ClickAfter of a CheckBox, UserDataSource not what it should be ?
Hi,
I'm experiencing strange behavior with the event ClickAfter of a CheckBox.
When I check it and debug into the event, the oDataSource (User Data Source) for this CheckBox reports "N" and when I uncheck the CheckBox, it reports "Y" ??? I'm very confused and do not know what I have to do to get into the event when I check the CheckBox and having the User Data Source reflecting what I do on the UI !

don't catch Click Event but instead use ItemPressed After. You can *picture* the click event as a mouse event and the pressed as the item event.

Airport extreme throughput not what it should be!
I have an airport extreme base station distributing IP addresses as a router and connected to a cable modem. My tests are with my Powerbook G4 Ti 1 GHz that only has 802.11b and not g. The extreme is set up for the b/g setting but I think I tested it with just b and got the same results. Basically, when I connect direct to the ethernet side of the base station I get about 5.6 mbps throughput using the test at http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ But when I connect wirelessly I only get about 2.7 mbps. I took my airport express out of the picture so this is just direct to the extreme.
When I was at my sister's house with her Linksys router I got about 4.6 with a similar raw cable speed. So it seems as though the airport extreme is losing quite a bit of throughput from what it should be. I am running the latest firmware on the extreme and the Powerbook has all the latest also, but the throughput has always been about this. Anybody have any comments on this, or tips to improve it? I tried turning off IPV6 and it improved slightly but not significantly.
Powerbook Ti 1G Mac OS X (10.4.4)There's a discrepancy between the OS and the DVD manufacturer in the way capacity is measured on the media.
The media manufacturer (much like a hard drive manufacturer) uses a decimal measurement, so they are going to consider a gigabyte to be 1,000,000,000 bytes. (1000 x 1000 x 1000). So, your 4.7GB DVD is 47 billion bytes. (47,000,000,000 bytes.)
However, the OS is going to consider a gigabyte to be slightly more, because its measurements are in binary. To the OS, a gigabyte is 1,073,741,824 bytes. (1024 x 1024 x 1024). In this case, your 4.7GB DVD looks like 4.37GB.
The OS will only allow you to burn as much as it can recognize as being available space, which would be about 4.3GB. -
BT infinity speed not what it should be
Hey everyone I've had bt infinity now for about 5 weeks and havn't had any real problems, my speeds should be 40mbps down and 10mbps up, but for some reason lately my download speed has dropped to about 12/13 mbps peak and 20/23 off peak, i've called bt customer services who have said everything is fine and are in my opinion fobbing me off.
Can any one advise me what to do, i've done the usual restart of the router, clearing the cache from my devices so speed tests are faster, and tried bot wired and wireless connections.

After Migration Assistant my Admin name is not what it should be.
I have just purchased a new iMac and have run Migration Assistant to recover my old user data from Time Machine on an external hard drive.
No apparent problems until I go to do something which requires the Administrator's username/password.
The username it comes up with is not the correct one.
For example it defaults to "User Name" when it should be "username"
Is there a simple way of amending this so that I don't have to manually do it each time.
I currently have one profile on the new Mac but I did delete the one I originally created for the new Mac with the old profile from the old Mac. Have I just confused myself there?What you did won't help you because your old account that you migrated is tied to your old username. You either need to re-migrate the old account without changing its name or you have to change the username of your current account back to the original username or you must change the ownership and permissions of everything in your migrated Home folder to the new one. So here you go for doing the latter:
1. Open the Terminal application in your Utlities folder.
2. At the prompt enter the following:
sudo chown -R yourusername:staff /Users/yourusername
Press RETURN. You will be asked to enter your admin password which will not be echoed. Substitute your actual new username for the two instances of "yourusername" in the above command line. -
Broadband download speeds not what they should be
Hello all I'm having a problem with my pc download speed when I proform a speed test using either speed checker or the bt speed check all is okay with tempeh connection incoming and I should be receiving 9.25 mb/s down and 1mb/s down but all all pcs including laptops on either wireless or Ethernet cannot exceed 1.2 mb/s on downloads I have plugged into the test port on the first point but alas the same 1.2 peak speed I'm at a lose end at the moment on wether it's the external line that goes to the first point need upgrading of the first point isn't correctly working any help would be fantastic

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

When I clear my history, Firefox clears my browsing and download history even though this checkbox is not checked. It didn't use to do this. What can I do to fix this? I believe the problem started with the last Firefox update.
Do you mean the "Form autocomplete" feature?

I noticed that Find My iPhone on iCloud hasn't worked since iOS 8 came out. Whenever I try to use it, it always says "All Devices Offline." This is regardless of whether I am in a good Wi-Fi zone or not. I like to use Find My iPhone to remotely track my battery charging status whenever my phone is charging in a different room. That's been really handy, which is why I really need to get this fixed. No matter what computer I use, the problem is always the same.
My device uses iOS 7. My question is: do I need to upgrade my device? If not, what should I do? I do not wish to upgrade my device, especially considering the bad things I've heard about iOS 8.
Feedback would be welcome ASAP.You don't need to update to iOS 8 to use Find My iPhone. If you haven't already tried, go to Settings>iCloud>Find My iPhone and turn it off, then reset your phone (hold the sleep/wake and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release). After it restarts, turn Find My iPhone back on and see if it works properly now.

Apple, please fix this bug. Sending scanned images to "Pictures" is not what I want nor what I was able to do in every previous operation system. I want to save all scanned items in a specific folder - NOT "PICTURES" Please fix this bug NOW!

My ipod nano 6th gen fell out of my pocket and the screen cracked badly, is there any coverage for this under warranty? I just bought it a month ago. If not what are the options for getting it fixed? It is pretty frustrating, it fell from about 3 feet out of my pocket and now looks like it was beaten by a hammer.

That's where I would begin, too, with
Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

I have connected a new Time Capsule to a DSL modem using an ethernet cable . The modem is working fine and connected fine. But the Time Capsule doesnt seem to be talking to the modem. If I click the internet Icon in Airport Utility it shows Disconnected.If I click the Time Capsule icon and go to the internet tab it shows Connect using PPPoE. Is that what it should be? In the box below there is place for an account name and password. DO I need to filll these out and if so what do I put there--information about the Time Capsule of informationabout the Modem? And where do I find the information.
Or am I completely on the wrong track.Thanks. The modem is a Speedtouch ST585 v6. How do I know whether it is in adsl bridge? Also this is a modem-***-router. Does that make a difference?
If you did not put it in bridge then it is not in bridge..
Connect a computer directly to the modem.. open the browser to either 192.168.1.254 or 10.0.0.138 (if neither of those work you will have to check the IP address your ISP has set).
BTW who is your ISP and do they allow PPPoE.. for instance most ISP in UK do not use pppoe so you have no choice but to run the 585 as a router. In which case bridge the TC
Anyway.. open the setup configuration in the Thomson and select a template that says bridge.. run through the wizard and it will then bridge the modem.
And I am using Airport Utility 6.0. How do I get the earlier version?
By reading the site link I just gave you.. downloading the utility and running it on your computer. Or simply google to 5.6 lion airport utility... that is the way I find things when I don't have the link memorised.
Finally, AIrport Utility shows a number in a red dot next to the time capsule icon, currently 2. What is that for? What does it tell us?
Firstly download the useful utility.. but the dots tell you something is wrong and preventing the TC from working.. if you open the utility it should tell you what the errors mean.. I cannot tell you what they are, but it is likely to be no internet connection and pppoe has failed. -
Is it possible to have two (or more) different icloud mail accounts (not alias) under the same apple id? If not what is you best advice for all family members to have their own e-mail and still share the purchases under the same apple id. Thanks

There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that. You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.

If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream

If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important. -
