Charging from powered USB h

Can the Zen V Plus be charged from a powered USB hub? I'm assuming it can but just wanted confirmation.

Zeek5,
As long as the hub is powered then yes it can be.

  • Nokia 6700 - Charge from Micro USB?

    Hi,
The 6700 manual confirms that the phone can be charged from both microUSB and the standard mini charge but what it doesn't say is that the only way to charge using the microUSB port is to connect the phone to a PC or Laptop. If you plug the USB cable into any other type of USB charge device, including USB charge adapters (such as the iPhone charger) or a standard car 12v socket > 5v USB adapter the phone issues an error confirming charge method is not accepted.
I thought the whole point of phone companies agreeing to the new microUSB standard was to permit charging using any USB port? It seems Nokia have limited the charge capabilities of this phone and it is a right pain.
Come on Nokia, please fix this with the next firmware update !!

This is odd, because Nokia lists their AC-10 microUSB mains charger as compatible. I had thought the device rejects any current above the trickle charge from a standard PC USB cord, but if it works with the Nokia microUSB charger, it should accept higher currents (1200mAH). In which case the Nokia charger must be "talking" to the phone over USB to give it approval.
On the other hand, the manual doesn't mention support for USB mains chargers at all, so maybe including the AC-10 on the peripherals list is a goof.
Hopefully this doesn't extend to Nokia's other USB-charging phones, I have plenty of generic USB chargers around.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

  • Curve 9300 - Charging from 5v USB

I want to be able to charge my BB from a 5v USB lead and at the moment I'm getting the cannot charge message. It will charge from a Kindle USB mains charger, 850ma output, and the Kindle will charge from the 5v USB lead. The 5v USB has a current output of 2A, which should be fine.
    Any ideas out there?

  • Why does N97 charge from some USB port and some no...

OK some seem to have same sort of troubles but I couldn't find an answer to this one...
So I have a N97 that charges OK when I plug it in computers USB port or in a (powered) hub.
But I also have a USB power adapter that I can plug in a wall socket and it has one USB port (5V/1A) and nothing happens.
Same happens when I plug it in my car using a USB adapter (not a actual car charger for N97).
Since every other phone/MP3-player/device that can be charged via USB works with these, I have to asume that this is something with my phone...
Has anyone else faced this and have found any solutions?

OK I have some additional info to this one.
I made some experiments with different chargers and cabels and here is the most interesting result (in my oppinion)...
In both cases I used my N97 and the USB power adapter (with 5V/1000mA output).
Only difference was how I connected the two...
By using the data cabel (Nokia CA-101) that came with the phone and nothing it DOES NOT charge the phone.
(and yes it is working cable, since I use it to sync my phone with my PC and it does charge the phone via PCs USB).
By using USB->2mm plug adapter (Nokia CA-100) and the 2mm plug->micro-USB adapter (CA-146C) it DOES charge the phone.
Since CA-100 converts USB to more simple connector then there must be something more happening inside CA-146C than just relaying those wires forward...
    Any ideas???

  • E7 won't charge from a USB charger - can anyone he...

Just got my E7 earlier this week.  It will charge perfectly using the mains adaptor, and when I connect it to my PC via USB, it charges, but it will not work with the car USB charger that I have.  I know the charger works, because I have used it on other phones, but it will not work on my E7.
Any ideas if there is anything I can do to fix this?  Will be a problem if I am using my E7 as primary music source or sat nav with no way to charge it when out and about in the car.

with regards to car charger it does depend on the voltage , I have a couple and only one works with the E7 , if the phone charges with mains and usb to computer it's obviously the actual car charger that's incompatible , if the phone won't charge at all then the fault is with the handset which requires repair or replacement under warranty !

  • IPhone 5c charging from PC USB port, but PC won't recognize device.

Just got an iPhone 5c today, working pretty well except for when I plug it into my PC, the phone will charge, but my PC will not detect that it has been plugged in; not allowing me to sync it with iTunes, or put pictures straight to my computer.
Anybody know of a solution? I tried "CopyTrans'" solutions, but they didn't work. This hasn't happened with my iPod Touch Gen 4, or my iPhone 4.

Okay, umm.. Just installed iOS 8.1, when it finished; my computer recognized it. But then it suddenly just started frantically beeping(Windows Connect/Disconnect bleeps). Moved it to a new port, and it no longer detects it. Moved it back to the original port, and will no longer detect it..

  • Not charging from USB

Since a few weeks ago, my iPhone 4 wont charge from the USB cable plugged into various computers. I bought another plug and tried with the USB cable in the same PC's. This worked for 4 days and now doesn't work again.
    Any idea's ?

You may of damaged one of your pins in your docking port. Each pin does something different so some things may work (like computer sees phone and you can sync) but pin(s) for charging are damaged (or dirty).
Try cleaning your docking port of any debris or lint.

  • How to charge from pc

    how to charge from pc

The USB port on your computer does not provide enough power for a normal charge cycle. While it may charge when connected to a pc the charge cycle will take a very LONG time compared to using the charger that came with your iPad. When connected to the pc so little charge is being received by the iPad that the iPad will show not charging on its screen.
My suggestion is to use the charger that came with your iPad and plug it into a wall outlet.

  • E5 WON'T CHARGE FROM PIN HOLE

My E5 has stopped taking a charge from the original charging (PIN) Port. It will only charge from the USB port now. I hate having to turn my computer on just to charge my fone. Any suggestions?

Have you verified that the charger is providing current to your phone? You may want to contact a Nokia Care point to have the charger checked.

  • Unable to charge from sync cable

After installing activesysnc 4.5 I can't seem to make my phone charge from the usb sync cable.  I know there is power coming through the cable because it would charge my Palm 700p through the palm desktop software.  Is there a setting that I just can't find?  I've installed the Palm software and installed and reinstalled activesync 4.5.

  • Will an Apple Iphone 3g charge from a Powered USB Hub while the computer is

    Hello,
Will an Apple Iphone 3g charge from a Powered USB Hub while the computer is sleeping?
I have a Motorola SLVR L7, two BCK-08 Bluetooth Stereo Headsets and two iPower Secondary iPhone batteries that all charge from my Powered USB Hub while my main computer is sleeping.
It would seem that my iPhone 3g will not charge from a Powered USB Hub while the computer attached to it is sleeping?
Is there any way to get an Iphone 3g to charge from a PoWeReD UsB HuB while the computer it is attached to is sleeping?
I'm thinking in terms of greening things ... but this is making me leave a 170 Watt computer running while I sleep ... I don't use the computer much while asleep ...
    Thanks for your time,
    Bobby

    How 'linux' is OS X?
In linux you can get a lot of USB information by typing "+lsusb -v+"
    or through "/proc/bus/usb/devices"
(but they would both list everything connected via USB)
if you knew the vendor and device id you could type as an example
    +(laptop:/proc/bus/usb) # lsusb -v -d 050d:805c+
    +Bus 001 Device 008: ID 050d:805c Belkin Components+

    +idVendor 0x050d Belkin Components+
    +idProduct 0x805c+
    +bcdDevice 0.01+
    +iManufacturer 1 Ralink+
    +iProduct 2 802.11 n WLAN+
    or
    /proc/bus/usb/devices
    +T: Bus=01 Lev=02 Prnt=03 Port=02 Cnt=01 Dev#= 8 Spd=480 MxCh= 0+
    +D: Ver= 2.00 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1+

In windows under details it lists the parent ID (port above) so if you found the USB port the iPhone was connected to ... you could find the hardware and vendor id or name of the hub it was plugged in to ...
I'm thinking it might be easier and more positive to start a thread requesting that anyone who has an iPhone that will charge from their computer through a USB Hub while that computer is sleeping ... but I don't know if I can start a thread with a title that long ...

  • [MuVo Slim] Charging from USB p

    Hi
Over on the Nomadness MuVo forum someone asked about how to charge a MuVo Slim when away from their PC as it charges via the USB port.
I answered that if all they needed was a powered USB hub then they could buy an external, self-powered hub and then connect the player to it, without it being connected to a PC.
Would this work or does the player need to be connected to the PC for the charging cycle to begin? Or does it just need the power that the port supplies?
    PB

Yes, I also tried this with a CyberPower 420 MP USB hub that is battery powered with an on/off switch http://www.cyberpowersystems.com/CPH420MP.asp But even with that hub turned on, it would not charge the Slim unless I connected the hub to a PC.
I use the Zen Micro charger to charge my Slim when I'm not near a PC. I had read an SSR post on this board where he recalled that someone had said that combo (Slim and Micro charger) would work. The Zen Micro charger provides 000mA, which is high for a flash MP3 device (higher is good) from 5V. So I tried it and it has worked fine. (I had a Zen Micro as well as the Slim, so it cost me nothing extra.)

  • U430 powered USB 2.0 port charges devices but does not recognizze

I just got a U430.  I noticed that any devices plugged into the powered USB port on the right side of the computer will charge, but the computer does not recognize them.  I tried disabling/enabling all the USB hubs in the Device Manager, unselected the option to have Windows turn them off to save power, and did the same in the BIOS.  I can't seem to update the drivers as it says they are all the most recent ones.  Any thoughts?  This seems like a recurrent problem with other Lenovo products, and I don't see a real solution in most of the threads.  The OP just stops replying.
    Thanks!

    hi turtl631,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Just to verify, what are the devices (brand/model) that you've tried so far? Also, is the machine running Windows 8 / 8.1?
If a flashdrive won't work and you're running Windows 8.1, kindly check this thread for a possible resolution.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Powered USB charging issue

I purchased a Dynex powered USB hub. It's a four port hub and works fine for my M-Audio interface, my iPod Touch 5th gen, iPod Classic... basically anything I plug into it. However, when I plug in my iPad2 it connects to iTunes fine and transferring files is okay, but a message pops up beside the battery icon saying "iPad not charging".
If I unplug the powered USB hub from the wall all the other devices continue to work, but now the iPad is completely unrecognized.
I've tried resetting the iPad and unplugging all the other devices.
It's a drag having this hub in an easy to reach location and still having to reach over to my MacBook in the farthest corner of my desk to plug in my iPad.
Any thoughts/suggestions? Is this common? Should I try another hub at the risk of waisting more money?
    Thanks for any feedback.
MacBook 2008 latest Lion, iPad2 (late model) latest IOS 6

The power output from the hub is not the required 10W to charge the iPad (it is charging, but very slowly).
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPad not charging from USB

New iPad owner here. I was wondering if it's normal for the iPad to only charge from the wall charger and not via USB. It syncs up fine but I get the "Not Charging" message as long as its connected to my computer via USB.

I think it is weird that it doesn't charge to any USB-port except the ones on my MacBook Pro. I have USB hubs in my Apple monitor that normally have enough power to supply anything that needs power. I have a standalone powered USB-hub that gives a lot of power. But none of them will charge my iPad.
Other equipment will give you a message that it need more power than the connection has, why doesn't that happen when you connect the iPad to a USB-port that it will not charge from.
My two ports on the MacBook Pro are occupied and it is not an option to connect the iPad there and it is annoying to connect the USB charger and then later connect it to the computers USB-feed.
    Not good!
