Choosing LOV in the table row , clears the rest of the columns

Hi. I am on Jdev 11g R3
I have a table with several editable columns. One of the columns is LOV
I put some data in the NON lov field.
Next I choose the value from LOV. As soon as I choose the value in LOV - the rest of the fields get cleared and appears empty.
I can solve it by setting "autosubmit=true" on each column, but I wander if there is an option to preserve column values without "autosubmit"
Please advice

Which version is 11g R3?
I only know abpout 11g R1 (11.1.1.0.0 - 11.1.1.7.0) and 11g R2 (11.1.2.0.0 - 11.1.2.4.0).
Where does the LOV store it's selected value?
Does this happen if you set the LOV to autoSubmit="true"?

Assuming you have a node 'ScheduledCourses' with two attributes 'courseId' and 'courseName' and you want to display the 'courseName' on click of the button placed in a particular row of the table, please try the following (Most of them you have already done, if i am not wrong. I am listing the entire steps so that you can check whether you have missed any thing).
1. Place a Table UI element and bind the datatsource property to the node 'ScheduledCourses'
2. Insert a new column in the table and for the column insert a table cell editor and select 'Button' from the list.
3. select the button(table cell editor) and create an action for the button. While creating an action create a parameter with name 'courseElement' and type as IPrivate<ViewName>.IScheduledCoursesElement (Interface representing element of ScheduledCourses node)
3. In wdDoModifyView() write the following code

 IWDButton button=(IWDButton)view.getElement("Button1");
 button.mappingOfOnAction().addSourceMapping("nodeElement","courseElement");
Here "Button1" is the id of the button inserted in the table column. The string "nodeElement" should be written as such and "courseElement" is the name of the parameter which we have created for the action of the button.
4. Now in the action created for the button try to print the courseName as shown

Dynamically adjust table row height based on data in column

Hi all,
I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 and have a requirement for a table to adjust the height of its rows depending on the data in the columns. One of the columns in the table is a rich text description field and I have the 'rows' property set to 13. This field could have twenty lines of text/images or just one. The users would like the page to show all twenty lines of text without having to scroll but the table has the same height for all the rows (that I set to 13) and provides a scroll bar when the data exceeds this size. My users do not like to scroll, and want the height of each row to be determined by the data in it. I looked at a few options and also did a search online, but was unable to find anything to fulfill this requirement. Do you know of how I could change the height of each row in the table so that it fits the data that it holds?

As you see, the picture has to be scrolled so that the whole picture is visible. The user requirement is to adjust the row height to show the full picture. Ideally the next two rows would shrink, but that would be a nice to have.

I tried to use the autoHeightRows to adjust the height of my rows but was unsuccessful. If I understand the autoHeightRows property correctly, this is used for setting the height of the whole table. If this is incorrect and it can be used for setting the height of individual rows in the table, please correct me. I have the 'Rows' property of the richTextEditor set to 13 and this is the height that I would like to make dynamic based on the data.
My users requirement is for the height to be big enough for the data in each row of the table (the table has a description column and the height of each row should be determined by the data contained in it). I updated my Screen Shot to show the desired layout and what is currently being generated though ADF (http://www.flickr.com/photos/87583386@N05/) .
I have three rows in the example (in actuality these are around 50) and the text in each row can vary. The users would like to see the full text/image in each row without having to scroll each row. Currently my table is within Panel Box, which is inside a PanelGroupLayout-Scroll which is in a PanelStretchLayout. I tried to put the table by itself with the autoHeightRow modifications you suggested but thsi did not help either. I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
Is this possible with an ADF Table? If it is, is the autoHeight property the only one that I am setting incorrectly? If not, is there another component I can use to get the desired functionality? My users are very strict about this requirement and will not accept the application without this.

When using suggestedItems or LOV (on the same field) I get " Graph nodes cannot be sorted due to a cycle in the graph."

Hi. I am on Jdev 11g R2
I have a atribute in the VO with LOV attached. And also another attribute in the same LOV with is dependant to the first LOV. It means when I choose LOV on the first attribute the second LOV uses the chosen value,
I droped the VO as FORM on the page.
When I go to the first attribute and choose the LOV value (from suggestedItems or from LOV search popup) I get the following message:
Graph nodes cannot be sorted due to a cycle in the graph
It only happens for the first time. If i choose LOV after I get the error message , everything is working just fine
Error message indicates that it may be some loop in the VO, but there is no....
Please advice what can it be

I am trying to access a table of records through JDBC OracleCallableStatement. I am able to do it fine for all mappings except for the ones below
TYPE CAT_CD_TYPE IS TABLE OF A.B %TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
TYPE ORG_CD_TYPE IS TABLE OF C.D %TYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
Column B is CHAR(1) and Column D is CHAR(2). I am trying to register the out parameters of Oraclecallablestatement as
cstmt.registerIndexTableOutParameter(2, 2000, OracleTypes.CHAR, 0);
cstmt.registerIndexTableOutParameter(3, 2000, OracleTypes.CHAR, 0);
All the other mappings work fine. These two fail with the error

If a PL/SQL table is indexed by CHAR and is a parameter
in a Stored Program, we are not able to call the stored
program from the Java code.
We get the following error code.
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06550: line 1, column 62:

But if we change the CHAR into VARCHAR2 then it works.

In table rows , i need to check the date validation of perivous ent'd rows

I'm using adf 11g.
I have a table with add and delete button in jsff. In jsff page , i mean table row have one lov column and date column and enterable inputtext fields .
Conditions 1.lov value , date column and inputext value should be unique . this can be handled by alternate key.
2. if user enters value like
lov value date inputtext
v1 01/02/2011 ipt1
v2 01/02/2011 ipt2
v1 01/01/2011 ipt3 here , lov selected v1 is already selected in first row, i want to validate dat second occurance of v1 with combination date and inputtext should be
unique --- it makes unique with compare to first row .but i have to check second v1 date should be always greater than the first v1's date .
User can add n number of records of keeping date variance , but the same lov value having record , the date should be always less than the perivouse entered row date (same lov value ).
how can i handle this date check . business rules / validation .

I found the problem, now it is working.
Previosly i was using readonly parameter in the selectOneChoice list like
readOnly="#{bindings.EnabledFlag.inputValue eq 'ACTIVE'}"
but when i changed this like
readOnly="#{row.EnabledFlag eq 'ACTIVE'}"
Then it worked. Because previously it was comparing the value of EnabledFlag of the selected row.
That is why all the rows are gettting enabled or disabled by the changing of the selected row depending upon the value of the EnableFlag.

Modifying Internal Table row - The column name is dynamic

I need to update the internal table as described below,
Assume that i have 10 columns in my internal table and i need to modifying the column value in row, which is dynamic.
for example, i'm writing it in Subroutine and it has 3 formal parameter
1) Key field value
2) Column name
3) Value of the column
in my subroutine i need to write code to modify the row, which should handle the columns dynamically.
Samples,
7th record i need to modify the 4th column value.
4th record i need to modify the 9th column value.
Please guide me to handle this requirement.write me if i'm not clear.

For the column check the ASSIGN statement:
No system here, but I think it is:
ASSIGN COMPONENT <index> OF STRUCTURE <structure> TO <field-symbol>.
For the row:
READ TABLE <itab> INDEX <index> INTO <work area>.
--> For your 1. example you could write:
READ TABLE <itab> INDEX 7 INTO <work area>.
ASSIGN COMPONENT 4 OF STRUCTURE <work area> TO <field-symbol>.
<field symbol> now points to the 4th column of the 7th row.

LOV inside the inner table not working!!!

I have a Master Advanced Table and an Inner Detail Table (again Advanced). (I know it is a performance issue, but .. :( )
I have a customer number LOV in the inner table. But when I select a row from the LOV I am not getting the value returned to my return item. The LOV popup page just stays there without responding to any post request.
I am on 11.5.10 RUP4.

Hide the Table Row Scroller

Hello ,
I am on EP7.0 NW04s and want to hide the Table Row Scroller ...the one which says "Row 1 of 4" for eg: ....is there any table property I can modify to achieve this..

For Hiding RowScroller, footerVisible setting will not work.
If you want to hide the Row scroller then do following steps
(1).IWDTable t = (IWDTable)view.getElemnt("Table");
(2)t.setVisibleRows(2);
(3)then delete the rows which you do not want to show..
and before deleting copy it some where.
Or the other way to handle the problem is :-
TableNode----
> ActualNode create both in the context
Keep all contents in your actual Node.
And when you want to update the number of rows...
then invalidate TableNode( it will clear the table node).
And the again copy Elements from ActualNode.
And keep a count of the number of elements, set the visibility of row to that count..
In this way the scroller will never come...
See basic of this concept is that you have to keep the VisibleRow setting same as number of elements in your table.

Table.rows.find() returns null in a table where the row exists.

I am working in a Project in Visual Studio 2013 where I have to read an Excel report related with a list of business opportunities. Some of the Fields that are involved in it are: Opportunity ID, BU, Account, close date, Account Manager,
Total Value and so on. As soon as I get the conection with the Excel Report, I fill a DataTable and declare the columns [Opportunity ID] and [BU] as my Primary Keys. In that way, an Opportunity value may have one o more rows
with different BU code each of them. In consequence, you can define one row in the table if you specify the [Opportunity ID] and the [BU] values.
My problem starts when I try to get information of those rows that have an specific value of [Opportunity ID]. For that situation I make a "foreach" structure where I check the BU codes that are involved with that Opportunity. So
I use the Find() Method to get the information of the row specified by the Opportunity ID and BU. The first time it goes to find the information it gets the results successfully but in the next cycle changing just the [BU] using the same [Opportunity
ID] value, the find() method returns a "null" and I do not know why because I am sure that the row exists in the table. I have verified the "Unique" property for the [Opportunity ID] and [BU] columns (which are
my primary keys) and they are in false which is OK.
I share the code that I am using...

I am absolutely sure that the second ítem of BU is valid and exist in the table because I tried to make a "Select" statement in the table providing the values of [Opportunity ID] and [BU] and I get the expected record. So, why is not
working using Find() with the defined Primary Keys???
I tried this in order to test that the record exists...

Smartforms how to print Table rows on to the next page automatically

SMART forms:
layout : Half of my A4 page is filled with templates, a small portion is footer, the middle portion is Table.
Note: i have set the condition for the footer as (tick the check box) "only after end of main window"
Output:
                   the template is displayed the table is populated on the first page, no footer on 1st page,
                on page 2 the table rows are printed (table rows were a lot) and finally footer got printed every thing as per normal
what i want is:
                 instead of the table lines printed in the middle of page 2 (bcz my main window table is in the middle, top is templates)
                 i want the table lines (after filling the main window table lines in the 1st page) to continue to print from the
                 top of the page on page 2 and immediately after the table rows finish. footer must be printed....
what should i be doing to get this output

yes i have done that already as u said, when i do it......
i created a new page (next page) directed first page to next page
on the next page my layout is like below
removed all the templates dragged the main window to the top of the page......
when i check the result, there is an empty line as the first line in the table (2nd page)
and also the footer (again a template) on the first page, which is ticked as ( print after end of main window) is NOT displaying.

The design property in Table properties should work for your requirement. Select "alternating" value for design.
Please see the API below:
design
Determines the appearance of the table. The property design can take the following values and is represented by enumeration type WDTableDesign.
alternating - The table rows are displayed alternately in a different color.
standard - The table background has one color. The individual table rows are displayed with grid net lines.
transparent - The table background is transparent. The individual table rows are displayed without grid net lines.
Check whether you have changed the right property or not? Also table should contain more than one rows to test this scenario.

How to verify that the user has changed table row data before db update

Hi all,
Iam using Oracle ADF with EJBs.
I have a single selection table that displays rows of data returned from a function of my data control.
The columns of my table are editable so that the user can change the data. The user selects a row, changes the data in one or more columns of the row and saves the data by means of a submit button. The code in the submit button, identifies the row of the corresponding iterator that the user clicked on and updates the data in the database (using the 'mergeEntity' function of the EntityManager)
Before saving the data, I want to put some logic to check whether the user has actually changed some data to avoid unnecessary updates in the database . But for this I need a technique to detect that the user has indeed changed some data in the table row.
One technique I have been using so far was to isolate the iterator row of the table and then query the corresponding row in the database table and compare their values.
Except from dummy, this technique is not efficient if the table contains many rows.
Moreover, in my case I have observed that on successive updates on the same row , the query on the database returns the new values (user changed values) and not the actual values contained in the database table. This means that when the user updates an iterator row the cached data affect also the results of the SELECT statement from the actual database table!!! Isn't this strange ?
Can somebody propose me a neat method to detect when the user has changed the the data of an iterator row ?

The below solution seems overly complicated to me and can not be implemented without a custom screen and/or the use of JavaScript. Also, if your main concern is that a user may accidentally loose all their data because they closed the browser window or the session times out before they hit the save button then this solution does not help you.
There are a couple of simpler approaches you can take here:
# If the use of JavaScript is permissible you can hook into the windows 'onUnload' event, and pop-up a message box which gives the user the opportunity to cancel closing the window and save their case if they haven't already.
# Implement an autosave feature by hooking into one of events provided by web determinations. A simple (but rather naive) way of doing this would be to hook into the OnRenderScreenEvent and call save on the interview session every time the event fires. This guarantees that all the data the user has submitted will aways automatically be saved, thereby removing the need to make sure the user manually saves their data before closing the browser.
Automatically making Web Determinations close a browser window has to be done using JavaScript. However, doing so means that a) it won't work for people who turn off JavaScript, which is commonly done for accessibility reasons b) you'll likely run afoul of the browser's security mechanism (they generally won't let you close a window that you didn't open and some really don't like you doing that at all).
