Cineware, external compositing, and easing

apparently there's a known bug with Cineware and AE CC 2014, described here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/c4d-ae-cc-2014-timed.html
the workaround to use After Effects 12.2 (CC) doesn't seem to work - i get the same wrong results as with CC 2014.
is there any other workaround, without buying Cinema4D, or do i have to look for anything special when using the plugin?
at the momment, the plugin is quite useless to me, as the 3d information is just not lining up correctly.
thanks in advance
tom

Hello Tom,
Thank you for calling attention to that document.  It is out of date.  The known issue has been resolved as of After Effects version 13.1 (CC2014)  Make sure your software is fully up to date.  If you are still having problems, send me a direct message and if you send me some sample files, I can address the problem in your project.
Thank you,
Greg

  • Cineware External Compositing Tag solid not lining up

    I'm working on a pretty simple animation to show off my clients new iPhone app. The problem I'm having is 2 fold, first when I use Cineware, the screen plane that I have an external compositing tag on, to create a solid, the solid doesn't match up to the movement. It lags behind kinda catching up, but not completely.
    Second, out of desperation, I thought I'd try rendering out from C4D, and importing the AEC file, but that doesn't even have the solid in the composition? I tried a very simple animation with just a spinning plane, and the solid in Cineware was doing just what I have above, but when I rendered out the aec, and imported everything was lined up.
    You can download the scene from my DropBox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1dpnzjvjp8otqyt/3D-iPhone.zip
    The compositing tag was working in Ae before I started to animate the phone, so I'm really confused as to why it doesn't line up! What am I doing wrong? Any help is really appreciated!

    Ya, I forgot to mention versions C4D r14 and Ae 2014.
    Could you do me a favor and render just one frame of the file, and see if you can get the aec file to import the solid?
    Any suggestions on getting around this bug? I could step back to Ae 12.2 if you had it work there for you?
    I really appreciate the response, yes this is a rather infuriating bug! I'm a couple hours of work and a couple hours of rendering from being done with the project and then this....

  • C4D External Compositing tag not working with Cineware AE CC

    I've got a problem which shouldn't really be an issue but I can't seem to get my head around… I understand if this is a mouthful or I think I'm explaining jargon which you're already aware of, so apologies in advance but it's best that my question's clear…
    I've created a scene in C4D which consists of a book opening to a certain page which will have an image on it. As it opens onto this specific page, the camera zooms inside of the image on this page, which then cuts to footage from our edit.
    The image which is on the page is going to be a 2D graphic element created in AE, and this element needs to track with the 3D data which was created in C4D so it appears seamless (once the tracking data has been imported into AE and I've applied the graphic element to the page).
    In the C4D scene; the page which will contain the image has a null with an external compositing tag attached so that the information will translate once imported into AE. The problem is that when I export my C4D file into AE with the 3D data, the null which should be locked on the page where the image should be sitting, isn't synced to the C4D animation at all and it's moving almost to its own key framing.
    I'm using After Effects CC and Cinema 4D R15 if that helps. AE CC now uses CineWare instead of the traditional importing of 3D data from C4D.
    I've also attached the project files if it's worth looking at.  Files OriginalPageTurn_1.1/1.2 are just XRef links for Passport_1.4

    You need to remove/ temporarily disable the Cineware plug-in and install the AEC importer. That's a known conflict.

  • Cineware Limitations (cloner w/ external compositing tag, camera morph tag)

    Hi!
    I've made the switch to AE CC 2014 and have been trying to use cineware instead of working with an AEC file. I have ran into some issues though. If I animate a camera in C4d using the Camera Morph Tag, The animation doesn't get extracted into AE with Cineware. This also happens if I add an external compositing tag to a cloner object. Both of these worked with the AEC file, but do not work with Cineware. Whats the deal?!

    The Camera Morph uses Python/ XPresso under the hood and needs to be baked. The external compositing tag is somehow borked. You can try to clone it to a Matrix Object with Nulls. This may work.

  • Cinema4D lite to Ae - External Compositing Tag - drifting... help

    Trying to finish a job, at the last stages, everything is good to go using cinema4D lite and Ae Cineware. I've set up a couple of video boards and animations in cinema 4D lite (with external compositing tags) and back in after effects extract the camera from the cinema project... but no matter what I change, the position of the 'external compositing tag solid' drifts and doesn't align properly to the video boards... changed it to +Z as other forums suggested but no difference?... I even created a simple new scene, with one plane to see if my project had some setting wrong but the same problem... any ideas how to fix this?
    Here's the test files... notice the red solid drifts in and out, not following the camera move correctly in after effects
    Dropbox - Test C4D to Ae plane

    Had a look at all the camera settings and they all match, frame rate of the scenes match too... just did a bit more experimenting with that simple scene with one plane and got it to match by changing the camera rotation order to XYZ (which messes up any previous rotation keyframes) ...AND here's the kicker... I had to convert the keyframes to linear... the default F-curve 'easing' that cinema 4D lite creates IS NOT translated into After Effects! (In my case anyhow) What a pain.

  • External compositing tag in after effects cc

    I can't get an external compositing tag made in cinema 4D R15 to work correctly in AE CC via Cineware. In cinema 4D I have an asteroid following a spline from 0 to 100% and I need the keyframes for position in order to attach  at the 3D null Trapcode Particular emitter with fire and smoke particles. Problem is that in Cineware I don't get keyframes for position of the 3D null.
    Everything works perfectly in my  Aec file in AE CS 6 so it is not a problem of settings in Cinema 4D. Is it a bug or there something wrong with my AE CC installation?

    You need to bake the spline motion in the Timeline editor. That's what happens when you create an AEC, anyway. As to why Cineware doesn't behave in the same way, is anyone's guess. Yeah, perhaps a bug, but what else is new with C4D?

  • Strange Bug Cineware with Plane and Nested Plane

    Hi There,
    I've got a scene in Cinema4d with a plane and underneath that plane also a plane. Both of them have an external compositing tag.
    The first plane is keyframed, the second one is getting his behaviour off the first.
    When I import this scene using Cineware into after effects, the first plane displayed correctly with his movement, but with the second plane is something wrong. There is a slight movement in the rotation, and therefore unusable.
    This is just an test setupo, because im having the same difficulties with my main animation. The nested plane is alway off sync with my animation. And I've discovered that it is going wrong with this workaround.
    Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong, is it not possible to add an external compositing tag to a plane which is a child? Of is there an option I've forgotten? I also baked the animation, but this also didn't work.
    EDIT: When im export the same project to an older AEC file and import this into After Effects CS6 everything is alright! Is it a bug in Cineware?

    So:
    <cfset "VARIABLES.#a#" = masterQuery["#a#"]>
    Should read:
    <cfset "VARIABLES.#a#" = masterQuery["#a#"][1]>
    Could be better, much better! The following are just string assignments:
    <cfset "VARIABLES.#a#" = masterQuery["#a#"][1]>
    <cfset "VARIABLES.#a#" = evaluate('masterQuery.#a#')>
    They contain a lot of complexity for the sake of complexity! A variable assignment would have been much better.
    Let us therefore dissect the code. Consider the loop you reference:
    <cfloop list="#masterQuery.columnList#" index="a">
            <cfset "VARIABLES.#a#" = evaluate('masterQuery.#a#')>
    </cfloop>
    Assume that the columnList consists of "col1,col2,col3". Also assume that the query returns the following data:
          col1 | col2 | col3
    row 1: v11 | v12 | v13
    row 2: v21 | v22 | v23
    row 3: v31 | v32 | v33
    row 4: v41 | v42 | v43
    Then the loop will run 3 times, since columnList has 3 elements. The attribute index="a" implies that the variable a will successively take the values "col1", "col2", "col3" at each pass of the loop. The value of "VARIABLES.#a#" will therefore be, successively, the strings
    "VARIABLES.col1"
    "VARIABLES.col2"
    "VARIABLES.col3"
    Likewise, the variable evaluate('masterQuery.#a#') will take on the respective values
    evaluate('masterQuery.col1')
    evaluate('masterQuery.col2')
    evaluate('masterQuery.col3')
    These are, by default, the values of the first row of each column, hence:
    v11
    v12
    v13
    So, what your loop actually does is as follows:
    First pass:
         "VARIABLES.col1" = v11
    Second pass:
         "VARIABLES.col2" = v12
    Third pass:
         "VARIABLES.col3" = v13
    You are essentially picking out the values of the first row! It would have been much simpler, and neater, to do something like this instead:
    <cfset firstRowData = structNew()>
    <cfloop list="#masterQuery.columnList#" index="a">
            <cfset firstRowData[a] = masterQuery[a][1]>
    </cfloop>

  • Business Objects, external services and application services in CAs

    Hi All,
    right now we are developing our first eSOA Composite Application with CE and I have some questions regarding Business Objects, the import of external services and the development of application services.
    As I understood there are two ways to provide business functionality for composite applications:
    a. Import backend functionality as an external service (e.g. BAPI, RFC) at the CAF, build the application service which can be used as a callable object for UIs or the GPs
    b. Develop a local Business Object (in CAF) providing the business logic, create the application service which again can be used as a callable object. Furthermore the application service can be exposed as a Web Service (external service).
    My questions:
    1. When is it appropriate to to import external services in stead of developing local BOs?
    2. Under what conditions is it advisable to (solely) develop local BOs?
    3. What are the advantages / disadvantages regarding the reusability of the services (in option a and b)?
    Note: We are developing on NetWeaver 2004s.
    Please let me know, if you need more information to answer the questions!
    Thanks for your advice in advance,
    Regards,
    Ivonne

    Hi Ivonne,
    first of all, the CAF Business Objects (BOs) itself don't contain any business logic, they're basically just local database tables (with some CRUD services on top).
    Business logic is implemented in Application Services (AS).
    Now, regarding local BO's vs. external services, it depends on your use case. If the data is already available somewhere in your backend system it makes sense to use external services. For instance you wouldn't want to store business partners all over different composites. For data that is specific to your composite (in particular configuration, customizing etc.) and not likely to be reused by other applications you should use local BOs.
    Accessing local BO's is also much faster than calling external services.
    You can do reuse in both scenarios, since the CAF services can be exposed as web services.
    Regards,
    Christian

    It's clearly not impossible, just different than you expect. Create your playlist as you want it to appear in the Current tab (meaning don't dump every single song from your library in there, just the ones you want) and then save the playlist.

    Look at save_absolute_paths_in_playlists in your mpd.conf.

  • Give swipeleft/right gestures to multiple external compositions that are loaded with composition loader by Edge Commons

    Hello,
    I have multiple external compositions that I load in my Edge project, with the composition loader by Edge Commons.
    I would like to connect these external compositions with swipeleft / right gestures.
    When I give the containers (where the external compositions are loaded in) the swipe gestures, it
    works perfectly. But when the external compositions are loaded, the swipe gestures on the containers doesn't work anymore.
    So is it possible to give the external compositions the swipe gestures. And that when they are loaded in my Edge project, the external compositions can communicate with each other.
    For Example:
    External composition one is loaded and when I swipe to the left, external composition 2 will slide in from right to left.
    I think it must be that the external compositions have a function to control the timeline in the Edge Project.
    I hope that this is possible and can help me with the code. Or have another solution.
    Thanks!

    I think I have the same or a similar issue.
    I am using a modified version of Edge Commons - Extension Library for Edge Animate and Edge Reflow | EdgeDocks.com
    to listen to touch swipe events in an external compositions.
    var promise = EC.loadComposition("publish/comp_01.html", sym.getSymbol("content"));
         promise.done(function(comp) {
               var stage = comp.getStage();
           // Listen for events dispatched by the external composition
                    stage.$("bg").swipeleft(function() {
                          EC.loadComposition("publish/comp_02.html", sym.getSymbol("content"));
                    stage.$("bg").swiperight(function() {
                          EC.loadComposition("publish/test1.html", sym.getSymbol("content"));
    This works great for the composition loaded by this script, but the comp.getStage function does not pick up on swipe events on anything other than the .$("bg") in this composition.
    For example I have 30 compositions each with a .$("bg") but only the one loaded by this script works with this script. I am looking for a way to universalize the event listener to work with every .$("bg") loaded into my main stage symbol.
    Do you or does anyone else have a solution?

  • Load external images and video in edge

    Hi.
    I am looking into edge instead of flash.
    My question is how do you load external images and videos from an external server?
    To clarify, I need to insert a link from where the images can load into the stage, so they don´t take up any of the final weight.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best,
    Stig.

    The above solution I provided works if you already have the images in your composition and than if you want form load images from another server rather than the relative location to your html file.
    Now if you want to load images dynamically into a rectagle containter you will have to code it.
    below is a sample for that
    Create a 'rectangle' with name 'Rectagle'.
    Add the snippet in the compositon ready or on other user actiosn based on your requirement
    var myImagetag = '<img src="http://wwwimages.adobe.com/include/style/default/SiteHeader/logo-2x.png">'
    sym.$("Rectangle").append(myImagetag);

  • I'd love some help trying to figure out why my 2008 MacBook no longer recognizes my external drive and now is not downloading photos from my iphone....?

    After many years of having no problems at all on my Macbook, I recently figured I should finally upgrade my OS. I did that about three weeks ago, updating to Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I used Time Machine at least once after the OS upgrade but now Time Machine no longer recognizes the external drive I have used for all these years to back up. The MacBook does not "see" it. (Disk Utility does however.) The computer then also stopped recognizing another La Cie back-up that I have and now... my iPhone cannot download photos? Yikes.
    I have, of course, shut down numerous times, used different cables (that worked for some) and the two USB drives. I even used a firewire. Nothing worked. I also tried to "Repair disk" on Disk Utility. It didn't work either, giving me an error (that I didn't save, sorry).
    I read many other discussions on the file format of the external drive and of course I'd be happy to reformat the external drives--however, it is obviously a tad nerve-wracking to reformat drives before having an accessible back-up. Suggestions? I do not remember what file format they have but am pretty sure it's not the Mac file system someone mentioned. The drives are a 2009 WD "My Passport Elite" and La Cie 2007 d2 Quadra,
    In terms of other hardware available, we do have another MacBook Air but it has  started rejecting both drives as well (without the Snow Leopard upgrade). We have an old Dell but it wouldn't have the disk space to help out much.
    Any thoughts on the process involved would be welcome.  Any ideas on the iPhone rejection would be helpful as well! It is a 30gig iPhone 4 that has 20 or so gigs free (not clear as iTunes says that there are abour 18 Gigs on the phone but 24 free gigs? I may be bad at math but that's 40 gigs...).
    I am checking out iCloud but apparently there are only 55 gigs available?
    Will be glad to hear any thoughts. Thanks!

    Good afternoon Lyssa,
    Phew. First of all, thanks in advance...these blogs are always comforting help!
    So, to answer your questions: For the age of the hard drive.Well, I added memory a couple of years ago (RAM and hard drive). Being a mom leads me to eat up a fair amount of gigs with photos of my kids and, in fact, I think I entirely replaced the original drive, so it is a couple years younger than 2008 since I did that in March 2010. If there is some way to verify that (whether or not I replaced the entire drive), I'm all ears. I have 311 Gigs free, so it is not a space issue. I verified the startup disk on Disk Utilityand nothing showed up.
    Question 1- What formats...
    The La Cie is format Windows NT Filesystem 3G ....At the time that I bought it I was still using a PC as well as a Mac and was told by afriend to use this format...
    The WD is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I again tried to repair the WD last night and this is the error message: "Error: DiskUtility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files."
    Also, Time Machine tried again to back-up and gave  me this error: "Files can't becopied onto the backup disk because it appears to be 'read only'. You may needto repair or reformat the disk using Disk Utility. If the disk can't berepaired, you must use a different disk for backups. Open Time Machinepreferences to select a different backup disk."
    Question 2. Other cables...
    I used two other cables with the WD and that didn't change anything.
    Question 3... Fire Wire from the La Cie
    Yes, I used the Firewire cable from the La Cie and it is indeed present, though still not visible in Finder. Since it is not Mac OSExtended I know that I can't use Time Machine with it.
    So, in summary...
    I can plug in the La Cie and it is functional on the MacBook, visible on Disk Utility but not visible in Finder. The WD drive is not visible and not functional. So we can think it is indeed the WD that is not working.... Also, the iphone photos did, in the end, get downloaded, so it is not something more general.
    Causes...
    I forgot to mention that there is a "lost+found" file on the WD which apparently points to a UNIX /OS issue?
    Some kind of "insurance"?....
    I'm curious about how people avoid this kind of issue. You just regularly replace back-up drives and hard drives before problems come up? Time Machine is great and saves many of us from disasters, however, knowing that your Time Machine back-ups are vulnerable makes the whole system insecure. No way to have alarms ring before the drive goes out?
    As for ways ahead...
    It seems that I ought to be able to copy off of the WD to the MacBook then erase it and reformat it and start over again. However, I haven’t been able to see its contents except on random occasions. If you have any ideas on how to copy the Time Machineback-ups from the WD, again, I'm all ears!

    Hi,
    All postings which are originated from other than CO module ( i.e from interface, FI etc ), are called External postings in CO.
    Whereas internal postings means posting which happen within CO module, example Assessment, Distribution etc within a company code.
