Chatter email 502 5.5.1 Unrecognized command Sending Error
I have a Treo 680 (Rogers) that I have been successfully using Chatter email with for about 6 months (multiple email accounts). No changes have been made in configuration however today when I try to send email messages I'm receiving a 502 5.5.1 Unrecognized command Sending Error message and can not send email messages on any accounts. I can still receive however. Any suggestions?

Hi Paul,
May you please guide me thru the SMTP configuration.
By the way, I tried to implement the APEX_MAIL and it's delivering the mails internally but not externally. When I check the Mail log all mails appear but when I check my yahoo account there's no mail delivered but in the internal mail there's mail delivered.
Here's my application level On Demand process code (On Demand: Run this application process when requested by a page process)DECLARE l_id number; l_index number; l_vc_arr2 APEX_APPLICATION_GLOBAL.VC_ARR2;
BEGIN l_id := APEX_MAIL.SEND(p_to => :P19_EMAIL,
p_from => :P19_FROM,
p_subj => :P19_SUBJECT,
p_body => :P19_BODY);
l_vc_arr2 := APEX_UTIL.STRING_TO_TABLE(:P92_IMAGE);
FOR i_index IN 1..l_vc_arr2.count LOOP
FOR c1 in (select filename, photo, mimetype from employee_tb
where emp_id = l_vc_arr2(i_index))
loop APEX_MAIL.ADD_ATTACHMENT( p_mail_id => l_id,
p_attachment => c1.photo,
p_filename => c1.filename,
p_mime_type => c1.mimetype);
END LOOP c1;
END LOOP i_index;
COMMIT;END;
-- push the e-mail queue for immediate delivery:
begin
wwv_flow_mail.push_queue(
P_SMTP_HOSTNAME => 'mail host',
P_SMTP_PORTNO => '#'
end;Kind regards

Hi
My exchange environment consist with "Server Exchange 2010 SP3" and "Edge Server with Exchange 2010 SP3".
On Edge server in SMTP receive log i get every now and then an entry: xxxxxx 500 5.3.3 Unrecognized command.
It is serius problem because I got few e-mails from senders that they had problem with sending e-mail messages to our e-mail domain. They receive e-mail report, for example
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the server for the recipient domain domena.plby
mail.domena.pl.
[95.xxx.xxx.xx].
The error that the other server returned was:
500 5.3.3 Unrecognized command
Could you help me to solve this problem? What could cause this problem?
Thank you in advance
Tomasz
Kind Regards TomaszI have the same issue, but there is plenty of hard disk storage on the Exchange Server. This seems to only be happening from Google Business account/ Postini. If I send message from my personal Gmail account it works fine, but an agency who is on Google
business seems to have issues sending to us and they are delayed, sometimes they get through and other times they just don't.
Results from Mail Acceptance Test:
I enter my internal address and the remote users postini account as the test setup I received two emails from the tool but the end results of the test are:
Error submitting mail
Mail submission failed: Error message: Syntax error, command unrecognized. The server response was: 5.3.3 Unrecognized command.
Google support stated this:

As you can see, on line 9, at 03:26:35, we declared to the receiving server what we were about to send. At the line number 10, almost two minutes passed without an authorization (250 OK) from the receiving server. You can see our status being pushed back
at that moment to the receiving mail server: SMTP:Delivery still in progress after 90 seconds. Two more minutes later the connection was simply dropped and so we generated a 400 error message to encourage the sending server to try again later (since no bounce
was given per say from the receiving server, we won't hard-bounce it but defer it).
I hope this will help. you can try to look in the mydomain.com inbound logs and see at that exact time what happened? Unfortunately, our visibility pretty much ends there as we don't have full visibility of your mail environment. You'll need to investigate
within your own environment unfortunately. If you have any more information to share with me, in case it might help me help you, feel free to do so. I'll leave this case opened for now.
Sincerely,
Patricia

This is my problem:
I have Archlinux x86_64 with Gnome (last version).
I try to install the driver for my printer epson sx218 but when I compile the bash show:

See `config.log' for more details.
now, I see the config.log file and I see the line:

I'm trying to send mail WTH of below given proc, but I got ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 500 5.3.3 Unrecognized command error, however I'm able to send mails WTH of a java program for the same mailhostNot an Oracle error. Irrelevant what the Java code do as you could be doing something different using UTL_SMTP, you could be running it from a different IP address, etc. Also the message seem to be very clear that you are sending an invalid SMTP command to the server.
If UTL_SMTP fails with a SMTP error, it means that the mail server itself reported an error. Thus this is not an Oracle error, a problem with the database, etc.
What it typically is, is:
a) the client code incorrectly conversing SMTP (and not sticking to the correct SMTP commands and sequence)
b) the client requesting the SMTP server something that is not supported (like relaying mail)
In all cases, the easiest method to troubleshoot this is not to use PL/SQL and UTL_SMTP at all, but to interactively converse with the mail server from the Oracle database server
1) ssh or telnet or open a command/shell console on the Oracle server
2) using telnet, connect to the mail server (e.g. telnet mail-server.abc.com 25 )
3) repeat the same command sequence as your PL/SQL code does (these should be typically the HELO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA and QUIT command in this sequence)
If you like to know more about the SMTP protocol, read [RFC 821 - Simple Transfer Mail Protocol|http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc821.html] - this is the official specification for the protocol. Also read RFC 2554 ( SMTP Service Extension for Authentication ) in case your mail server supports authentication extensions. -
Compiling failed with "unrecognized command line option '-Wl'" error
Helllo,
I have here a fresh installation of Archlinux and I fall into troubles with compiling a few of applications from AUR.
The problem is this:
gcc: error: unrecognized command line option ‘-Wl’
It happens for example with bubblefishymod package from AUR. I've never seen this error.
Any suggestion, what is wrong, please?
I have 64bit Archlinux installation, intel core i5, base-devel package group is installed.Seems like a straightforward error message. Read about -Wl in "man gcc" if you want to know more.
In the meantime, removing "-Wl" from the LDFLAGS in the Makefile (I used a sed line in the PKGBUILD) should allow you to compile it successfully. Whether or not it works as expected though, is another matter entirely. Contact the author and get him to fix his Makefile. -

Chatter Email contact to discuss new features?
Hi,
I bought Chatter email a while ago, and it has met my needs, more-or-less.
However, there are a couple of new features I'd like to suggest...but the closest thing I could find to a contact for the Chatter folks was this forum.
Is there an email address to which I can send my suggestions?
They are the following:
* OpenPGP support. We are using Thunderbird, GnuPG, and the t-bird Enigmail plugin to develop an end-to-end encrypted email infrastructure, and using Imap for a "email anywhere" capability. But reading pgp-encrypted mail (via Imap) on Chatter isn't possible. (yet?)
* Quick-search functionality to find items through their header information. It would be nice to have the same kind of search found in other email clients, such as Thunderbird, mutt, or even gmail.com -- as it is -- with my phone -- to find a needle in the haystack that is my mailbox, I have to ssh in to my mail server and run mutt.
Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks,
-Scott
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)Unfortunately, it appears Palm has ended development (and perhaps support) for this application.

Why can I not attach a document to an email? Every time I want to send an email with a document attached to it, an error notice pops out. It tells me that the file is being used even when iall other programs are closed. How can I fix this issue?
Thanks Jeff, I was not aware that a template could be multi-page. (All the existing templates were 1 page)
But it worked, saving me some steps. When I was finished I renamed the document, and locked it.
Then tried to save it but could not because it was locked. I closed it, went to my Spread Sheet Folder ,
to find it, it was not there. The Finder could not find it either.
So I start over again.
I opened up Numbers and it showed my personal Numbers template folder, it contained both my new
original 4 page template and the vanished saved document!
I tried to delete the template containing these document data and could not - I had to go to the Library/Application Support/Numbers to physically remove it from this folder. Then I started over again. I Finally found out how to make it work: I can now "save as", and then lock, and it will go to place where I want it to be saved and locked.
The secret is: Click on the document title in the menu bar, and it opens up "Save as...", which works the same as in OS 10.4.11, and you can pick the place you want for saving. Once done that, you can then lock the document in the same pull down menu, and then close it.
I also found later that I can delete a template from its folder, by letting Numbers open the templates,
clicking on the one I want to remove, then go to the "Numbers Menu/File/Move to...", select "Desktop"
and from there the selected template can then be thrown into the Trash from there.
It appears now that the real fault of the Numbers software is that the "Save as" command is not available in the "Edit" or "File" pull-down menus, but hidden behind the title of the document. -

Hi Charles,
I used a portlet you created first but not in trunk. (as sakai-dash.war
file) This might be older one.
From catalina.out i get following logs.First, as always i get:

And then, when i logged into portal, i get the following message:

That's all what i see in catalina.out.
By the way, we are using Cisco CSS (Content Switch) for Load Balancing
process.
Behind CSS, there is apache server and application server installed on two
servers which mentioned in this page
http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/DOC/Sakai+2.4+Admin+Guide+-LoadBalancing+and+Scaling
http://confluence.sakaiproject.org/confluence/display/DOC/Sakai+2.4+Admin+Guide+-LoadBalancing+and+Scaling
as thin client .
CSS DNS address = sucourse.sabanciuniv.edu
App server DNS address = sakws1.sabanciuniv.edu and sakws2.sabanciuniv.edu
It is enough to type sucourse.sabanciuniv.edu address in web browser.
Their sakai.properties files are similar. However, there are following
parameters that i didn't use in my sakai.properties file. May be i should
use them. !!
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
Now, i have changed my connection type by connecting Campus VPN server with
Checkpoint VPN client, i got my sakai course pages correctly via sakai
portlet. However, in campus i had same problem today.
So, like i said, the situation is changing due to unknown reason.
From portlet, i clicked on any course, i get blank screen with followingaddress in web browser address bar.
https://sucourse.sabanciuniv.edu/sakai-login-tool/container?sakai.session=02274ca6-fc19-413c-80d9-4332ae4e4499&ticket=ST-5342-bLIfR5lVs29HB1ZAeRrMA3bbmQtVWRJqQ6N-20
That's all.
Thank you for your response Charles !

A4 APPEND "Sakai-Dev List" (\Deleted \Seen NonJunk) "21-Aug-2007 16:37:20 -0400" {7024+}
As far as I can see, there's nothing wrong with the syntax of that command.
My first guess is that Exchange is unhappy with the flags. Possibly
it refuses to append a message with the \Deleted flag set. If you're
willing to modify the flags in the source mailbox, I would try turning
off the DELETED flag. Or, try not copying deleted messages.
If that doesn't work, the next thing to try is to get rid of all of the
flags. You might want to copy the message into a local copy
in order to lose all the flags from the original. -
I can not open attached documents sent on my email, sent to me or when I send them to others, ? Why ?

Javax.mail.MessagingException: A5 BAD Command Argument Error. 12;
This error appeared on mailboxes hosted on Exchange 2007. It happens when a folder is searched with 11+ OR terms. It works fine with <= 10 subjectTerm items OR'ed together. The search term does not matter. The mailboxes are migrating from Exchange 2003 where the problem does not occur. I tested 51 OR'ed subject terms against the 2003 mailbox and it works fine. I didn't test beyond 51 terms.
I upgraded to JavaMail 1.4.2 and the problem still exists.
I'm not sure if this is a JavaMail bug or an error with Exchange 2007.
Here is the output generated with session debugging enabled against Exchange 2007:

HT1338 Command Argument Error. 11
I am using Mac Office on a relatively new MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.2 which is all updated and running well.
However, just lately I keep getting the above error message;
"COMMAND ARGUMENT ERROR.11"
appear every tme I open Outlook, the message will repeat for all email accounts on outlook.
I have cleared everything out of any junk any trash, cleared cookies anything I can think of.
Does anyone know what this is, and how to get rid of??Absolutely fantastic advice. Thank you so much. I was receiving this error message and had read various scary stories about needing to reinstall Outlook and deleting identities etc. The simple step you advise resolved the issue. Thanks again

I found out that you would received this message when attempting to send a big file, if you deleted it goes to the deleted folder at the IMAP server so the exchange will still send you those message back. I got rid off the file from the deleted and sent items in the exchange server and it solved my problem. -
We purchased a new iPad2 and registered it using a 'new' iCloud email/ID. We are unable to send email from the iPad and iPhone. The error is:>> Cannot send mail. The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect.
About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

How do I delete stored email addresses in my iphone? When sending photos, I don't want to have certain email addresses "popping up" from the internal memory, I've deleted my entire "Contact" list but they still appear. Help please!
As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.
