workbook do not reflect in QA. The workbook reflects the old format only.
Did any of you face the same problem? How do I rectify this?
I look forward to your suggestions.
Thanks
Kumar

Hello Kumar,
The name that u have given for your new workbook is the description; that may be the same for the old and new workbook; but, the technical name is different for both. So, it is obvious that the new workbook can not overwrite the old workbook.
So, may be u can delete the old workbook and advise user to use the new workbook - which is with same description.

  • How to change the reference of a Workbook to a Query

I have a Query Q1 and I have a workbook W1 for this query in 3.5,  I copied query Q1 to a new Query Q2,  and copied workbook W1 to a new workbook W2. (using RSZC)
Now I have Queries Q1 and Q2 and Workbooks W1 and W2. But as the workbook W2 is a copy of W1, it still has the reference to query Q1. Is there any way to change the reference of a workbook to a query ?
My requirement is, workbook W2 should refer to query Q2.
    Appretiate your help.
    Regards,
    R. Vodnala

Go to design mode of the second workbook and change the query using the edit option to Q2 then your workbook W2 will refer to query Q2
Just to get the idea go through this link here it is shown how to change the query.

  • How to re-assign the query to a workbook after changes.

    Hi Experts,
I have  added new variables to the selection screen of a Query.
This query is also being used in some workbook.
How can i reflect this change in Selection variables to Workbook also.
When i re-assign the data-provider to the report, it restores the default layout of query.
The changes of workbook are lost.
How can the changes in query be reflected in Workbook, without having to create the workbook again.
Any pointers on this would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance.

Delegation is also a standard workflow administration functionality; it is not specific to MDG. There is a "substitution" button in the workflow inbox that a user can setup. When people leave on vacation, they should set it up. When they leave the company, I would this delegation will be one of the last things on their minds. That's where Workflow Admin delegation is needed: transaction RMPS_SET_SUBSTITUTE.
As far as escalation, there is a "reminder" that you can set in the rule-based BRF+ decision table. However, it is very limited and only goes to the responsible person him-/herself. For real escalation to a manager or another support group, you will need to build a completely new custom workflow template that includes your escalation rules or at least a "sub-workflow" template that you can call from within the standard rule-based workflow template.

  • BExAnalyzer: Multiple use of the same Query in a Workbook - Command Button

    Hy Gurus,
in my Workbook I have in Sheet 1 one Analysis Grid, defined as DP_1
in Sheet 2 it is an other Analysis Grid defined as DP_2
Both Data-Provider refer to the same technical BW Query.
If I add a Button (from the BEx Toolbar) and try to refresh the first query (with commands: PROCESS_VARIABLES and VAR_SUBMIT) both Queries will be refreshed with the same variable value, even if i mention "DP_1" as Data_Provider in the button.
But I don't want, that the second query is been refreshed too (with the same variable value).
In the workbook Settings, I already checked on: Allow refresh Function for Individual Queries.
    Can anybody help?
    Regards
    Klaus

It is not a solution to copy the query. We will need this feature for about 50 Workbooks/Queries and so it is the problem to keep the copied queries consistent
If I refresh the Queries manual with the the "Change Variable Values" Button I get a pop-up with two fields where i can input two different values - here it works.
Can I achieve the same with the command buttons?
The definition of the first command button is like this:
    Name                       Index     Value
    DATA_PROVIDER     1           DP_1
    CMD                           1          PROCESS_VARIABLES
    SUBCMD                    1          VAR_SUBMIT
Command Range: A2:C5 (there is the Name, Value, Sign and Operator of the Variable).
    The second command Button:
    Name                       Index     Value
    DATA_PROVIDER     1           DP_2
    CMD                           1          PROCESS_VARIABLES
    SUBCMD                    1          VAR_SUBMIT
Command Range: A12:C15 (with a different Value of the Variable).
If there is one query in the workbook it works fine, but not for two queries, even if I change the Index of the second button to 2.
    Thank you for your hints.

    Diagnosis
There are the following possible causes:
No request has been set up as the standard transport request for BEx objects.
The (set up) request 'WD1K917646' (for the package '' ) has already been released.
The (set up) request 'WD1K917646' (for the package '' ) is not of the type 'transportable change request'.

How to make changes to query.
    Step by Step help needed.

    Hi,
I'm also receiving similar error 'BEx transport request is not available or not suitable' when I open a query in development SYSDEV to edit.
This query has been transported to SYSQA but now I need to make some changes so I opened it in  SYSDEV but it doesnt allow me to edit.
Do I need to follow the below steps to be able to edit the query in SYSDEV and once done I need to transport the changes/query to QA for validation.
    In SYSDEV or SYSQA ?
Step 1) Go to RSA1 Tcode.
Step 2) Click on "Transport Connection" function on the left side pane.
Step 3) Make sure that Grouping is "Only Necessary Objects".
Step 4) Make sure that Collection mode is "Collect Automatically".
Step 5) Collect your query by double clicking on "Selected Objects" which is under "Query Elements"->"Query"->"Selected Objects".
Step 6) On the Right side pane, take a Right Click on the "Query Elements" node and choose "Transport all below".
Note: Make sure that you have not selected any other object other than the objects which are under "Query Elements".
Step 7) Click on the "Transport Objects" ( Truck Icon ) button. Is it Transport Bex button here ?
Step 8) Create a new "Transport Request".
Also below are the steps I used to transport from SYSDEV to SYSQA initially.
Step 8) Create a new "Transport Request".
    Please advice
    Thank you.

                    GROUP BY sortest_pidm;

    Hi,
That depends on whether spriden_pidm is unique, and on what you want for results.
Whenever you have a problem, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevamnt columns only) for all tables, and the results you want from that data.
If you can illustrate your problem using commonly available tables (such as those in the scott or hr schemas) then you don't have to post any sample data; just post the results you want.
Either way, explain how you get those results from that data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.
It looks like you're doing something similiar to the following.
Using the emp and dept tables in the scott schema, produce one row of output per department showing the highest salary in each job, for a given set of jobs:
    DEPTNO DNAME          LOC           JOB_1   SAL_1 JOB_2   SAL_2 JOB_3   SAL_3
        20 RESEARCH       DALLAS        ANALYST  3000 MANAGER  2975 CLERK    1100
10 ACCOUNTING     NEW YORK      MANAGER  2450 CLERK    1300
30 SALES          CHICAGO       MANAGER  2850 CLERK     950On each row, the jobs are listed in order by the highest salary.
This seems to be analagous to what you're doing. The roles played by sortest_pidm, sortest_tesc_code and sortest_test_score in your sortest table are played by deptno, job and sal in the emp table. The roles played by spriden_pidm, id and name in your spriden table are played by deptno, dname and loc in the dept table.
It sounds like you already have something like the query below, that produces the correct output, except that it does not include the dname and loc columns from the dept table.
    SELECT    deptno
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, job))     AS job_2
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
               SELECT    deptno
               ,          job
               ,          max_sal
               ,          ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  deptno
                                              ORDER BY          max_sal     DESC
                                )         AS rn
               FROM     (
                             SELECT    e.deptno
                       ,           e.job
                       ,           MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
                       FROM      scott.emp        e
                       ,           scott.dept   d
                       WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND           e.job        IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                       GROUP BY  e.deptno
                       ,           e.job
    GROUP BY  deptno
;Since dept.deptno is unique, there will only be one dname and one loc for each deptno, so we can change the query by replacing "deptno" with "deptno, dname, loc" throughout the query (except in the join condition, of course):
SELECT    deptno, dname, loc                    -- Changed
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1

    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
SELECT    deptno, dname, loc          -- Changed
               ,          job
               ,          max_sal
               ,          ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  deptno      -- , dname, loc     -- Changed
                                              ORDER BY          max_sal      DESC
                                )         AS rn
               FROM     (
                             SELECT    e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc                    -- Changed
                       ,           e.job
                       ,           MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
                       FROM      scott.emp        e
                       ,           scott.dept   d
                       WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND           e.job        IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                       GROUP BY  e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc                    -- Changed
                       ,           e.job
GROUP BY  deptno, dname, loc                    -- Changed
;Actually, you can keep using just deptno in the analytic PARTITION BY clause. It might be a little more efficient to just use deptno, like I did above, but it won't change the results if you use all 3, if there is only 1 danme and 1 loc per deptno.
By the way, you don't need so many sub-queries. You're using the inner sub-query to compute the MAX, and the outer sub-query to compute rn. Analytic functions are computed after aggregate fucntions, so you can do both in the same sub-query like this:
    SELECT    deptno, dname, loc
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, job))     AS job_1
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 1, max_sal))     AS sal_1
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, job))     AS job_2
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 2, max_sal))     AS sal_2
,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, job))     AS job_3
    ,       MAX (DECODE (rn, 3, max_sal))     AS sal_3
    FROM       (
                   SELECT    e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc
              ,       e.job
              ,       MAX (e.sal)     AS max_sal
              ,       ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY  e.deptno
                                           ORDER BY       MAX (sal)     DESC
                                          )       AS rn
              FROM      scott.emp    e
              ,       scott.dept   d
              WHERE     e.deptno        = d.deptno
AND       e.job                IN ('ANALYST', 'CLERK', 'MANAGER')
                  GROUP BY  e.deptno, d.dname, d.loc
              ,       e.job
    GROUP BY  deptno, dname, loc
;This will work in Oracle 8.1 and up. In Oracle 11, however, it's better to use the SELECT ... PIVOT feature.

  • Not able to replace new query in old workbook

    Hi All,
I am having a workbook on a query which was developed long back, due to few changes i created new query and now i want to replace that query in old workbook which it is not allowing also tried to create new workbook with new query but when i run workbook it shows no applicable data found ,when i run query the data is coming.
I need all your suggestion on this
    Regards
    Deva

    Hi Dev,
Open your Workbook and Go to the Sheet in which the desired query (to be removed) is embedded.
In the "BEx Toolbar" 3rd Last Icon if you place cursor on  it it will say "Tools" > Click on Tools and you will see an Option "Remove Query" or if you want to remove All queries from Work book there is another option Tools> All Queries in Workbook --> Detach.
This will remove the Query from Workbook.
Then in same Tools--> you can see Insert Query click on it and point (select) your new Query.
This will insert the new query in Workbook.
    Save the Workbook.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
Do post back if you face any probs.
    Thanks

  • Insertin a query in a workbook

We are on the new version and I don't see the option under the tools to add a query to a workbook.  Has this featured been removed?
    thanks

    Nikki,
It is up to you where you insert the said items but you might like to consider the following:
    - When you insert the query (analysis grid) it has a tab page where you can define whether the results set should be 'clipped' or added with a scroll bar. This will enable you to insert items around the analysis grid and you can then be sure they will not be overwritten because the results will be 'contained'. The standard setting is 'full size', in which case, anaything underneath / to the right will be overwritten if the query expands so you need to change it.
    - If you want to have persistent changes to the query format then you can do this by changing the excel styles for the relevant query parts and then using the 'Themes' within the 'Workbook Settings' to save and apply them
    - There is no way to enter the variable screen into the worksheet as such. The concept now is that the users enter their variable values and then use the navigation pane to filter the results set - which is not that different from 3.5. So therefore you put the navigation pane / filters etc. in the wrokbook. If you want the user to access the variables then they have to select the button on the 'Analysis' toolbar, or you can create a button that calls the variable screen up using the button wizard (CMD>SHOW_VARIABLE_SCREEN).
    Hope this helps,
    Rgds, Keith

  • How to convert a Query to a Workbook

    Hi,
First is good to know which are the differences between query and workbook :
    In a Workbook:
    -You can have severals querys.
-You can format the report, change the font, colors, etc.
-You can write some Visual Code.
In order to transform a query into a Workbook :
    -Open your Query
-After that, click on the save button and select "Save as new workbook" (you can save it into a role)
-After this, you can change the font, color (to do this, click in the Format Icon).
    Asigns points if useful please.

  • What does the option "can be changed in query navigation"?

    Hi all,
I have created several variables so far, but I never activated this option. I have always ignored that option and everything works fine.
But now I tried to rebuild some variables from other developers and saw this option activated. So before I just copy them, I need to know, what "can be changed in query navigation" really does. I already have read the SAP Help documents but still don't have a clue about the functionality. Thank you for answering!
    Best regards
    T. Duong

If you choose the Can Be Changed with Query Navigation option, after you have run the query, not only are you able to select the values that you specified in the variables screen, but you are also able to use other values as dynamic filters for the query .
This function is not possible if you are using the variable as part of a structure in the query definition. The system ignores the setting Can Be Changed with Query Navigation in this case.
    Hope it helps.

  • Multi Provider Changes - The Query cannot be executed

    Hello,
I added a new characteristic to an existing multiprovider on which queries already exist.
I changed one of the existing queries adding that newly added characteristic.
Now the query cannot be executed. Please see the log...
I could successfully execute the query in RSRT....
    Diagnosis
Characteristic 0BILL_TYPE is used in the Query Designer, but was deleted from the InfoProvider.
    System response
    The query cannot be executed.
    Procedure
Characteristic 0BILL_TYPE is used in the query to be executed even though it was deleted from the InfoProvider. The problem can be solved by changing the query in the Query Designer. Here, you get a repair proposal, which removes the missing InfoObject from the query. Afterwards, check whether or not the query was defined correctly.
You can also delete the query.
    Additional technical information:
    IOBJNM = 0BILL_TYPE
    ELTUID = Sell-In Qty
    ELTTP = SEL
      Notification Number BRAIN 407
    Close
Any siggestions of how to adjust the multiprovider.
    Thanks,
    Vish

The check in query designer says that query is correct.
Only when I try to execute using the web it says that Char doesn't exist in infocube.
The query works fine in Analyzer & RSRT....I guess something got to do with the Browser or web..
    Thanks,
    Vish

  • Bex request can not collect the change of query

    HI every one:
Bex request can not collect the change of query automatically ,eventhough This query has ben transport before and have the same dev class with the Bex request.
when I press the  button to save the change of query  , a dialog was pop up to let me assign one request to this query.
who can help me ?! thanks alot!
    Best regard
    david

    Hi David,
already previous request is transported to Q or P....so when ever u try to change the existing query in BI.. the assigned request is not available in 'D'. so its asking to assign a request. for this
go to transport connection in Admin Workbench>there in right top u willl find a transport symbol for bex> click that for creating a request for bex queries--> after creating that request try to open ur query and do necessary modifications, what ever the modifications you do will come under this newly created request.
reply back if u have any questions
    Thanks and Regards

  • Changing the query on a view object

I have a view object right now, based on an entity. It is the default view object, so that means the query in the view object is straight forward, it grabs all of the attributes from the table. And there is no WHERE clause.
In reality I only want to show a finite set of rows from my table. Every time a record is changed/edited in this entity and committed, a new row in the database is created with the same information (I'm using CreateWithParams) except for a few columns.
I actually don't really have update on this table, just creation of new rows. But to the user, I want it to 'look' like they are editing something in the table.
    Example:
12, 11:32,Thompson, 60 (the user edits this information in an adf table, and a new row is created in the db)
    12, 11:55, Thompson, 75
I have a timestamp (see above) field in the database that is used as part of my primary key, so that I know which record is the latest.
When the VO query is run, I want the user to only see the latest row from the db.
    12, 11:55, Thompson, 75
    So...
I went to my VO, and I changed the WHERE query to add this:
    where t1.TimeStamp = (Select MAX(t2.TimeStamp) FROM rcl.x t2 where t1.uid = t2.uid);
Now, this isn't a mysql/sql question. There's actually a better query that I'd rather run, but the VO editor doesn't allow me to change the query itself....
When I save the new WHERE to my VO, run my page again, I get the expected result (showing me only the latest records).
However, when I try and sort on the table in which my data is displayed, I am now getting ORDER BY errors.
I don't want my VO to be read-only sql based. I want to be able to update my table, so I have my VO running off of the entity.
Why doesn't the VO allow me to change the query itself? (Like do a subquery, instead of having my where clause do the work)
Why are order by errors being thrown when I sort on my adf table after changing the where clause in my view?
Hopefully I wasn't too convoluted in the explanation of my problem..
    Thanks in advance,
    Joel

    HI Joe,
Regarding your problem you can do one of the following tasks:
1- easily to tuning on your view object, I mean in the tuning page of the view you can set that only return 1 record or 2-3 record fetch not all the record.
in the order by you will order by the timestamp field and descending.
2- you can order by the timestamp descending and in the where clause only set the rownum<2 (will return the last record) you can also set rownum<5 and get the 4 last record etc.
3-editing the view query in the expert mode is not advised at all because of many consequences that you will face.
4- maybe it is not bat that you add a readonly view for the table you mentioned and every time you unpdate the entity just re-execute the read-only view.( this method maybe is good maybe is not it depends on your business logic)
    Regards.

    Hello,
You can change the query read mode in transaction 'RSRT', here are the steps:
    1) Access transaction RSRT and enter the query name
    2) Select the 'Properties' option
    3) Un-check the 'Info provider' setting next to the 'Read mode' --> This enables you to change the read mode of the query --> Execute
    4) Choose the option 'Generate Report' to re-generate the query program
    Hope this info helps.
    Thanks
    Bala
