Cleaning the iPhone screen
I just got my first iPhone and am having a blast setting it up and getting things rolling. I couldn't find anything in the search about this except how to clean the screen protectors [which I don't have yet]. So how is the best way to clean the screen?

Julian, the link you provided to the manual is actually a link to an older version of the User Guide, the one for the Original iPhone (thus, it mentions the cleaning cloth as being included, along with the dock).

In that current manual, your original page reference (p.46, +before you edited your post+ ) was correct.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue. -

For my computer LCD screen I bought screen cleaning fluid and I use it with a lint-free cloth.

Try to Restore on different computer with current iTunes. If still problem after Restore, then make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution.

*Microfiber cloth* works great, it requires only a light touch and cleans off all the fingerprints quickly and easily.
I tried eye glass cleaning cloth, liquid cleaner and tissues. The microfiber is 100 times better.Absolute best way to clean the iPad screen is dry, with the 3M Scotch Brite High Performance Cleaning Cloth. The cloth costs $3-4, but it is a woven microfiber that pulls fingerprints and dust off like nothing else. I've tried a number of different cloths, including those that came with my HD TV, etc. The 3M flat makes 'em feel like using a paper towel (NOT recommended...). And when it gets dirty? Toss it in the washing machine.
I actually went and bought a couple spares - one for the house, one for my briefcase, and one for the office - just so I'd always have the right cloth handy. The iPad is a great device; I'd prefer it not be a great fingerprint display as well. -

If you mean the apps on your homescreen I dont believe there is a way to make them bigger. As far as my experience goes in apple products I have not seem a way to enlarge the icons on your iphone screen.. I hope this help and best of luck.

Is the iPhone screen contrast adjustable?
Is the iPhone screen contrast adjustable? I'm not talking about brightness. My screen shows shadowy horizontal (in portrait mode) stripes. I can still read the screen, but it is generally washed out, with the prominent stripes. Playing with the brightness doesn't help much.
I opted to send mine (well my wifes) in, in the past.
Call 1-800-MY-IPHONE
Tell them the problem.
They will ship you a box (prepaid to send back) with all the materials needed to ship back.
You will be told to take the SIM card out (they will even send paperclip to help). Then pack up (they even send tape) and send back.
You can put your SIM into any other phone that uses SIM cards and use it while yours is getting fixed/replaced.
Once they get it, it is like a 1 day turn around. Ship, repair/replace, ship back took me just 3 days. Your experience may vary.
Be sure to really explain the issue. I would even include a note in the box back explaining it in case the service notes the tech writes are not clear enough.

I'm having exact same problem. I was installing the latest ios7 update (to fix some Facetime bug that I don't have) and this happened. I noticed in some other posts on similar problem to hold down the sleep and on buttons at the same time and tried that. No change. Then I plugged it into my laptop and it said it was in recovery mode. I'm now in the process of restoring the software.
I really hope I haven't lost all my contacts, notes, and photos.
