Change User ID Number
Hi all,
It is possible to adjust uid of SAP User on AS/400.
I find Note 818091 to show how adjust Group ID.
If we want to adjust UID but not effect current security setting , is it possible?
Best Regards,
Wu
Hi Wu,
I was trying to perform the UID change on a user profile in order to find out what was happening, but then I realized that I cannot change the UID of the user profile if the profile owns objects in directories. The attempt resulted in error message CPF22DC: "Not allowed to change UID of the user profile. Cause: The UID of a user profile may not be changed when the profile is the owner of an object in a directory."
The only way to change the UID would be to perform the following steps:
1. Create a temporary user profile with CRTUSRPRF.
2. Delete the SAP profile using DLTUSRPRF with parameter OWNOBJOPT(*CHGOWN <temp. user profile>)
3. Create the SAP profile again, specifying the UID and GID explicitely. It may be the easiest to use the command CRTSAPUSR from the kernel library in order to get the parameters right.
4. Delete the temporary user profile using DLTUSRPRF with parameter OWNOBJOPT(*CHGOWN <SAP user profile>)
This whole operation is a bit tricky, especially if there are locks on objects that are owned by the user profile. So before starting all that, please reconsider if you really need to use a special UID for that user profile. At this point in time it may be easier to leave the uid as it was generated and set the uid explicitely to this value on the other servers.
By the way, as long as you don't connect to a server through NFS, you don't really need to worry about the UID value.
Kind regards,
Christian Bartels.

Environment: Lync 2013 backend; Lync 2010 and Lync 2013 clients. Enterprise Voice not implemented. November 2013 CU Applied on Server.
Issue: Lync user (User A) phone number changed in AD but still showing old number for others days later.
Believed Cause: User A has not logged into Lync since change to republish new phone number?
So after reading this http://masteringlync.com/ I am beginning to think that something I perceived as an issue may actually be by design?
Action:
User A work phone number changed in AD. User A has only one phone entry in AD. Normalization rule in place to basically leave number unchanged (working)
Result:
New phone number propogated fine to Exchange/Outlook fine. Old number displaying only in Lync client when viewing User A contact card detail
Lync 2010 Client displays only old number when looking at Client A contact detail (this client only presents phone numbers if they are actually normalized)
Lync 2013 Client displays two work numbers.
One that we identify as a "display number" just as entered in AD - this shows correctly as the new number. Another that we identify as the "normalized number" which is still the old
number (same as 2010 Client)
Same results whether contact is saved in Lync Client or not and is not related to Outlook contacts - in fact one test was with a Lync account that is not Mail Enabled.
I did a dbanalyze to view the SQL database detail for User A and see that Category 'userInformation' has the old phone number and the time stamp on it seems to coincide with a Lync Cllient database change (user login or refresh on that end) so this seems
to futher confirm my findings thus my reaching the point of conceding it might be out of my control.
My Question I guess is ....
Have others discovered this? Is this a bug or do normalized phone numbers actually requre a client login to accept/republish the number correctly to others even though the information is updated in AD? User detail and how it propogates seems to
be the biggest mystery and it gets harder and harder to explain to users why changes aren't displaying accuralely. Thanks Richard... your blog definitely hit home with what I was seeing but guess I just didn't want to accept that as the end of the road on this. I'm still in a little misbelief that client interaction is necessary to update a backend change.
This process really makes phone numbers in Lync an unreliable source given a user will never know if it is it up to date. And the problem with Lync 2013 client is it shows both numbers in the client ... the address book one with the
updated AD numbers and the one the normalized AD one that the user has to login to republish. I now more fully understand the process but trying to explain that to users when they see different work numbers .. ugh.
Oh well, guess the important part is to understand the process so thanks again. -
I want to understand if we change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts, then what would be the impact on existing profile. Whether we need to change it manualy or it will connect to same profiles in terminal
session.
As i observed it create new profile after logon name changed to employee number where existing users profile settings get fails to load and prompt for new settings (such as outlook reconfiguration, share drive mapping etc.).
Kindly let me know the proper process to overcome with this, how to connect same existing roaming profile with employee number format change.Hi,
What if we change the user name of user account, will it have impact on roaming profiles.
Yes, it will affect roaming profiles. Please rename the roaming profile folder as the new user account name, in addition, change the profile path in ADUC.

How do I change my phone number on my Apple ID account? Not the number for billing. I got a new Ipod touch and when I was setting it up my emails where correct but the phone number was wrong. The gentlemen at the Apple Store told me just to go on my account on my computer and change it but i cant find where. Only part i know how to change is the billing number. Thanks.
If you can remember them their current answers you can login here and change them : https://appleid.apple.com , click on 'Manage your Apple ID' and then 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of your account's page
If you can't remember their answers and you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if the instructions on this user tip helps you get them reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551 -
How can I check who changed a room number for an Asset?
Hi people!
I'm working as BASIS and in december we make a restore from production to another environment to make some test.. a user tell me that in transaction AS03 for an specific Asset number and company code the number of the room are diferent. For example he tell me that if he go to production and check the same asset for the same company code that he check in the test environment the room are diferents.. I think that maybe someone change it because 'is a restore'... I think that is imposible that this is caused by the restore.
Someone knows how can I check in some transaction or table who change this room number?
Thanks a lot for your help!!As stated by Eli, only where there is approval process involving workflow for any changes to the master, then it will be stored temporarily, till the approval process completes.
If there is no approval process in the system (no workflow), them it immediate updates the database.

RE: (forte-users) Optimal number of records to fetch fromForte C ursor
The reason why a single fetch of 20.000 records performs less then
2 fetches of 10.000 might be related to memory behaviour. Do you
keep the first 10.000 records in memory when you fetch the next
10.000? If not, then a single fetch of 20.000 records requires more
memory then 2 fetches of 10.000. You might have some extra over-
head of Forte requesting additional memory from the OS, garbage
collections just before every request for memory and maybe even
the OS swapping some memory pages to disk.
This behaviour can be controlled by modifying the Minimum memory
and Maximum memory of the partition, as well as the memory chunk
size Forte uses to increment its memory.
Upon partition startup, Forte requests the Minimum memory from the
OS. Whithin this area, the actual memory being used grows, until
it hits the ceiling of this space. This is when the garbage collector
kicks in and removes all unreferenced objects. If this does not suffice
to store the additional data, Forte requests 1 additional chunk of a
predefined size. Now, the same behaviour is repeated in this, slightly
larger piece of memory. Actual memory keeps growing until it hits
the ceiling, upon which the garbage collector removes all unrefer-
enced objects. If the garbage collector reduces the amount of
memory being used to below the original Miminum memory, Forte
will NOT return the additional chunk of memory to the OS. If the
garbage collector fails to free enough memory to store the new data,
Forte will request an additional chunk of memory. This process is
repeated untill the Maximum memory is reached. If the garbage
collector fails to free enough memory at this point, the process
terminates gracelessly (which is what happens sooner or later when
you have a memory leak; something most Forte developpers have
seen once or twice).

Subject: (forte-users) Optimal number of records to fetch from Forte
Cursor
Hello everybody:
I 'd like to ask a very important question.
I opened Forte cursor with approx 1.2 million records, and now I am trying
to figure out the number of records per fetch to obtain
the acceptable performance.
To my surprise, fetching 100 records at once gave me approx 15 percent
performance gain only in comparsion
with fetching records each by each.
I haven't found significant difference in performance fetching 100, 500
or
10.000 records at once.In the same time, fetching 20.000
records at once make a performance approx 20% worse( this fact I cannot
explain).
Does anybody have any experience in how to improve performance fetching
from
Forte cursor with big number of rows ?
Thank you in advance

According to your description, you are going to figure out what is the optimal number of records per partition, right? As per my understanding, this number was change by your hardware. The better hardware you have, the more number of records per partition.
The earlier version of the performance guide for SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services Performance Guide stated this:
"In general, the number of records per partition should not exceed 20 million. In addition, the size of a partition should not exceed 250 MB."
Besides, the number of records is not the primary concern here. Rather, the main criterion is manageability and processing performance. Partitions can be processed in parallel, so the more there are the more can be processed at once. However, the more partitions
you have the more things you have to manage. Here is some links which describe the partition optimization

RE: (forte-users) Optimal number of records to fetch fromForte Cursor
Guys,
The behavior (1 fetch of 20000 vs 2 fetches of 10000 each) may also be DBMS
related. There is potentially high overhead in opening a cursor and initially
fetching the result table. I know this covers a great deal DBMS technology
territory here but one explanation is that the same physical pages may have to
be read twice when performing the query in 2 fetches as compared to doing it in
one shot. Physical IO is perhaps the most expensive (vis a vis- resources)
part of a query. Just a thought.

so that i can install oracle Data base and tomcat on
same machine.Just make sure Tomcat is running while you install Oracle, and it should find the port in use.
Otherwise, turn tomcat off, install using port 8080, and use the sqlplus command 'exec dbms_xdb.sethttpport(8090); to change the port to 8090 after the fact.
Before installing:
1) On WIndows, use a LOCAL machine administrator, not a domain administrator or non-admin user;
2) On Windows, turn off all firewalls before installing; on Fedora, turn off SELinux;
3) If there was a previous Oracle on the machine, on windows make sure the registry is clean. -
