Google Interactive Charts and Flex

Hi,
Has anyone successfully implement Google Interactive Charts into Flex?  I believe Google Interactive Charts uses JavaScript but the output is in Flash format.
http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/geomap.html#Configuration_ Options
Please help!

Hi Alex,
1- Yes, I downloaded the fxp from the bug https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FLEXDMV-2513. Compiled with 4.5 and I get what you see in the screen cap.
2 - For 4.1, I was able to solve my problem by unchecking "Use Flash Text Engine in MX Components" and using my own MXFTEText.css which excluded the use of RTE in LegendItem and DualStyleObject. This is not ideal because now those label will never handle RTL. It does however stop the majic dissapearance of my chart legends and axis labels...
Hopefully this will get attention one day
cheers

  • From SharePoint2013 list item data how to create Google Interactive Chart?

    HI All,
From SharePoint2013 list item data how to create Google Interactive Chart?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
To push data from list items to Google Chart, we can use JavaScript Client Object Model or REST API to retrieve the data needed.
Here are two links about using JavaScript Client Object Model to access list items:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/hh185006(v=office.14).aspx
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/hh185007(v=office.14).aspx
From the links from the official site of the Google Chart, we can find out the method to populate data into Chart:

  • Interactive Charts in Numbers 3.0

I've read the help here but thus far haven't figured out how to use the new interactive charts that made their debut in Numbers 3.0.  For me sliders don't slide and buttons don't push. So I'm "missing something." Well, actually, it seems I'm missing everything.
Ian gave an interesting example of an interactive chart created in Numbers 2.3.  But these new ones in 3.0 (I think) are supposed to do something new.
Has anyone figured them out?  If so, how-to examples and use cases (what would one use them for) would be much appreciated.
    SG

    Hi Arthur,
Well that turned out to be really easy!  I added columns, chose the cells in the table, Chart>Interactive Chart and Numbers set up a chart with a slider that cycles through the rows (or columns, via the Plot Columns as Series/Plot Rows as Series switcher at lower left after clicking Edit Data References). Here I get eight different views on the data without an extra lookup table or a formula.
Not sure about the default colors, but this is convenient. And great for displaying data on an iPad to show people rather than printing out a whole bunch of different charts. Thanks!

  • Interactive chart in Webdynpro ABAP

    Hi Experts,
I would like to use this thread to discuss on SAP's recommendation to develop Interactive chart in Web dynpro ABAP .
Correct me if Iam wrong ,
    1) Business graphics can not be made interactive.
    2) With Gantt UI element ( I couldn't find documentation ).
    3) Interactive Chart in FPM ?
    4) Interactive Chart using FLEX Builder ?
    5) HTML Island ? Though not available for Customers with lower version of SAP ?
What is SAP's Road map w.r.t Interactive chart in Webdynpro ABAP ?
    Regards,
    Karthi M

    Hi Stuart,
Business graphics can be made interactive only with click action.
Gantt UI , Iam not finding any proper documentation. Cursing SAP for that.
If you are lucky enough to have latest version of SAP. Try with SAP UI5 which has got very good interactive capabilities of graph.

  • Finance Interactive Chart is blank in Firefox (for both Google and Yahoo Finance)

I've tried updating Java, Flash, Silverlight (it would really be nice to know for sure what Google and Yahoo Finance use). But they all were updated. I cleared my cache, tried restarting in safe mode (which is ironic because if the plugin isn't loaded, how is the site going to display the chart), hit Ctrl+F5, flipped off the monitor, but nothing is allowing the charts to display. I had previously allowed Adobe to update Reader and restart my computer, which I think led to the blank financial charts. Now I have to use Chrome or IE.

I've been using Firefox almost exclusively for years and didn't have problems with the Yahoo! Finance interactive charts until version 15. I just updated to 16.0.1 last evening and it didn't fix anything. I've updated Flash, tried <ctrl>f5 - nothing helps. Something was done in a recent update to create the problem. It would certainly be nice if this was undone and fixed.
Actually, I wouldn't mind downgrading a couple versions. I didn't have any of the problems I'm having now. I'm getting to the point that if something doesn't look right, I'm bouncing over to Chrome.
Please don't let FF slide into the same mess as IE!

  • Content Viewer and interactive charts

    Hello
I have created an interactive chart using HTML5 and Javascript and imported in InDesign using the Overay--> Webcontent.
The animation and the interaction is working well on the iPad2, but when I click on the screen to interact with the chart the menu of the Content Viewer is appearing and disappearing. I find this very disturbing.
Do you know how it is possible to avoid this? It would be nice if the menu would only appear when I click somewhere on the page but not on the interactive chart/web overlay.
Unfortunately on Android (Galaxy 10') the animation and interaction are visible but very very slow....
    Thanks!!

I am trying to open an interactive chart but I am getting a message saying I need to install flash but it is not compatible with iPad, is this correct or is there some way around it. Thank you.

Flash is not supported on the iPad - and as Adobe have never managed to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, and they have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it, it probably never will be
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

  • Interactive chart in report and PDF printing

    Dear all
is it possible to generate a chart (via an interactive report) and save that chart in PDF format? At the moment when I try and do this in my application I just get the raw data saved as PDF, not the actual chart.
    Many thanks
    Paul

    Hello,
If you want to have charts in your report, the best
way I know of is by using BI Publisher Desktop to
create your rtf with a chart, upload it to your
report layouts and call a report query with that
    report layout.
Marc Sewtz did a nice post about it:
    http://marcsewtz.blogspot.com/2007/04/one-question-tha
    t-is-often-asked-about.html
or you can check my blog for the bi publisher
    configuration.

    Hi Dimitri
unfortunately we dont have BI Publisher Desktop (as I think you have to pay extra for this :) ).
I take it that there is no freeware (or other way) to allow us to save the chart in PDF format?

  • Interactive report and corresponding chart at the same time

    Hi,
Is it possible to show interactive report and chart at the same time. I want to show chart beside the report.
    Any ideas or suggestion please?
    Thanks
    Aali

    Yes and no.
Yes you can simply create a new chart region. This will have its own independed query.
No. The chart that you can create with the IR-Chart feature replaces the normal table view.
What I usually do is to save the Chart as a named report and then you have it as an extra tab in your interactiv report.

  • Live Charts and Gauges in Interactive Reporting

    Hi All,
Im trying to create a Live chart and a Gauge for my dashboard in IR 11.1.1.3 Ver.
I see the them in the design mode.. but when i try to add the FACT value it doesnt allow me to do it.
Even if i try to see the report in the run mode i get blank screen.
I tried even with a simple result which has
    Fact Target
    Service1 100
    Service2 95
And can i use these Live charts and Gauges with Essbase as the source??
Is there any prerequisite for the Live charts and gauges to display the data..
Any document or post on the above problem will be helpful.

are you sure the adobe components are properly installed...can you open/view other analysis that use Live Charts or sliders/guages?

  • Problem with "Building interactive maps with Flex" example

I have been looking at the tutorial by Matt Sheehan Building interactive maps with Flex found at
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/interactive_maps.edu.html
I have downloaded  Flash Builder 4.6 trial version and followed the example. I have also copied the source code from the example and pasted that into the file mymodestmap.mxml.
In both cases the application opens a new page in Google Chrome but does not display any map data.
No errors or warnings are displayed when I run the code from Flash Builder.
Although I have got plenty of experience of writing software, I am a total beginner when it comes to developing web applications!
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong, I have attached the source below.

Technically, it's Javascript, not Java :) TOTALLY different beasts. I wish they'd never named it Javascript, it's ambiguous. So anyway, on to the point of the whole thing...
If you want quotes in your values, you'll need to write a function to replace " with \", and pass the values through it. So instead of javascript:passBack('#ENAME#','#JOB#','#SAL#'); you would have javascript:passBack(addslashes('#ENAME#'),addslashes('#JOB#'),addslashes('#SAL#'));. That would mean that ABC"DEF"GH would be passed to the function as ABC\"DEF\"GH and your quotes would stay intact. Search around on the internet for more specifics as to how to pass double quotes in javascript by using backslashes.

  • Yahoo Finance Interactive Charts Don't Work W/Safari

Does anyone know how to make the Yahoo interactive charts work with Safari? They seem to work only about 5% of the time. I had to download Google Chrome to have consistent views.

I changed the chart settings on Yahoo charts to "candlestick" instead of "line" type and that worked. I then changed the setting back to "line" type and it worked again. For now at least, the problem is solved. I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens...

    Hi,
About three days ago when you go to google finance and search and click on a stock the interactive chart is now no longer shown.
Did you thought about it that this could be on the other site and NOT you Mac connection.
Lately there are many problems with Google.
Did you try a other browser like Fire Fox or any other that you have to use?
Does your Safari surf the Internet without problems ... except the Google problem?

Flash player works. I can see finance charts in IE, but not Firefox 10. I can see finance charts on Yahoo in Firefox, but not Google finance charts. Main chart at google.com/finance is displayed. Individual stock charts don't.

  • Posing a question for those well versed in flash and flex

I would like to start an off-line communication chat with those of you who are well versed in Flash and Flex.
I've worked with Cold Fusion but I am not up to date on all the technologies available.  This seems like the perfect forum for this question.
I simply want to build an application (web or desktop is unknown) in which a person can learn a foreign language, in this case English.
I need some technical advice as to whether Flash, Flex, or a combination of technologies (Cold Fusion for server side functionality) is the best choice for this application.  I do not understand the technical aspects of Flash or Flex in building applications so I need the advice of you experts.
As with most foreign language textbooks, audio, or foreign language video training, the material is not interesting, not pertinent to daily life, and is great for late night insomnia.  I've never seen any type of foreign language training that is interesting, fun, or uses current events as part of the curriculum.
I would like to illustrate my idea with an example.  I want to use an existing English beginners textbook (for kids), scan the images in the textbook, store the content (rules of grammar) in a database and store example sentences in a database.
I would like to record basic audio sentences from the textbook (Do you know tomorrow's weather), incorporate some animation (baseball player hitting a home run), incorporate some basic video (purchasing an item at the grocery store), add a quiz, test question or puzzles, etc..
In addition, since this is a classroom setting and the kids are split into groups, I would like to store a seating chart with the kids names and pictures in a database.  After the first segment is finished (e.g. purchasing a toy at the store) the kids next perform an activty.  I want to use a combination of audio, video, and animation to explain the activity, give instructions, split the class into groups, and perform the activity.
As I mentioned before, I would like to start an off-line discusion for those of you who are willing to share some of you knowledge and experience with both Flash and Flex.  Since you are extremely busy, maybe you might be able to point me in the right direction.
Hopefully, some of you can provide some sound technical advice.
    Thanks in advance
    Michael Poplawski

This is an abitious project even for some-one well versed in flex/flash, i have to give you points for outstanding courage on this .
You need to cover quite a few areas in a project like this both for the client and the back end, you need a strong understanding of animation(either through code or the flash timeline), data parsing, logic trees for the quiz/test elements and a lot more before the first line of code would be written.
In Australia there are already a few companies using flex for online educational applications and at least 1 state educational Authority. A search on the internet will find several sites pertaining to flash/flex based online education software and this would be a starting point to give you an idea of the strength flex has in this area.
Beyond this it is not the sort of project that 'help' would be readily available for unless it was relating to very specific issues you could readily define. Also this is not the best forum to request this type of help as the forum is more about testing a beta product. I am sure that if you start learning about flex and have trouble understanding different aspects of how things work there will be plenty of support from the flex community.
