Choose File Form Data Create Spreadsheet - where is this dialogue?

This is the dialogue I need to use my pdf to generate the spreadsheet so i can add returned forms. However, nowhere can I find;
Choose File>Form Data>Create Spreadsheet from Data Files
This is found in the quick start tutorials in the section entitled "Collecting the data in a spreadsheet" - section number 2
How the heck do I either a) Find it
                                    b) Set up my Adobe software to show it
or                             c) Create the right file that "encourages" this option to be seen when I open Acrobat (Pro 9).
I am mightily confused and, having looked around the internet, am not alone in this.
Many thanks for any help you can offer folks.

Thank you so much Paul. I have been trying all day to locate the method by which I could create a spreadsheet using the pdf submit route. I suppose the tutorial in CS4 should have been changed to reflect the changed explanations, but I guess that would be difficult to do. Anyway it worked and I can now do the analysis I need from my customers (lots of pupils!).
Best wishes,
Kevin Palmer

  • Choose File Form Data Create Spreasheet From Data Files

I am following the tutorial for LC 8 and when I get to the topic titled "Collecting the data in a spreadsheet" it says to "Choose File > Form Data > Create Spreadsheet From Data Files".
However, when I try to follow that path I do not see a "Form Data > Create Spreadsheet From Data Files" menu option.
What am I not doing properly? How do I accomplish this task?
    Thanks!

  • Adobe Pro V 8 collecting forms data into spreadsheet

according to the tutorial included in V8, once forms have been returned, I am to open the saved form blank and then:
Choose File > Form Data> Create Spreadsheet from Data Files
HOWEVER, this menu choice is not available to me, not even grayed out.
    why isn't this menu available?
    thanks

I suppose you created the form in Designer. In such a case, you may have to do the process in Designer, not Acrobat.

  • Reader 5.1 DOES save form data. But where??

I have used Reader 5.1 for the past couple of years to fill in some forms. It will save the filled-in data when the form is closed despite the fact that's it's apparently not supposed to be able to (and save as, email, etc. all indicate that the data would be lost because I'm not allowed to edit the file). I always assumed it was in the pdf, but this year, I noticed something odd: I had to fill in two copies of the form with different data. After filling it in once, I copied the pdf and overwrote all the data in the fields with the new data. Now, whenever either one is opened, the first data displays briefly and is then overwritten with the second data.
    So...
The data is saved when it can't be.
This version of Reader doesn't even support saving the data, but it's saved anyway.
Data that was typed into one shows up in both.
Reader is not actually installed, but only extracted from the archive (works fine this way and doesn't muck my system up as much) so I can remove it when done (I use Foxit for all other pdfs).
Finally, the saved data will eventually disappear but the length of time appears to be volatile.
The form in question is an Alabama tax form if that helps (download link can be provided if you want it).
I want to separate the two lists of data and actually save it somewhere but I have no idea where it's saved. I believe the pdf got bigger after I added data but the modification date is unchanged, nothing obvious shows up when it's loaded into notepad and that doesn't explain how the second data showed up in the first file.
    Help???

Thanks George. Unfortunatly, Enable Additional Features does not limit them to just editing form data. It also gives them the rights to use commenting and drawing tools. Looking to give people ONLY rights to edit and save form data. If that is possible. It'sa legal thing, we don't want them to be able to mark it up with comments.
Anybody know if this even can be done with Acrobat X Pro?

  • Listing files by date created

Is it possible to list list files/folders by date created rather than date modified?

    Hi
in Icon view - ctrl (right) click the folder background & choose 'keep arranged by...Date created'
or use Finder-View-arrange by; or press Command-Ctrl-3
in list view -. Add a column for Date created via Finder-View-Show view options then select that at the top to show in forward/reverse order. Again, command-ctrl-3 works too, once you've added the column.

  • Merge Form Data to Spreadsheet Problem

I have always been able to export Livecycle form data to a spreadsheet using Acrobat. Now that my version has been updated from version 10.0.0 to 10.1.9, when i export the data, I get a column of gliberish instead of the form data. I tried another employees computer that has not been updated to 10.1.9 and is still at 10.0.0 and the same files exported correctly. The Acrobat update stopped this process from working and they do not leave any method for me to back up to the previous version. Has anyone lse experinced same problem? Is there a fix or workaround for this?

I cannot tell, because I don't have DAQ installed, but how big is the 2D array inside the inner loop? Do you ever start a new file or are you appending forever? Place an indicator in the 2D array to see what's written.
Some other things that caught my eye:
A value(sgnl) property makes no sense if you don't have event structures. Use a local variable.
It is confusing to place the clearing of the chart history on the right side. It is more convenient to place this on the left side of the main code. I either case, it will happen at the start of the program because there is no data dependency.
Instead of a combo box and scanning operation inside the inner loop (DAQ rate) use a ring, it will output the correct value directly if so configured.
All these properties in the inner loop only need to get written when the controls change, not with every iteration of the loop.
I am sure you are aware that you are not really writing any excel file, right?

  • Why do I have files with Date Created of Feb 5, 2040?

I have at least 26 documents with Date Created shown as Feb 5, 2040 10:28 PM.
The Date Modified seems to be okay, ranging from 9/24/00 to 10/29/12 - except for one that's 12/31/69.
The Get Information window shows the same dates as the normal Finder window.
File types are mostly DOC with some JPG and PDF and one TIFF.
All were created by me over the course of time on a succession of Macs (except for that 12/31/69 PDF, which was downloaded from Garmin) and then migrated.
Those I've checked have a Last Opened date that's the same as the Date Modified date.
These documents are all in my Documents folder, in two subfolders, with some of them further down a hierarchy of subfolders.
I first noticed this a few weeks ago.
The number of these 2/5/40 documents seems to be increasing.
    Does anyone know:
    What could cause this phenomenon?
    How can I stop it?
It's not a big problem per se, but is it likely to cause other problems?
Is there a way to correct the Created Date?
    Thanks for any help!

Then I may only guess that perhaps the date was off at some point in time that coincided with when those files were created or the application that created them has a bug in it.
Oh, at this point in time are all new files dated incorrectly? If so then there could be a corrupted part of the PRAM. You might try Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.

  • Definitive Word On ID3 Tags, Library Files & Which Data Is Stored Where...

I have spent a few hours just now (and have read the discussions a lot previously) on various iTunes issues, namely ones pertaining to organization and storage of data & info. I still have quite a few questions I would like the definitive answers for. If anyone knows for sure, thanks in advance for your response!
    1) Is there any difference between how and where iTunes stores data for audio (mp3, m4a, aif, etc.) files vs. movie (mpg, mp4, mov) files, and if so, what are they?
    2) In the info tabs/panes of tracks in iTunes, is the entered data stored in separate places? i.e., the info under the INFO pane stored in the individual media file itself while that in the OPTIONS pane stored in the main library file? Also, did I read correctly that Convert ID3 Tags causes more of the library file data to be embedded in the media file itself? (Not desirable of course, because each play would in effect "modify" the file as if it had changed and needed to be resynched, since play count is part of the data).
    3) Is there a difference between where editable data (artist, title, equalizer setting, genre, rating, etc.) is stored vs uneditable data such as play count, date added, last played, etc.?
    4) Is there a list somewhere online that shows what data is stored in the library file (settings unique to the iTunes) and what is universally in the standard ID3 tag in the media file itself?
    5) Is it safe to assume that rating, equalizer, volume, remember position and start/stop time settings for each individual track are not in the ID3 tag but only in the library file? If so, one can then assume that merely copying the library file will preserve these settings?
    6) Are ID3 tags applied and applicable to movie and audio files similarly, and do they further differ how & if they are used among each file type (mp3, m4a, aif, wav, mpg, mp4, mov, etc.)? I know with movies you cannot set or change the poster frame in mpg (muxed) files, for example.
    7) I do all my iTunes importing, editing, managment, etc. on my PowerMac desktop, with the prefs, library and xml files stored in my home folder on the PowerMac's OS drive and the large media files store on an attached ext. 500 GB FW drive. If I use a synching program to continuously keep the library/xml files the same on my iBook laptop's home folder and the media files the same on another ext. 160 GB FW drive, then when I use the iBook with the 160 GB at different events it should operate exactly the same a when using my PowerMac at home with the 500 GB? The only thing I should have to change is the location of the iTunes folder in the Prefs on the iBook to point to the 160 GB, right?
    8) Finally, now that iTunes 7 allows you to indicate sort order ("The Beatles" can now appear under "B" without writing "Beatles, The" as I have been) would it retain that sort when importing the song list into other database programs or even an iPod, or would it default back to "T"? (AppleWorks database has a similar feature where you can specify an ARTIST field which sorts by first letter of last word, but won't stay that way in other programs).
PHEW! ...long post I know, but I spent a lot of time reading and hopefully over time I can get the answers to most (or even all) of these questions. Thanks!!!
PowerMac G4/500 MHz (1 GB); iBook G4/1.33 GHz (1.5 GB)   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   (still using 10.3.9 Panther on PowerMac)

I read this on the ID3 site:
ID3 tags were designed with the MP3 file format in mind. ID3v2 tags will break formats which are container-based such as Ogg Vorbis and WMA. Here is some information on specific formats:
ID3 tags work in MP3 and MP3pro files
    WAV has no tags
WMA has its own tagging format, which is specified in the wma spec, available in the MSDN (which unfortunately, basically does not allow Open Source implementations)
Ogg Vorbis uses "Xiph Comments" (same as later versions of FLAC and Speex), which are embedded into the Ogg container. You can find information on these in the comment and container specs on www.xiph.org
AAC uses yet another tagging format, which does not at present have a published spec as of 3/1/2006.
So since I rip in AAC, does that mean the tags work differently, are stored differently or offer different editable info? Also, I found nothing regarding tags for video files as I mentioned in my question. Within iTunes I am assuming all the information you may edit or view when you Get Info for each file is not all stored together: some is in the file's ID3 tag and others in the iTunes Library file. I guess you are always safe if you keep back-ups of your media files and library files, even if you don't always know which info resides where.
I found a complete list of frames (fields) that are available in ID3v2 at the following link, many not available in iTunes, but the site lists other apps that allow you to edit tags for both Mac & Windows.
    http://www.id3.org/Frames
I am curious, if you use another app to edit the tag with a frame not offered in iTunes, will it still work in iTunes (like if you use the frame for synchronized lyrics; since it is part of the tag itself will they show up when played in iTunes even though not editable in iTunes)?

  • XML data into spreadsheet form?

I created the form and a customer filled it out and returned it to me using the submit button via email. Is there a way to take the xml data and populate an excel spreadsheet appropriately?
    Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0/ Microsoft XP Pro/ 160 gig harddrive/ 512 RAM
    Thank you for your help!
    -Darren

    Hi Darren,
Are you looking to automate this?
You can bring up the form in Acrobat and go file->Form Data -> Create Spreadsheet from data files. You would then select all the files (xml) to put in the spreadsheet.
    Does that help you?

  • Finding Files by Date Modified

I need to be able to find all files in my Documents folder modified within the last weeek. (I need to be able to do this to back it up in Backup, which does not allow users to choose files by date modified.)
How is this done with Automator?
    Much thanks!

Thank you so much for your help. It lead me to a solution!
I tried Smart Folders before, but Backup does not recognize them .
I am doing a weekly full disk image copy with Carbon Copy Cloner because I can't afford to be without all my stuff! I have an older used Mac on reserve in the event my hard drive (...) should crash. Should I my powerbook ever be out of service or need repair, I have a full backup of my entire disk image ready to go!
However, during the week I need to backup documents that I have been working on inbetween my weekly image copy. Unfortunately, Backup won't let me find and copy these files. Your solution with Automator (and the shell script) work great.
    Thanks again!
    Best regards,

  • Is there a way to manually custom-edit the "Date created" and "Date modified" attributes of files in Mac OS 10.6?

In "List View" in a Finder window, among the many column options are "Date created" and "Date modified." In "View Options" (command-J) for any folder, one can add these columns, along with the standard ones "Size," "Kind," "Label," etc.
A user can alter a file's name, and a file's "label" (i.e. its color). On the other hand, a user can NOT arbitrarily edit/alter a file's official "size" -- other than by physically altering the contents of the file itself, obviously.
But what about a file's "Date created" and "Date modified"? Can either of those be manually edited/changed, just as a file's name can be changed -- or is a file's creation-date an immutable attribute beyond the editorial reach of the user, just as a file's "size" is?
And yes, a person can "alter" a file's "Date modified" by simply modifying the file, which would change its "Date modified" to be the moment it was last altered (i.e. right now). But (and here's the key question) can a user somehow get inside a file's defining attributes and arbitrarily change a file's modification date to be at any desired point in the past that's AFTER its creation date and BEFORE the present moment? Or will so doing cause the operating system to blow a gasket?
If it is possible to arbitrarily manually alter a file's creation date or modification date, how would it be done (in 10.6)? And if it is NOT possible, then why not?

    sanjempet --
    Whew, that's a relief!
But as for your workaround solution: All it will achieve is altering the created and modified dates to RIGHT NOW. What I'm looking to do is to alter the modification/creation dates to some point in the past.
I'm not doing this for any nefarious reason. I just like to organize my work files chronologically according to when each project was initiated, but sometimes I forget to gather the disparate documents all into one folder right at the beginning, and as a result, sometimes after I finish a job, I will create a new folder to permanently house all the files in an old project, and when that folder is places in a bigger "completed projects" folder and then is organized by "Date created" or "Date modified" in list view, it is out-of-order chronologically because the creation and modification dates of that particular project folder reflect when the folder was created (i.e. today), and not when the files inside the folder were created (i.e. weeks or months ago).
The simplest solution would simply to be able to back-date the folder's creation or modification date to match the date that the project actually started!

  • Inserting automatic file name, date and time in Illustrator CS3?

    hello all,
is there an option in Illustrator where you could automatically insert inside your file the file name, date and time where it was last created or modified, etc.
I found this option to exist in InDesign, but could not find the same menu in Illustrator. I am using CS3.
    help?
    thanks a bunch.

    Mario,
would you please be so kind to include a reference on your site about the script? As far as I can see, the PutDateandTime.js you are providing here is a copy or a slightly modified copy of the original script that Wolfgang Reszel has provided on our site for about four years.
It is okay that the script is available on your site, but please not without a reference. Thanks.

  • Downloaded attachments show download date as "Date Created"

I am having an issue with Mail but have also tried using my webmail ( Gmail ) and I am having the same issue. When I download an attachment ( documents, jpegs, etc ) , it does not retain the original date created, instead it displays the download date as "Date Created ". Is there anything I can do to fix this?
    Daniel

No, as far as I know, because the document is "created" as a new document (or is that recreated? when you save it to disk. This is true not only for email attachments, but to any file copied to your hard drive, and the same is true under Windows.
However, some programs save that information within the file itself, independently of your OS's file information. For example, in MS Office apps, if you go to File > Properties you can find the original date created under the Statistics tab (but note that the General tab shows the date you downloaded the file as "date created").

  • Date created problem

I work for a newspaper that sorts all files on "date created" using YY/MM/DD format.
I recently started using Aperture, and the desk said they couldn't find the files I sent in. I finally figured out it's because Aperture uses (YYYY-MM-DD,Thh:mm:ss) for "date created" and I find no way to change it.
Is there any way to override this format?
As it is I'm forced to use my trusty PhotoMechanic for importing, only because there's no way to change this format.
Macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   2GB mem
      Mac OS X (10.4.10)

It's not a filename I'm talking about. It's just the way the "date created" line is filled in.
As I mentioned in original post, all other photographers for the NY Daily News can output a file (not from Aperture, obviously) with the date created field in YY/MM/DD format.
Whatever you type in that field that isn't in the format YYYY-MM-DD,Thh:mm:ss is rejected, saying it has to be ISO 8601 XML compliant.
But the newpaper needs another format, and other programs permit me to change it--PhotoMechanic, for example.
I can't see why that should be a fixed format, or why the user can't change it if ISO 8601 XML compliance is not important.
