  • BIDS 2008 DataFlow viewer not showing even though the sql statement returns data

    Have a dataflow and trying to see why no rows are being written to the destination.  I popped a viewer on the connection, but it doesnt show up when I run.  What can I check?
    The DataFlow source runs a sql statement and it runs fine and returns a result.

    Why would that be if I can execute the sql statement that is being used in the OLEDB Source, and I get a result, yet the destination gets no rows afterwards.  Even executing the Dataflow task by itself, no rows are written.
    I do have a script task that modifies the connection before the dataflow, but this was working fine yesterday :)
    Even so, if there was a problem with the connection, I would get an error.  There no no errors, it just sees no rows and the dataviewer is never displayed.
    What the heck can I check?

  • How to view the SQL statement generated during execution of the BW Query?

    Dear Experts,
    I am trying to retrieve data in a SAP BW Query from a Non-SAP system.
    I think if I am able to see the complete SQL statement that was generated when I executed the BW Query, I may be able to use it to retrieve the data.
    Do you know how and where I can see the SQL statement of a BW Query's SQL statement?
    I tried RSRT options to execute the Query but still could not find the SQL statement.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Shunhui.

    hi
    goto rsrt
    give your query name
    select execute + debug option

    A system assertion check has failed. Check the SQL Server error log for details. Typically, an assertion failure is caused by a software bug or data corruption. To check for database corruption, consider running DBCC CHECKDB. If you agreed to send dumps to
    Microsoft during setup, a mini dump will be sent to Microsoft. An update might be available from Microsoft in the latest Service Pack or in a QFE from Technical Support.
    Msg 0, Level 20, State 0, Line 0
    A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.

    If you check your sql server error log folder you will see dump files created. You need to send those dump files to Microsoft for inspection because outside of microsoft product support the symbols for reading the dumps are not available without which it
    wont be easy to find the issue.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028589
    In the meantime check if you are on the latest version of Service Pack and if not apply the latest service pack. Majority of these kind of assertions are bugs which are solved in Service Packs/Cumulative Updates.

  • How to check the SQL error message to address the application issue

    Dears,
    The application runs SQLs against Oracle via oracle client(actually the app is IBM Cognos which shows report and the data is from oracle database). So, for a report which fails to run, I want to check the sql and the error message for this failed sql statement. Where is the message stored, client or server and How to get it?
    I know there is a view v$log used to check the sqls ran in database but here I mean the failed sqls....
    Thanks,
    Ricky Ru

    The application only presents the application error message.. And it is not helpful for me to get the root cause..The application uses the Oracle Call Interface to communicate with the database server. OCI calls return a result code to the client. The client is expected to call OCIErrorGet() to get the full error text.
    If the client does not do this, or obfuscate the server error, or suppress the server error? Crappy client. The lack of the client to play its role as client, correctly within the documented client-server architecture, is solely the client's problem. Not the server.
    For DB2, I could use db2diag to check the log. why oracle can not do this? any thoughts?Because Oracle is not stupid? Why on sweet mother earth waste server resources to track client application errors, on behalf of clients? How does this make ANY sense!?
    Oracle server's handles 1000's of SQL executions per second. Just where is it to find sufficient space to log application errors (not database system errors) at that rate? How do you justify that overhead? Using the argument that the application is poorly designed or written? Come on!

  • Error when generating the SQL statement while running the Query

    Hello SDN Mates,
    Am using three cubes in one infoset and build a query on that. Intially it was running fine, but now am getting error generating the SQL statement. Can you please throw some light on this. Your idea would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards
    Arun S

    Hi Arun
    is there any change in the objects (Check also the consistency of infoobject ) included in infoset, just make sure those are active, open the query in designer and check if no error/warning message are present

    Hi,
    This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
    Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as
    Server Configuration Manager(Local)
    From here I folllowed the steps ---[I cannt insert link/image :-(]
    SQL 2008/R2 setup fails with "Wait on the database engine recovery handle failed"
    If I right clicked on SQL Server Service, there is no option to change the account.
    Hello,
    Thanks for your patience,did you tried stesp mentioned in below article
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqljourney/archive/2012/03/16/sql-2008-r2-setup-fails-with-quot-wait-on-the-database-engine-recovery-handle-failed-quot.aspx
    To resolve it, follow these steps:-
    When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
    been created. Check the Services console.
    If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
    1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
    it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.
    Use this link to change sql server service account
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
    2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
    3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
    4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
    5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
    6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
    Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
    7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
    You should be able to log in to the server now.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Setting the sql statement

    http://www.egbolig.dk/drift_bo_syd.rpt (HERE IS THE REPORT)
    We are using SAP Crystal Report .NET Runtime files (http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7824 newest version 13.0.9.1312) in our web asp.net application. Everything have been working fine, but we have can into problems when showing the certain kinda reports.
    In our code get the reports sql statement using getSQLStatement.
    Dim gp As New GroupPath() Dim sql As String = report.ReportClientDocument.RowsetController.GetSQLStatement(gp)
    This will get the sql, and we use this sql (getSqlStatement) and attach a sql WHERE clause from the code to only get a certain number of records.
    The report Drift_bo_syd.rpt has 5 tables, and the following sql statement.
    Database/Show Sql Statement
    SELECT "rekvstam"."Sel", "rekvstam"."Afd", "rekvstam"."Levadresse", "rekvstam"."Rekvisition", "rekvstam"."Lejemaal", "rekvstam"."Lejer", "rekvstam"."Udfoertaf", "rekvstam"."Udfoertdato", "rekvstam"."Krit", "Selskab"."Adresse", "Selskab"."Postby", "Selskab"."Tlf", "Selskab"."Fax", "rekvstam"."Kontor", "rekvstam"."Hjemme", "rekvstam"."Rekvdato", "rekvstam"."Aftale", "rekvstam"."InitialRet", "rekvstam"."Arbejde", "kreditor"."Att", "rekvstam"."Konto", "Selskab"."Navn", "Selskab"."Email", "Interessentadresse"."Navn", "Interessentadresse"."Adresse", "Interessentadresse"."Postby", "Interessentadresse"."Email1", "Interessentadresse"."Telefon_Fax", "Interessentadresse"."Type", "Interessentadresse"."Tlf1", "rekvstam"."tlfLejer", "kreditor"."Kred", "Interessentadresse"."Interessentnr" FROM  (("Rekvstam" "rekvstam" INNER JOIN "Selskab" "Selskab" ON "rekvstam"."Sel"="Selskab"."Sel") LEFT OUTER JOIN "Kreditor" "kreditor" ON "rekvstam"."Kred"="kreditor"."Kred") INNER JOIN "Interessentadresse" "Interessentadresse" ON "kreditor"."Interessentnr"="Interessentadresse"."Interessentnr" WHERE  "Interessentadresse"."Type"='K'
    But if we run the report from our asp.net code, we get the following error:
    Cannot determine the queries necessary to get data for this report. Failed to retrieve data from the database. Error in File Drift_Bo_Syd {97FED382-1BAC-4DB1-970F-9E098ECE28F1}.rpt: Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    After a long time searching for a solution, we found out that if we place the column kred from the kreditor table on the report, the report will work. (field explorer / database fields / kreditor (table) / kred (column)
    Very important is that the field "kreditor.kred" is a primary key of the table kreditor, and also used in the linking.!
    (We can get the report to work if we call the sql statement with the "kreditor"."kred" in the SELECT statement.
    SELECT "kreditor"."kred", "rekvstam"."Sel", "rekvstam"."Afd", "rekvstam"."Levadresse", "rekvstam"."Rekvisition", "rekvstam"."Lejemaal", "rekvstam"."Lejer", "rekvstam"."Udfoertaf", "rekvstam"."Udfoertdato", "rekvstam"."Krit", "Selskab"."Adresse", "Selskab"."Postby", "Selskab"."Tlf", "Selskab"."Fax", "rekvstam"."Kontor", "rekvstam"."Hjemme", "rekvstam"."Rekvdato", "rekvstam"."Aftale", "rekvstam"."InitialRet", "rekvstam"."Arbejde", "kreditor"."Att", "rekvstam"."Konto", "Selskab"."Navn", "Selskab"."Email", "Interessentadresse"."Navn", "Interessentadresse"."Adresse", "Interessentadresse"."Postby", "Interessentadresse"."Email1", "Interessentadresse"."Telefon_Fax", "Interessentadresse"."Type", "Interessentadresse"."Tlf1", "rekvstam"."tlfLejer", "kreditor"."Kred", "Interessentadresse"."Interessentnr" FROM  (("Rekvstam" "rekvstam" INNER JOIN "Selskab" "Selskab" ON "rekvstam"."Sel"="Selskab"."Sel") LEFT OUTER JOIN "Kreditor" "kreditor" ON "rekvstam"."Kred"="kreditor"."Kred") INNER JOIN "Interessentadresse" "Interessentadresse" ON "kreditor"."Interessentnr"="Interessentadresse"."Interessentnr" WHERE  "Interessentadresse"."Type"='K'
    But it should not be necessary to include this field (which is the primary key and used in linking the report) in the sql statement,
    BECAUSE it is not used in the report. So maybe this is a bug?
    It has not been necessary in RDC Crystal Report or RAS Crystal Report in a classic asp envoriment.
    Here is the code we use to set the reports SQL Statement)
    Try
    Dim conn As New SqlConnection(connString)
    conn.Open()
    Dim sd As New SqlDataAdapter(New SqlCommand(nySQL, conn))
    Dim ds As New Data.DataSet()
    Dim navn As String = report.Database.Tables.Item(0).Name
    sd.Fill(ds, navn)
    report.SetDataSource(ds)
    conn.Close()
    Catch ex As Exception
    Throw
    End Try

    Hi Jan
    I understand your problem completely but we have asked  R&D to be able to edit the SQL and they explained due to how the report Engine works it's simply not possible anymore. It would take a complete rewrite in all of our DB drivers and query dll's to be able to allow it. They did that in CR 9 when they rewrote the DB drivers and removed the SQL part of the code into separate dll's and that is when the ability was removed, it's been that way ever since.
    One possibility is to get the SQL from the Report and then connect to your DB using a .NET and if the results from the SQL is less than 5K rows and not too many columns you could then set the Report data source to a Dataset.
    As long as all of the field names are the same CR will run the report using this work flow.
    For data larger than 5K rows, limit is due to memory resources, you could save the DS to an XML file and then set the reports data source to the XML file. We've seen 100meg XML's used so the amount of data should not be a problem, but of course there are limits to everything so test...
    This should not affect performance much.
    So the work flow would be:
    Load the report
    Get the SQL Statement
    Paste it into a Dataset Query
    Something like this should get you started:
    //string connString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=MySQLServer;Database=xtreme;User ID=sa;Password=pw";
    string connString = "Provider=SQLNCLI10;Server=MySQLServer;Database=xtreme;User ID=sa;Password=pw";
    Detail"".""Quantity"" FROM   ""xtreme"".""dbo"".""Orders Detail"" ""Orders Detail""";
    string sqlString = @"SELECT top 10*  FROM  ""xtreme"".""dbo"".""Financials"" ""Financials""";
    System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection oleConn = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(connString);
    System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand cmd = oleConn.CreateCommand();
    cmd.CommandText = sqlString;
    System.Data.DataSet ds = new System.Data.DataSet();
    OleDbDataAdapter oleAdapter = new OleDbDataAdapter(sqlString, oleConn);
    //OleDbDataAdapter oleAdapter2 = new OleDbDataAdapter(sqlString2, oleConn);
    DataTable dt1 = new DataTable("Financials");
    //DataTable dt2 = new DataTable("Orders Detail");
    oleAdapter.Fill(dt1);
    //oleAdapter2.Fill(dt2);
    ds.Tables.Add(dt1);
    //ds.Tables.Add(dt2);
    ds.WriteXml("c:\\reports\\sc2.xml", XmlWriteMode.WriteSchema);
    // as long as the field names match exactly Cr has no problems setting report to a DS.
    try
        rpt.SetDataSource(ds.Tables[0]); // incremtent [0] for more than 1 table.
        rpt.SetDataSource(ds);
    catch (Exception ex)
        MessageBox.Show("ERROR: Schema Mismatch. Error reported by CR: " + ex.Message);
    //Now check for subreport and set to same DS
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Section section in rpt.ReportDefinition.Sections)
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportObject reportObject in section.ReportObjects)
            if (reportObject.Kind == ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject)
                CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.SubreportObject subReport = (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.SubreportObject)reportObject;
                CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument subDocument = subReport.OpenSubreport(subReport.SubreportName);
                subDocument.SetDataSource(ds);
    And for XML it would use this part, not above I am saving the data and structure in the XML file so it should match what is in the report:
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table rptTable in rpt.Database.Tables)
        try
            rptTable.Location = btrDataFile.ToString(); // @"D:\Atest\" + rptTable.Location + ".xml";
        catch (Exception ex)
            MessageBox.Show("ERROR: " + ex.Message);
    Only issue you may run into is sometimes XML does not have a direct field type and your original data source but you'll get an error if that happens which could be trapped and handled.
    If you have a report that only uses 2 tables I do have code that will convert it to use a Command Object. That is the limit the engine is capable of, there is a lot of logic to be able to do this in CRD and the SDK so that is all we could get for now.
    I hope that helps
    Don

  • How do i see the sql statements that are run ?

    i want to see (in a log file) what are the sql statements that oracle had ran.
    how do i do it ? what configurations should i do ? how ?
    please help ... thanks

    Current SQL statements are viewed in dynamic tables:
    SELECT SCHEMANAME, SQL_ADDRESS, SQL_TEXT, last_call_et
    FROM V$SESSION, V$SQLAREA
    WHERE V$SESSION.SQL_ADDRESS=V$SQLAREA.ADDRESS
    A historical log of all SQL statements is recorded in Oracle Archived Logs, and can be viewed using the Oracle Logminer approach. This process requires your database to be in ARCHIVELOG mode, and that Logminer be configured to read the archived logs.

  • Date KF is not avaialbe in the SQL statement

    Hi,
              We  have the date as a KF in the query, but it is not populating any date.So we like to check the SQL code in the RSRT for analysis,
                    We found that in the select area of the SQL code date field is not avaialbe , how to confirm this that field is not seelcted inthe sql statment.

    Hi,
    For queries such as Update, Create table or Drop table, you should only have "Open Statement" step to do the operations.
    If you use "Select" statement in the "Open Statement" step, then you would need a "Data Operation" step to operate on the recordset returned by the "Select" statement.
    If your use case is to only update a value of an existing row/entry using an "Update" query, then the "Open Statement" step would just work as it is without a "Data Operation" step.
    You can refer to TestStand Help for more details
    TestStand 2014: <Examples>\Built-In Step Types\Database Step Types\Database Step Types.seq
    TestStand 2013 or earlier: <Examples>\Database\WritingAndReadingTableData.seq
    Hope this helps.

  • How to monitor the sql statement running?

    Hi ,
    i need to check the status of the sql script running on the database.
    what is the way to chect that?
    if the particular query is taking very long time what might be the reason?

    Since you are [relatively] new at this ..
    the recommended technique will change based on version of Oracle database, the edition of the database, the options of the database and the operating system.
    For example, I would normally suggest a newbie with Oracle Database 10g or 11g Enterprise Edition to use the Enterprise Manager Diagnostics Pack. A demo thereof is on the Oracle BY Example site (http://otn.oracle.com) - look for Tutorials towards the top.
    As for why ... it's waiting on things. Which things may depend on the database, the operating system, the disk subsystem, the network subsystem, memory allocation, sorting, other load, and even how well or badly the SQL statement was written.

  • Limits to the SQL Statement when creating External Dictionaries

    Limits to the SQL Statement when creating External Dictionaries
    Does RC not provide the ability to concatenate multiple db columns into a single dictionary field?  When trying a query like:  SELECT Col1 + Col2 AS NewCol1 FROM Tbl1 we get an error("Unknown internal error") after clicking to save/create the new  dictionary.  This is on version 2008.3

    What if you created a buffer table in your external database, that is populated by your field-merging query, and then invoke that from Newscale? The temporary table would be updatable by newscale (although, presumably, you wouldn't actually have newscale update it), so then it'd accept that connection.
    For example, I think you could do something like that by creating a View in MS SQL Server. Likewise, in other database brands you could create a Trigger that would update the buffer table each time data in the real tables are changed.

  • Executing the SQL statement is not allowed - Error

    I am getting "Executing the SQL statement is not allowed" for an INSERT cfquery that I'm running.  I checked the usual suspects:
    - DSN allows INSERT
    - I've seen reports online where certain field names or values are considered key words, so for protection CF blocks the query in this way (it would be nice if there was a different error message when it gets blocked this way vs. the DSN doesn't allow INSERT error message).  The field names and values were all benign strings, so it didn't seem like that.
    I took the same string for the query and ran it on another page and it ran fine (same DSN, too).

    SOLVED: I decided to enter this in here, just to get it into web searches for others since I couldn't find anything.
    - I was calling a function for one of the values in the query:  get_db_status_code("initialize")  Apparently CF parses the query to see if it's allowed BEFORE it runs the CFML in it, so something in that function name, or the parameter "initialize" was a key word that CF doesn't allow.  I moved the function call outside of the query and loaded a temp variable for use in the query and it then worked.

  • The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]:

    Hello all together,
    actually I try to implement an user interface for using BRTools from a J2EE Application.
    I created a datasource-alias "BRTOOLS" using netweaver administrator.
    inside the implementation i execute the following code:
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/BRTOOLS");
    Connection con = ds.getConnection();
    String query = "select * from SDBAH;";
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    try {
       ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
    As the result I get the following message:
    The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:15 - the table or view >>SDBAH<< does not exist.
    Using SQLplus or dbconsole I can see and use the table SDBAH. The table scheme is "SAPSR3DB"which is the standard scheme for J2EE.
    If I try:
    select * from SAPSR3DB.SDBAH;
    I get the same result.
    What is wrong in my constellation?
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Greetings Stephan

    Dear Yordan,
    yes I did a restart of the whole system.
    If I do a wrong lookup:
    e.g:
    DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/BRToolsFailure");
    where Alias  "BRToolsFailure" does not exist, I get
    Object not found in lookup of BRToolsFailure.
    So I think that the Alias of the default data source is right and visible.
    Next try:
    I use an already existing alias "ADS" in my code and get the same message:
    The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:15 - the table or view >>SDBAH<< does not exist.
    If I extend the tablename with the scheme-name "SAPSR3DB" I get the following:
    The SQL statement "SELECT * FROM "SAPSR3DB"."SDBAH"" contains the semantics error[s]: - 1:24 - the table or view >>SDBAH<< does not exist
    When I use SQLPLUS SAPSR3DB/password and call:
    select * from SDBAH;
    I get a result like expected.
    Thanks a lot,
    Stephan
