Changing the built in VNC port

Can anyone advise how / if this can be done? I've looked around in system preferences and not come up with anything.
What would be really handy would be if there was a way for this to be done from the command line as I have ssh access but not remote desktop or VNC at the moment.
Thanks

If you use "Share My Desktop" to control the VNC server you can specify the port.

  • Changing the multicast Address and Port giving error

I am using Coherence 3.3.1 jar files (Coherence.jar and tangosol.jar) in my local application. But when I try to change the multicast Address and Port in tangosole-coherence.xml(in Coherence.jar) then it is giving this error -
"This member could not join the cluster because of an incompatibility between the cluster protocol used by this member and the one being used by the rest of the cluster. This is most likely caused by a Coherence version mismatch, or by mismatched protocol filters (e.g. compression, or encryption)"
If i am using unique IP and Port then how can it be in a Cluster as this error stating. Please reply ASAP.

    Hi,
There is a good chance that there is already the IP and port is being used by another cluster (which uses different versions of jars or configurations) and hence, when you are starting your cluster, throwing the error.
Can you double check if another cluster is already using it or not ?
    Thanks,

  • Embeded VI's accessing modules via the built-n rs232 port on the FP2010

I have an FP-2010 module. I want the targeted VI's on the FP-2010 to talk via the built in RS232 port to a FP-1000 and then to the modules on that bank. Is this possible and how?

    Michael,
Unfortunately, at the current time, the standard FieldPoint VI's (FP Open.vi, FP Create Tag.vi, etc...) will only work to talk to the FieldPoint I/O modules that are directly connected to the FP-20XX. In order to control a FP-1000/1001 system via the serial port of the FP-20XX, you should use the FieldPoint Optomux VI's. These VI's correspond to the Standard and Extended Optomux Command sets as documented in the FP-1000/1001 Progammers Reference Manual. The manual can be downloaded from:
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/321632c.pdf
The FieldPoint Optmux VI's will be installed automatically with FieldPoint Explorer 3.0 or later if LabVIEW RT 6.0.3 (or later) is on the machine. Otherwise, they can be installed by doing a custom install of FieldPoint Explo

Personally, I have used the VI's to control multiple FP-1000/1001's without difficulty from my FP-20XX modules.

  • How to change the Number of IVR ports in a UCCX?

I know this question has been asked before but it needs to be asked again, as previous answers do not seem to apply.   The simple quesiton is:  If you have a UCCX and if after install you check you check License information and you note that you have 150 IVR ports; how do you increase the number of ports to 300?
I have been told that the number of ports is set by the class of the machine hardware and is not a license issue.   Others have suggested it is a license issue?   At the end of the day, however, I want a step by step procedure for adding more IVR ports to my deployment.   Even if that means buying more licenses (though I can not find a SKU).
I have several clients that have UCCX and are having calls that exceed the number of IVR ports.   Before we get into a discussion of CTI ports or Call Controll Groups, let me identify that I think they are the same.    I can create a CTI Call Control Group with 300 paths, but if I only have 150 IVR ports I am in serious trouble on the 151 call!
I had a lab system that installed under vmware with 150 ports.  No matter how I tried to configure the CVA it always came up 150 ports!   I added a NFR license to my lab and magically it turned it into a 12 IVR system, so licensing does have something to do with it!
I have htis experience on Version 8 and now on Version 9!   I need more IVR ports than appear in the installation.  I want to know exactly the steps needed to increase the number of IVR ports to the maxium of 300 for an enhanced system!
I can refer CISOC TAC to several tickets I have opened on this subject all with unsatisactory answers!  Most recently 626743961

Since I see below that you mentioned that the system in question is Enhanced, the answer is simply, install on faster hardware.  Presently the best hardware you can get is VMWare ESXi with the 400 Agent License OVA, which gives you 400 IVR Port Licenses.
Standard licensing works the same as Enhanced, as far as IVR Port licenses go.
If you were wondering about Premium, then it's a 1:2 ratio of agent:ports.  You cannot buy Premium ports directly, instead you buy them indirectly through the process of buying Premium Agent seats.  So if you had a Premium UCCX with 100 Agents, you would have 200 ports, and if you desired to have 250 ports, you simply buy 25 more Premium Agent seats.  Premium does still need to adhere to the hardware limits.  I have seen partners sell someone an Enhanced UCCX which gave them 300 ports, but they only had like 50 Agents.  A year later, the customer upgraded to Premuim, but only bought 50 seats, and thus downgraded their port license count to 100.  A third of what they had!  The solution?  Buy 100 more Premium Agent seats so your total goes up to 150 Agents, and thus your ports go up to 300.
Peter Buswell wrote:I have been told that the number of ports is set by the class of the machine hardware and is not a license issue.   Others have suggested it is a license issue?
These are both correct statements.  Just remember, that it's licensed based first for Premium, then hardware limited.  Standard and Enhanced are hardware limited only.
Peter Buswell wrote:At the end of the day, however, I want a step by step procedure for adding more IVR ports to my deployment.   Even if that means buying more licenses (though I can not find a SKU).
Again, for Standard and Enhanced, you need to move to bigger/better hardware to get more ports, assuming you're not already at the meximum of 400.
Here is the document which walks you through moving to bigger hardware: Disaster Recovery Guide
And for Premium, you need to purchase the SKU for a Premium Agent Seat license.  It's a 1:2 ratio for agents:ports.
Peter Buswell wrote:I have several clients that have UCCX and are having calls that exceed the number of IVR ports.
I'm not a partner, nor in sales, but I thought there was an A2Q process which validates CC designs for sales people.  At any rate, it sounds like they were either under sized or outgrew their overhead, and something needs to be done.
Sometimes you can simply dump excess calls off.  Think about playing a high call volume message to callers and then drop them.
Other times you can drop them into voicemail, and come back to it later.
I've seen some basic call back functionality implemented with an external data source, which could alleviate ports.
Lastly, I've seen improperly designed scripts which loop on themselves or other scripts, causing a high port usage.
My point is that there's a few options here, outside of simply increasing the size of the server or purchasing new licenses.  There's no one size fits all answer though.
Peter Buswell wrote:Before we get into a discussion of CTI ports or Call Controll Groups, let me identify that I think they are the same.
Are you saying that CTI Ports and Call Control Groups are the same?  Or that CTI Ports/CCG's are the same as IVR Port Licenses?  Cause the former is true, while the latter is not.  Think "oversubscribed" CTI Ports.
Sometimes it is advantageous to oversubscribe your CTI Ports, to achieve a more dynamic environment.  E.g., I have 100 ports, and all 100 are used for inbound calls.  I develope a single inbound app, which is limited to 10 ports, and handles small bursts of calls.  What happens is that, if the new inbound app is running, the most it can "steal" from the inbound calls is 10 ports.  However, if the app is not running (because it doesn't run all day, it's mostly bursty in nature), I can still have my regular inbound calls go all the way up to 100.
Peter Buswell wrote:I can create a CTI Call Control Group with 300 paths, but if I only have 150 IVR ports I am in serious trouble on the 151 call!
This is true.  Again, you need to decide if you really need the extra ports, of if there is some solution to solving this problem without making a hardware/license purchase.  These kinds of problems still exist for customers at the 400 port level, and they don't have the option to "buy more."
Well, that's not entirely true.  While you cannot grow past the 400 port limit today, you could install another UCCX instance on the same CUCM cluster, effectively doubling your capacity, but breaking your administration into two separate domains.
Peter Buswell wrote:I had a lab system that installed under vmware with 150 ports.  No matter how I tried to configure the CVA it always came up 150 ports!
    What's CVA?
Peter Buswell wrote:I added a NFR license to my lab and magically it turned it into a 12 IVR system, so licensing does have something to do with it!
The NFR is most likely a Premium license.  Refer back to the 1:2 ratio, and that would tell me you have an NFR license for 6 Premium Agents.  Installing a higher level license on a lower level licensed system brings the whole system up to the higher level.  Recall my partner story about the Enhanced to Premium upgrade scenario.
Peter Buswell wrote:I have htis experience on Version 8 and now on Version 9!
The licensing doesn't change from 8x to 9x.
Peter Buswell wrote:I need more IVR ports than appear in the installation.  I want to know exactly the steps needed to increase the number of IVR ports to the maxium of 300 for an enhanced system!
You buy bigger/better hardware, and use the link I provided above for moving to that new hardware.

I would be surprised if there is a single Cisco TAC person who doesn't understand this simply IVR Port licensing model.  Perhaps there was some miscommunication about what was being asked, and what answer was being given.
I hope that helped to clarify some things for you.  Also, if you are a partner, reach out to your CAM and ask for a one on one with a UCCX guru who can sit down with you.  Cisco would want you to be successful with selling their products.

  • How Do You Change the Remote Desktop Listening Port in Win 8.1 Pro

I am trying to setup two Win 8.1 Pro computers for Remote Desktop access on my local network. I can get Remote Desktop working fine on both when they are using the default RD port 3389. I am unable to change the listening port on one of the computers so
that I can access either via a public Internet connection. I change the listening port in the Registry, reboot the computer and verify that the port number has been changed BUT the computer still responds to the old port 3389 and can't connect via the new
port number. I added a Firewall rule for the new port, but that did NOT solve the problem.
I have followed the procedure below and verified in the Registry that the port is changed but the Remote Desktop remains accessible only on the default port 3389. The new port number in the Registry is 39699. I used a network scanner and it shows the computer
is still listening on port 3389 for Remote Desktop connections. Why is Win 8.1 Pro ignoring the new port number in the Registry and still responding on 3389? Is there another place in Win 8.1 Pro that the port also needs to be changed. I also added a new rule
in the Firewall to allow incoming requests on port 39699? This is a very frustrating problem, any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I followed the procedure shown below.
    Hi ,
Based on my test, we can change the listening port for Remote Desktop.
To change the port that Remote Desktop listens on, follow these steps.
    1.Start Registry Editor.
2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
3.On the Edit menu, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
4.Type the new port number, and then click OK.
    5.Quit Registry Editor.
    6.Restart the computer.
Meanwhile, please note, please type the new integer port number between 1025 and 65535 in the PortNumber text box.
And make sure the new port number is not in use by other application.
We may use the command below to check the result.
    netstat -a
Also, we can use Network Monitor to trace the port.
    Microsoft Network Monitor 3.4
    Regards,

    Hi,
There are two item that should be modified to change the default 3389 port:
One is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Wds\rdpwd\Tds\tcp]. Modify  the PortNamber to the one you want.
The other is: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentContro1Set\Control\Tenninal Server\WinStations\RDP\Tcp]. Modify the PortNumber to the one you want.
In your case, you missed the first one.

  • Why I change the energy level of port in PoE switch, the power usage of port no anyt change

I am enable the EnergyWise on a 3560, plug a IP Phone to a port, the result of the power usage read by SNMP is 6kw, when i change the energy level from 10 to 0 by SNMP, the LCD on IP Phone is goes to dark and phone cannot be use, but when I get the power usage of port by SNMP again, the result still is 6kw. Can anyone tell me why?

This project is just a short animation so every time I import the stills they are of the wrong duration so I try changing the duration by the other methods described previously, fail to be able to do that, erase everything from the project, restart and start again, initially with the preferences. So there's nothing for the still frames to conflict with. It's not the fact that there is a batch of stills that is the problem either as I keep experimenting with with single or small groups of stills in that context. I've also tried importing a variety of still formats into other projects. This is fairly new software. Could this be an incurable fault?

  • Is it possible to use the built-in Ethernet port in the RE1000 to Minimize Decreasing throughput

    Kindly
Is it possible to use the built-in Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) port to extend the network with an Ethernet cable without placing the extender in an area where you still have at signal ?

The Linksys RE1000 Wireless-N Range Extender includes a built-in Fast Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) port, which works as a wireless bridge to instantly connect any wired Ethernet device to your network. To ensure the proper configuration of the range extender, you need to know the wireless settings of your router or access point.  These settings are:
    • SSID
    • Wireless Channel
    • Wireless Security and Network Key

Maybe I am confused but I think I have a formula that does what you are in need of. I am conditionally formatting a description field by right clicking on the field and selecting format field. The I have the following formula set under "border tab"
    if "pcb" in ({F4101.IMDSC1})then crred
    else if "dialplate" in ({F4101.IMDSC1})
    then cryellow
    else crnocolor
This highlights every line which contains my formula or search criteria.

  • How do I change the DAC service serial port assignment in a distributed applications

I am in the process of writing an application for end of line testing of large commercial HVAC units. It is our intention that this will be a distributed application on several workstations.
I am successful setting up a modbus serial connection to the hardware we are using when in the development system but once the application is built and installed onto another PC, no data is passed from the NI variable Engine to the shared Variables in the VI. The comm port is identical and the port settings should get handled through the executable application I would assume.
    Does anybody have any clues?
    Stebo222

Hi, do you see the variables at the Distributed System Manager? If not, I believe you need to check this article. Something to keep in mind is the path for the library, it changes once it's built into an executable so make sure you are pointing to the right direction (a regular fix is striping the path, it may not work on the VI but it will on the .exe).

  • BO Edge 3.0 - Changing The CMC Port

    Hello Everyone,
Can someone please tell me if it is possible to change the port that CMC runs through - ours is currently set to 8080 (the same as InfoView) and we would like to change it if possible...if indeed it can be done, please can you advise on how to do so?
    Many Thanks.

    Hi,
i believe its in one of the following web.xml files. Just open them and search for "8080"
    <TOMCAT_INSTALL_DIR>\conf\web.xml
    <TOMCAT_INSTALL_DIR>\webapps\InfoViewApp\WEB-INF\web.xml
Alternativly you could search the whole tomcat dir for "web.xml" and search each file for "8080" and change the entries to your port. But there will be a lot of web.xml Files.

  • Black screen connecting to built-in VNC (10.4.7) from Linux

    Hi there,
I just enabled the built-in VNC server in my G4 running 10.4.7, and for testing purposes enabled full rights to the connecting VNC client.
However, when connecting with a tight vnc client (from Ubuntu linux), I get a connection to the Mac and I can use the mouse, but the VNC client screen/window appears completely black; i.e., I cannot see the Mac screen on my VNC client. This behavior persists irrespectively of the actual tight vnc client; have tried multiple.
    Anyone can help?
PS: I tried the OSXvnc solution (and thus disabling the built-in version of VNC), and this works flawlessly .. so I do not think that the problem is on the VNC client side.

I hate to interrupt your fuming, Joshua, but those Apple "nazis" do still sell Tiger as of a few days ago. Call 1-800-SOS-APPL and ask for Phone Sales (not iPhone sales, but a sales department that only operates over the phone, not through the online store).
As for "I just love how they dont support older products anymore," I think if you look around a little, you'll discover that Microsoft doesn't sell outdated versions of its OS any more, and most car manufacturers aren't selling their 2005 car models any more either. In fact the practice of not selling discontinued, superseded products is standard across most industries. Apple's continued selling of Tiger long after the introduction of Leopard is quite unusual.
And as for the "nazi" practice of not allowing you to install Tiger on your Powerbook from the Intel iMac's discs, the machines use entirely different architectures, and the iMac discs are configured specifically for the Intel architecture. The OS on them is also licensed for use on only one computer, not multiple computers, as you would know if you read the license agreement. And while you may never have encountered this limitation before, the discs that are shipped with every Mac have always, since the mac's earliest days, been specific to that machine model and, in all but a few exceptional (and accidental) cases, unusable on any other model. Apple has never changed this longstanding policy/practice. It's nothing new.
