Change the output length of a field?

I have a table that will write a field ] with 18 characters since that’s the length in the table, but instead the content of the field should be copied into a variable which length is 30 characters and then be written in to the text file (as a result blank spaces will be added at the end of the content of the variable).  do i need to declare this in a DATA statement? if so, how?

Hi.
I think its quite similar with a issue I had a time ago and I solved it using copying RESPECTING BLANKS using concatenate command.
It will copy your 18 character fields adjusted to right position and respect blanks in the left side, in TXT file, so respecting 30 characters positions to this field in the file.
e.g.:
If you are trying to concatenate various fields per line into TXT, use this example that worked to me:
LOOP it_table.
your_30_char_field = matnr.
SHIFT your_30_char_field RIGHT DELETING TRAILING space.
concatenate .....field1 field2 field3 your_30_char_field ... fieldN into ls_file RESPECTING BLANCS.
append ls_file to IT_file.
ENDLOOP.
I do not know if you are using gui_download. So it's the case, use this way:
  CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'
    EXPORTING
      filename                  = lc_filename
      filetype                  = 'ASC'       " important
      trunc_trailing_blanks_eol = ''     " Important
    TABLES
      data_tab                  = it_data_out.
best regards.

  • How to fix the output length of a field

    Hi!
    I want to 'allocate' the full length of the field while smartform printing even if it is initial.
    How can I do this? I tried the &field(*)& &field(F<' '>)& output format, but nothing.
    Thanks

    Hi!
    I have only one text element, and in that I have two variables separated only with one space. In the printed form the starting place of the second variable depends on the length of value in the first variable.
    like this:
    The first variable has the dictionay type 'VBELN', despite this fact, the &FIELD(*)& does not work.
    The template doesn't work here too. because I have only one text element.
    Or can I print two text element in one row? It could be a solution probably.

  • Change the maximum length of a field in oracle apps forms.

    Hello all. The form which is used is POXPOEPO(purchase order) and the corresponding field is Supplier note(NOTE_TO_VENDOR).
    The note_to_vendor field is stored in the table po_headers_all .The length of the field which actually is *480bytes* but if we have to enter more than 480char, what we have to do.
    I used the custom.pll and tried to change the property of MAXIMUM_LENGTH using app_item_property2.set_property('PO_HEADERS.NOTE_TO_VENDOR',MAX_LENGTH,500). But there is no such property it seem. Is there a solution to enter more than 480 bytes in the field Supplier note(NOTE_TO_VENDOR).
    Thank in advance.

    Changing the lenght of the note_to_vendor field in the database or form is not advisable.
    You should create a short text attachment at the header or line level.
    Oracle seeded PO printing programs print this attachment on the PO /FAX.
    This attachment can be much longer.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to change the visible length in screen painter?

    Hi Guys,
    we have field in screen which is type to ATWRT but the visible length is set to 11. ATWRT is 30 char.
    Please advise on How to change the visible length in screen painter to make it 30?
    When I try to edit the defined length from 11 to 30. It wont allow me to.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    Try the below method:
    Goto Screen Painter -> Double click on Input-Output field for ATWRT another screen will appear with attributes of Input Output field -> Increase the Visible length Value there. (Option of visible length is below the Name and Text attribut of Attribute windiw.)
    If the Visible length field isn't allowing change then declare it as a Char type instead of taking the DataType for Data Dictionary.
    Thanks,

  • Change the output report in a query SQ01

    Hi all,
    I need to change the output format for a column in a report that was developed using SQ01.
    The column is showing the result YES or NOT and I would like to show X or blank.
    Do you know where I can set this option?
    Thanks and regards

    I don't think there is an option per se, but you can create a local field and assign a value to it based on the value of Yes/No field. Then hide the "original" Yes/No field and display the local one instead. Voila!

  • Changing the output layout of standard transaction FPWLM

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement where we need to change the output layout of the standard transaction FPWLM which is used fo the management of worklist for collecion management.
    In this transaction under the current worklist if we select the worklist ID and display it , work items are displayed in the Grid display. We want to add certain fields here in the output layout of this transaction. We tried adding the fields by selecting the change layout option which displays the list of hidden fields which can be added . But the problem is the field which we want to add is not present in this list.
    Is there any other way to add the fields to the output layout of standard transaction.
    thanks
    regards
    manipal

    Hi Manipal,
    Maybe check IMG under Basic Settings for Collections Management.
    This node contains the sub-node Worklist.
    Two enhancements are availaable here:
    BAdI: Enhancement of Worklist Items on Creation
    BAdI: Enhancement of Worklist Items on Display
    Maybe read the documentation for the nodes to determine if the enhancements will accomplish what you are looking for!?
    Since this component is not active in our installation, I have no experience with this functionality.
    Kind regards,
    Robert

    Hi Vidyanand,
    Did you create the runtime access user using the runtime assistant? Did you select the correct runtime repository (if you have more) to associate your runtime access user with?
    Note that there are 4 database roles being created when you create a runtime repository owner:
    - OWB_A_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_D_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_R_<runtime repository owner>
    - OWB_U_<runtime repository owner>
    If you would grant those roles to a user, then that user becomes an access user for the user with username <runtime repository owner>.
    Note that you can also use the runtime repository credentials to connect to the runtime repository for deployment purposes, but you may not want that because of security concerns.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • Can we change the data type of a field based on the value of the field

    HI Gurus,
    My Requirement is as below -- Could you please guide me
    in the Printable Adobe form -- for ex - as usual for dates fields in the Object Pallette the object type is a date/time field  and for quantity/currency fields corresponding fields are taken
    now in case the either the date, quantity or currency is initial in place of displaying 0.00 or empty date we need to display N/A (Not Applicable)
    for this I would like to change the data type of the field
    to put it simply --
    we need to change the data type of date field from DATE&TIME to Char type to hold N/A or  Quantity field to Char field to hold N/A
    how can we realize this in SAP adobe forms
    Thanks in Advace
    Ramchander Rao.K

    Hello Ramchander,
         You cannot change the data type of the field at run time in Adobe forms because the type of field you choose at the time of design level is associated with the data type itself.
    If you want to achieve your requirement, then your main idea should be to set the data type as CHARACTER itself while designing the field in the adobe form itself. CHAR field will comfortably hold the value of Calculation/amount field, Currency field, Amount, Date, Time HHMMSS, Unit Accuracy, Currency key, Floating point number, Numeric text, Client, Language and many other data types.
    After designing the field as TEXT field in Adobe form you have two options.
    Option 1:
    Select the Date field initially as type TEXT field or CHAR field in Adobe forms.
    Suppose the name of the field is TEXTFIELD1, then write the Javascript code on this field in Initialize event as below.
    if ( this.rawvalue == null )
         this.rawvalue = "N/A";
    If the field is not blank, then it will show the date. Else it will show "N/A".
    Option 2:
    Select the Date field initially as type TEXT field or CHAR field in Adobe forms. Do the formatting part in ABAP itself. It will increase the performance. Avoid Javascript as much as possible.
    Suppose you have a DATE variable l_dats of type DATS. Then take another variable l_date of type CHAR. Then write the below ABAP code.
    MOVE l_dats TO l_date.
    IF l_date IS INITIAL.
         l_date = 'N/A'.
    ENDIF.
    Bind the l_date to the TEXT field in the form.
    Even in this case, if the field is not blank, then it will show the date. Else it will show "N/A".
    But I will suggest you to use Option 2 of keeping the AMOUNT, QUANTITY, DATE, TIME fields etc as CHAR or TEXT fields in Adobe form and do the required formatting in ABAP itself.

  • Changing the background of a text field in adobe interactive forms

    Hello All,
    Is there any way to change the background colour of text field in interactive form dynamically.??
    Thanks,

    Naresh,
    Change the language to JavaScipt in Script Editor of LiveCycle Designer and use the following code to highlight the area of TextField where R,G,B means that you have to give the RGB values of the color you want.
    <YourTextFieldName>.border.edge.color.value = "R,G,B";
    For eg:- If you have a textfield with name TextField1 then this will highlight the TextField1 area in red color.
    if ((TextField1.rawValue==null) || (TextField1.rawValue==""))
      TextField1.border.edge.color.value = "255,0,0";
    You can use this on exit event of Textfield1 or at the submit button where you check the form data.

  • How to change the output directory of .xml files

    Hi,
    There are lots of .xml files generated under
    $ORACLE_AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/xml.
    (ex:/usb/bipub3/oracle/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/xml).
    I found these files are generated in the following operation;
    1.Log in BI Publisher.
    2.Select the Schedules tab.
    I think they are kind of temp files so we will be able to delete them.
    But I'd like to know how to change the output directory.
    Can we change the above directory to other path?
    Regards.

    Why? As that may invalidate support since you configure/alter the deployment.
    The location is specified in oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver.war, so you could go into the war file and alter it.

  • Is it possible to use the status of a checkbox to change the fillcolor of a numeric field?

    I have read through most all of the threads, but found none pertaining to my specific question.  I would like to change the fillcolor of a numeric field based upon the status (on/off) of a checkbox located on a different page.  In other words, if the checkbox is checked I want the numeric field to be yellow with a solid (thin) black border.  I have tried:
    If (CheckBox1.rawValue="1")
    {this.fillcolor="R,G,B";} else
    {this.fillcolor="250,250,250"};
    I haven't gotten the correct RGB values yet for the color I am using, that is why the script has "R,G,B"
    I am pretty new at javascript and have been learning a lot from the forums, but I just can't seem to figure this one out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

    Give this a go...
    // form1.page1.cb::click - (JavaScript, client)
    if (this.rawValue == 1) {
      xfa.resolveNode("form1.page1.nf.ui.#numericEdit.border.fill.color").value = "255,255,0";
      form1.page1.nf.border.edge.color.value = "0,0,0";
    else {
      xfa.resolveNode("form1.page1.nf.ui.#numericEdit.border.fill.color").value = "255,255,255";
      form1.page1.nf.border.edge.color.value = "255,255,255";
    Don't forget to make your form a dynamic form.

  • Can you change the UseNames to a different field? e.g. FirstName+Lastname rather than displayname?

    Can you change the UseNames to a difference field? e.g. FirstName+Lastname rather than displayname?
    I have the problem that all our display names are lastname, firstname so when you join if your name is Fred Bloggs it will announce "Bloggs, Fred is joining the confernce" I'd rather it say "Fred Bloggs is joining the conference"
    I cannot change the display name used in the AD as lastname, firstname is the corporate standard.
