Checking Javadoc and Method Signature ?

Hi All,
Once i used Intellij IDEA. Now i am using eclipse for the past 1 year. In IntelliJ if the javadoc and method signature parameters were different it will automatically show a red color mark. so that we will correct it by seeing that.
In eclipse i don't know that option...can anybody please let me know whether that option is avaiable in eclipse.
How to check javadoc and method signature in other normal circumstances programmatically ?
Thanks,
J.Kathir

That information is only available in the source code. I'm using Eclipse and it has the ability to link a jar to it's source (either another jar/zip or another project, or a directory on your disk). I imagine IntelliJ has a similar feature.
Another option is to put the source code inside the jar that also contains the class files.

  • Review javadocs and method design

    the two file on the site are the files I want you to look at. The first is a pdf discribing the assignment. The other is a exicuteable jar containing my source code.

    I am new to using javadoc and find myself at a loss as to what to write. The comments always seem pointless because params and methods are rather self explanatory. I feel as though I end up repeating myself when describing many methods. particularity one's with return statements where I have to comment the return value and what the method dose. I would like advice on how to do javadoc commenting as apposed to normal commenting
    The part I'm most concerned about is the add method in ShoppingCart. I know it works but I don't think it is the best way of doing it. Every time a textfield in the GUI has action with a valid number it sends a new ItemOrder object to ShoppingCart to add to an array list used for computing the cost. So when changing a textfield from one number to another the last occurrence of that same order must be removed or altered to reflect the new change.
    After those two issues would you please give a over all look at the logic and design I used.
    Thank you.

    JavaDoc on simple getter/setter methods are hard to write, as they are ofent rather useless.
    What I usually do is to add not just which value a particular setter sets, but rather what that value means and how it is used in the class. Alternatively, you could put that information into the Class' JavaDoc (especially if you want to describe the interaction of several properties).
    Usually you'd like to keep all the information necessary for answering a question in the posting, having to download external stuff often makes people less inclined to help you. I've not looked into your program in too much detail, but it seems to be ok. One missing JavaDoc that I noticed is ItemOrder ("doing stuff...?" is not considered enough, usually ;-)).
    ShoppingCart.add() seems to be ok. Personally I'd have implemented it using a ListIterator, but that's not too important.
    Regarding the logic and design: They've been pretty much given in the assignment, so there wasn't much creative freedom for you.

  • No Method Signature - initQuery error after VO Substitution

    Hi All,
    I have done a VO Substitution for "NewBankAccountVOImpl". Below is the exact Requirement,
    iReceivables -> Query for a given Customer -> Go to accounts Tab -> Try to Pay off an invoice -> You get an option choose Payment Method as "New Bank Account" ->
    Now there are three field Routing Number, Account Number and Account Holder
    I need to restrict Account Number to minimum three characters. In 11.5.10 Oracle do not have this validation.
    So I checked out the place where the Routing Number and Account Number Validation happen i.e "NewBankAccountVOImpl" and extended the same to custom VOImpl and copied all the standard code to my custom code as below,

    The error do not come when I take out my substitution. Any one know what might be the reason for above issue. I have no idea why all of a sudden it stopped working and checked all standard filles but none got changed.
    Any pointers towards to resolve the same would be appreciable.

  • Problems deploying application with updated method signatures on WLS8.1

    Hi,
    I have an jar file under applications which I have deployed fine on WLS 8.1 in the past. I changed the method signature on one of the EJB classes in the jar. One of the parameters now takes a different Java class type. I have recompiled everyone and repackaged the jar but when I try to deploy the jar it gives me an error because the the local interface of the EJB does not have the old Java class parameter type.
    I have checked the jar, classes in the jar, and the ejb-jar.xml and weblogic-ejb-jar.xml in the jar and it is looks fine. I have cleaned out my server deployment directories and verified the classpath in case the older jar was in there and everything looks OK. It seems for some reason 8.1 is caching the old ejb-jar.xml or somehow is remembering the old method signature and will not process the updated jar. Has anyone seen anything like this?
    Thanks for any help or recommendations

    Can you show me the error you receive?
    Another simple test would be to deploy your application to a new, empty
    server.
    You can create a new domain as easy as this:
    mkdir testDomain;
    cd testDomain;
    java weblogic.Server
    Type in the username/password that you want and answer 'Yes' when it
    asks if you want to create a new domain.
    Try deploying your jar to this new domain, and let me know if it still
    fails.

  • Changing exception clause in method signature when overwriting a method

    Hi,
    I stumbled upon a situation by accident and am not really clear on the details surrounding it. A short description:
    Say there is some API with interfaces Foo and Bar as follows:
    public interface Foo {
       void test() throws Exception;
    public interface Bar extends Foo {
       void test();
    }Now, I find it strange that method test() for interface Bar does not need to define Exception in its throws clause. When I first started with Java I was using Java 1.4.2; I now use Java 1.6. I cannot remember ever reading about this before and I have been unable to find an explanation or tutorial on how (or why) this works.
    Consider a more practical example:
    Say there is an API that uses RMI and defines interfaces as follwows:
    public interface RemoteHelper extends Remote {
       public Object select(int uid) throws RemoteException;
    public interface LocalHelper extends RemoteHelper {
       public Object select(int uid);
    }As per the RMI spec every method defined in a Remote interface must define RemoteException in its throws clause. The LocalHelper cannot be exported remotely (this will fail at runtime due to select() in LocalHelper not having RemoteException in its clause if I remember correctly).
    However, an implementing class for LocalHelper could represent a wrapper class for RemoteHelper, like this:
    public class Helper implements LocalHelper {
       private final RemoteHelper helper;
       public Helper(RemoteHelper helper) {
          this.helper = helper;
       public Object select(int id) {
          try {
             return (this.helper.select(id));
          } catch(RemoteException e) {
             // invoke app failure mechanism
    }This can uncouple an app from RMI dependancy. In more practical words: consider a webapp that contains two Servlets: a "startup" servlet and an "invocation" servlet. The startup servlet does nothing (always returns Method Not Allowed, default behaviour of HttpServlet), except locate an RMI Registry upon startup and look up some object bound to it. It can then make this object accessible to other classes through whatever means (i.e. a singleton Engine class).
    The invocation servlet does nothing upon startup, but simply calls some method on the previously acquired remote object. However, the invocation servlet does not need to know that the object is remote. Therefore, if the startup servlet wraps the remote object in another object (using the idea described before) then the invocation servlet is effectively removed from the RMI dependancy. The wrapper class can invoke some sort of failure mechanism upon the singleton engine (i.e. removing the remote object from memory) and optionally throw some other (optionally checked) exception (i.e. IllegalStateException) to the invocation servlet.
    In this way, the invocation servlet is not bound to RMI, there can be a single point where RemoteExceptions are handled and an unchecked exception (i.e. IllegalStateException) can be handled by the Servlet API through an exception error page, displaying a "Service Unavailable" message.
    Sorry for all this extensive text; I just typed out some thoughts. In short, my question is how and why can the throws clause change when overwriting a method? It's nothing I need though, except for the clarity (e.g. is this a bad practice to do?) and was more of an observation than a question.
    PS: Unless I'm mistaken, this is basically called the "Adapter" or "Bridge" (not sure which one it is) pattern (or a close adaptation to it) right (where one class is written to provide access to another class where the method signature is different)?
    Thanks for reading,
    Yuthura

    Yuthura wrote:
    I know it may throw any checked exception, but I'm pretty certain that an interface that extends java.rmi.Remote must include at least java.rmi.RemoteException in its throws clause (unless the spec has changed in Java 1.5/1.6).No.
    A method can always throw fewer exceptions than the one it's overriding. RMI has nothing to do with it.
    See Deitel & Deilte Advanced Java 2 Platform How To Program, 1st Ed. (ISBN 0-13-089650-1), page 793 (sorry, I couldn't find the RMI spec quick enough). Quote: "Each method in a Remote interface must have a throws clause that indicates that the method can throw RemoteException".Which means that there's always a possibility of RemoteException being thrown. That's a different issue. It's not becusae the parent class can throw RE. Rather, it's because some step that will always be followed is declared to throw RE.
    I later also noticed I could not add other checked exceptions, which made sense indeed. Your explanation made perfect sense now that I heard (read) it. But just to humour my curousity, has this always been possible? Yes, Java has always worked that way.
    PS: The overwriting/-riding was a grammatical typo (English is not my native language), but I meant to say what you said.No problem. Minor detail. It's a common mistake, but I always try to encourage proper terminology.

    See how the above method is self explaining. Yes, returning an array is more self explanatory. Are you defensively copying the array?
    For classes that are to be re-used often by other developers would it be better to use arrays because they are more obvious? It depends. Yes its more obvious but if folks are going to stick the array contents into a Collection then returning a Collection is nice, too.
    How do other people deal with this or do you just not worry about it and leave it up to the comments to explain?Thats what javadoc is for. i.e. @return a List of EmailTo objects
    In jdk1.5 templates will help with this a bit.
    One of the most painful bugs you will encounter is when you don't make defensive copies of objects and another class mutates an internal data structure. Of course, defensive copies waste object references and in some cases, can really cause a slow down. You can always provide access via ye old getNumberOfFollowUpEmails/getFollowUpEmail(int i)

  • Mass Check void and other AP items

    Gurus,
    1) The requirement is to have the ability to mark list of check as voided and then off set the payment document to an escheatment GL account instead of clearing account. They currently have a very huge number of checks they would escheat.  I can't find any transactions that can meet mass void and post a clearing document on payment document to a different GL number.
    Is there a way we can do without having a ABAP development?
    2) When I creating an invoice in FB60, the payment term is defaulting from vendor master. But, the payment method  is not defaulting from vendor master. The payment method field is left blank though my vendor master has payment method.
    3) If I have multiple payment methods in vendor master and I have all payment methods in my proposal, which payment method the payment program considers in F110?  the first payment method that is in vendor master?

    HI Sri
    So, it will consider the order of payment proposal and not the order in vendor master?
    Yes you are correct
    So I have a vendor with cw and my proposal order is entered as wc, will it consider w or c? first one in proposal or first one in vendor?
    First one is in the proposal if that one is not available in vendor master ( nothing but payment document),  then it will go to next payment payment.
    if vendor has c and my invoice document is w and the proposal is w, will my proposal fails?
    Payment programme will check the payment method at payment document level. So defiantly your proposal will execute.
    Thanks

  • Adding data members and methods to generated classes that will not produce

    I want to use XMLBeans XMLObject for a project, but for the classes generated by XMLBeans, I want to add some additional data members and methods to handle program state that I do not want to have written out to an XML document.
    I have been using .NET's system.xml.XmlParser class, and it provides this sort of capability.
    In looking at the code produced by XMLObject, it looks possible.
    Question: Does anyone have any thoughts on the best way to accomplish what I want to do? Is there a good design pattern to follow?
    Question: Are there any gotchas in doing this? The only immediate one I can think of is that everytime the .java files are regenerated by XMLObject, I will have to reinsert my data members and methods.

    Hi Chuck,
    Setting the dispaly Field property should in no way affect your validation execution.
    The valiadtion if is working fine on the field value when it is not a display field it should do so when a display field as well.
    Besides if you are working on MDM main table all the main table fields are display fields.even if you do not set the property.As main table fields are always visible in MDM Data manager.
    Which version of MDM you are currently working on.
    As I have tried on the SP06 version on MDM and the  Null  validation runs fine on Display fields as well.
    Check your MDM version and also your MDM clients as well as MDM server be on the same version.
    What I am finding confusing here is that initially you wish to keep the material number as Blank for the approver to enter the material number which will be send through a mail.
    But the validation is checking for the material field to be balnk then how are you poulating the same field with Material number in the later stage.As it will fail the validation here.As per teh vlaidation it should remain blank as soon as someone enters a value it will throw an error.
    Or in either which wise you need to mainatin 2 valiadtion steps before and after the Approver for blank and filled field check.
    Just check your process flow correctly and the order of it in case that is causing the records to fail.
    Hope It Helped
    Thanks & Regards

    I have a Zmethod to Bus2091(delagated to Zbus2091)
    with an import parameter and an export parameter
    and now when creating the task and assigning the method the container elements of method are transferred to Task
    and next i wen to binding eeditor and generated automatic binding:

  • Inherited fields and methods shown with the class own fields and methods

    In each subclass page, javadoc includes the fields and methods of the superclass as if they were declared in the subclass. However the methods inherited from Object are shown in a separate box.
    Is there a way to make javadoc group all inherited fields and mehods in separate boxes, one for each superclass?
    I'm using the javadoc tool from J2SE v 1.4.2_07 SDK with NetBeans 4.0 Bundle.
    Thanks.

    Yes, I know it does, but it seems that the superclass
    must be declared public.Sort of. Per default javadoc documents public and protected types and members. With this setting, where would you expect the documentation of public members of a package-private super class to be?
    If you specify -package or -private as an option for javadoc, package-private and/or private types and members are documented, too, so package-private super classes are documented as usual.

  • Could you please send me the material Opps concepts Classes and Methods

    Hi Experts,
    I am working on Opps concepts.I am new to this concept.
    Could you please send me the detailed presentation on Abap oops.
    Thanks inadvance,
    Regards,
    Rekha.

    Hi this will help u.
    OOPs ABAP uses Classes and Interfaces which uses Methods and events.
    If you have Java skills it is advantage for you.
    There are Local classes as well as Global Classes.
    Local classes we can work in SE38 straight away.
    But mostly it is better to use the Global classes.
    Global Classes or Interfaces are to be created in SE24.
    SAP already given some predefined classes and Interfaces.
    This OOPS concepts very useful for writing BADI's also.
    So first create a class in SE 24.
    Define attributes, Methods for that class.
    Define parameters for that Method.
    You can define event handlers also to handle the messages.
    After creation in each method write the code.
    Methods are similar to ABAP PERFORM -FORM statements.
    After the creation of CLass and methods come to SE38 and create the program.
    In the program create a object type ref to that class and with the help of that Object call the methods of that Class and display the data.
    Example:
    REPORT sapmz_hf_alv_grid .
    Type pool for icons - used in the toolbar
    TYPE-POOLS: icon.
    TABLES: zsflight.

  • Email attachments and digital signature

    I used to be able to open a email attachment, review it and then digitally sign it.
    Since the new IT people came it, the digital signature simply disappears. Any way to restore this function? Thanks.

    We experienced a similar problem when Adobe updates were installed. It seems that a recent Adobe update took away the capability to save your digital signature directly to the PDF email attachment, then forward the email with the signed attachment. Now, when we open a PDF email attachment and place a digital signature, as soon as we have entered our password for our digital signature, we are prompted with the "Save As" dialog box asking us to save the document somewhere on the hard drive of our computer (the default location is My Documents). If you hit Cancel, then the signed version does not get saved. The attachment remains unsigned. So we learned we needed to go through the Save As dialog and choose (and remember) a location to save the PDF, such as My Documents or Desktop, then reply or compose a new email and attach the signed version that we had just saved in Documents/Desktop. We used to be able to hit the Save icon in Adobe and save our changes (digital signature) to the email attachment. Having to save the PDF somewhere other than the email itself is an extra step we'd prefer to avoid, and we'd be happy to learn of a way to go back to our old method. I believe the key was that Adobe would save the signed version somewhere in the "temp files" on the C drive and automatically use that version when the email is forwarded. And I think Adobe did away with that, unless there is a way to revert to that method using Preferences?
    But I wonder if the Asker of this question is able to click "Place Signature" and has an opportunity to "Save As," saving the PDF on the hard drive of the computer for future attaching? Are you hitting "Cancel" in the Save As dialog?
    If you save the signed PDF (i.e. in the default My Documents), then a slightly quicker method than having to browse to the saved document in Documents is, you can click on the envelope icon (Sharing) at the top of the screen. Then click the "Attach to Email" circle and click the "Attach" button. This will generate a new email in your email application (i.e. Outlook) with the signed PDF attached (Adobe pulls the signed version that you previously saved to your Documents). The downside to this is that the generated email will not have the original email thread or subject line, so you will need to add a relevant subject line.
    Some of our users reported that they used the Share ... Attach to Email feature and their signatures would get wiped from the email attachment after they hit send. However, this phenomenon has not been witnessed since the most recent Adobe software update.
