Change to checkmarks

I am brand new to Adobe.  We have Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional.
I have approximately 150 forms with checkboxes that are each defaulting to style = circle, and I need to change them all to checkmarks.  Is it possible to do this with a batch process in version 7.0 and if so, how?
Thank you.

You can change the style of mark with JavaScript, so you can do it in a batch sequence. The field property you want to change is style property: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.724.html
The script would have to loop through the fields in the document and apply this change to check boxes only. You can loop through fields as shown here: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.480.html
Just check the value of the "type" field property and apply the change if it matches "checkbox": http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.729.html

  • How do I change the checkmark color?

    My company is looking to utilize Adobe Standard XI in moving from a paper process to a digital process for our workpapers. Our industry standard is for the reviewer to use a "blue" checkmark when they are reviewing the work of the preparer and the workpapers that have been assembled. When I use the "green" stamp checkmark it lets me edit the transparency of the checkmark but when I select "blue" as the color and mark to use as default box it does not change from green to blue. I have also tried to change the checkmark under the "Sign" tab from "grey" to "Blue" with no luck. I can also change the transparency of this checkmark. Why can I change the transparency but not the color?  Given the wonderful flexability we are finding with Adobe's Annotation features it seems like such a simple feature to have overlooked. Are there any solutions for this?  Two of my bosses have been using blue checkmarks as review marks for 40+ years. Kind of hard to ask them to change because the software can change color of the text, sticky notes and highlight but not the checkmark.
    Thank you for your help.
    Tanya

    Two ways to add a blue checkmark:
    1. Create  a new custom stamp from "Stamps->Custom Stamps->Create Custom stamp..."  with any blue checkmark image.
    2. Change the default properties of the Sticky note icon to Checkmark and color to blue. But here the pop-up is opened each time you add a note.

  • Use ipad2 to play video on Apple TV but cannot get the video to play on the iPad even though I change setting without shutting down and restarting the ipad.

    I have been using my ipad2 to show video on my flatscreen using the Apple TV.  Recently I find that once I use Apple TV I cannot switch back to the ipad for viewing even if I go back to the little rectangular screen and change the checkmark to ipad.  Once this happens all my videos will only play through apple tv.   If I shut down the ipad and restart it I come up in the ipad mode and can view it on the pad.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Not really sure on this one, but one thought I have is how full is your iPad. Have you connected your iPad to iTunes recently.

  • After updating to Mavericks, password can not be changed anymore

    I upgraded to Mavericks and encountered a serious security problem. In system prefs it is no longer possible to change any of the security settings on the "general" tab. It is possible to change the checkmarks, but after closing the sys prefs, the changes are ignored and the screen saver and auto-login checkmarks re-appear. It is also impossible to go to the advanced settings. Off course: I did first click the lock and entered my password.
    Furthermore in the Users and Groups section I can not change my password, name or anything crucial. Clicking the checkmarks or on "change password" does give a short "movement" but nothing happens.
    Is there another cure than reformatting the HDD and have aa clean install? I did use the repair option two times, but that does not change anything anyhow. It even remembers the Safari cache; so far for a repair install. I also manually delete the system prefs cache manually, all with no result
    I would appreciate the help.
    Regards
    Bob

    Hi Bob van A,
    If it is allowing you to make changes in some cases, but not retaining those changes, the first thing I would do would be a permissions repair (unclear if this is what you meant by "use[ed] the repair option", or if you meant a volume repair). You may find the following article helpful:
    Apple Support: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1452
    Also, if it will allow you to create a new admin user, you may want to see if the issue persists in the new user, which will help to narrow down the possible causes.

  • Desktop pictures do NOT rotate/change on secondary display

    For some peculiar reason, my desktop pictures do NOT change / rotate on my secondary display.
    I have a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2007) running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I have dual displays. My primary display (the MBP screen) DOES change / rotate picture every minute, but I want my secondary display to do the same.
    It seems that restarting does fix it, but only temporarily. I think it might have to do with plugging/unplugging the secondary display and sometimes if it's working, I disconnect and reconnect the monitor and then the pictures stop rotating.
    All my desktop picture settings are correct in System Preferences. I tried unchecking then rechecking the "Change picture:" checkmark, but that doesn't fix anything. I also tried clicking on different folders in the left column of the Pref Pane, then clicking back on my chosen desktop pictures folder.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    I discovered that for this particular file if you check the "random order" box under Desktop preferences, then the pictures will rotate like the rest of the photo files in the collection

  • Break on change in watch expression

    Hello,
    is there a reason why one cannot set the check mark 'break on change' from the very beginning but only if the program is running (requiring an additional breakpoint)?
    My scenario: I have added a watch expression for a variable by clicking on the variable in the source code window and subsequently Ctrl+F7. In the watch window, the variable name is shown, but in the field 'Break on Change' no checkmark is shown. Hence I need to add a breakpoint at the first line of main () just to set this checkmark...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Wolfgang,
    In 2013 the "Break On Change" behavour was changed.
    You can read detalied information in Release Notes, section Watch Window.
    Break on Change is available only for watchpoint that represent the contents of a memory adress(LHS expression). If you are not debugging the watchpoint can't be evaluated, the debugger doesn't know the memory adress of that expression.

  • Can I have "All spots to process" checked at all times, even for new spot colors?

    When I check “All spots to process” in the pdf export settings and save my settings the settings remember that I've checked this option. But, if new spot color objects using new spot color swatches are added to the document (or another document) and I go into the pdf export settings the check mark has been changed into a dash (with the actual checkbox highlighted) – signifying that only some of of the spot colors will be changed to process colors during export. I absolutely fail to see how this could possibly be seen as a feature and not a bug … if the user has checked “ALL spots to process” wouldn't the user expect ALL spots to be converted to process colors, rather than just any spot colors that happened to be in the document that happened to be open when the user first checked that checkbox and saved that setting?
    Am I missing something here? What's the point of even having that checkbox as part of your saved export settings if it doesn't include any other spot colors than those used when saving the settings?
    What's the point of having settings if you can't trust them, and still need to manually "override" them every time?
    I see that some users have taken to writing scripts that instead turn all spot colors in the swatch panel to process colors, and while I commend them for creating that workaround, I'm still pissed at Adobe for not getting the function right.
    If this is a feature, who is it for? People who want to add just certain spot colors and turn those into process colors rather than turning all spot colors into process colors are surely better off doing that in the swatches panel, where they're in total control of what's what. And if they don't want to "permanently" change their spot colors to process colors, and prefer to (temporarily) convert them during exporting/printing only, they can do that in the ink manager. But when someone checks convert "All spots to process" couldn't we safely assume they really want ALL spot colors to be converted and not just some of them? I mean, the way that checkbox behaves now, it's like it's a button and not a checkbox. As in: hit the button "All spots to process" to switch all currently viewed spot colors to process colors in the ink manager, OR check the "All spots to process" checkbox to always convert ALL spot colors to process colors during exporting/printing.
    Anyone got any light to shed on this?
    And is there a way to actually get the advertised behavior, because if you have to run a script every time you export/print you might as well just manually select the checkbox every time instead, but either way it's just really unnecessary as far as I'm concerned … Adobe should get the feature right instead.
    If you save a setting and recall it, it shouldn't be possible for that setting to change into something else (in this case changing a checkmark to a dash).
    Clearly CMYK printing is the norm, so for most users it would make a lot of sense to have the "All spots to process" checked most of the time, and then you just go into the swatches panel or the ink manager and set things correctly for those print jobs that really do need spot colors.
    I myself am not one of those who add spot colors to my swatches unless I'm really using them as spot colors, but I often work with magazines and folders featuring adverts made by whoever, and typically there's always at least one advert that features spot colors, and therefore it would be very nice if the "All spots to process" feature actually worked as advertised without any required actions from me.
    We stopped sending ads back to the advertisers for adjustments a long time ago, unless we absolutely had to, because there were so many things wrong with so many ads that it was simply too much work to write back and explain everything to people who most of the time didn't even understand what we were talking about. We found that it was usually a LOT faster and easier to just adapt the ads ourselves, as long as it was something that could be worked out really quickly from within InDesign itself, which pretty much included most typical errors.
    But with this feature I find Adobe is trying to make my job harder rather than easier, and it's pissing me off. Arrrghh… ;-)

    But It's not a preference it's a shortcut
    It's a bad joke, is what it is. ;-)
    So, why in your opinion should it be presented the way it is? I keep saying in it's current functionality it shouldn't be presented the way it is (and that: if it is, it shouldn't work the way it does). If it's not a preference or even a proper checkbox, why present it that way?
    If you put it right next to the table at the top of the window (so that it's directly associated with that information, rather than information right above it) and just called the checkbox “Spot(s) to process” and had it only visually reflect the content of the sleected spot colors in the table, then I'd see your point with likening it to the “Hyphenate” checkbox.
    If a story has two selected paragraphs that uses two different hyphenation settings then the checkbox should present the way it does now, but if you hit the checkbox so that both paragraphs now use hyphenation and create a third paragraph inbetween the two previous ones it better inherit that setting and not turn off hyphenation for the new paragraph (unless of course there's a defined next paragraph style that switches to a style with hyphenation turned off). And if that checkbox said “Hyphenate all paragraphs” instead, then I would expect it to do just that, and not just the selected ones, and not just the current paragraphs but quite literally all paragraphs even newly created ones – otherwise it doesn't do what it says it does, and simply shouldn't be labeled that way.
    And seriously bad interface design aside, you'd have to rename “All spots to process” to “Switch all currently displayed spot swatches listed in the table above to process” to actually describe what that checkbox does. So even if you're a fan of the current functionality, as opposed to one that actually lets the user set and forget a setting like that, and think it's better that users manually check it repeatedly (which I'm not saying that you are, but you're not giving me any feedback suggesting you even see my point of view with any of this, so what do I know?), then why wouldn't you still support an interface that visually matches/signals that functionality better? If it's a “Select all” checkbox supplementing a table containing a column of checkboxes, then present it that way. Don't put it at the bottom of the window next to another checkbox that works just like a regular checkbox and label it “All spots to process” – because that way you are signalling a different behavior.
    Seriously, if I was to do design using the same mentality that Adobe uses when designing their user interfaces it wouldn't be long before I lost all clients. There's a lot to be said for de facto monopolies, I suppose. Oh no, there's nothing wrong with the design, just as long as you accept it on it's own terms and don't compare it to anything relevant, and just as long as you give people enough time to understand and accept it … and surrender to it.
    For real … I wouldn't win one single pitch that way.
    Today's threads have in many ways been a thorough reminder of the following quote from the second link I provided:
    Is there an Internet rule yet stating that even the most obviously indefensible mistake will eventually be defended by someone somewhere? Awful marketing efforts get explained as genius viral campaigns, broken features become solutions.
    And whether or not you're able to see my point of view or not is really besides the point too.
    The real point was, and remains to be:
    That for those who receive lots of ads or other external files that may or may not contain spot colors it would be far more useful to be able to set a checkbox to always convert all spots to process when exporting, than the current functionality is (and I'm not suggesting eliminating the current functionality, just change so it's presented like what it really is, and then just let that separate checkbox do what it says) … causing unnecessary manual action on the user's behalf shouldn't be the business of Adobe – preventing it should.
    And here's further reading on the subject of bad Adobe interface design for those who might feel so inclined. ;-)
    Cheers!

  • JButton CLICKED color

    Hello !
    I know how to change buttons colors with setBackground and setForeground, but I can't find a way to change the clicked color. It's always that basic grey.
    Another question while I'm here...: I have a similar problem with checkboxes colors : the checkmark remains the original color, so I can't see if it's on or off, as I put black as foreground color (and the checkmark is black...). The foreground color doesn't change the checkmark's color.
    Thanks for your help !
    C14

    I forget if the API for jcomponent/jbutton/jcheckbox suppots that. For the checkbox, I had to extend JCheckBox an doverride paint.
    For JButton you may want to do something like that as well:
    class MyButton extends JButton
    pulic void paintComponent(Graphics g)
    super.paintComponent(g);
    // do your code here
    Not sure if that will work, you want to call parent to paint the button, but there may be a state identifier to see if its in a clicked state.

  • Creeping Higher Storage Usage -- Accumulating Errors (in Categorization?)

    I noticed that my iPod nano 5G was using too much storage for what I knew had been synced (by checkmark) in the whole of my iTunes library.
    Usage of the 8 GB storage was:
    Audio -- 3.2 GB (600+ >= 128 kbps mp3s)
    Video -- 0.20 GB (a news podcast or two)
    Other -- 3.5 GB (I think podcasts from language learning sources)
    Free -- 0.75 GB
    It was the Other category that made me think too much storage was used.
    So I did a Restore. iTunes version did not change, and the downloaded iPod software version (1.0.2) did not change.
    Then when all the syncing was done, with no change of checkmarking! this is what happened
    Audio -- 3.2 GB (600+ >= 128 kbps mp3s)
    Video -- 0.54 GB*
    Other -- 0.21 GB
    Free -- 3.5 GB
    * on the Video categoray: a couple of news podcasts had been downloaded during restore & sync, no surprise here
    Note the DRAMATIC---even MELODRAMATIC---increase in FREE storage! This suggests to me that iTunes management of content is error (bug)-ridden. It miscategorizes or even loses track of content to be removed or added in the synchronization.
    It also suggests to me that ALL USERS of Apple devices managed by iTunes should probably do a Restore operation periodically so that iTunes can do check its twenty.

  • Generic decorator factory

    I'd like to create a generic interface for a factory that decorates objects with a given interface.
    Basically my decorated objects are of the same type then the non-decorated objects and additionally they implement an interface. The interface in question is "CheckMarkable".
    I was thinking about declaring the interface for my factory like this:
    public interface CheckMarkableFactory<E, CheckMarkableE extends E & CheckMarkable>
        CheckMarkableE decorate(E objToDecorate);
    }But I get the following error: "Cannot specify any additional bound CheckMarkable when first bound is a type parameter".
    Changing E & CheckMarkable to CheckMarkable & E won't help because I get the following error instead: "The type E is not an interface; it cannot be specified as a bounded parameter".
    As a workaround, I can always do this:
    public interface CheckMarkableFactory<E>
        /** Assumes that the returned value implements CheckMarkable */
        E decorate(E objToDecorate);

    public interface CheckMarkableFactory<E>
        /** Assumes that the returned value extends E */
        CheckMarkable decorate(E objToDecorate);
    }But in both cases I need to cast my objects either to CheckMarkable or to their initial type (E)...
    I was wondering if there is a way to prevent these casts by enforcing the factory to create CheckMarkable objects of the same type than the passed objects...

                    _mensaje = ex.Message;
                    Console.WriteLine(_mensaje);
    attached is the screen shot with the checkmark that I want to disable with SDK code.
    Many thanks.

    Hi Pablo,
    Actually the amount has to match the amount due or else you'll have a payment to account to balance the transaction.
    I see you only have SumApplied = 123. Make it match the balance due.

  • Changing Translucent Menu Bar Checkmark?

    I'm relatively new to Applescript and Automator. I know enough Applescript to simplify some shell scripts I run occasionally, among other things. I know it's possible to change System Preference preferences, so how would I be able to toggle Menu Bar transparency via Applescript using the System Preferences checkbox in Desktop & Screensaver > Desktop ?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    You must use [GUI Scripting|http://www.macosxautomation.com/applescript/uiscripting/index.html], since the System Preferences do not have AppleScript support. The script below should toggle the menu bar transparency.
    tell application "System Preferences" to activate
    tell application "System Events"
    tell process "System Preferences"
    tell menu bar 1
    tell menu bar item "View"
    delay 0.5
    tell menu 1
    click menu item "Desktop & Screen Saver"
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    tell window "Desktop & Screen Saver"
    tell tab group 1
    tell group 1
    click checkbox "Translucent Menu Bar"
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    end tell
    delay 0.5
    keystroke "w" using command down
    end tell
    If you experiment any problem with the script, first try changing the delays from 0.5 to 1 second.

  • I can't print anymore, the "help" button doesn't work, and Firefox always sets to "Never Remember History" even if I change it

    SO many issues with Firefox now! For one, it crashes quite a bit. I submit the crash report, and go from there. Keeps happening. But the main thing is this:
    I go to "Options" and under "Privacy" it has "Never remember history" - I change it to "use custom settings for history", hit "ok" and then when I go back to it, it's back on "never remember history" already. What gives?
    The issues I'm having right now is that I used to click on Print in my email (Yahoo) and pop-up blocker would stop it, but a dialog would pop up saying "try again", and I would hit that, and a separate window would open where I could print the email. Now, when I click on print, NOTHING happens. No box, no changes whatsoever. No pop-ups blocked, nothing at all. I mean, the button for "print" doesn't even react like I clicked on it. Nothing happens.
    The other issue is that when there's a text box, if I start to type my email address, it suggests my email address. It never used to do this! I don't want this, either. How can I stop the suggesting of my email address. I don't want it to remember what I typed!
    Another issue with Firefox is that when I click on the "menu" button in the top right, there's a question mark that says "open help menu" at the bottom. When I click on that, the help menu is EMPTY. I included a picture so you can see.
    I've "reloaded Firefox", as well as downloaded another copy and actually reinstalled it. All these errors keep happening. How can I get them to stop or function correctly? What's causing them to work all wonky?

    The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
    Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
    If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
    "Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
    You need to remove the checkmark on "Always use private browsing mode" to leave Private Browsing mode or chose the "Remember History" setting.
