Cisco EOS/EOL Discovery

Hello All,
I have the unfortunate task to discover the Hardware/Software EOL + Hardware/Software manufacturers support details off one of our clients LANs
The client does have Ciscoworks LanMan - but unfortunately for me its pre dates version 3.2, so this means I cannot manually or automatically use the EOL discovery within, plus there is no funding for available for an software upgrade either.
So apart from manually shifting through each device - is there any other way I can acheive this discovery?

Hi Paul,
I'm sure there are other tools, but if you've a Linux/UNIX host which has SSH/telnet access to the devices on the LAN, then RANCID is one option. This tool can be up and running in a few hours and doesn't do a bad job of getting inventory details. And it's released under a modified BSD license so there's no cost.
This is the part numbers it collects from one of my Catalyst 6500, and as you can see, the part numbers are those that should be recognised straight from the EoS announcement.

  • Cisco WS-C6506-E EOS / EOL notice

    Hi all,
Looking for a cisco URL where show the C6506-E End-of-Life and End-of-Sale informations.
On top of it, where can i see a list of all others products same EOS / EOL info?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Christopher

The "E" series chassis still have alot of life to go, up to 2020.  Cisco is even about to unviel a new Supervisor engine by 3rd Quarter of 2011 called the Sup2T.  Read more below (start from page 18).
    http://www.cisco.com/web/AP/partners/assets/docs/Day1_03a_Catalyst_Update.pdf
Here's a tip:  Stay away from the 6708-10G because it won't be supported on the new Sup2T.

  • EoS/EoL hardware report problem on LMS 3.2 RME 4.3.1

    Hi,
Trying to run EoS/EoL RME reports for the first time and having problems. I have applied latest patch for CSCte717641 and this seems to have made things a little better. Originally the hardware report simply failed, but now it seems to run, but never finish. To avoid any download problems, I have manually downloaded both the EOX_SOFTWARE.ZIP and the PSIRT_EOX_OFFLINE.txt, which I have placed into the "NMSRoot\rme\jobs\inventory\reports\EOX_PSIRT\local_xml" folder. The PSIRT file has been un-compressed and put in as .txt and the EOX file has been left as a .zip. Now the report starts running, I can see it creating a temp folder in the above folder and it seems to place two files in there eos_card and eos_device, but then it appears to delete the temp folder and the job just sits at running?
    Any advice would be appreciated

This is from the time I ran the report.

  • LMS 4.0 and EoS/EoL Hardware report not working..

    Hi guys,
our LMS server has proxy access to the internet but running a EoS/EoL hardware report results in:-
No data available in the report. The problem could be any one of the following:
    1. No EoS/EoL hardware data available in the LMS database for the selected device(s).
    2. PSIRT/EOX system job might not have run, or might have failed.
    3. You might have entered the wrong cisco.com credentials.
I tried doing it manually by downloading the psirt_eox_offline.txt to the relevant directory and changing the EoS/ EoL configuration to 'local server' on our LMS server but I still get the above message.
I know for a fact we are running devices that have recently been announced by cisco as going EoL and or EoS eg 3750 switches and 2800 series routers so I was expecting to see something in the report.
How can I get this working successfully?
    Thanks in advance
    Trevor

    Problem is now fixed.
I disabled 'use proxy server' and its now working.

  • EOS/EOL

I have read today the UC500, BE3000 and any bundle less then 101 users for the BE6000 are all EOL, what is Cisco releasing for the Small business market? Or are they not releasing anything less the the 101 or more users? Because that would fall under the Enterprise. I would hate to use anyone except Cisco for voice, but the 320 is not suitable for 90% of the clients we do.

    Hello,
For UC500s the replacement product is BE6K. There is a 25 user bundle BE6K SKU.
    UC500 EOS/EOL Announcement(with replacement product descriptions):

  • EOS/EOL Listing

Is there a spreadsheet that contain a compilation of all the EOS/EOL announcements that are sent out that would include the EOS date, the EOL date and a recommended replacement.  I need to do an analysis against a clients inventory database to provide them a list of all their EOS/EOL equipment.  I'm looking for a shortcut to having to look each device up individually by the announcements.  Thanks.

Yeah, I know I can go in by each individual component, but I was hoping to avoid that time consuming process.  I would think they'd have one large compiled list of all their announcements that's in a spreadsheet format.  Thanks though.

I can state categorically that the signature updates for these platforms will continue as will software upgrades for some time in the future. They both will support 5.0 and I have not yet started a phase out of signature updates for these platforms. I can not state how long they will be supported, but would feel safe in saying that they will be supported with signature updates for at least the next year and possibly as long as 2 years.
As an example we EOS the 4230 over 2 years ago and still update signatures on it. 5.0 is the first SW upgrade to not support the 4230 platform.

CTP50 this is the smalest shasssiss but it can work only with CTP200 and CTP600, and this solution will not cheap if we need 10 E1 channels.
Could you tell us something about new platform? will Cisco buy some company or buy redy product?

  • Cisco 1921 CCP discovery error username/password

    Hi,
I have some servers here that needed a more stable router than my WNDR3700 with dd-wrt could offer. I have never used the Cisco IOS before and am a gui lover by nature. After reading about the new CCP and its flexability I made the plunge. I have done the initial configuration via a serial connection. I gave the router its basic information and figured out how to turn on HTTP/HTTPS via the IOS. CCP pro is unable to discover the router due to a bad username or password. I entered in 3 different passwords during setup but never a username and password. I thought all I needed to do was to create a new level 15 username and password.
    I found this command
Router(config)# username name privilege 15 secret 0 password
I tried to use the new user but I still couldnt discover the router when I use "show users all" I do not see the created user.
I have been at it for several hours now. I had hoped that with these new ISR gen2 routers I wouldnt need to learn to much of the IOS at once. Is this not the case?

    Hi Dave,
Cisco 1900 Router should be shipped with a default configuration for you to able to discover the router with the IP address 10.10.10.1. However, if you have already changed the default config, the command you are using to configure a username is correct.
Router(config)# username name privilege 15 secret 0 password
You could be seeing an incorrect username password error on Cisco CP if you are missing the below command:
    Router(config)# ip http authentication local
I have just mentioned the mandatory configuration on the router to be able to discover the router on CCP:
Router(config)# username name privilege 15 secret  password
    Router(config)# ip http server
    Router(config)# ip http authentication local
Router(config)# ip http secure-server               <-- for secure connection
    Router(config)# line vty 0 4
    Router(config-line)# login local
    Router(config-line)# transport input telnet ssh
    Router(config-line)# line vty 5 15
    Router(config-line)# login local
    Router(config-line)# transport input all
    Thanks
    Chaitra

  • RME 4.1.1 - PSIRT and EoS/EoL reports authorization failure

    Hello group,
I have RME 4.1.1 installed and I am attempting to generate either a PSIRT or an End Of Sale/End Of Life report. I start the report from RME->Reports->Report Generator and input all the appropriate information (CCO user/pass, email, etc) and then click "Finish". I get the popup that says to get Report Jobs for the status of the report, and as fast as I can navigate to Report Jobs I see that the job failed.
So I check invreports.log and this line stands out in particular:
    [ Fri Oct 01  13:45:38 CDT 2010 ],ERROR,[main],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.inventory.reports.job.JobExecutor,runReport,773,Authorization failure for ajschroedercom.cisco.nm.rmeng.util.NotAuthorizedUserException: ajschroeder
I do have my Ciscoworks server integrated with ACS, so I reregistered my apps with ACS, and restarted ACS and Daemon Manager with no luck, I even applied the patch described in the following doc: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9080
I am confident that I am missing something, but I have no idea what. I have attached my invreports.log
As always, any help would greatly be appreciated,
    AJ Schroeder

This is CSCsm77700 which is fixed in RME 4.2.  I highly recommend you download the upgrade to LMS 3.2 from http://www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals .  However, a patch is available for RME 4.1.1 if you contact TAC.
