Change smtp port from 25 to 26

Hello.
My ISP is blocking my smtp port 25, so I have been using port forward in my airport. 26-25. The DNS is set up til contact me on port 26.
Now I have a new router, and it doesn't have that feature, so I would like to have my mac server to listen on port 26 as smtp instead.
How do I change that?

You need to add a second listener to your mail server by editing the /etc/postfix/master.cf file. You must do this as root and using a command line editor is recommended. Make a backup of the file first. You do not need to stop mail services to edit the file but you will need to stop and then start mail to make the change recognized.
The line you need to add should look like this:
26 inet n - n - - smtpd
Test it internally after restarting mail services with a:
telnet localhost 26
Hope this helps

  • How to view and change SMTP port number in new account setup in "Mail" 10.6

When I try to set up and test a new email account addressing an SMTP server that seems to e using a nn-standard port number, how on earth can I even look at the port number assigned by default to a new account in Apple Mail 10.6 setup ?
I might have to trial and error different port numbers but when Mail tries to test the connection to the SMTP server after I enter its address, it just spins and hangs up. I suspect the reason is a wrong port number. How do I change that outgoing port number in Apple Mail ??
There seems to be no obvious way the program will let U do it or even let you view the port it assigns in apparent error.

there is no way to change the smtp port during the original account creation. you can usually wait Mail out if it's spinning its wheels at this point. I've had to wait about 15-20 minutes a few times. eventually Mail lets you through even if it fails to connect to the smtp server. then, once the account is created you can edit the smtp server and try a few different ports and settings. that's done in system preferences->accounts. click on teh smtp server at the bottom and select 'edit smtp server list". then in the popup click "advanced".

  • Change SMTP port to 587 doesn't work

    Hi,
my ISP blocks port 25, ok and no problem - not for the iphone.
When i change port 25 to 587 it checks the config - works.
After i gone back in the menu the account list, to save the settings, (still in the settings) and go again to the SMTP settings, port 587 has changed to port 25.
    Using iOS 4.
    Some ideas?
I think the "smash the iphone" method should be the best - self created SSL certs make some problems to the mail.app and so on - very bad. Works under OS X but not on iOS. Never mind, it's ok if i could save atm the port 587.
    Cheers

    Still the same...
Port 465 changes also back to 25.
My provider @ home needs port 25, ever other port won't work.
Outside i have to use port 465 or 587, but these ports don't be saved - i could only send 1 mail (wich is currently pending to send) after change the settings.

  • E-Mail Alerts, Change SMTP Port

I'm trying to set up e-mail alert notifications in Enterprise Manager. I have port 25 heavily used elsewhere, and I beleive this is preventing connection. I cannot conect to port 25 with the telnet test, but I can cannot to port 23. How do I change ports?
    Oracle Database 10.2.0.4

The front end application (SmarTeam PDM) is using port 25 for it's workflow. I havn't tested yet with that service off. I'm just wondering why that server can connect to to SMTP, but the Oracle server cannot?HELP!
    I am easily confused.
Please clarify how many different systems are involved in this discussion, by providing actual hostname & description of their function.
Firewall rules can be such that System A is allowed to initiate a connection with System B using port #25
This same firewall could be configured to prevent System B from initiating a connection on port #25 with System A.
Please clarify the originating system, the terminating system & the port being used/attempted.
I still suspect internal Firewall rules are getting in your way

  • Change SMTP port at LMS 3.2

    Hi all,
Im installing LMS 3.2 and customer smtp server is listening at 26 port.
There's a way to change this default port (25) into LMS to connect to maill.xxxx.com 26 ?
I got this error message cause i didnt connect to 25.
"Invalid IP address or server name for mail server. Please enter a valid SMTP server name or leave the 'SMTP Server' field blank."
    Thks.

I don't think that's possible, but I suggest posting at the other Network Management forum for a definitive answer:

  • Changing smtp port on NS 3.5

Is there a way to change port for smtp on NS 3.5 (yes I don't want to upgrade to v.4)

Well, we used to be able to do this, depending on the platform. We used to use a program, called "patcher" to directly manipulate the binary. Only on solaris.
I doubt that this binary is available anymore.
Messaging Server 3.xx is LONG dead. Messaging Server 4 is also EOSL, meaning End Of Support Life.
Messaging 5.2 and 6.1 are considered "current". I strongly urge you to upgrade.

  • Changing Essbase Port from 1423

Hello everyone. I have a situation where our technology group does some system polling on port 1423. When this happens, it causes the Essbase service (9.3.1 on Windows 32 bit) to shut down. In order to prevent this, I need to get the port number changed by running through the configuration again and assigning a different port for EAS (running on a separate Linux box) and Essbase.
Are there any other changes I would need to make for the client connections? I saw Doug Ware mention in another thread that the Essbase Excel add-in uses that same port. Would I have to tell my users to use the "server:port" if it's assigned to a number other than 1423?
    Thanks,
    Robert

You can use an Essbase.cfg file on the client to assign a different port using the AGENTPORT command, or like you said, use the <server>:<port> entry in the connection dialog. There are probably other ways to do this as well.
Edit: I can't go into too many details here, but the "other ways" usually involves setting the routers up so that access from a particular router would get remapped from port 1423 to your destination port automatically, so any traffic coming in from that source would be re-routed. I'd be tempted to ask if your IT folks could use this to use a different port to monitor that server, since it's likely that the source of that computer could be isolated -- this would require that they remap the listener on your server.
Long story short, the IT department should be the flexible ones in this story -- changing production to allow a support process to remain constant is bass ackwards.

    Hi!
My mail app keeps changing the smtp port from 25 to 547! I dont know how i can fix this..! It happens even though i havent put my macbook pro to sleep, over intervals of a couple of hours. Ive assigned mail to use a custom port 25 because for some reason it doesnt use port 25 when assigned to "Use default ports"..
Any ideas of how to fix? Couldnt find any case like it on the interwebs.. :/

  • Change the SMTP Port number in OIM

    Hi All,
I have an email server that its SMTP port is 135.
    My question is:
How can I change the SMTP Port from 25 to 135 in OIM? Because the notificacions are sent by Port number 25
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ariel

I actually don't have any other ideas on where this could be configured. I think that the port can be changed if you send emails programmatically but if you use the default OIM email system I don't know any other place where this could be configured.
Have you tried opening an SR with Oracle?
    Best regards

  • RV042 Router SMTP port change

Hello, I have an RV042 that I have configured to send alert logs to a comcast email address. Recently comcast changed their SMTP port from 25 to 465. I can't find where to change the port settings in the RV042 to send the router logs via port 465. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for using our forum, my name is Johnnatan and I am part of the Small business Support community. You can change the port number using a port-forwarding or a One-to-One NAT in your device, you can also specify the syslog server, I´ll share with you some documentation about it:

Can anybody , Please let me know the proceudre how to do it ?
    Thanks for help in advance.
    Regards
    James

Ya , Manish you are right IWS 4.1 is really old.
But My application has been developed in past that is using IWS4.1 .
Right now , we are not having budget to migrate it from IWS4.1 to IWS6.1.
And the pointer for changing the port from magnus.conf is also correct but
I need to make it default port.
That means If would not specify any port number out of two port request goes to default one.
Right now default port is 443
But I want it to be 445
    Thanks
