  • HT201269 iphone charger is messed up. wat do i do?

so my iphone 5 charger is beginning to get pretty messed up and i put electrical tape on the ends of it to help it a little buts it seems to still not work and is beggingin to say "accessory not supported" at times when i plug it into to charge sometimes. would i just bring  the charger into a apple store and tell them this this and that and they would give me a new one for free or would i have to pay for a new one? and this is the same charger that came with my iphone 5 when i bought it back in august 2013. please get back to me at [email protected] or on here. thank you

    Go buy a new one.

  • Is using a 12 volt charger bad for my iPhone 5?

Is using a 12 volt charger bad for my iPhone 5?  I just purchased the iPad Air and it came with the same lightning cable that was included with my iPhone 5.  The only difference is that the charger that came with my iPhone is a 10 volt and the one that came with my iPad Air is a 12 volt.  I find it would be easier if I could just use one cable instead of two, but I'm afraid that the12 volt charger would mess up my iPhone.  Can anyone help answer this question?

There is no problem using the iPad charger with the iPhone. I've been doing it for years because it's just easier. The iPhone will stop charging when it reaches capacity. If you look at the Apple Online Store, you'll see that the 12-volt charger they sell is listed as working for both iPhones and iPads.
    Best of luck.

  • Battery charging: When do you do it?

    Hey guys,
I've done searches on the forums and can't find the answer i desire. I know that the lithium batteries have charge cycles, and at least once a month you should fully drain, and fully charge the phone. And that there is no memory in the battery, so a partial charge shouldn't mess anything up (except the battery indicator)
But my question is, When do you charge it to make the battery last the longest. Not time between charges, but over all battery life. Everyone always complains you can't replace the battery yourself, and it is quite annoying to send your phone in for a replacement battery (oh hey, no phone for a month. great)
But what can we as end users do to have our batteries live a long life (and hopefully not lose it's charge capacity?
(also, i read that some applications don't shut down properly when you hit the home button. And to shut them down 100% you need to hold the button down for 8 seconds? is this true? where can i find more documentation on this? And is there anyway to "See" what apps are running? That would be a nice thing.)
    cheers,
    Chris

    Good point.
Problem is you don't have any control over the issue.
L-ion batteries typically have a recharge cycle of 500 times. Some confusion arises over what exactly a charge cycle is, is it full charge or incremental charges, so if I top-up say ten times, is that equal to one full charge? Experts will debate that one back and forth.
You plug in the USB cable and it starts charging, rather messes up your planned charging cycles, doesn't it?
Apple will need to redesign this phone to take extra capacity user replaceable batteries with a bulkier back panel ~ it has to become an option or even a neat lead to a belt battery, all features in use and the iPhone will last not much more than 2 hours, that's probably 4 full recharges in a day, that gives you 100 days, or a new battery every 3 months.
Obviously mileages vary ~ but at the rate I am using my iPhone, that's what my figures are panning out like.
My previous smart phone was charged each evening [mostly] expected life span one year and three months, it's still perfect after two years [but they do die quite quickly when they go].
Do please not here too, I could not play with my other phone the way I can with the iPhone ~ if I just used it as a phone, a charge a day would probably do too.
Most experts say that the L-ion battery has a total life span of no more than 3 years ~ from manufacture [not from sale of same]/

  • Let my battery die, plugged the adapter in but now it thinks it is charged.

My computer was fully charged when I let it sleep. I came back a few hours later to open my laptop when it died (my mistake). I plugged it back in to turn it on, it would start up but die again. I held the power button, it turned on but the charger icon says it is fully charged when it is not. It died a few minutes later. I am not sure if the charger is messed or if my battery is. The charger keeps saying it is charged but I know it is not. I have had this macbook for about 6 months and I do use is everyday so maybe it is the battery. Does that sounds right?

I think a lot of people use their Mac's everyday so after 6 months if yours is doing something like this it sounds like you have a battery issue. It'll still be under warranty so take it to an Apple Store and get your battery replaced, free of charge (i should imagine).

  • Problem with portable charger

I bought a portable charger for my iPod b/c I'll be away from my home computer for about 2 weeks at a time. I purchased it about a month and a half ago. And it worked fine. But now when I connect my iPod to the charger it diminishes the battery life but says its fully charged. Does anyone know what is wrong?
    5G

    Thank you. : )
It's my iPods battery. And Ive put it on the charger about half charged and when I look at it 5 minutes later the charger says my battery is fully charged but when I take it off its dead. No, I'm not able to use it unless my iPod has been hooked up to my computer.
My iPods also been acting weird with its battery life in general, not just with that charger. But the charger really messes it up. I've only had it since X-mas and it worked fine but here lately, it seems as if my battery will deplete rapidly. I

  • N8 charging fault

I've had my n8 for two years, my n8 will no longer charge through the USB port.  I'm confident that what triggered this is not giving the n8 enough time to fully charge several times in a row prior to the battery going dead.  Each time I "short" charged the phone for an hour or two and it showed full battery life after unplugging the charger, which I knew wasn't possible.  I'm posting this in case any Engineers at Nokia are interested in this problem.
Also, as an Electrical Engineer myself, and having worked with Lithium Ion batteries, phone manufacturers would be better off relying on the voltage as an indicator of capacity rather than the artificially derived capacity ratings which "adapt" overtime.

Like you, I've had my N8 for over 2 years and am starting to find both charging points very temperamental. They have to be connected just right and not moved whilst charging.
From reading the forum's it would appear we aren't alone.
If "short charging" has messed up your charge calculation you may need to do a full re-set and installation of the firmware.
I'd start with the Battery out reset and work upwards, not sure at what level the data is held.

  • Broken PlayBook - Bad Support - Running out of time :( THIS is how you treat your loyal customers?!?

    Hello,
I'm wondering if I can get some real help around here.
I've repeated my story too many times, and I'm just exhausted over trying to get my PlayBook replaced.
    Here's a brief summary;
My PlayBook started to show very strange issues a few months after purchase.  It would all of a sudden shut off even though the battery would have a good charge on it.
After this random shutdown, the PB wouldn't turn on and it took a lot of different tricks to make it power back up.  Once I could get it powered back on, the charging was messed up.  I would charge all day long and as soon as I unplugged it, it would turn off.
Another effect was that my AppWorld could no longer login.  I would be told there was an issue logging in over and over again.
The ONLY fix was to run the "de-brick" through the Desktop Manager.
Once the "de-brick" done, and after setting up my PB all over again it would work.
Sadly, this has happened over a dozen times.
I finally called support up and I spoke with an agent who was in all honesty, useless.  It took over 45 minutes (7 times I was put on hold!) to explain my problem and to finally get an RMA number.  It was the worst phone support I've had since I dealt with View Sonic back in 2005.
The line was full of static, there was a language barrier between myself and the support agent, and the amount of times I was on hold because the agent was incompetent killed me, but I got the RMA.
I specifically inserted a letter explaining all of the issues I have had (the one really but the occasions, how it happened, what I tried to do to resolve it) because I truly believe it needs replaced.
I got the PB back and it was the same one.  Initially it worked fine (they just did a "de-brick" as I'd done many times) but then the problem of shutting off out of nowhere, not turning back on initially, "charging" and AppWorld login problem came back.
I've tried to use "playbooksupport[at]blackberry.com with my original incident number as the subject line....
I get an autoreply saying "thanks for e-mailing, but you can't get support from here, e-mail us at [email protected] with your incident number as the subject.
.... REALLY!  You have e-mail support that automatically dumps back to the customer that they can't get support through the address, so use this same address to contact us.
I tried calling once again, but was waiting 40 minutes before I could get an agent, and once I did their line was such poor audio quality I told them "sorry I can't even hear you I'm hanging up"
Research in Motion.  I've been an avid BB user through 7 models now.  I purchased a PlayBook right when it came out.
WHY won't you replace my broken device, WHY is your support system to screwed up?
I try to believe there's a turn-around happening but my support for you after this experience has gone down quite a bit.
Please, help me REPLACE this device!  I don't know where else to turn as your suggested methods for support are not working at all for me.

I'd encourage you to try again, when you can, as soon as you can.

  • Can I purchase an Apple Care extended warranty for an iPad Air if I purchase it at Best Buy?

CAn I buy an Apple Care extended warranty for an iPad Air if I purchase it at Best Buy?

For me? Buying from best buy was my only option since the closest apple store is over an hour away. (and technically in another state)
Also, when I bought my iPod the warranty that Best Buy offered was far more comprehensive than Apple Care with accidental damage protection for up to 3 years.
And, when my iPad's charging port messed up, I took it into Best Buy and they swapped me out for a new one while at an Apple store I likely would have gotten a refurb.
When I swapped out my iPod 4 for my iPod 5 I took it into best buy, got $70 towards the purchase of the new device by trading in the old one.
Best Buy isn't perfect and not every store is a good one, but they are a good alternative or other option to explore for those buying devices.
I think my biggest beef when buying my iPad and later iPod at Best Buy is when I bought my iPad I bought the screen protector and they wanted to charge me to apply it...and it kinda rankled for me to be plunking down over $600 dollars to have them want to charge me $15 for a screen protector install.

  • Any possible chance?

is there any possible chance that i could get apple into giving me a free replacement battery and a replacement charger? my battery is at like 54% capacity or whatever and is at 330+ cycles. my current charger has messed up wires inside it so it doesn't work anymore. my mbp is early 2008 so i'm pretty sure it's not on warranty. i never registered my computer though, so i'm not positive.

No there's no chance of a free battery after 330 cycles and 3 years you have to buy it yourself.

  • Battery drainage

Got Ipod Touch 32g. Been playing music for a little over an hour and the battery is half drained. Supposed to be 36 hours??? The screen is lit but I can't see how to have it auto shut off while playing, maybe that's the problem. I can't download the user manual for some reason to find an answer. Can someone help?

I think you might have a defective one because the battery should be able to last a whole lot longer. Turn off wifi, push data, set fetch data to manual, and turn off Nike Plus if it's on. If you as using more than just music it should still last longer than that. Also make sure your charger isnt messed up because I had one and it messed up m battery life. And turn off the screen when it's not in use by pressing the sleep/awake button. This should give you atleast 20 (or more) hours of battery life with just music. Of it doesn't then return it. BTW I have an iPod touch 2G myself.

  • Serious issues with brand new macbook

hello i bought a new macbook last week in australia. i have since left and now am in thailand traveling, and wont be going back to australia.
two days ago i used the extension lead that came in the box for the adaptor for the first time, and it will not come off not, its stuck fast.
then tonight i tried to use the optical drive for the first time since purchase to look at a cd of photos of my husbands work.i noticed it was VERY sticky ,and didnt want to accept the disk at first. then it finally did, and then it wouldnt recognise it, and tried to spit it out. however, it wouldnt come out. on closer inspection i saw that the foam thingy around the drive that protects it from dust, was all sucked in and buckled, and overlapping . half of it was off and so i pulled the rest off to try and have e the disk eject. no luck. finally had to do the fix apple recommends with the paper clip.
i also tried a dvd movie, and it did the exact same thing, froze my computer and all
    so not impressed.
so , my question here is, is this a replacement issue? i mean, the optical drive, it never worked once, and the charger is messed too. feels like a faulty machine to me, and i would like a new one.
problem is, there is no apple store here, just an authorised service center. will they give me a replacement? im leaving in two days to travel on, and cant be without my computer!
    thanks

Bring the computer and receipt with you to the store. Generally, you can return a machine within 7~14 days of purchase, but you may hit a snag since you aren't going back to the same store. It certainly can't hurt to ask if these folks would be willing to replace your machine since it has two major issues already.

  • Emerging problem with portable drives?

Since recently acquiring a new MacBook Pro (unibody). I have noticed that at least one of my portable drives (LaCie, Firewire 400) it no longer mounted when I shut the machine down and later re-boot. The drive is connected via a good quality FW 800 to FW 400 cable. The drive presents no problems when similarly connected to any of my other equipent either by FW 400-FW 400 or by FW 800 - FW 400 using the same cable, or similar but different make. I have disovered that simply unplugging the FW 800 end, and then re inserting it into the FW 800 port on my MacBook Pro results in the drive mounting. I put this down to just the cussedness of life until I recently visited a customer also using a LaCie Firewire 400 external drive on one of the most recently produced unibody MacBook Pro's and one of his problems was… just as I reported above. I don't belive in co-incidence. Is anyone else experiencing what I am starting to belive might be a problem with either the MacBook Pro hardware or the Mac OS start up process?

    Thank you. : )

  • My iphone chager not working

my iphone charger keeps messing up and saying this charger is not supported with accesory  this really annoys me can u help

The problem is most likely with the dock connector on your phone. Try cleaning it...look closely for crud or a bent pin...it doesn't take much to produce the message you're getting.
