CLD: Do you have to create the GUI from scratch?

I'm a little confused, because the ATM Machine example instructions seem to imply you're supposed to create the front panel from scratch. It also gave specifications on the Account.txt file.
However, some posts on this board have led me to believe that a GUI (and even data files) are provided for you ahead of time.
For people who have actually taken the exam: do I need to practice throwing the GUI together when I run through the practice exams, or should I be copying over the front panel from the solution?
Thanks.

In your exam packet, a USB stick will be provided. The USB stick will have the following:
A folder hierarchy consisting of two folders: SubVIs and Controls. You must use the folder hierarchy as provided and save your work in these folders.
The main VI with a fully developed front panel and the associated typedefs saved in the Controls folder. You must utilize the front panel as given. Note: You will have fill in the tips/description for the Controls, the VI documentation and develop a simple icon.
A data file (.csv or ini) file needed for the application
We are currently in the process of updating the sample exams to reflect this change. The updated samples will be available in the first week of July.

  • I am trying to create postcards in the postcard template, the "Moving Postcard" to be exact.  Do I really have to create all 4 from scratch?

This is just about to cause a major rift between my husband and I!  I was talked into getting an iMac after being raised on a PC and I have to tell you I'm not liking this one bit!  Please someone tell me that I don't have to try to make all 4 of these postcards look the same?  Why will this iMac not apply the changes from one to all 4?  Or is there something I'm missing?
    Thanks for any help provided!

You make one, group it and option shift drag the design to the other locations.
There is virtually no software that multiplies the design out for you automatically.
Business Card software does this, but is pretty pointless IMHO as a commercial printer doesn't want you to do it.
What you want is just for people printing out multiple copies on their desktop inkjets.

  • HT204135 what do you do if apple responds that the driver is unavailable. The problem is even if you have manually uploaded the drivers from the epson website, apple seems to need to look for them and if it doesn't work then you are stuck

I am trying to install an epson bx635fwd.
Connecting to the printer is fine and using the usb cable and network seems to work OK. The problem comes when I try and find the printer.
It pops up as a nearby printer but apple tries to look for the softwars on its own website. It then tells me this is unavailable.
I go to the epson website and upload the latest drivers.
When I try again, in system preferences, the same thing happens and I get a message that the software is unavailable from the apple website....etc..etc.
I am using 10.7 on a 24 inch imac, fully updated.
    help please

When you select to add the printer, don't select the entry shown under Nearby Printers. Instead, select Add Printer or Scanner and from the new window that appears, select the Epson. If the Print Using menu does not change to the already installed driver and the search window appears, sometimes you have the option to skip this search and manually add the printer via the Print Using menu. If you are not given this option then trash the contents of the Epson folder in HD > Library > Printers. Then unplug the printers USB cable and reconnect. This should prompt the Mac to add the printer automatically and go looking for the driver which is available from Apple.

  • My ATV will no longer stay connected to WiFi. Every time I want to use it I have to setup the WiFi from scratch!!!

My ATV will no longer stay connected to my home WiFi network. Every single time I want to use it I need to set up WiFi from scratch all over again. I'm considering dumping it as my Roku box has no issues. I'm an Apple loyalist though and want the ATV for playing my large music collection.
    Any suggestions?

    It's a 1G ATV, 160Gig.
The wireless is an Access Point w/WPA encryption and all DHCP is done by a remote wired router in a closet. Resetting each has had no effect on it. I don't see a setting anywhere on my ATV that I can change to turn off periodic standby mode.
I actually replaced an Airport Extreme w/ this D Link AP & it's worked great for every other device. I had the exact same issue with the Airport Extreme although it seems like after the latest ATV SW upgrade, it does it every day. Previously it would only do it occasionally.

  • [CLD] When do you have to copy the project to disk

As I am in the last 10 days before I take my first CLD Exam I was wondering if anyone knows when you have to copy the Exam project to disk?  I am hoping it could be when the proctor says time up.

This is pure hearsay since it has been a long time since I took the CLD.  But I'm pretty sure they do not consider the copying of the files as part of the exam.  So it is done once time is up.  That's how it went for me.  Last I heard, it is still that way.
The CLD is not exactly easy, but it is not nearly as bad as a lot of people make it out to me.  Even my boss passed and he didn't even finish.  A good friend of mine passed even though he hadn't even touched LabVIEW for at least a year (I mentored him A LOT during the previous year).
If you are worried about losing time due to copying of files, then I'd say you need to practice more.

  • You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software.??

I have recently been having issues signing into my Apple ID and decided to go in and update my email and change my password.
Since changing my email and password I have been unable to update any of my apps. I receive this error message when trying to update, "You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software."
I have looked into other forums and communities for a solution to this issue but from what I have read iTunes/Apple has yet to figure out a solution.
I have also read that the cause of this issue can be linked to two things.
One, is if you have multiple accounts on one computer. I only have one iTunes account/ Apple ID on this computer. This is my personal laptop and no one else has ever loaded on another account.
The second cause is linked to the country to which the apps were downloaded in. My computer and Apple ID were both created in the US, however 9 months ago I moved to New Zealand on a one year work holiday visa. Since living in New Zealand for the past 9 months I have been buying and updating apps, it wasn't until today when I received this error message.
I would really like to find a solution to this problem, but at the very least I would like to know what exactly caused this issue so that others may hopefully steer clear.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Cheers.

I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

As you already knew, no, you cannot create a new iCloud account from anything but the above devices.

  • Do you have to create SPN before you install Sharepoint 2013 Server?

    Hello Community
After installing WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server on it, I
created SPN's for the SQL Server and domain user.
While creating the web application I ran across some information
that says if you use Kerberos Authentication you have to setup the SPN's
in AD DS before you install Sharepoint 2013 Server.
That doesn't make sense to me because it might be possible that
SPN's may be needed to be created throughout the lifetime of the
Sharepoint farm which could be forever.
So the question is, is it true that you can only use Kerberos
Authentication if you created the SPN's in AD DS first?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

You can create it after-the-fact, you just may have access issues until it is created and the user account running the pool is logged off and back on again. Right, it has nothing to do with the installation status of SharePoint.

  • If you drop a MV log then do you have to recreate the MV?

If you drop a MV log then do you have to recreate the MV in order for the MV to work again. i.e.
-- I create MV log and MV (10 second refresh) on 2 different DB machines
-- I drop the MV Log
-- MV will not get refreshed
-- I recreate the MV log
Now will the MV get refreshed as usual or do I have to recreate it?

You have to use COMPLETE refresh method for all MV that depend on table where you drop and create MV log.
    BEGIN
    dbms_mview.refresh(list => 'SCHEMA.MV_NAME',method => 'C');
    END;
    /replace SCHEMA.MV_NAME with your values.

  • Why did you have to change the layout of Firefox?

I would like to know why you have gone and changed the layout of Firefox?
I am still on Fx 3.6.18 because quite frankly 5.0.1 looks horrible.
Why did you have to change everything and move things around. Why couldn't you have given us the same layout as 3.6.18 but with these new upgrades.
I will never download Fx5. 3.6 was perfect.
Also how can I contact Fx without upgrading?

Sorry the old Feedback page - Hendrix - used with older versions of Firefox was disabled near the end of 2010.
In Firefox 4+ versions there's a Help > Submit Feedback... menu item which leads here: http://input.mozilla.com/en-US/feedback <br />
But you can't submit feedback there with an older version of Firefox, currently you need Firefox 5.0 or higher.
The decision to change the GUI was made by Mozilla collectively, not by a small group of developers or by one person. If you put your efforts toward customizing Firefox to suit your tastes, it would be a lot more productive than trying to find out who to blame and where to complain about the changes made to Firefox. Geez dude, it ain't the end of the world. It's only a web browser, which can be easily modified to make it look like you thing it should look.

I need to use code in C in a LabVIEW application, but I have problems creating the file .lbs that I have to include in the CIN node. I can do the file .c well, but I can't generate the file .lbs. I'm using CVI for doing the .c file. Could someone tell me the steps I have to do exactly?

I think you should check that the FTP download is configured right in
your client/web browser and you have no firewall problems. The file
    unzips just fine here.

  • Carbon Copy Cloner:  do you have to wipe the target drive

From reading the instructions that come with the download of CCC, it seems that when you clone your Applications drive to another drive (as backup), you are essentially reformatting that 2nd drive to be a copy of the first, right?
So when you use CCC, you must have a drive dedicated to becoming the clone? You would lose all data on the target drive? Correct?
If so, it seems to make sense to get a modest hard drive just to hold a clone of the cleanly reinstalled system.
I still am not clear on how to create a bootable clone on a drive, and how to restore that clone. Do you have to reinstall the operating system (and the various application files that also are installed at that time) and then somehow transfer the clone back to the original drive. Or somehow does the clone make it unnecessary to reinstall the operating system before moving the cloned copy of the os back to the Apps drive.
Whew, that's a tangled up understanding so if anyone can unravel this mess itd be great.
Also, is CCC better than making disk images with Disk Utility?

    Jon:
Some of what I say will be repeating some of what has already been posted by way of giving a comprehensive response.
The two most popular and powerful utilities for backup/cloning are SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner. Both have their supporters. Both are effective and relatively easy to use. The latest version of CCC is more powerful, but, I think, SD is easier to use. One of these is the first element in making a clone.
SuperDuper will erase the Destination drive before cloning. CCC gives you an option. You really want it erased, unless you are doing cumulative (SmartUpdates in SD) updates, or you will end up with a jumble of stuff. Both will do cumulative updates. CCC allows you to drill down to a single folder. SD allows you to clone the entire HDD, or just the Users Folder. Both make bootable clones, diskimages, compressed read only disk images.
You need an external firewire Hard Disk Drive. Get the largest you can afford and partition it. Since PPC Macs will not boot from USB devices, firewire is important. There are a lot of HDDs out there, some are sexy looking, some have one touch backup etc. The most important feature in a firewire HDD is that it should have the more reliable Oxford 911+ chipset. This is the part that interfaces the Hard Disk Drive with the computer. When it goes, and it does go on many of these drives after the warranty has run out, the drive itself may still be functional but the computer can't see it. Here is a list of HDDs from OWC that have the Oxford 911+ chipset.
You need to format the new HDD Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and, if it is larger than you need for backup, partition it. Dr. Smoke's FAQ Backup and Recovery has excellent tips on backing up, and has a suggested scheme for partitioning your new external FW HDD. If you need step-by-step directions for partitioning and formatting, please post back and ask.
Finally, once you have chosen your partition scheme, adjusting or deleting partitions would destroy all data on the drive except you use third party software.
Cloning is an excellent way of backing up as it not only gives you a backup of your data and total installation, but it gives you an emergency boot drive as well as a drive from which you can boot to run diagnostics and repairs on your internal HDD.
Please do post back with further questions or comments.
    Cheers

  • Can you use color splash on a photo that was edited in black and white or do you have to mask the photo before editing it in black and white?

can you use color splash on a photo that was edited in black and white or do you have to mask the photo before editing it in black and white?

I think you are asking whether it makes an difference whether you create the mask before or after you edit the black & white version. The answer is that since the color version and the b&w version are on different layers (as seen here), it makes no difference when you edit the b&w version.
Also consider another technique that separates the color element in the image. Here, the area surrounding the color image is a line interpretation of the scene, similar to a Tone Line Conversion, a technique that was created with film many years ago.  (I am so old,  I still remember how it was done.) This is how to get the result similar to the one shown above but with a line illustration created in Photoshop replacing the b&w layer version:
    1. Open an image. This technique is more successful if the image you select has many clearly defined edges.
    2. Make a duplicate layer. (Cmd+J). It becomes Layer 1
    3. With Layer 1 chosen, go to Filter>Blur>Smart Blur. Set the Quality to High and the Mode to Edge Only. The default settings are Radius 3.0, Threshold 25.0. To increase the amount of detail in the line conversion, raise the Radius setting. Use the white-on-black illustration within Smart Blur as a guide. Then click OK.
    4. The line illustration will appear as white lines in a black background. To change this to black-on-white, choose Image>Adjustments>Invert.
    5. Insert a new layer below Layer 1. It will serve as the background for the line illustration. To do this, hold down the Command key while clicking on the New Layer symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel. It is the second symbol from the right. It will become Layer 2.
    6. Fill this new layer with a light color. To do this, click on the Foreground Color symbol in the Tools section. It will open the Color Picker. Choose a light color and click OK.
    7. Choose Edit>Fill. Use: Foreground Color.  Mode: Normal. Opacity: 100% and click OK. Layer 2 will fill with the color. Although it will not appear in the image because Layer 1 is above it, a quick check of the Layers panel will confirm that the color you chose has filled Layer 2.
    8. Remove the white area from in Layer 1. Go to Layer 1. Choose the Magic Wand tool. Uncheck the Contiguous box in the Options Bar and click in a white area of the image. Next, click the Delete key.  Choose Select>Deselect to remove the marching ants.
    9. (Optional)  You may now change the line illustration in Layer 1 from black to a dark color compatible with the color in Layer 2. To choose the color, click on the Foreground Color symbol in the Tools section. It will open the Color Picker. Choose a suitable dark color and click OK. While in Layer 1, click the first symbol next to the word  Lock:  in the Layers panel above Layer 1. This will prevent the dark color from appearing in the blank area of Layer 1. Choose Edit>Fill. Use: Foreground Color.  Mode: Normal. Opacity: 100% and click OK. The black lines will change to the dark color you chose.
    10. Combine Layers1 and 2: While in Layer 1, choose Layer>Merge Down. The layers are combined into a single layer called Layer 2.
    11.  Add a black mask to Layer 2 by clicking on the Mask symbol at the bottom of the Layers panel. It is the symbol to the right of the fx symbol. Where you would like full color objects to appear within the line rendition, paint in white on the black mask with a brush set to either soft-edge or hard-edge as the illustration and your taste dictate.

  • I have a regular service that cleans up my computer. We have had to remove the latest version three times because of compatibility issues. To report issues you have to download the latest version which appears to be the problem.

Mozilla sometimes goes a head and loads the new version and we do not get it in time. We may switch to Explorer to avoid continuing problems. Contact iYogi or McAfee for clearer explaination.

If the light will not turn on the TC is dead. No matter that the hard disk is running.. it should only run at start up or when it is accessed not constantly.. that means the board in the TC has failed. Apple do not repair them.. They will replace it under warranty or applecare.
If you have gone over the 12month warranty it will still be covered if you have applecare on any computer or an Apple TV. In fact the cost of the apple TV plus apple care is still cheaper than buying a new TC.. so it is a route some people are taking.. certainly depends.. in some places like Europe or Australia now, there is a recognition that statutory warranty must be longer on a product that is premium to the market. 12months is not good enough. Apple will sometimes listen.
They might be fixable but I do not know how.
