Characteristic Hierarchies and Interactive Charts

Hi,
I have two characteristics hierarchies (sales organizations and material) defined as rows and 3 key figures (sales quantity, amount and value) in column format for a specific queries.
Now I want to design two combo box, respectively for two characteristics hierarchies. say combo box 1 (Sales organizations) for hierarchy one and combo box 2 (Material) for second hierarchy.
I want the combo box 1 should contain the unique values of sales organization hierarchy and combo box 2 should contain the unique values of material hierarchy.
Now depending upon the selection value of sales organization level and material combination, an ineractive chart should be displayed to show the corresponding values.
I think we need to use VB macro to do the above. Please help

I think it is not a trivial task. Dont know wether it is possible at all.
First of all, you need to understand the purpose of this chart: what a user wants to see and compare. Second, you need to determine how the chart should look like. The best way to figured out the latter is to play with a chart in Excel. I did it a little and have seen that 3-D chart you mentioned is not illustrative. Maybe its better to fix an SO value and show materials and one of the KFs in a 2-D diagram?
So, you need to construct a chart you need in Excel manually first. When you have a clear picture what you have in rows and columns, itll be much easier to figured out if it is feasible in BEx.

Content Viewer and interactive charts

Hello
I have created an interactive chart using HTML5 and Javascript and imported in InDesign using the Overay--> Webcontent.
The animation and the interaction is working well on the iPad2, but when I click on the screen to interact with the chart the menu of the Content Viewer is appearing and disappearing. I find this very disturbing.
Do you know how it is possible to avoid this? It would be nice if the menu would only appear when I click somewhere on the page but not on the interactive chart/web overlay.
Unfortunately on Android (Galaxy 10') the animation and interaction are visible but very very slow....

Finance Interactive Chart is blank in Firefox (for both Google and Yahoo Finance)

I've tried updating Java, Flash, Silverlight (it would really be nice to know for sure what Google and Yahoo Finance use). But they all were updated. I cleared my cache, tried restarting in safe mode (which is ironic because if the plugin isn't loaded, how is the site going to display the chart), hit Ctrl+F5, flipped off the monitor, but nothing is allowing the charts to display. I had previously allowed Adobe to update Reader and restart my computer, which I think led to the blank financial charts. Now I have to use Chrome or IE.

I've been using Firefox almost exclusively for years and didn't have problems with the Yahoo! Finance interactive charts until version 15. I just updated to 16.0.1 last evening and it didn't fix anything. I've updated Flash, tried <ctrl>f5 - nothing helps. Something was done in a recent update to create the problem. It would certainly be nice if this was undone and fixed.
Actually, I wouldn't mind downgrading a couple versions. I didn't have any of the problems I'm having now. I'm getting to the point that if something doesn't look right, I'm bouncing over to Chrome.
Please don't let FF slide into the same mess as IE!

Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have never managed to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, and they have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

Google Interactive Charts and Flex

Hi,
Has anyone successfully implement Google Interactive Charts into Flex? I believe Google Interactive Charts uses JavaScript but the output is in Flash format.

1- Yes, I downloaded the fxp from the bug https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDMV-2513. Compiled with 4.5 and I get what you see in the screen cap.
2 - For 4.1, I was able to solve my problem by unchecking "Use Flash Text Engine in MX Components" and using my own MXFTEText.css which excluded the use of RTE in LegendItem and DualStyleObject. This is not ideal because now those label will never handle RTL. It does however stop the majic dissapearance of my chart legends and axis labels...
Hopefully this will get attention one day

Interactive Charts in Numbers 3.0

I've read the help here but thus far haven't figured out how to use the new interactive charts that made their debut in Numbers 3.0. For me sliders don't slide and buttons don't push. So I'm "missing something." Well, actually, it seems I'm missing everything.
Ian gave an interesting example of an interactive chart created in Numbers 2.3. But these new ones in 3.0 (I think) are supposed to do something new.
Has anyone figured them out? If so, how-to examples and use cases (what would one use them for) would be much appreciated.

Well that turned out to be really easy! I added columns, chose the cells in the table, Chart>Interactive Chart and Numbers set up a chart with a slider that cycles through the rows (or columns, via the Plot Columns as Series/Plot Rows as Series switcher at lower left after clicking Edit Data References). Here I get eight different views on the data without an extra lookup table or a formula.
Not sure about the default colors, but this is convenient. And great for displaying data on an iPad to show people rather than printing out a whole bunch of different charts. Thanks!

I was able to create the parameters and now able to select the measure and facility and display that data in the table and chart.
Now I am trying to see if I can add a line(target values) on top of the column chart to show the whether the scores of each measures, for each quarters are how far from the target values.
Please let me know if this is possible.

CO-PA Characteristic hierarchies in reports

Hi Experts,
I am aware that characteristic hierarchies can be used in CO-PA reports by specify in the hierarchy dialog box while defining characteristics in reports - but this is during creating/changing the reports
My requirement is that I should be able to use this while executing the report.
From SAP help, I understand that we can also use this hierarchy function while executing the report also by selecting Edit --> Hierarchy --> Choose...in report executed - I am not able to use this function. When I go to the specified place in edit....this choose hierarchy option is greyed out and so not able to select it. This is not an issue of SAp access
Could you help me in using Characteristic hierarchies while executing the reports.
I am pasting here wordings here from SAP help -
"If hierarchies exist for a characteristic, you can have the system display that characteristic in a hierarchy either when you define the report or after you have executed it. This function displays the chosen hierarchy in its entirety. The characteristic values not contained in the hierarchy appear in the report list in the row "Other characteristic values". You can also drill down on this row if you wish.
To do so, choose the function Extras --> Choose hierarchy when you define the report or Edit --> Hierarchy --> Choose... after executing it"

This statement means that in the case of Customer or Product hierarchy, you can choose the hierarchy list after you have executed the report...
Similarly, if you create hierarchy for others chars in KES3, I think you should be able to choose the hierarchy once you have executed the report

The common features of report are column alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).
Using ALV, we can have three types of reports:
1. Simple Report
2. Block Report
3. Hierarchical Sequential Report
Interactive Reports
As the name suggests, the user can Interact with the report. We can have a drill down into the report data.

Interactive report provides you with comfortable functions for navigating through your data.
Use
Interactive report are used to display multiple list in one single report
It has basic list and then you can navigate to one or other screens in one single report
Enhance the efficiency & transparency of Business Processes
Example : Column one of the report displays the material numbers, and the user feels that he needs some more specific data about the vendor for that material, he can HIDE that data under those material numbers.
And when the user clicks the material number, another report (actually sub report/secondary list) which displays the vendor details.

Interactive chart in Numbers

Is it possible to delete bars in an interactive chart in Numbers? The chart part, not the table. In other words, the chart is too wide and I only want 3 bars, not 5.

Illustrating Badunit's point:
Click the chart, then Edit Data References. You will see something like this.
If you want to remove North from the chart you click it either in the chart or the blue dot in the table and hit delete.
As for printing it to pdf, if you don't want the table with it, you could click the chart, command-x to cut, add a new sheet (the big plus sign uper left), and in a new sheet command-v to paste. Then File > Print, select the sheet that has the chart chart, hit Print... lower right, and choose the PDF option lower left.

Interactive chart in version 3.1

I can create flash chart regions OK but when I use the Chart option on an interactive report, I get the links that say "Edit Chart" and View Report" but there is no chart on the page
Have I missed a vital step?
The source for the report is very simple : select name, value from table
and the chart is an interactive one based on label=name, column = value and function = sum.
I don't get any errors, just no chart (its like the chart is invisible) - the rest of the page displays correctly.

What version of the Flash Player do you have (to find out, right-click on any Flash object, and select "About Flash Player X...")? Version 9+ is required for the charts in interactive reports.

Why doesn't FF 16.0.2 display Yahoo! Finance Interactive Charts?

I've just installed the latest upgrade (Firefox 16.0.2) and it still won't load the Yahoo! Finance interactive charts. It works in Chrome, so it's not my Java installation. Any idea when this will be repaired?

You are reading text but comparing it to a number. The solution is to either compare to text such as "-1" or coerce the text item read to a number, e.g. set economy1 to text item 1 of fileContents as number. Don't forget to reset the text item delimiters.

Firefox will not open Basic Charts or Basic Tech. Analysis chart in Yahoo Finance. Regardless which of the 3 choices, only Interactive chart comes up ? ? ?

It worked earlier this week and still works in “Exploder”.

Limitations on Quiz and Interactivity - CP6

Are there any limitations in creating quiz and or interactivity[customized/templated] while making a course on iPad?
Currently doing R&D on Trial version of CP6, and not able to see some interactivity in the last output of HTML 5[interactivity like clickables and pie chart, except some].
Will be the same limitations in licensed version?

@Lilybiri: Currently having 15 plus interaction screens, with different types. If we customize the interactions, it works better.
And yes I tried different components in Custom settings of interaction, but is there any option to change particular text to different style[means can we apply different styles for particular words in sentence e.g. Heading in pop]?
