Change with services get included in Settings for Everyone

Hello!
I've noticed that with Server 3, I can no longer delete VPN from the profile that gets created for Everyone. This makes the Settings for Everyone kind of useless because now an administrator is requried to install the profile because of the VPN. In ML/Server 2.2.2, I would simply delete VPN from the Settings for Everyone profile.
Is there a way in Server 3 to alter which services get included in the Settings for Everyone?

Apple's thinking here is definitely confusing, I'd rather everything auto push the way one would expect (and I'd like to be able to lock out the profiles setting on ios devices like I can on Mac os devices too...but that's a whole other conversation).
To answer your question about how to configure services in a group profile (user, not device group) like VPN, Contacts, Calendar etc, to match those that are preconfigured in the "Settings For Everyone" profile, you need to include an "Identifcation" payload in the profile. If you take a look at the "Settings For Everyone" Profile in profile manager, you'll see it has an "Identifcation" payload that uses a variable of %shot_name% in the "User Name" field.
In your group profile's identification payload, you simply need to plug in variables into the correct fields. A list of variables can be found at http://nwalker.org/2012/10/the-complete-guide-to-profile-manager-part-1/ and it's got some good information about getting started with profile manager
In our ident. payload, We've got User Display Name and User Name set to %short_name% and Email Address set to %email%. Leaving the password field blank will cause a prompt to appear on the user's computer when a password is needed.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Yes, it's frustrating.
I don't have my iPod with me but, as I recall, the change is done in Settings/Store. That change will apply to NEW purchases. However, be aware that all purchases are permanently associated with the Apple ID that was originally used. Generally, it's only a problem when you need to update an app. IF you do your updating from iTunes and your logged in to the "wrong" ID, you'll need to log out and back in again. It's easier from the iPod as you do not need to log out/in but you do need to know the password.
Unfortunately, you can not merge IDs nor can you transfer purchases from one ID to another. Go here to find out exactly what you have. I have the same problem so I deliberately made both passwords identical to make things slightly easier for me.

I can't get into the settings for fonts. How do I do that to change the font size?

I had downloaded the latest updated version of Firefox and I ended up syncing it to my Android phone. I went into some kind of settings dialog and accidentally changed my font and text settings and now I can't read any of my Gmail that's in my account on my desktop computer-it's too small. I'm trying to figure out how I can get into the content settings (I have the print out of what I'm to do once I get into the 'options' on the content settings page, but I don't know how to bring up the content settings menu/page). I use my desktop PC for work purposes and I can't use it with the font and text settings the way they are now. I also read where questions are being answered, but no one knows how to find the answers to the questions people are asking. How do we get to the answers that people give us about the question we have asked?
I hope you can help me ASAP so I can change what I need to ASAP. I work on my pc 24/7 for work and it's not helping me when I can't read emails and I can't fix the problem.

I followed the directions that were given to me in this forum. The only difference on my desktop PC computer after you click on the three lines at the top right of the screen after signing into your g-mail account, it will bring up the menu and you click on the 'Options' tab. I'm on G-mail and I'm running windows 7 Home Premium; there wasn't a preference tab and the percentage was already set at 100%. It takes you straight to the options menu. You then click on the 'Content' tab if it's not already open, change your font and font size to what you want, and then click OK. It reset those items for me and now I can read my emails. I noticed if you change the font type and size to something other than Times New Roman-size 16 (default font & size), you may have to change the size of font to a higher number (i.e. Arial-18 font size). You just have to adjust them for your preference if you want something other than Times New Roman-font size 16.

How do I get the configuration settings for GPRS mms ect for EE

My son-in-law got a new iphone4s as an upgrade from EE/orange on Tuesday 18th feb 2014
It was an upgrade for his sim only contract changed to a phone and sim
The first phone he had was a samsung galaxy s3 mini but he couldn't get used to it as had used his old iphone4 for over 4 years before it died
The samsung galaxy s3 mini was sent back and a nice shiny iphone4s was sent out instead and he got it on the date up top
The sim that came with the iPhone keeps saying invalid for some reason?
But the sim he got with the sg3 mini works but has no configuration settings for the iphone4s in it only for the sg3 mini
We have tried online looking for the settings for wap/GPRS/mms/edge ect to send via SMS but can't seem to find anywhere that works?
Can anybody help please?

[Solved] trouble getting the right settings for a static IP

I'm not sure of how to best set my static IP connection in Arch.
In Manjaro/Ubuntu/etc. I use the Network Connections App and put in my IP, Subnet mask, Gateway and DNS. When I've tried to do it in the commandline to set up Arch, I get a "cannot make connection" error (or something of that sort) when I put in the gateway.
Relevant info for my connection (with XXX and YY standing in for numbers) - this is what I enter for Manjaro/Ubuntu (and what I attempted to use in the commandline to setup Arch - though I added the subnet mask /24 for the IP):

Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: XXX.YY.31.1
The output of "ip route show" in a correctly configured/connecting instance of Manjaro on my system is:

How do I get white balance settings for my Olympus cameras in Aperture?

I have an E-500 and E-510. I was able to figure out from previous posts how to get the white balance listing in the metadata. The information it provides is a 0 or a 1. My sense is that the 0 could represent the auto white balance setting and the 1 any other setting. I have 7 possible settings for white balance on my camera. Is it possible to get specific white balance settings listed in the metadata for my cameras. Thank you for any help.

I can tell you how to display it; I haven't set out to find out what the numbers mean, although that would be pretty easy to do.
Select the Metadata Tab. At the pop-up in the top left select "List-Expanded." Then select from the Gear pop-up in the upper right "Edit List-Expanded." A whole set of options will appear, including White Balance. Check the box and it will be added to the List-Expanded.

Bluetooth protocol changes with iPhone upgrade to 3.0 for hearing aid?

I have hearing aid (Phonak) along with the iCom device that connects my aids to my iPhone via bluetooth (allows me to hear calls in both ears and be handsfree too). I upgraded to 3. now every time I read my email (no phone use), I get the audible beeps indicating a changing of my hearing aid settings and somewhat interferes with the quality of the sound. I never had this issue before. I have reset the iPhone, removed and reattached/discovered the iCom adapter. So I am wondering if the bluetooth protocol was changed with the upgrade?

Yes I have a first gen iphone and have not had any problems with any of the new firmware upgrades, until this one.
However it was a simple issue that I believe was related to the activation server. At the end of the update process the phone is supposed to restart then contact the activation server and re-activate. Instead mine hung up at this point and I got an error that itunes could not connect to my phone.
To fix it I disconnected the phone, restarted the phone and itunes, reconnected the phone and it activated itself and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Do it, the improvements are well worth the effort. I especially like the landscape keyboard in email.

Your first statement explains the second statement. To use the German iTunes Store, you need to prove that you're a resident of Germany (that is required by the content owners who will not allow cross-border sales) and the only way Apple can provide such a verification is by requiring that you enter in either a German credit card or a German-purchased iTunes prepaid card. Since I presume the former is not a possibility, you'll need to do the latter if you wish to purchase content from the iTunes Store. Again, this is not Apple's choice but is forced on them by the content owners as a requirement for Apple being allowed to sell the content. The EU is working on regulations that would force the content owners to allow access pan-EU, but that's still in the works.
You do not need an iTunes Store account to activate and run your iPad, though; at least, I didn't need one for either of my two iPads. If you only want to set up an account so you can get free iPad apps, take a look here:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is apparently critical. This seems to come and go, or only apply to App Stores in specific countries, so you may not see the option for "None" when asked for a payment type.

Help with computer setup and PP settings for faster/better previews

I have been using Cyberlink PowerDirector software for video editing. It is very easy to use and can do quite a bit. It was also accelerated by Intel HD graphics built into my system, so I could see a lot of my work at a pretty high resolution in real time.
However, I wanted to see what PP was capable of, specifically the Warp Stabilizer.
So I downloaded PP and have been trying to use it, but it was just slow as heck to preview anything (chop stop chop stop...), with render times being insanely long (12 hours for five minutes of footage vs. about 30 minutes with PowerDirector).
Thinking it was a problem with my system and I needed to get a real graphics card, I got an EVGA GTX 670 (FTW) for $400, and popped it in. I modified the text file so PP would see it as a compatible card, opened up PP and changed the engine to the new card.
Things are faster, but I was expecting a lot more. Here's what I'm doing:
1. Shooting Canon 5D mark II (now III) clips 20-60 seconds long, 1080p.
2. Import to PP and sequence them.
3. Adding effects:
     A. Top adjustment layer for fast color correction (white balance)
     B. Next adjustment layer: 3-way color, shadow/highlight, unsharp mask, fast blur
     C. Video 1 layer has the clips with warp stabilizer applied to each, and dissolves.
My final output will be 720p. ( I shoot 1080p so the Warp Stabilizer will have more to work with, and I can crop without feeling like I'm degrading quality).
My system: i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, GTX 670 graphics, 120GB SSD "Max IOPS", 2TB 7200rpm internal, 2TB 7200rpm external (USB 2.0, backup drive).
I can currently preview at 1/4 res in realtime. I would really like to be able to get to 1/2 res (of course full would be great). One thing that worries me is that GPU-Z indicates that my GPU is only running at about 2% while previewing, while CPU usage is at around 50%. I was under the impression that the Mercury thing would use GPU/CUDA to process previews and effects that are supported (that includes Warp Stabilizer).
I've looked at Sequence Settings and fiddled with Preview File Format and size, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I'm currently looking around at codecs (Cineform, DNxHD), but don't know if those can help.
What settings should I alter to get better previews?

Well I'm still pretty clueless about this, but for anyone who is looking at this and wondering, here's what I've gleaned:
1. After Effects, especially CS6, makes much more and better use of graphics cards than does Premiere Pro. I'm guessing that PP will, in future versions, make better use of them. For now, no need to spend more than a couple hundred bucks on one.
2. Update the software. PP and AE both performed substantially better after installing the .01 update from adobe. After you install the update, be sure to re-do the CUDA hack, if necessary.
3. As it stands, money for a PP system is best spent on a processor, as in the newest Intel (currently Ivy Bridge), and overclocked. This is where performance happens. I'd say on a 2012 system, 16 GB RAM should be considered a minimum for video editing, and 24 or 32 if you can afford it. More than that probably won't be utilized. Hard disks can affect performance, but I don't think it's a bottleneck unless you're doing something that requires VERY fast/large reads and writes (4k source?). Most people who have high-end editing stations also have a bunch of drives in RAID, but if you look at the performance chart, the SECOND highest scoring tester did not use RAID (though did use a presumably fast and large SSD).
Keep in mind that all of this has to do with RENDER speeds. I still don't know what the bottleneck is for PREVIEWS, but I'm just going to assume it's the same.

Cannot enable ePrint Web Services - get internet connection error for HP LaserJet 1102W

I have a HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. We just changed over to Comcast internet service from AT&T where my HP LaserJet 1102W was set up for ePrint. After several hours, I was finally able to add the 1102W printer to the Comcast network, access the Embedded Web Server tool and print wirelessly but I cannot set up ePrint. I have deleted the printer but cannot get it to connect to Web Services. I keep on getting: Connection Error. Check Internet Connection but again, I can print wirelessly successfully to the printer but would like to be able to set it back up for ePrint. My Comcast router is an Arris TG862.
I have updated the firmware and used the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool but still am not able to get the ePrint Web Services to connect. Here is the information from the Networking page of the EWS:

I understand that you're not able to enable web services on your printer. I would try steps listed below.
1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
3. Select networking tab at the top.
4. Left hand side select Network Identification.
5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.

Where can I get great dynamics settings for rock recordings?

Hi Folks,
I'm not familiar with using all the different dynamics settings but I know they're crucial for getting pro sounding mixes. Is it normal practice to compress and or limit individual tracks and the entire stereo output simultaneously? Too much seems to create a warbled sound on the transients. I guess what I'm really asking for is a good starting point for drums(ran in stereo from a plugin) and bass guitar. Thanks a lot for any advice.

Dynamics are a very complicated thing to start with as a beginner. And it should be the last thing to think about after you have done everything else: Make sure the signal is mixed perfectly, EQ-ing, preparing FX to use later on, panning, etc.
It's also good to treat the drum set individually if possible. If your drum plugin has multiple outputs, use them. By doing this, you'll have separate tracks for base drum, snare drum, hi hats, cymbals and toms.
I wouldn't apply strong dynamic FX on a stereo sum - the result maybe less good than an uncompressed signal.
Start with applying a little compression to the base drum. Restrict yourself to it until you get experience how the compression alters the signal.
As for the stereo sum, use a little limiter on it to cut away the peaks that might clip your signal. Later, you might want to look for a multiband compressor that treats every frequency band individually so that a pumping base drum cannot make the compressor duck away the trebles. Since Logic express has no good multiband compressor, you might want to install slim slow sliders C3 multiband compressor, which is free (google for it).
And keep your time - learning to apply dynamics isn't about "who can give me a nice template?", because there simply isn't such a thing as a template for good compression.
A good effect should only be heard if you turn it off. Don't overdo it.

Issue with not getting mail in sost for the PR Approvers

Hi all,
I have the following requirement
Currently, requisitioner receives workflow email notification each time the PR has been released. If a PR has 3 approvers, the requisitioner receives 3 identical emails. The problem is that from the email alone, the requisitioner does not know if the PR has been fully released or not. After the first email, requisitioner may try to create the PO when in fact the PR is not fully approved yet.
The case here is when the requisition is created, the mail is sent to first approver to release the requisition and when the first approver releases, mail is sent to next approver and so till all the approvers approve, finally after all the approvals it is sent to requisitioner.
For this I have created an activity GET PR status where i am checking the condition based on release indicator.
When the release indicator is '2' then the final notification is sent to the requisitioner.
The process is working fine in dev system. When there are three approvers and all the approvers have same mail Id when i create the requisition and release manually in me55, I am able to see the mail in sost. This is actually done after running the batch program. But when the approvers have different mail Id's im able to see in swia but not in sost.
Any help is appreciated.

My bad, I have assessed the issue differently.
Yes im sending a single mail to the requisitioner after all the approvals.
But the issue here is after the requisition is created, the first mail is going to the first approver. When the approver releases, the mail that has to go to next approver is shown in swia.
Now when i run the batch job, it has to appear in sost. But, it is not.
The whole process actually working fine in DEV system but in QAS, it is not.
Is is showing the following message when i manually release the order and tested

I'd agree with Mike, go for the latest versions (from wls 10 onwards), we're using ALDSP 3.2, ALSB 3.0 and WLS 10mp1. I think you'd have to go back to ALSB 2.5 to run on WLS 8.1 and this doesn't have the performance or functionality. (we started with ALDSP 2.5/WLS 8.1 and ALSB 2.6/WLS 9.2)
