CIM - Adding a software unit

Hello everyone,
In our company we develop Add-ons. Similar to SAP these Add-ons have some ABAP and some Java/J2EE parts. The later are developed using layered track development in NWDI.
To complete the software product definition in CIM, we should be able to add the "software unit" to our product definition. With this one can model the logical relationship to the ABAP and to the Java/J2EE part. This similar to the way SAP does. For instance: See definition of SAP WEB AS 6.40
Does anybody know how to add definitions of software units to the CIM?

Sorry for my late response. I actually mean software units. These units a describe by SAP as a logical feature of a software product. An example.
WEB AS 6.40 has two software units:
- WEB AS 6.40 ABAP
- WEB AS 6.40 J2EE
A software unit is related to several software component. An example:
The software unit WEB AS 6.40 ABAP:
- SAP BASIS
- SAP ABA
- Kernel

While adding a software component in the SLD, i am getting the below error. Can anybody please suggest me the possible reason for the same.

Install of Sol. Mgr hangs during INSTALL SOFTWARE UNITS phase of SAPINST

I'm installing Solution Mgr. 7.0 Ehp1 with Oracle on Windows 2003 Server. The JDK is 1.4.2_26-x64
When I get to the INSTALL SOFTWARE UNITS phase of SAPINST, it hangs. This is phase 37 of 46
I see several different warnings/errors in the various logs. Not sure which one is the real problem. Here is what I see in the various logs.

I followed your instructions, and the problem still exist. Per note 908911, I added "SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION" role to the SAPJSF user in the backend ABAP system. I've tried starting and stopping
the System through SAP MMC, and I see the following (solman is our hostname):
solman 0 - The AS ABAP work processes start sucessfully, the AS Java processes, show three processes, with two in the stopped state:
1) SDM - state is stopped
2) Dispatcher - state is running
3) server0 - state is stopped, with a return code of -11113
solman 1 - shows 2 processes
1) Msg Server - running
2) Enqueue Server - running
From SAP MMC, I look at the Developer trace for the 2 stopped processes (SDM and server0). This brings up the dev_server0 log, and the dev_sdm log. In both files, I see the following error:

When I look for this file, it does not exist. Is this my problem, and where does this file come from during the install?

However, I see that this file does exist, but what does it mean "a user-mapped section is open"?
As for the configtool, Global Server Configuration, when I look for all instances of J2EE_GUEST or SAPJSF, only two parameters show up:

ume.r3.connection.master.user = SAPJSF
Looking in the ABAP System (via SU01), I see that J2EE_GUEST shows password deactivated. Is this correct?

Not sure what you mean by update the latest logs from sapinst.log.   I've displayed the sapinst.log in the original post. I may just be misunderstanding your request.

Creation of Product :technical abbreviation of the software unit name

Hi All,
I am trying to create a new SWCV in SLD and after entering the initial product name,version and vendor , Iam asked to
"Enter the technical abbreviation of the software unit name"
I further see that this gets listed as "Software unit".
Whats the importance of this field and also what would be the typical values ?

Did you mean by "Technical abbreviation " same as the SWC or the SW Product ? Cos SW Product is collection of SWC ?
I have given Technical abbreviation as SWC itelf.. BUt When I see the various software unit in the ProductA , I find 2 entries even though I have created only one.

Adding New Org Units to Existing Organization Structure

Hi,
There is a change in the Org Structure, i.e we are adding new Org Units(Personnel Sub areas) to the existing Structure and creating postions to the newly created Org Units using PP01. Now my question is what are all things need to be configured with respect to Payroll, for the newly created PSA.

Please be more clearer. PSAs are not org units. PSA belong to enterprise structure, whereas Org Unit belong to Org Structure. When you create new positions under the Org Units tht have been assigned to a PSA, PA, Company Code, Cost Center and Controlling area combination, you would have to set the following.
Group your PSA for,
Primary Wage Types
Premium
Work Schedule
Time Recording
Absence Attendence Type.
Assign Tax Area to a PSA(If it is US Payroll).

While We r Creating the Product in SLD, It is Asking for <b>"Add New Non-SAP Software Unit"</b> .
What is This ????? Why Do We Use this ????
I saw this Option in Only PI7.0......

Those are none other than Software Components that are not existing in the list and you are creating it new.
For example if you are selecting the Product that is existing say "SAP ECC". Now when you go for creating Software Component versions you can select from the list or you can creat your own. When you are creating of your own Software Component it is called Non-SAP Sotware Unit.

Could any one tell me what is the significance of creating software unit. I know that it is used to link product and the SWC
but what exactly it does.If i give same Software unit for all my product or if i give different software unit for all my product
how does exactly it impacts and what is the use of having a software unit from dev prospective.

Proble in SC State while adding a software component into a Track

Hi all,
I have created a product, software component in SLD and added the dependencies to the software component in SLD and in CMS i created a track and include the software component which i have created in SLD. For this software component SC State is not at all displaying (red, yello, green). How to change the SC state of the software component. Is there any procedure to do that, if so could any tell me the procedure.

Adding a Software Source?

Hello everyone.
I just installed Arch Linux to my desktop today and have been tweaking it with a lot of stuff to make it look like OSX (just for fun, really). I've stumbled upon a problem, however, as I find I need to add a software source.
In Ubuntu, this is done:
System -> Administration -> Software Sources etc...
But there seems to be no such area as Administration under System in Arch.
I am running Gnome, by the way.
I have used google, searched, the arch wiki, and looked on youtube, but I cannot find how to simply add a source for software in Arch.
Is there some sort of text document I need to edit for this, like the conf files I had to edit during installation?
Also note that I have to input a key of some sort as well, which is done after the source is added. I don't know if this could really be done in a conf file.
If it is any help, the exact program I am looking for is gnome-globalmenu.

What...? You are using arch now. Get familar with pacman and aur. Wiki is the place to start reading.

PPA is a ubuntu (or debian?) only thing. If software is not in the Arch repos, you can write your own PKGBUILD or check if one is available in the AUR.
