Channel strip plugin setting attaches to all audio tracks -- why

Hi all, an interesting thing happened today. Put down bass/drum/rhythm guitar trax. Rhythm guitar used a NI Guitar Rig 3 plugin -- a Vox amp with spring reverb.
So far, all is well.
Then I create a new audio track, for the lead guitar. Much to my surprise, it took on the settings of the rhythm guitar track -- the NI GR3 Vox amp with spring reverb.
I tried clearing the channel trip settings. I tried bypassing the plugin in the rhythm track. I created new audio tracks.
All to no avail -- all audio tracks retained the settings of that first track, that is Vox with reverb.
I finalyl created a new project and moved my tracks over. All is fine now, but does anyone know what might have caused that? And how to avoid in future?
I really enjoy Logic, but I have to wrestle with fear every time I open it -- a "what the f's gonna go wrong this time?" sorta feeling. I've started pricing out Pro Tools systems to be honest...

It sounds like you don't understand the concept of Logic - tracks and track objects.
You can have for instance twenty tracks, all set to an Audio Channel 1 object. The tracks themselves are independent, but all audio plays through that Audio Channel 1. This is great for, for eaxmple, comping up a vocal part. Note that audio channels are themselves monophonic, so you can have only one audio region playing at any one time.
This is different to independant arrange tracks that play through different audio channels..
So when you hit your "next track" key command, make sure you are using "Create Track with next object", and not "Create Track". Create Track just creates a new arrange track assigned to the same track object. The other one creates a new arrange track and assigns the next track object, so everything's fully independent.
This is a complexity in Logic that other DAWs don't have, but it's a great feature once you get your head around it. One reason I like Logic over other DAWs.
So arrange tracks and audio channels are not inextricably linked, as they are in other DAWs.

  • Quick comparison of patches vs. channel strip vs set vs concert ..????

    howdy
just trying to differentiate between patches - channel strips - sets and concerts -
i will be using mainstage for keysounds triggered by my midi keyboard....drum sound triggered by midi drum i/o .....and hopefully guitar and vox as well -
would each channel strip correspond to an instrument? (drums, keys, guit, vox)
and then each channel has a patch (tone) ??
then whats a set and concert exactly?
im sure this is a noob question, but nonetheless would like an explanation based on anyones personal experience..
my greatest concern is latency, so any info on the proper hierarchy and safe guards (muting patches when they are not processing audio???) to reduce delay would be greatly appreciated
    fro

Concert = the file; it contains everything, sets, patches & channel strips.
Set = a collection of patches & their channel strips. This is an organisational device that allows you to sort patches by various criteria. EG, in one concert, I have two sets with identical guitar channel strips but with a different synth for each set.
Patch = a collection of channel strips. These can be any mixture of audio and synth, eg CS1 guitar, CS2 voice, CS3 synth 1, CS4 synth 2 etc
In addition you may have as many busses as you need.
Now to the confusing part. The hierarchy listed above is a good way to start with MainStage. It is simple and clear.
If you have a channel strip that will not change during a set, it may be more efficient to insert it at the Set level rather than the Patch level. That way, you only have to set it up once. Why would you want to do this when it is so easy to set up a channel strip? just a couple of mouse clicks should suffice.
Inserting a channel strip at Set level means that you only have to set up the MIDI controls for that patch once in the editor. This can save a lot of time if you have a synth with a complex control structure.
I understand that only the active patch in MainStage uses processor power. (If I am wrong, you should get a correction fairly soon.) The only problem I find with large concerts is the length of time it can take for a large concert to load.

  • Premiere not showing all audio tracks in video file?

    Hello,
The short version of my issue is that I am not seeing all audio tracks in my imported AVI video. I know they are there, but only one track is showing.
    Longer version:
I have an application called Action! that is used for recording games. There is a setting on this application that allows you to record your microphone as a separate audio track.  I made a 15 minute video using this. If i play this video in Action!'s media player, i can switch between my game track and my microphone track. If I play the video file in Windows Media Player, it plays both tracks. When I import this video file into Premiere (or Soundbooth) it only shows the Game track and not the microphone track. I cannot find a way to get to the microphone track. It just seems like it doesnt exist. Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance

  • How can I use ALL audio tracks in multiclip editing?

I want to be able to use all audio tracks after the multiclip cut.
It's only a two camera shoot, but I want to be able to use the ambient room sound from the second camera ... and control its level (in relation to the master audio track on the first camera) AFTER the cuts are made.
Is this possible in multiclip editing? And how does one go about it?
Apologies. I've spent an hour or so in the manual, and it isn't clear ... or I'm just not finding the right reference.
    All ears,
    Ben

Sorry if I'm steering you down a path you don't want to go or even if there's a better way but I wouldn't be ding complex audio mixing anywhere near the multiclip interface. Export your reference movie or nest the multiclip project into another sequence, bring in your additional tracks, get to work. Just my preferences, I put a bunch of rough keyframes in the audio tracks and enter some markers (and make a lot of paper notes). Then I go back using the large mixer window to do the fine tweaking.
Stick around for a couple of days, some other multiclip users with more experience than I will offer some more useful suggestions.

  • Move all audio track anchors at one time together

Move all audio track anchors at one time together..is this possible? I imported a remix, figured out the tempo. Now I want to make the tracks ( regions) all start on a downbeat to align with my measures..thx in advance for your assistance..

    > How do you do that?
I'd begin by reading the Beat Mapping Track section in the Reference manual, p. 337...
    > They are not referencing anything.
Oh, yes, they are: these anchors actually reference the first sample to be played... Presumably, they were recorded to start together and play along, right? When you dragged them, they all landed as new audio regions starting at the beginning of the same bar, since their respective anchors are all aligned at the start of the so-called region. These anchors will stick to the tick they landed to, whatever tempo change you make, unless you move the regions.
    Or maybe you're missing something?...

  • Moving Patch Channel Strips to Set Level

I have a patch setup I would like to move to a Set level, complete with it's layout, channel strips, plug-ins, and instruments. Is this possible in MainStage 1? How? And, iƒ not, is it possible in MainStage 2?
    Thanks.....

The simplest way is to do it by channel strip, for each channel strip, position your mouse over the Setting block, right click, choose "Copy Channel Strip Setting", go to your Set (insert a new channel strip if you have to) then right-click over the Setting block again and choose "Paste Channel Strip Setting".

  • All audio tracks have same waveform in cs5

    Dear Friends,
When i import 1080p AVI with 8 different audio tracks in Premier CS5 all my audio tracks have save waveform as that of track no 1. I mean all tracks looks the same though they are different as 5.1 and stereo.
Please help and advice. Thanking You.

I really have no idea what you are doing or what your signal routing looks like, nor do I know how experienced you are with audio software and signal routings in general. What I now think you mean is that you can't monitor your input properly, you cannot hear the signal of the mic? Is that right? Or how did you arrive to the conclusion that none of your plugins work on audio tracks? Have you actually put an audio file on your audio track?
If you want to hear your input +processed through Logics' plugins,+ you need to enable Software Monitoring - just add its button (with a 'muted speaker' icon) to the transport by rightclicking the transport and ticking *Software Monitoring* on the list. Button grey=off, button green with dot in it=on.
Of course the channel strip/track you receive the input on should also have an output selected, or you will never hear anything.

  • Importing a project into PE 12 trial version, not all audio tracks play back!

I'm trying the trial vesion of PE 12.  Imported a project that I had created with PE 9.  Everything appears to have been imported, including all the audio tracks.  But when i play it back, some of the audio tracks are completely muted, while others, are fine and I can hear it.
Any idea what can cause this?

With "muted" Audio Tracks, I would look at a few possibilities, and especailly with a Project created in an earlier version of PrE:
Open Audio Mixer, and look to see if any Tracks are Muted.
Play the Timeline, and observe the Levels in Audio Mixer, and also whether there is any movement of the "sliders" in Audio Mixer.
Observe which Audio Tracks your Audio Clips are, in the Timeline, and report those please.
Making sure that Keyframe Display is set to Volume in your Audio Clips, are there any Volume Keyframes?
I am sure that others will have a few more ideas, and questions.
    Good luck,

  • How do I hear all audio tracks in multiclip at once?

Working in Final Cut 5. I've set up a multiclip with three angles and everything is running fine. However, in my sequence, I want to have all six audio tracks active at the same time, and then use the multi clip to cut the video. How do I do this without having to lay each one back in?

I'm interested in this as well. Any thoughts out there?

  • Is it possible to set up a split audio track....

...while recording and create 2 channels with their own effects settings. I have a Tascam US-122MKII audio interface. If one guitar is plugged into LEFT channel and one into RIGHT channel, can they be split up while recording?  I don't quite know if the TASCAM allows for this I'm not seeing anything in the manual and don't see wether LOGIC is capable of doing that? The idea is to record 2 guitars at once but split up the stereo into seperat tracks and then add effects so that each player has a different sound. The TASCAM allows 2 intruments ie: voice/guitar,or right and left XLR input but so far everything is imported to 1 stereo track...Any ideas on wether it's possible? Thanks everyone.

    Hi
    What I'm saying is:
Make a new MONO audio track (use the + button). Assign it to input 1
Make a second new MONO track, assign it to input 2
Name both tracks, record-enable both tracks, and record.
You could, of course, make both tracks in one go via the new track dialog box, and hav ethem automatically assigned to ascending inputs.

  • All audio tracks disappeared form the Timeline, but audio still works

    Hi there.
I've been using Premiere for quite a while (I still have the 2.0 version), but this problem never occured before. I'm running Premiere on Win Vista.
I've been working on a project for a few weeks and eventually I got a version that was more or less final. Thus I tried to render everything a few times (Quicktime H264) but the render never succeeded because of an "API failure". Didn't manage to fix that, so I tried to render in wmv, just to check if it worked.
Well, it worked, but when render finished all the audio tracks had disappeared form the Timeline. I tried to find a solution on the web but couldn't find anything useful. No matters how much I scroll down and/or move the windows, the audio tracks just are not there. And the triky part is that I still can hear the sound when playing the sequence! I tried to add some empty audio tracks and Premiere apparently does it (it records it in the history), but no audio track shows up...
    Any solutions?
    Thank you

This sounds like a redraw problem, which is usually the fault of graphics hardware/driver.  Try checking those.

  • Removing ALL audio tracks in a project

How do I remove ALL audio recorded in a .cp? I don't mean how
to compile w/o audio, I want to delete all tracks. I'd rather not
go through each slide and click each object and remove the audio
associated w/ it. I have lot's of audio that I want to get rid of.
    Thanks.

  • MPEG-4  ( H.264 ) Movies play ALL audio tracks simultaneously

In i-Tunes , when I try to play MPEG4's with multiple audio tracks (such as 1-english 2-director comment)both audio tracks play at the same time.
The files are MPEG-4's created by Nero Recode (AVC – HDTV profile).
There is no issue with any similar files with one audio track.
There is no issue playing these in VLC , WMP Mplayer, etc.
Is there an option to enable i-Tunes to allow me to select only one track?

Or, could someone explain how I might be able to view the file information in Terminal?

  • Stereo vs. Mono Audio Tracks - Why?

I tink one of the most annyoying features of Premiere is the way it handles audio tracks.  I'm curious if this is just me or if anyone else out there is bothered by the same thing.
I work on a kids' show that has lots of music, sound effects and often 4 different mics for the actors at the same time.  Since I record 2 mics on each cam (R and L), I like to import everything as mono clips so it breaks up my audio and I can label who's on what layer/track.
Sometimes I end up with 20 different audio tracks.  Not because I NEED 20 layers, but because some of my SFX and music come in as stereo and others as mono and I can't put a mono-clip on a stereo clip or vice versa.  This is the part that drives me crazy.  I might need to add a 1-second swoosh SFX for some text coming in and I've got to go to layer 12 (scrolling way down), when just below the video there are 11 empty layers "available" but can't be used because they won't accept placement of that track because it's in stereo when the clip is mono.  Make sense?  So, really, instead of needing 20 tracks, I could EASILY get by with 10 IF Premiere had a way of not being so picky about whether a track is stero or mono and could just handle whatever you dish at it.

Maybe I have just used PrPro long enough, that I accept the Audio Tracks and channel-count. It makes perfect sense to me, but then maybe I am missing something important. If one does not have the necessary Audio Track, PrPro will create one for you.
This ARTICLE goes into much more detail.
Only thing that I would like changed, is the ability to drag Audio Tracks up/down, like on many DAW's. Otherwise, there is a little "dance," that needs to be done, to organize Audio Tracks.
    Good luck,

I tunes Audio book does not show up in I tunes ibook when sync.  What should i do

You are only as young as you feel......
This is an example of how you can select the exact content that you want to sync to your device. You do not have to sync the entire iTunes library. You can pick and choose the music, apps, books and so on that you want to sync. This is using music as an example.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on only the albums or playlists that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
You can do this with apps, books, movies .... Whatever .... You have the freedom to sync whatever you want.
