CHEP PALLET INVENTORY

Hello experts.. need some help to get chep pallet inventoried.
The scenario:
The company is a retail organization which have stores spread across Mexico.
It uses pallets from a particular vendor (CHEP) for their internal logistics. Tehy calls up CHEP on a regular basis to supply them with the pallets. CHEP dumps them in the distribution centers (the pallets are supplied on rent basis).
Stock of these pallets needs to be maintained in the DC. For some DC to store shipments these pallets are used as handling units.
How do we map this particular process in the system?
The steps would be:
u2022 Update inventory of pallets in the DC when supplied by CHEP (could be just a 501M)
u2022 Use these pallets for shipments from DC to store (outbound delivery with HU details, PGI) - this should update the inventory of the pallet as well in the DC
u2022 Goods receipt of the outbound delivery at the stores - this should update the inventory of the pallet in the stores (it should not be by posting another 501 M)
Any help would be very appreciable.
Regards.

Hi,
Whenver u are sending stocks to store u can create another delivery for pallets and send them to stores and stores will do the GRN . this will reduce the pallet stock in DC and increase the stock in stores.
Maintain the pallet as non UNBW type article i.e non valuated.
process will be like :
DC will do the PGI of  pallets with movment type 603 to stores . Stores will do the GR with mov type 605.And stores will return the pallet to DC with mov type 603 and DC can receive the pallets with 605
So inventory of pallets can be monitored in this way.
Regards,
AM.

  • AR Credit Memo Journal Entry

    Hello,
We created an AR Invoice by mistake.  To correct this, we copied the AR Invoice to an AR Credit Memo and added it.  However, the journal entry created by the AR Credit Memo was not the exact opposite of the AR Invoice.  The AR Credit Memo journal entry had a different amount in the sales revenue account.  Because of this, when you run the account balance for the sales revenue account, you see the amount for the invoice and then for the credit memo but they do not cancel one another.  Instead, it leaves a balance on the account event though we do not want it.
Why would the credit memo not reverse the invoice exactly per the g/l?  Could this somehow be related to account determinations?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Amanda

    Hi Gordon,
I don't think the difference is caused by exchange rate differences.  The credit memo was created about five minutes after the invoice.  They have the exact same dates.
Below are the journal entries for both documents to help clairfy:
    AR Invoice
    BP Acct                            DR $13,428.00
    Sales Revenue                                         CR $13188.00
Net Pallet Deposit Liability                        CR $240.00
    COGS                               DR 9609.60
    Inventory Finished Goods                          CR $9609.60
    Pallet Inventory                   DR $195.00
    Pallet Inventory                                        CR $195.00
    AR Credit Memo
    BP Acct                                                  CR $13,428.00
    Sales Revenue                    DR $13,428.00
    Inventory - Returns              DR $9609.60
    Pallet Inventory                                         CR $195.00
Net Pallet Deposit Liability   DR $195.00
Like I said, we just copied the AR Invoice to the AR Credit Memo.  We did not change the line items or the prices, etc.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Amanda

  • Inventory with HU enabled - pallet in wrong place

I'm running an inventory in a HU managed storage location, and I've come up with the normal situation that a pallet is in the wrong place.
    When I try to post the count the system show me the L4 203 that basically says the pallet already exists in another storage bin;
    It kindly tells me that I should just post a new number for the SU, and then make sure the pallet in the other storage bin is subject to inventory;
I use a new number for the SU and I get the error L3 785. Not possible to determine new SU in inventory.
This seems like a very standard and simple process, has anyone faced this while trying to use the standard? A KBA for L3 785 only mentions real new pallets which is more uncommon, but the pallet exists in my system, just in the wrong place.

    Hello Joao,
Regarding WM-HU inventories, we have surrendered long time ago...
I know it is not exactly the same problem, but take a look of this SAP note:
    https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/1619321
I suppose your process is not suported either. Anyway, good luck!

  • What transactions can be used to receive a pallet of documents for retention purposes that is not an inventory item?

What transactions can be used to receive a pallet of documents for retention purposes that is not an inventory item?

    Petr,
Thank you for the question, I think it is easier to explain my current process which I hope you can translate into SAP EWM processes.
I currently have a SKU description of THIRD PARTY STORAGE, this SKU is always a quantity of 1 for stock check purposes. This SKU can be many things but not inventory (in the sense of not a component or finished good). The pallet can be documents for retention, samples for QC, trial parts etc. This pallet can be received onto the WMS without a Purchase Order number, the SKU is set up to be able to be received 999999 times before a re-set is necessary. The SKU has a putaway algorythm for the high bay warehouse and is sub-zoned into an aisle.
I hope this clarifies what I'm asking for in SAP.

  • GR of  mixed items on a pallet (initially material numbers are unknown)

    Hello SAPers
I have a situation here and need to brainstorm with the experts:
Client has a Legacy system and we are in position to install a new SAP instance.
It's a Central Bank and do not sell anything to the public (SD functionality is not exist at all).
However we distribute our bank notes to the Financial Institutions (daily banking).
After a while the bank notes become unusable (burned or ripped off) and return back to us for replacement with the new bank notes.
    here is my USE CASE:
The unusable Bank Notes return to the Central Bank on a pallet and the denominations are all mixed ($5, $10, $20, $50 and $100).
We don't know how many pieces of each of them initially and the dollar value as well.
All we know is the sender and a pallet of mixed bank notes.
After we QA and identify each denomination we do classifications X pieces reusable and Y pieces unusable.
Now we need to place the good ones in the inventory with the identififed material number and the dollar value as well.
MY question is what would be the best approach for Good Receipts and placing the good ones in the IM/WM after QA result??
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I would push to have the bills separated by denomination for the GR so you have separate receipts for each
I would receive the total amount in full for each denom and only then disposition the material. You could use different reason codes in SAP for scrapping the bad ones so you would have better tracability of the cause for desroyed material.
and more control of the inv. by limiting authorization to the scrapping transaction
Move the good ones to unrestricted and the bad ones to blocked to prepare for the scrapping transaciton.
just my thoughts on a method, hope it helps

  • HU without inventory management and message L3778 in storage type 999

    Hi experts,
Need suggestion on the process to add inventory of an HU with status 'HU without inventory Management'. This issue has occurred out of the below scenario:
    1. our warehouse is HU & WM managed.
    2. We have a transfer order for a delivery document requesting to pick up 100 cases of MAT1 which is assigned to HU1.
    3. While confirming the transfer order user has confirmed difference for the full quantity of 100 because the SU/HU was not found in the bin.
    4. The system has set the status of HU as 'HU without inventory Management'. The HU is empty.
    5. system has moved the stock from the bin to difference storage type 999.
Now user has found the stock for this HU and he wants to post the stock back into the bin. system does not allow to move the stock back to bin using LT01 as we get error message 'L3 778'.
What will be the best practice to get the stock back into the bin and post the stock into the same old HU.
Is there a process wherein we can post this stock to another bin and repack into the old HU?
    Thanks,
    Harish

Thanks Manish on the hint. I was able to transfer stock to partner location and then bring back to original Storage type/Bin. Below steps was used to fixed the issue:
    1. Initiate a transfer of stock from WM/HU Sloc where the IM stock resides into Sloc 9099. An outbound delivery is created during this process.
    2. Create a transfer order with reference to delivery and pick the stock from 999 storage type.
    3. Create a Pick HU using LH01 and assign the HU on the pallet to the transfer order.
    4. Confirm the transfer order using LT12.
    5. Perform PGI for the delivery.
    6. Use HUMO to display the HU and then you can transfer the stock back to WM/HU location using the storage location transfer option available on the HUMO screen(EDIT à change HU posting à Storage location)
    7. Perform Bin to bin transfer to move the SU from 921 storage type to putaway the HU/SU back to the destined Storage type/Bin.
    Best Regards,
    Harish

  • WM Putaway scanario with tracking of Empty Pallets(SU)

    Hello Gurus
Hoping you are doing well! I need your expert advise on following business requirement.
"WM Putaway scanario with tracking of Empty Pallets(SU)"
GR-101 is posted for Empty Pallets (packaging material - stock able item), Putaway into SU Managed storage type call (Pallets). System issues SU # for each pallet (Receiving of empty pallet is one time activity). When Raw materials are received from the external supplier, GR 101 is posted, For WM putaway for raw material into SU Managed storage type (Raw12) following is business requirement.
Step 1) Transfer of Empty pallet for palletizing. Via RF Scanner\Mobile , Transfer of empty pallet(SU) from SU managed type(Pallets)  to >  non-SU managed type (filling) . Result: (A) SU # is free from pallet packaging material. (B) In system pallet packaging material is transferred into non-SU managed type called (filling)
Step 2) Load incoming Raw material in above free SU\Pallet # , And putaway in type Raw12(Su managed).  Via RF Scanner, Create putaway TO (902 to Raw12) for raw material with reference to WM-TR, (A) Scan above empty pallet\SU # in destination storage unit. ( SU barcode already pasted on pallet) (B) destination bin determined by the WM putaway strategy , (C)  as UOM is KG, entering weight after weighting. Result: raw material putaway in type Raw12, in above empty pallet.
Question 1,  for step 2, Can we develop a custom RF scanner transaction?
Step 3) same raw material is issued to the production (PSA 100) Result: Same pallet\SU is empty completely. SU # is free from raw material
Step 4) Transfer back Empty Pallet to> type Pallets (SU Managed) from type filling (Non-SU managed)
Via RF scanner, create & confirm new TO for transfer same Pallet packaging material on same pallet \ SU #. to empty pallet type (pallets-SU managed) , just free from raw material after issuing to production. Result: Same pallet \ SU # is kept from step 1 to Step 4
Question 2,  for step 4, can we develop a custom RF scanner transaction?
Question 3 = Big Question Is this a efficient mapping of this requirement ?   OR   Do you have some other suggestion \solution for mapping such scenario?  Business wants to keep the track of Empty pallets (SU) in WM system.  & Business wants to use the same pallet\SU # in its lifecycle.  Is this a good Business requirement?
Thanks in advance for your advise.
    Thanks
    Semab

    Hello Semab,
I read through the query a couple times and I still have difficulty understanding. I will do my best :-)
You want to maintain your physical pallets as stock on hand in SAP inventory.
Based on my understanding Pallet = Packaging material and SU = Storage unit, so in your process you will have both the packaging material and the RAW inside a single SU.
In step one you mention transferring the pallet/SU into non SU managed storage location and expect the result to be SU without packaging material but I would expect the opposite result, you will have packaging material without a SU # - regardless you will still have physical bar code number so not an issue, so if I understand so far: for both question one and two I would say yes, through customization it is possible. We actually have done some customization to keep same source SU as destination SU during storage location to storage location transfer so I know your requirement can be done through customization. I believe through standard your SU # would normally be dissolved at a couple points in the process you laid out.
    For question # 3...
Is this a efficient mapping of this requirement ? It seems to be fairly efficient based on the requirement as I understand it but I would also research HU management as a possible solution.
Is this a good Business requirement? Absolutely not (in my humble opinion), what benefit could this bring to a business? In other words how will this save them time/money or build efficiency? They will be spending a lot of time and money to implement and to follow this process day to day when SAP already has great tracking capability through standard look up transactions and the standard process flow. This sounds like a case of trying to recreate a legacy systems functionality with SAP. Moving around and tracking a physical pallet in SAP just for the sake of using the same SU# in an end to end for process is adding steps that are not required and don't bring value. Its key to limit the number of steps in SAP to build operational efficiency that's the way to bring the full value in any SAP implementation (logistically speaking)...
    Kind regards

  • Inventory tracking at bag level...

    Dear Experts,
My client is having specific requirement regarding material handling
Production order will be created for a BATCH (lot of pallets produced in a day) with UoM KG, which will consist of individual pallet numbers. Pallet consists of 48 bags (each of 20 kg), duly packed on a wooden pallet. Now GR will be done for Pallet by splitting up the Qty of BATCH001 into pallets with specific batch no assigned to it, during GR.Hence inventory will be updated in the form of pallet only.
The relation of pallet to bag is being maintained into a Z custom table in SAP which is customized for printing barcode label, having Pallet & bag no.
Now sometimes, user requires removing a specific bag from specific lot for sending it to customer as sample. He want to track that bag into inventory.
Is it possible by some way to trace the bag ? Pls help..
    The structure is like this
    Batch001
    P1--48 BAGS
    P2-- 48 BAGS
    P3-- 48 BAGS
    P4-- 48 BAGS
Here P Stands for Pallet .Several pallets e.g.P1,P2,P3...(each consisting 48 bags ) makes a batch.
    Thanks in advance
    Edited by: dennis_r on Dec 24, 2011 6:16 PM

No, it is not possible in standard. You are using a Z table and custom logic to identify each bag. There's no process in the system that is aware of it.
So, if you need it, you'll have to further enhance your custom development, to provide for this requirement, or review the Z solution to try and replace it with existing functionality.

  • Indicator: Message to inventory management

    Hello!
During material creation in tab warehouse management 1, there is a field Mesage to IM :  Indicator: Message to inventory management.
can you please explain me the functionality of it?
    Thank you.

Certain transactions result in a data transfer from the R/3 System to the R/2 System. "Message to IM" is a communication indicator, they affect how and when the transmission of communication documents to the R/2 System take place. The following information applies to the transfer order created for the 40 pallets of material in the example:
If you use the communication indicator "1" for the Source item field (immediate confirmation and transfer of a communication document to R/2), no quant is built in the goods receipt (GR) area. Instead, one communication document is created for each pallet resulting in 40 communication documents.
If you use the communication indicator "2" for the Source item field, and you have identified the material as a non-critical material, the process is cumulative and negative quants are created in the GR area. In this case, data for all 40 pallets is contained in one communication document for the negative quant in the GR area.

  • HU managed inventory Vs Serialized Inventory

I am looking for feedback on comparison between HU managed inventory and Serialized inventory. To which business scenario one of these are better placed than the other. Also if someone can share the Pros & Cons of these two way of inventory management would be helpful

    Hi
HUM is used in conjuction to Wearhouse Management. Where as SrNo is used in IM at storage location level. HUM may be identified as Pallet, Container etc and quantity contained is already defined. Sr Number frofile is unique identification of each quantity which has same material number
If you want more detail then please inform.

  • Split Deliveries Based on Available Pallet Qty

    Hello
Here is the process we follow,
once the sales order is booked. We create Deliveries and a Trip. Using the Trip, we do the pick release by Trip#....here is my requirement.
    1. Prime Sub-Inventory - Qty is available in Eaches
    2. Reserve Sub-Inventory - Qty is available only in pallets (12) - Pallet Break is not allowed in this sub-inventory
If I have shipping Delivery Lines(WSH) for total of 38 Qty
    Delivery Line Detail 1 - 20 Qty
    Delivery Line Detail 2 -  10 Qty
    Delivery Line Detail 3 - 8 Qty
As per standard oracle solution, I want 36 qty  (3 Pallets) to be picked from Reserve and 2 Qty (1+1) to be picked from Prime. To achieve it, System has to automatically split one shipping delivery line into 2 lines (suppose line# 3, qty 8 into 6+2), so that 36 can be picked from reserve and 2 from Prime. Is it possible to do through standard functionality through setups?
    Thanks,
    Sree

    hi,

  • Item cost not found for one or more items - Inventory Posting

    Good Day Mentors,
My user has encountered an error during Inventory Posting and its "Item cost not found for one or more items".
The specific Message ID from SAP's System Message Log is 10001287.
I found a similar post which addresses this error here.
But unfortunately it did not help me solve my user's problem.
I already checked if the items had a defined "Item Cost" in the Item Master Data Inventory Tab, and they all have "Item Cost" defined.
I'm not sure if this will help, but below is the Inventory Audit Report of one of the items that is throwing the "Item cost not found" error.
I am not a business consultant neither am I literate in accounting, so thanks for the patience.
    SAP Version: 9.0 PL5
    Valuation Method: Moving Average
    Thanks in advance!
    Sean

    Hi Augusto and Raviraj,
I've already verified in our production database the points you made:
    - Is the "Manage Item cost per warehouse" selected in the Basic Initialization Screen?
    YES
    - Is the "Manage Inventory by Warehouse" ticked/checked in the "Inventory Data" tab of the "Item Master Data" screen?
    YES
    * I apologize for not have been able to give this information upfront.
Anyway, the database only has one warehouse at the moment.
I've checked the items, like the item in the screen shot above, and it does have an item cost.
Below is the screenshot of the sample item from my original post,
    Thanks in advance!

  • BW:Inventory stock Report issue based on Vendor and PO number

    Dear Guru's.
Requirement is to report different inventory  stock's (Total Stock, blocked stock, stock in transit..etc) based on plant, material, storage location, vendor and purchase order in BW.
    For Example:
    Plant
    material
    Stock in Transit
    Total Stock
    1000
    50000001
    0,00
    100kg
    1000
    50000002
    500kg
    600kg
If we drag the Vendor or Purchase Order Number into the report, Data gets Splitted into +ve (Inflow) and -Ve(Outflow) values.
    For Example:
    Plant
    material
    Vendor
    Purchase Order
    Stock in Transit
    Total Stock
    1000
    50000001
    54545
    567896
    +300 kg
    +400kg
    1000
    50000001
    -300kg
    -300kg
    1000
    50000002
    54549
    567899
    +900kg
    +800kg
    1000
    50000002
    -400kg
    -200kg
I Think this is because no vendor assigned to outflow data. this is my guess i don't have much knowledge on MM. i have tried to restrict the keyfig's with stock category, but for most of the vendors or PO 's its unassigned.
But we need the data in single as follows. can any one suggest me any steps to achieve this in BI or BO.
    Plant
    material
    Vendor
    Purchase Order
    Stock in Transit
    Total Stock
    1000

    Hi Sheshu and hi Srinu
Already tried constant selection but it did not helped, the same keyfigure value is displayed in all the rows.
that means the total stock value is repeated for all the vendors for a particular material.
    For example:
    Plant
    material
    Vendor
    Purchase Order
    Stock in Transit
    Total Stock
    1000

Regarding the BO settings, i need to try it.
