Classification of IFLOT & EQUI via CLB2 / CLB1

Hi all,
I've used CLB2 to mass populate & update classifications assigned to functional locations & equipments. This has worked well to date.
However, I am now attempting to improve processing performance. While reviewing available functionality, I noted the availability of CLB1 to generate batch input sessions from the logical filename provided & supports essentially the same input file.
Experimentation proves that this transaction is essentially completely unsuitable for general use any longer since it applies the batch input sessions against transactions CL20 & CL22 which are no longer used.
Assuming I have 800,000 updates to apply, is there a standard mechanism other than CLB2, where I configure additional logical filenames to allow streaming the updates in the background.

Hi Daniel,
Asumming you are trying to update classification data for IS-U type functional locations and devices, you can update classification data for these using ISMW - migration object OBJCLASS. Although I think this object would work for non-ISU FLs and Equipments too.
Wherein, below fields can be defaulted depending if you are updating classification for FL or DEVICES.
HEADER-OBJECT_TYPE = "IFLOT" or "EQUI".
DATA-FIELD = TPLNR or EQUNR
Other structures and fields are self explanatory. But feel free to ask follow up clarification.
ALternately, LSMW also provides for a standard BI object (0130 classification) that may be utilized as well. Although I have not used LSMW object but have used the ISMW OBJCLASS.

Use transaction CL02 , open class in PCL_222_PURO_BOX with class type 300
add characterstic
PCH_COSTING_WGT_DETERM
PCH_COSTING_WGT_A_DETERM
save it.
Now use MM02 and go to classification view , now you would be able to see these characterstic there.

How to get Port Classifications for Logical Switch via scvmm console

Hello All,
We are creating some automation tool based on SCVMM console scripts.
In order to create vm we need to assign port classification based on Virtual Switch and then logical switch. The problem is that I could not find any way to retrieve port classifications assigned to logical switch (Virtual Port tab in SCVMMs logical
switch properties). There is Get-SCLogicalSwitch that return just name, description and some properties. There is also Get-SCUplinkPortProfileSet which returns Uplink tab data of SCVMMs logical switch properties. But no api to retrieve port classifications
for switch. Get-SCPortClassification also doesn't return switch assignments. Any ideas how to get this data?

EMIGALL performance for migration object OBJCLASS

Hi all,
my previous question, was Classification of IFLOT & EQUI via CLB2 / CLB1 & was focused on improving performance of classification of IFLOT & EQUI objects.
Testing EMIGALL for migration object OBJCLASS I am seeing no performance gains between a single thread update & parallel update threads. IE the single thread throughput is reported as ~the same as the parallel threads throughput combined.
I note in the job logs of my various tests;
for a single thread, that no messages are logged between the start & end of the migration.
for parallel threads, that message C4 200 'Class "CLASSNAMEHERE" is locked' appearing many times.
I don't see any unexpected migration errors in ether case.
Are there any insights on how I might improve over all throughput using this method? I cant see any control parameters for this object, nor does the Guideline have much information on OBJCLASS.

Hello Daniel,
Without having much insight into your system and infrastructure details or the volume that you are working with, I suggest for you to try below for performance improvement.
1. Run DB Statistics on functional location and Equipment related tables such as EQUI, IFLOT, ILOA, etc. (these are HLO objects that you are updating by way of classification). Also update classification table such as AUSP. These tables mentioned here as a starting point.
2. Also strongly suggest that a performance trace be done on this job to analyze and identify another table or steps that may be a performance bottleneck and maybe a candidate for DB statistics refresh Or some other corrective action.
3. The locks maybe occurring due to a mass update which is as expected. Perhaps to get by that you may want to use "commit buffering allowed" option for this migration object and set to say a number "10" or "20" to start with and see if it helps better the performance. As you would have noticed, locks will also impact performance.
4. Please also refer to Cookbook for ISUMIG Performance and refer to sections for DEVICE, CONNOBJ and DEVLOC. These are HLO objects for classification and there may be some useful insight in that document too.

I am working on Report to get info on "Reconciliation of serial number"
The business flow is as below: (Transaction MIGO)
1.     Receipt of Gas Cylinder u2013 (Mvt type 501M)
2.     Transfer Cylinder to Production dept.- (Mvt type 311M)
3.     Transfer empty Cylinder to Empty storage location after utilization u2013 (Mvt type 312M)
4.     Empty Cylinder return to Vendor u2013 (Mvt type 502M)
I want to know No. of days between step 1. Gas Cylinder receipt (Mvt 501M) and step 4. Return of empty Cylinder to Vendor (Mvt 502M) based on selection --> Material, Serial No, Vendor, Plant
I have analyzed few Tables:
1. MKPF   ->   (Material movement Dates)
2. MSEG ->   (Plant, Storage location)
3. EQUI    ->   (Equipment, Material and Serial Number link)
But unable to find out link between MSEG and EQUI.... Can you please help me to find out link?
(P.S.: I have checked IQ09 transaction as well but not getting required information.)

Look on the tables OBJK and SER03 . Here you should have the link to EQUI via field OBJK-OBKNR, OBJK-EQUNR and MSEG via fields SER03-OBKNR, SER03-MBLNR, SER03-MJAHR, SER03-ZEILE

In what case, we need to use PI for vendor replication in MM-SUS?

Dear Experts,
In what scenarios, we need to use or configure the PI settings for vendor replication between MM and SUS? The SAP configuration guide for SRM 7.01 mentions about the PI settings for vendor replication from ECC to SUS.
However, we are able to replicate the vendor from ECC to SUS using the program BBPGETVD in SUS client?
In what circumstances, we need to configure the PI settings for vendor replication when we are able to do so in a much simpler way?

Hi Ranjan,
In all circumstances you need to replicate vendors from MM to SUS via PI. BBPGETVD is not the right way to replicate vendors to SUS because the information like vendor class, assignment of this vendor class to an object and the vendor classification cannot be transferred via BBPGETVD.
Hence you will have to use PI. You can try sending a PO from MM to SUS and the PO will fail in SUS with a message like 'Vendor not present in SUS' if you use BBPGETVD.

When we post a sale in WPER we are getting an error saying "Enter Batch XXXXXXXX". I have that article batch managed and I have done the below steps.. but still I am getting this error.
1. Created a Characteristic via CT04 for batch handling in the search strategy with class type "23"table name "MCHA" and field name "CHARG". If you are working with fixed value of batches, define it as the characteristic values or if you have batches creating internally by the system, Put a * in it.
2. Created a class in CL02 with class type "23" and assign this newly created characteristic to it.
3. created a sort rule in CU70 and assign this same characteristic to it and select the ascending or desending check box based upon your choice of "FIFO" or "LIFO".
4. created a new strategy for batch determination while doing different inventory movements. Go to Logistics General  Batch Management  Batch Determination & Batch Check  Strategy Types  Define Inventory Management Strategy Type. Copy the standard one and create one for you and assign the class and sort sequence created above to it and define the number of spilts of batches, should happen, if in case one batch is insufflcient to handle the required movement of stock. maximum it could be 999.
5. created batch search procedure definition. Go to Logistics General  Batch Management  Batch Determination & Batch Check  Batch Search Procedure Definition  Define Inventory Management Search Procedure. Copy the standard one and create one for you and assign the condiiton type created in the step above (strategy) and save it.
6. assigned the class created above to all the relevant article via CL20N.
7. assigned batch search procedure to the relevant movement types. Go to transaction OMCG and assign the mvt type 301, 311 and other relevant movement types.
8. Maintained the condition record for the Batch Search Strategy via MBC1 / MBC2.
9. Activated Batch classification for goods movements via OMCV as per choice.
10. Thru WE19 posted one WPUBON
11. Still I am getting the error " enter batch"

Retrieve batch from serial number in MIGO transaction

Dear all Gurus,
My company already implement ECC6.0 with IS-Retail function. And I have some concern that my company would like to activate batch for control the stock at DC and Store level and some articles also control serial number.
When I would like to move the stock (ex. stock transfer between storage location MVT 311) in sap system I need to specify the batch first and specify serial number later. But in the physical stock what we know is serial number. So would it be possible to specify serial number first and let's the system to find out batch from serial number?
And one concern it's possible that serial numbers that I select maybe have different batch number.
Ex. Serial Number 1 belong to batch A
      Serial Number 2 belong to batch B
      Serial Number 3 belong to batch B
When posting in MIGO transaction it's should to split in 2 line
First line Mat xxx      Qty 1 Batch A Serial Number 1
Second line Mat xxx Qty 2 Batch B Serial Number 2, 3
Have anyone already have some case like this? Please help to suggest possible solution.

I have some experience in Batch Management with IS Retail ECC 6. I believe their is a valid solution to it.
coming to your query of way to aviod manually assignment of batches and spliting it for the site to site stock transfer via mvt type 301 or 311.
we need to create Batch Search Strategy and Sort Rule for it. The steps to do it as follows.

Updating the Customer & Material Tax Classification via LSMW only

We need to update the Customer and Material Tax Classification via LSMW only, in such a way that on the updation of the Tax classifications the Customer Master and the Material Master should be updated automatically.
Please let me know if anyone has done the same also it would be really helpful if you can provide me the details.

It's not clear your question to me.
Do you want to update the Tax classification in the customer master & Material master?
I did same, but with 2 different LSMW"s as there is not link between customer master & Material master.
To update customer tax classification -
In that you have to feed relevant customer numbers with sales areas & relevant tax classification for one LSMW.
To update Material tax classification -
In that you have to feed relevant material numbers with sales areas & relevant tax classification for different LSMW.

Multiple classification via CIF

Is it possible to transfer multiple class assignment for material via CIF?
I get the warning. Could I bend it?

Diagnosis
No unique class assignment could be determined.
System Response
As SAP APO currently supports only simple classification for the CDP (Characteristics Dependent Planning) classification system, no material class will be transferred for this material.
If you have set the ERP classification system as the classification system in SAP APO you can ignore this message.
Procedure
Ensure that all classes used in the material master have the same name. If necessary, change the names.

I've seen this problem before. We use block planning and we need to setup 2 characteristics. We had to create one in ECC and CIF it over the other one we created directly in APO. I have yet to see a solution to this problem.

Classification view creation via LSMW for Material master

Hi,
We are planning to have an LSMW for creation of material master along with classification view for configurable materials.
Though we see a flag to indicate classification view - XEIC1 Indicator: take Classification view into account
We do not see a structure where in we can pass all the characteristics and the corresponding values.
Is this something possible only with BAPIs such as -> BAPI_OBJCL_CREATE after creation of other view for that material.

However, we were intending to use a single LSMW for creation of all views of material master including classification view. Right now we are using Program RMDATIND as direct input method in LSMW.
Please let me know if there is a way to use single LSMW for creation of all views of material master.

Search via classification in CV04N returns incorrect documents

When doing a search in SAP DMS CV04N using classification, and incorrect list of DIRs return. The search criteria is for one signle value, but it returns documents that does not form part of the search criteria.
Any suggestion as to what the problem can be?

2. In define Charectristics u need to maintain Class type 017, DMS, in the field Restrict.
3. Check whether u set class and class type for perticular document type, in tc- DC10, basic data screen.

Full Equi address data by Address number via RFC

Hi, I'm programming in an SAP ERP system, and try to get some equipment releated information from a partner IS-U system. In particular I would like to get an equipments full address data from the IS-U system. Now, I found the BAPI with function module BAPI_EQUI_GETDETAIL which already provides me with the address number of the equi in IS-U, but so far no luck to find some RFC enabled function module (or the like) to get the full address for this address number. On the other hand, this equi is bult into a functional location. But the situation is similar here: I can make it to an address number of that functional location, but did not find a way to translate that adress number to the full address date. Somebody around who knows [a|the] solution for this problem? My other way would be to write an RFC enabled function module myself, but I would be happy not to need to... Thanks, kind regards, Holger

Hi Holger,
You can try ADDRESS_GET_DATA, it's RFC enabled and part of the Basis component (so should be in your IS-U system).
However, the prefix of the description reads 'obsolete', so I'm assuming there's a replacement for it out there somewhere.

USMM - License classification via reference user

Hello all,
I am trying to group users for licensing by using a reference user rather than User Group for authorizations.
I am following the instructions in the Help section, however, I do not have the option for "Extended List" and the Reference User is not appearing in the "Ref. User" field I added when I choose "User Classification".

We do not have CUA implemented. Is that what is causing this error?
I would like to figure out a way to group users by their work area, because unfortunately this USMM report will not group users by "User Group", only "User Group for Authorizations" which does not meet our requirements.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The documentation states that you cannot classify users by reference users?!
Reference users are actually comparable to composite roles and composite profiles in one entity, which you can assign to the user which can logon. They the user has both their own authorizations and those of the reference user.

Finding DMS documents via classification values

Hi,
I have a list of characteristic values, from which i need to find the DMS documents which use that characteristic, and have those values.
I have used table AUSP, but when i find that characteristic, the value fields are empty, therefore i don't find anything.
Could someone please help by either telling me which tables to check in order to find these values, or if there is a function module which allows you to enter a characteristic value, and find all documents using that value.
