ClassNotFoundException only on Mac OS9

I have an applet that's been up and running for a while, and it works for PC users and Mac OSX. However, on OS9 I get this error message when trying to access it from IE:

Java webstart on Mac OS9.2

Hi I have a java webstart application that uploads files to my website, I now have 2 people that want to upload to my site that are running mac OS9.2.
They both seem to be having the same problem as that the java application just does not start. They both have Mac OS runtime for Java 2.2.5 installed
Can someone give me some clues as to what may be going wrong and where to look on a mac as I have never owned one and have no idea.

If you need anything other than 1.1.8, your only option is to ditch 9.2 (which is 5+ years old at this stage!) and get OS X

Hi Ellen;
Safari was only released for OS X 10.2 or newer. If makes use of features that only became available at that level of the operating system. I don't believe anyone has ever even tried to make it avaiable for OS 9.
Why do you need Safari?
If you need is great enough, you might have to migrate to OS X.

A bit later I discovered that Photo Stream was not working on my Windows 7 PC either. If I opened the iCloud control panel and put a check in the box to turn on Photo Stream, and then closed and reopened the control panel, the check mark was gone again. Also, nothing happened when I clicked on the options button beside the Photo Stream check box. I already had version 2 of the iCloud control panel so I could not upgrade further.
I ended up uninstalling the iCloud control panel, rebooting, downloading a fresh copy from Apple, and reinstalling it. This worked and I now have photo stream working on my Windows 7 system as well.

You don't need separate iCloud accounts if you want to simply sync unique content to each device using iTunes. I have three iDevices using one ID and one iTunes library and each device has it's own content on it. You need to set up the sync configuration for each device. This is what I recommend.
First turn off auto sync in iTunes. Launch iTunes on the Mac and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Click OK and then quit iTunes.
Connect one of your devices to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading.
Click on a tab in iTunes - Apps for instance.
Click on the Apps that you want to sync to that device.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Follow the same procedure for all of the other tabs in iTunes ..... Music, Photos, Movies and so on.
After you have finished making all of your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
When you are done, eject the first device and do the same thing with the other device. iTunes will now remember the sync configuration on each device.
You can change that configuration any time that you like by following the steps outlined above.
If you want to continue to auto sync, turn it back on in the iTunes preferences as described above.

Is this how the formatting issue works? I'm looking to buy an iPod for a friend who (I think) has PC.....
Since I'm a mac person, I want to buy the gift, load some music on, and ship it off to the lucky recipient....but if they have a PC , will it be recongnized once it's plugged in?

Okay, unless you restore your iPod while you're on the Mac, I believe it will still be formatted for a PC.
(You will not need to restore the iPod for transferring music to it on a Mac unless you want to upgrade the iPod's firmware on a Mac computer, then it will have to be Mac-formatted).
You see, when you recieve an iPod, it is shipped to you as a Windows-formatted iPod, probably since the majority of the population has PCs, and also, PC-formatted iPods are compatible for music transfer for a Mac also.
Does that make sense?

You will need to delete the keyboard from the other Mac. Simply disconnecting it leaves it still paired with the first Mac.

my girl friend got a iMac running 10.5.4, I have a MacBook running 10.4.11. We got our ADSL connection now running, and use a ZyXEL Prestige Router to connect to the internet. The problem is that only ONE Mac can connect, which is a no-go as we often need to access the internet at the same time (working from home). I tried to put the DHCP off in the router and have it on in the Macs, didn't work, on in the router and off in the Macs, didn't work.
I read the forums but didn't find any help to my problem, and would be thankful if someone is able to help us out.

Well, I hooked up the Airport Express to the ZyXEL and turned off the WLAN off the ZyXEL, and it works fine, both Macs can connect and they don't disconnect every 30 minutes. However, to preserve some energy and possibly to get rid of the ZyXEL, does anyone know if there's a ASDL plug in which I can plug a ethernet cable in so that it goes directly from Plug to Airport?

I don't think there's a way to share a calendar over a local network, but if you have your own non-.Mac webspace on the Internet, you can publish an iCal calendar to it rather than .Mac. To do this, open iCal and select Publish from the Calendar menu. In the dialog box that pops up, change the Publish On drop-down menu to "a private server" and put in whatever your password is to access the server.

Stratup manager shows only the Mac drive

I installed windows XP sp2 on my MacBook (running Leopard latest update)
The windows drive system file is FAT32
I can boot using windows only by choosing restart to windows from the Mac startup disk
But when pressing the option key while turning on the machine
only the Mac drive appears in the startup manager, no windows icon appear
I solved the problem just for now using rEFIT

I've read that converting the Windows partition to NTFS will solve the problem
but i want to keep it as FAT32 to be able to transfer files from MAc partition to win partition
is there is any news when apple is going to provide a fix or update to solve this issue?

well, Actually it is mentioned in the refit website that there are two commands for the startup option
./enable-always.sh
./enable.sh
the first one will make refit shows every time you startup your computer
the second command will make it accessible only through the option key
I tried to use the second command
but it always apear in the startup
if you went to the startup disk from Mac Os x and selected Mac os x as the default operating system, the refit menu will disappear from the startup
you can enable it again through the 2 above mentioned commands
If you are updating windows, so windows will boot automatically every restart during the update
