Hi,
How do I check on my Linux system whether my Java environment is 32 bits or 64 bits?

It requires 3 steps:
1. Find out which java do you use:
$ which java
/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java
2. Find out if this java is 32 or 64 bit:
$ file /usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java
/usr/jdk/instances/jdk1.6.0_13/bin/java: ELF 32-bit LSB executable 80386 Version 1 [FPU], dynamically linked, not stripped, no debugging information available
3. Find out if you can run it with -d64 option:
java -d64 $myapp
If it cannot, you don't have a 64-bit java (assuming 'java $myapp' runs just fine).

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
Step 1

The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Normally the command will produce no output, and the window will be empty. If the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window) has anything in it, stop here and post it — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the TextEdit window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
Step 2
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Reset the System Management Controller.
Run Software Update. If there's a firmware update, install it.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a portable computer, check the cycle count of the battery. It may be due for replacement.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane. See whether there's any change.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
Step 3
When you notice the problem, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the View menu or the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for User, System, and Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the Memory tab. What value is shown in the bottom part of the window for Swap used?
Next, select the Disk tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in andWrites out.)
Step 4
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

As client do not have proper installation documents and all details on their side,I was trying to check whether installed ODI is 32 bit or 64 Bit on machine.
How would i be able to do the same ?
We have "Standalone Edition Version 11.1.1 Build ODI_11.1.1.3.0_GENERIC_100623.1635" installed on our Windows Server 2003 Machine.

as far as I know, there was only a 32 bit version of ODI 11.1.1.3.

Hi tranvietanh - I appreciate you contacting us all the way from New Zealand! I can confirm that the iPhone 5s and all of our other 4G LTE device are not SIM locked. As the carrier in New Zealand may not support the exact same frequencies and cellular bands that we use on our network, we are unable to support the device if using a 3rd party SIM.

Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

CVS files checked out have execute bit cleared?

I just checked out my build tree, which includes some scripts.
Those scripts have their execute bit cleared.
If I remove those files and do a cvs update in that dir manually, the scripts are checked out with execute bit set.
Anyone else run into this?
How can this be fixed?

checkout via cvs on command line works fine.
Our cvs doesn't recognize the PreservePermissions keyword when put in the config file.
Which version of cvs are you using? 1.11.x or 1.12.x?

How to check whether an attribute is existing in an OU using JNDI

I want to check whether an attribute is exixting some where in a User URl. Right now I am doing like this. I am setthing the Returning attributes with this attribute and will do a search whic will return a naming enumeration. If the namingEnumeration is not null, then the attribute is valid. But this search will take some time to finish. So Is there any way to identify an attreibute is existing or not, without performanc hindrance

Environment Value is coming in one of the field in Idoc
The logic is if the Environment Value is UK and a Record Exists on the ZTable for Legacy Sysyetm = Leg1 means i have send Legacy Material No , else Send 01
Please suggest me the process for this

The ZTable is at R/3 side only, iam using RFC Lookup for this, but iam bit confuse on how to construct the logic to check whether there is a record Exists or not on Ztable
Logic shld be If the Environment value is UK and a record exists on the Ztable for Legacy system "ABC" means then send Legacy material number else send 01
In Table we will have the fields Legacy System Legacy Material No & Environment value is coming from Idoc itself( Ex: UK or US)

How to check whether music has finished playing and go to another frame

I have a bunch of music samples which are set up to play on
the click of a button, and at the same time go to another frame in
the movie clip so it says 'playing', with a stop button that takes
you back to frame 1. If you don't click stop, though, when the song
ends, it stays on this second frame, even though there is nothing
playing anymore, which is a bit confusing for the viewer.
So I need to tell flash to check whether the song is finished
playing, and then if it is, go back to frame 1. I have no idea how
to do this; have basically done it all using tutorial and samples
and my limited actionscript knowledge, but I can't find this
particular code, and don't really have any idea how to write it
from scratch.

I am not sure how Tomcat handles this, but you need to use two-way (mutual authentication) request but not enforce SSL between Tomcat and the client browser. This will make the browser prompt the user for the cert they want to send. Then you'll need to tackle the other part of your problem, getting the correct content displayed depending on whether the user sent a cert or not. I'm even less help there than I was on the first part of your question.

Check whether Safari is downloading?

I am looking for an elegant and failsafe way to check whether Safari is currently downloading something, and, if possible, how many downloads are currently active?

But this seems a bit unsafe, because if downloads get interrupted (for whatever reason), then there are a "dead" .download files, which the suggested script does not detect.
I was thinking of accumulating all the sizes of all the .download files in /tmp (which is where my Safari puts downloads), and checking whether this is growing.
Except I have no idea yet, how to accumulate the files sizes ;-/ ...
Any hints, suggestions, thoughts, or help will be greatly appreciated.

You could combine the idea from the referenced topic with a check to see if the Downloads (or wherever) folder is changing size. The following script uses a handler that will wait up to a specified time for files to download (the folder isn't changing in size), and returns true or false based on the result. In the event that there are leftover .download files, the script marks them by adding "-failed" to the extension. The interval time between checks for size may need to be adjusted to allow for slow downloads.

whether import is running or not.I am using oracle 8.1.7 in solaris 8 .I used ps -ef | grep imp
in os level its showing its running
i am importing the indexes only no data,When i am checking the freespace in index tablespace its not reducing.i checked the transaction it showing 1 transaction running.
How i confirm wheter import is running fine.The log also not updating ( i am using split and compress) after completing the job only i think it will update
