Changing LookAndFeel for JSP

Can some1 help me in changing the LookAndFeel of a JSP page?? What i want to do is create JButtons, JTextfields etc..... with a new LookAndFeel..just like we do for a swing JFrame...how can I do this for a jsp page ??

I want hardware access on the server and not the client browserWell that makes things easier for you, you wont need to bother with an applet, you can use jsp.
I have coded for accessing the hardware ports on server by using JavaOk so you have classes written already.
You can access these classes / methods from your jsp page, however you will have to take out all the GUI stuff, so it is just the code for accessing the ports left in the classes.
You then create your user interface using html etc. in a jsp page.
Within your jsp you can call the methods of your java classes to embed information into the html.
If you read up on accessing java beans, this will show you how to access your classes (even though your classes are not beans).

  • Changing LookAndFeel for a single component

    Is it possible to change the LookAndFeel for a single component (example FileChooser) ?
    regards,
    nirvan.

    In the case of a file chooser: you can use JFileChooser which will use the current look and feel or you can use the old AWT FileDialog which will use the system's look and feel. The FileDialog naturally has less things you can do with it.Thanks for thre reply. Actually I want to use windows look and feel for the JFileChooser dialog, because the metal look and feel does not display default icons associated with file type. Right now I am switching to the windows look and feel just before the JFileChooser code and then when file choosing is done, switching back to metal look and feel. Is that alright or does that have any potential implications ?
    regards,

    Well, putting all that Java code into a JSP was a bad idea in the first place, just on general design principles. But you've done it in such a way that the result of compiling the JSP is malformed Java code. Frankly I would just throw it away and put the Java code into a servlet or some other Java class, where it belongs.
    But if you're really working in a place where nobody has learned anything since 2003, and you're forced to support that old junk, then I would point out that the error occurs before the place which generates this line:
    import java.util.*;You only need to look at two of the thousand lines of code you posted.

  • Unable to compile class for JSP

    Please can anyone help me to solve this.
    Actually,this is the condition.
    In my db,there is a table called UserPassword, which has 4
    fields(empNo,UserName,password,level). Now I want to do these things:
    When the user submits the data to create a new account via HTML form, it submits the data to the file called CreateAcc.jsp. In this file it perform some logic,here are they.
    1)To check the empNo,if it is already exist in the DB,
         if empNo =exist then display error.(record already exist)
         if empNo =notexist then do task 2).
    2)check the UserName,if it is already exist in the db,
         if UserName=exist then display error.(because it's a primary key)
         if UserName=notexist then do task 3).
    3)Create a new user account and save it to the db.
    To do these tasks,I never create a new objects for the tasks 1) and 2).
    only for task 3)create an object.
    Is it the right way?
    Here is the file CreateAcc.jsp
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%@ page import="core.UserAccManager" %>
    <%@ page import="data.UserPassword" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="UserAccManager" class="core.UserAccManager" scope="session"/>
    <jsp:setProperty name="UserAccManager" property="*"/>
    <jsp:useBean id="UserPassword" class="data.UserPassword" scope="session"/>
    <jsp:setProperty name="UserPassword" property="*"/>
    <%
    String nextPage ="MainForm.jsp";
    if(UserPassword.verifyEmpno()){
         if(UserPassword.verifyUsername()){
              if(UserPassword.createAcc()) nextPage ="MsgAcc.jsp";
          }else{
               nextPage="UserNameExist.jsp";
          else{
              nextPage="UserAccError.jsp";
    %>
    <jsp:forward page="<%=nextPage%>"/>The directory structure:
    UserPassword.java- F:/Project/core/data/UserPassword.java
    UserAccManager.java - F:/Project/core/UserAccManager.java
    Now both are compiling.I put the class files into the TOMCAT,as follows.
    UserAccManager.class - webapps/mySystemName/WEB-INF/classes/core/
    UserPassword.class - webapps/mySystemName/WEB-INF/classes/core/data/

    Are there any mistakes? If so tell me where is it and how to change them.Please help.

    I try it that way, but it don't compile.
    Error:core\data\UserPassword.java:package javax.servlet does not exist
    import javax.servlet.*;
    core\data\UserPassword.java:package javax.servlet.http does not exist
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    So,I comment them only in the UserPassword.java file,and compile it again.
    Then it compile well.I goto the directory to get the .class files.
    But there is only UserPassword.class inside the data folder. There is not
    UserAccManager.class in the core folder.
    Then I try this way,I put my 2 java files in to a new folder,
    F:\SystemName\com
    When I try it that way, but it don't compile.
    javac -classpath . -d . com\*.javaError:com\UserPassword.java:package javax.servlet does not exist
    import javax.servlet.*;
    com\UserPassword.java:package javax.servlet.http does not exist
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    So,I comment them only in the UserPassword.java file,and compile it again.
    Now both are compiling well.There was 2 class files.
    I put them in to the WEB-INF/classes/com directory.
    Start the server.But it gave errors:

  • Changes made in jsp pages not showing in weblogic 92

    Hi:
    I am using Weblogic 92.
    I ran an ant script and it copy the ear file
    to the following directory.
    C:\bea92\user_projects\domains\Inquiry\autodeploy
    This should autodeploy the application but it doesn't seemed to show the changes I made.
    I also copy the ear file to the following directory:
    C:\bea92\user_projects\applications\Inquiry
    and
    C:\bea92\user_projects\applications\Inquiry\autodeploy
    The worst part is even if I delete the ear files in the above directory and when I restarted weblogic 92, in the admin console it still shows it and when I tried to delete it, it says the ear file was deploy autodeploy and you must delete it manually something like that.
    But I already deleted it manually but it still shows in the weblogic console. This is very frustrating.
    In weblogic 8.1 I didn't use autodeploy and I don't have any of these type of problems!!
    I also noticed that in the directory:
    C:\bea92\user_projects\domains\Inquiry\servers\AdminServer\stage\_appsdir_inquiry_ear
    it contains an old ear file.
    What are the directory I have to updated exactly with the new ear files for the changes to show up in the application?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Yours,
    Frustrated

    Hi, Shonda, I can find "Main Mode" for my Jdeveloper 9.0.5.0.0 at
    Tools -> Embedded Oc4j Server settings -> Global -> JSP Container.
    If you can not find this parameter as above, can you use the index search for "Jsp container" or full text search for "embedded oc4j"?
    Anyway, I believe there is way to confirm / change this parameter. At a last resort, you might search for files that contains "main_mode" or "main mode", case ignored, so as to get a clue where this parameter is stored.
    I have been using 9.0.3 oc4j for some time. If the main_mode is recompile, any change of my jsps is always reflected immediately.

  • Error:Unable to compile class for JSP

    Hi all,
    I am new at jsp,just started to learn a week ago :) Anyway I'm having troubles with using a compiled java class in jsp code.I use tomcat 4.1.31 and java 1.4.2.I have compiled the following programm and put the class into tomcats' webapps\ch06\WEB-INF\classes directory
    public class ch06_01
    public ch06_01()
    public String msg()
    return "Hello from JSP!";
    Then I have the following jsp file in the webapps\ch06 dir as well:
    <%@ page import="ch06_01" %>
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>Using a JavaBean</TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H1>Using a JavaBean</H1>
    <% ch06_01 messager = new ch06_01(); %>
    The message is: <%= messager.msg() %>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    But when I try to ran the jsp page following error occures:

    Can anybody help me,please!I appreciate your help a lot!
    Thank you verry much!
    Best regards Daisy

    Its not a Tomcat issue per se, but a change in the J2SE.
    Its been the case since the release of Java 1.4, when they disabled access to the "default" package. Quite a few of the books written before Java1.4 was released are still around, and there are endless examples around the net that no longer work as a result of this change.

  • Deployment for JSP Application on OAS 4.0.8.2

    Hi,
    I would appreciate, if someone could share its experience of deploying the JSP application which utilizes certain JavaClasses for database access and businesslogic.
    My question is that do we need to add JSP files or .java files created under the myprojects directory. Also where do we place the java classes.
    Also, do I need to get my classpath settings in the environment variables for JSP's to run. Because my WinNT crashed twice on changing the env settings.
    Any help shall be appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    As u had said in the previous mail... I also have lot of basic doubts. Let us share them..
    What do u mean by a JSP cartridge... Should i download it or something...

    Hi,

    When I hold down the control button to get the error log it APPEARS to locate the JDK, but at the very end, when it looks for the JRE it is null.

  • Search strategy for JSP tag files

    Hello everyone,
    I've been trying to find a solution to this for some time, but couldn't find a clean one. Maybe somewhere here has any ideas for a solution...
    Consider a JSP taglib which is composed of hundreds of .tag files. The library is referenced in JSP using the "*tagdir*" option of the taglib directive, which simply points to /WEB-INF/tags/ (where the .tag files are located).
    Our standard server software distribution includes that tag library, as well as JSP pages that make up the server's web user interface. Those JSP pages use the taglib extensively.
    Now, we want to be able to distribute upgrades to the JSP pages and the tablib, but allow customers to easily customize some tag files without worring about loosing their changes if they apply a future upgrade.
    If it were possible for JSP pages to declare two overlapping taglib directives (same prefix) pointing to two different tagdirs, it would allow us to place our hundreds of .tag files in one "standard" directory, and allow customers to place customized .tag files in another "customized" directory. That way JSP files would always use the same prefix for our tags, but the actual .tag file inserted would be coming either from the customers's "customized" tagdir or from our "standard" tagdir (depending if they chose to override a tag with a customized version or not).
    Is this possible? How do people deal with taglib customization and maintenance issues?
    Thank you!

    Thanks for the reply!
    We use the ClickOnce smart client deployment to the user's machine and we would not want to touch/change anything on the user's machine. So, we can't rely on an environment variable being set.
    It almost seems that the DB Support Team has to not only talk to the Tech Support team and arrange for deploying the right version of the tnsnames.ora file on their users machines, but also talk to the App Deployment Team and provide the most recent version of this file to be used for deployment. So I guess if this file is checked in a code repository, the DB Support team can notify the Tech Support Team and the App Deployment Team to refresh respectively all user machines and application deployment configuration files.
    Alternatively, as one of the app deployment instructions of App Deployment team can be: "check out the most recent version of tnsnames.ora from the repository before deploying the application".
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

  • Data grid for jsp applications

    Someone knows where i can get a good data grid (free or cost ) for JSP applications

    I just stumbled across this thread as we are developing a stateless BSP application and plan to use model binding in it.
    For our application the part of the models state that changes is displayed in the view in form fields, so our idea is to reload the model from the db in the doInitattributes-Method and let the model binding do the rest of the work filling in the values that changed in the view. It seems to work so far - so i guess persisting the state of the object to the db is only necessary when something changed that is not part of the view, right?
    My second question is on Brians recommendation to use MVC only at exactly one level. Is using Sub-Controllers a problem when they have got their own model? I guess the extra work Brian mentions is all about telling the subcontrollers which model to load, right?
    It would be good to know if there are any serious pitfalls when using a hierarchy of controllers instead of a controller with a collection of views.

  • Unable to compile class for JSP: import ...

    Hi everybody!
    I've tried to change from Servlet to JSP. The Servlet used a package und compiled fine under NB 4.1.
    When the JSP is compiled on the Server (Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 2004Q4 Beta) the following error occurs:
    org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP
    Generated servlet error:

    Do I have to place the classfile manually on the server?
    Thanks for your help,

    All import-statements where of the same kind. I had to place trhe classfiles

  • Enable debug for jsp.

    Hi,
    I have downloaded OEPE for Eclipse Galileo and I am able to keep break points in the jsp. when ever it comes to that line it says attach source which i don't have as it is looking for a .class file. Or if I have made changes to an existing jsp after the server is started, it says jsp is out of sync. :( every time i make changes to a jsp I have to restart the server which takes 30 minutes. I want to do hot code replacement like how its done for java for jsps and xmls. We are using struts and weblogic 9.2 MP3.Please help.
    Regards,
    Acharya

    Hi Raj,
    Thanks for ur response. I am able to keep break points etc in my jsp but i am not able to watch or inspect any java variable. I have also tried the keep generated and attached the generated code under admin server, tried attaching the web content alone in the add source, no use .. can you tell me what cold be the issue? atleast i am prepared to copy paste my jsp anywhere so that the change is reflected. every time i make changes I need to take a build deploy it which is very irritating.
    Another major major issue I face is if i land in a java file which i havent landed before or made changes, I need to give a space and save or else it is not staying n the break points which is given. this makes this plugin all the more annoying. The Galileo which i downloaded is the one released from eclise and not any of the previous versions.
    I am thinkin of movin out of oepe. before I was using com.bea.weblogic.eclipse_1.1.1 a plugin i fond some where and thats better. only issue i face is out of sync wfor which i need to restart the server.
    am I missing something? I downloaded the eclipse 5.0, i downloaded oepe-previewgalileo-11.1.1.1.1.200904131351 as it is from the server provider itself I installed oepe-previewgalileo-11.1.1.1.1.200904131351 successfully and i have so many issues?
    Please advice & help....

        Please help me in finding the change logs  for the TCODE  FILE,

    rec/client is a profile parameter, you can view the settings in transaction RZ10.  However I find program RSPARAM more useful, the report lists all system parameters with their default and altered value.  Also if you double-click on a parameter you can get to the full help text for its meaning.
    The parameter essentially switches on table change logging for configuration tables (based on the technical settings of the table) and has to be set before the changes are made.
    Hope this helps.
