Client cookies from 10g Portal

Hello,
Is it possible to set persistent cookies by storing it on user's local hard drive from within Portal? I use a PL/SQL generated portal page to redirect to another web application outside Portal environment. Within this PL/SQL procedure, some cookies are created using owa_cookie.send procedure. But, when redirected to the other web application (same domain), all the cookies are lost. What is the ideal way to achieve this function?
Please help.
Thanks
Sandeep.

    hai Oracle Expects,
    I have 3 pages in Portal 3.0.8-Oracle 8.1.7.
    I have some problem in the cookies.
    I will be thankful if your help me to
    solve my problem.
    The first page get the username and password
    through a procedure based portal form.
    Then it will check the username and password
    with the table and redirects to a corresponding page,if the value is correct. In the second and the third page i need the username and password. For that i used cookies to retrive. But some time it works and some times it wont works. I feel the coding which i used is with bugs.
    If you tell me how to write the cookies
    and to retirve the cookies in the forms i will try that and it will be the solution for my problem. I am expecting your reply .
    Thanks & Regards

  • Migrating portal from 10g to 11g

    Hi,
    We are in the process of upgrading oracle mid tier from 10gAS to OFMW 11g and also migrating it from Solaris to Linux.
    With regard the portal migration from OAS 10g to OFMW 11g
    1) Is it possible to migrate portal objects from 10g (solaris) to a new install of OFMW portal 11g(linux) directly OR do we have to upgrade the existing OAS 10g to OFMW portal 11g (on Solaris) and then migrate the portal objects to OFMW Portal 11g (on Linux)
    I am new to portal migration. Any suggestions and additional details would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    RB

    Migration + upgrade in one shot is do-able, because upgrade will require a sequence of processes but they will be mostly based on repository upgrade, and hence will be transparent to the OS you are using.
    However, in practice, the standard rule-of-thumb is that you avoid dealing with multiple layers of complications in a single shot. That means, you break complications in such steps where you could recognize the sources of any later errors/problems you encounter.
    hope that helps!

  • Executing an Oracle 9i Client Process from OAS 10g Java Application

    Sorry in advance for the long post:
    We have a piece of legacy software (Uniface.exe) that contains a good chunk of business rules for an existing system. Uniface client connects to an Oracle 10g database but requires Oracle 9i client libraries. Therefore the default Oracle home for a local machine running Uniface is set to the Oracle 9i client software location.
    On the same machine we have OAS 10g (10.1.3.1) running a Java-based middleware product (J2EE). The Java code invokes the Uniface.exe client to run specific business functions. We have in our Java code Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd); where cmd is the Uniface.exe.
    It appears that when the OAS Java program executes the Uniface.exe it is using the Oracle 10g client libraries from OAS instead of the Oracle 9i client libraries from the local machine's default Oracle home. When we run Uniface.exe from a Windows command prompt it works fine.
    We have noticed that when running Uniface.exe from Java OAS uses its own Windows path and environment variables and does not honor the system path. We wrote a Windows bat script to explicitly set the Oracle home and system path to the 9i location and then run Uniface.exe but this doesn't seem to work.
    Any ideas?

    OAS sets the ORA_NLS33 environment variable to the OAS 10g home location (F:\Oracle\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\ocommon\nls\admin\dat). Setting it to my Oracle 9i client location (C:\Oracle\product\9i\ocommon\nls\ADMIN\DATA) appears to have solved the problem.

    Hi,
    I'm new to this portal.I want to migrate our application which is in oracle 9i portal to our new oracle 10g portal.Can any body give me step how i should go about doing it.
    Thank you

    You can upgrade your Application Server from release 9i to 10G. This will also upgrade your Portal application.

  • Connect from Windows Client to Oracle 10g for Windows 64-bit

    Have an environment currently running Oracle 10g 32-bit on Windows 2000 Standard, and need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-bit for Windows. Users connect to the 10g 32-bit database using the Oracle Client for Windows 10g loaded on remote PC's. If we migrate to the Oracle 10g 64-bit on Windows 2003 Server Enteprise Edition 64-bit, what type of client do I have to install on the PC's to access the Oracle 10g 64-bit database?
    Any ehlp/insight will be greatly appreciated.
    Eduardo in Michigan

    In addition to install 32-bit Oracle client to 32-bit Windows OS, you need to know whether your application is compiled to run in 32-bit or 64-bit.
    This is critical because 32-bit application can not see 64-bit Oracle ODBC and OLE DB provider.
    For example, MS SQL Server 2005 uses 32-bit DTS, and SSIS, which needs 32-bit Oracle client
    If you don't know, get a copy of both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, and try one-by-one to know for sure. Please be aware that if regsvr32.exe in the Windows has been overwritten by older software installation, it won't register some DLL properly, and Oracle ODBC, or OLE DB won't show up as well

  • Steps to upgrade from Weblogic Portal 8.1 to Webcenter Portal 11.1.1.6

    Currently I'm involved in consulting for a client who has Weblogic Portal (WLP) 8.1. I'm trying to find documentation for upgrade from WLP 8.1 to Webcenter 11.1.1.6.
    I found the below link but the starting point for upgrade is Oracle WebCenter 10g (10.1.3)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e22628/wcmap.htm
    I'm not clear if I should migrate from WLP 8.1 to WLP 10.3.x and then to Webcenter or direct migration from WLP 8.1 to Webcenter is possible ?
    Any pointers / links / case study would be helpful.
    Thanks for the helping soul in advance.

    Thank you jiri for the quick response.
    Regarding your comment 'upgrade from WLP 8.1 to WLP 10.3.5 is not for free', I did some search and found that the documentation is available for upgrading from 8.1 to 10.3.4 as below :
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14253/upgrade_process.htm
    Also when I went to the 10.3.5 documentation library (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35968_01/index.htm), I found the below link (where the upgrade process points 8.1 to 10.3.4 instead of 8.1 to *10.3.5*)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26806_01/wlp.1034/e14253/toc.htm
    My understanding (after reading the documentation + your comment) is that we can upgrade from 8.1 to 10.3.4 but to upgrade to 10.3.5 we need to pay Oracle. Could you point me to a link which has that information ?
    Thank you for your help.

  • Writing Cookie from a Portlet

    Hi,
    I am unable to write a cookie from a portlet. From the portlet JSP I am
    writing the cookie to response object and the cookie is not getting to the
    client.
    So How can I write a client-side cookie from a portlet JSP?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    UDay

    Uday,
    The portal page is composed of many JSPs originating from portal.jsp. Portlets
    are ultimately included via a <jsp:include> tag. This is what the JSP spec says
    about <jsp:include>
    "An included page only has access to the JspWriter object and it cannot set headers.
    This precludes invoking methods like setCookie(). A request-time Exception will
    be raised if this constraint is not satisfied. The constraint is equivalent to
    the one imposed on the include() method of the RequestDispatcher class."
    You will need to set your cookie from portal.jsp.

  • Cannot find dashboard and reports after upgrading rdp from 10g to 11g OBIEE

    Hi all
    I am trying to upgrade from OBIEE 10g to 11g. These two products are installed on different servers. I have followed the guide: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2011/11-jul/o41bi-402913.html and everything seems to work fine.
    So i have taken a copy of rdp from the server where was installed OBIEE 10g and took it in the server where OBIEE 11g is installed.
    Ran the upgrade tool and upgrade finished successfully. Restarted the BI Servers in core application on Enterprise Manager.
    Now when i access the upgraded rpd, the layers and the fields are fine but I cannot find all the reports and dashboards that i had created.
    Am I missing any upgrade steps?
    Please suggest
    Thank you and best regards

    Hi Deepak,
    Thanks for your response.
    Oracle also came back to me and looks like my method is not valid:
    Hi Jim,
    Thanks a lot for the information. First of all I would like to inform you that upgrade CANNOT be performed across two machine. So, if 10g installation is on Host A, then upgrade to 11g will be on Host A.
    So, in your scenario this is what you can do:
    1. On Host A running Forms/Discoverer 10g on Windows 2003, install Forms/Discoverer/Reports 11g (11.1.1.6.0)
    2. Run the upgrade Assistant to perform the upgrade from 10g to 11g.
    3. Now upgrade OS of Host A to Windows 2008
    In short, I would like to inform you that upgrades across machines does not work. Source instance which is 10g and destination instance which is 11g must exist on same box.
    Here is the documentation which you can follow:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/upgrade.1111/e10130/toc.htm
    (Oracle® Fusion Middleware Upgrade Guide for Oracle Portal, Forms, Reports, and Discoverer)
    11g Release 1 (11.1.1)
    Let me know if you have any further questions.
    Thanks,
    Rishi

  • Calling a web service from a portal application / SOAP Action

    Hallo,
    Daniel Dehnhard

    Hi,
      I am accessing a web service from a Portal Component through a Portal Web Service. First i created a web service, then a portal web service which is made to access the wsdl file of the web service. Now i access the Portal Web Service from a Portal Component. Now i am getting an error as,
    Exceptionjava.lang.IllegalArgumentException: The SOAP Action "" include in the soap request not corresponding to the Portal service method.
    The code which i wrote in component is below
    String text = "word";
    FuncHelloResponse res=new FuncHelloResponse();
    FuncHello fn= new FuncHello() ;
    fn.setName(text);
    res= (  (INewPortal) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(INewPortal.KEY)).FuncHello(fn);
    response.write(res.getResponse());
    Can any one solve this problem?

  • How to trigger BPM Process from SRM Portal

    Hello Experts,
    I'am new to BPM and NWDS 7.3 but experienced with Abap and NWDS 7.0 Development...
    Before posting, i have been through the forum and couldn't find exact answer to my case..
    Basicly what i need to do is to trigger BPM Processes on the BPM Server from SRM Portal Server, I'm aware that i can communicate between these servers with WSDL basicly but how am i going to call the BPM Process' Web Service from Standart SRM  Processes?
    These processes will be standart ones mostly and also i am new to SRM.
    Kindest Regards,

    SAP SRM 7.0 user interface is developed in WebDynpro and runs on NetWeaver Portal (Portal was optional component in earlier versions of SRM but it is mandatory component now). So in order to call BPM Webservice (i.e., to trigger a BPM Process) from NetWeaver Portal / SRM 7.0 you can do the following
    - Develop a custom application (using EJBs,etc) to call the BPM web service by creating a web service proxy client using NWDS and then deploying it on Portal Server.
    - Directly create a model in WebDynpro project by using the WSDL of BPM trigger webservice (using NWDS). You can then call the model in WD User Interface, which in turn will invoke the BPM web service and start the process.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to read Cookies from Browser

    Hi All,
    The following is the scenario:
    Portal 1
    We have intranet portal which is developed using ASP.NET and upon successful authentication a cookie(logged-in user) is created in the browser.
    Portal 2
    We have another portal(running on Apache tomcat) has to read the cookie(logged-in user) from the browser and display the welcome text
    Initially the user access portal 1 after successful authentication the user access portal 2(by overwriting in the browser) which should read cookie from the browser and display the successful text.
    If the URL is overwritten in the browser with portal 2 we are unable to read the cookies.
    Pls suggest possible solution.

  • Getting "Set-Cookie" from response message

    Hello XI SDN'ers,
    I am calling an external webservice through my "SOAP (Axis)" adapter and I am getting the response. The response header looks like this:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
    X-Powered-By: Servlet 2.4; JBoss-4.0.5.GA (build: CVSTag=Branch_4_0 date=200610162339)/Tomcat-5.5

    Content-Type: text/xml;charset=utf-8
    Date: Mon, 26 May 2008 10:07:58 GMT
    Connection: close
    I want to get this "Set-Cookie" from my initial "Login" response and set the cookie in further "Synchronous Request" so that I won't loose my sessions.
    so I wrote my UDF to get this SetCookie:
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container
        .getTransformationParameters()
        .get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create(
    paramNamespace, paramName);
    String value = conf.get(key);
    return myString;
    but I am getting "Null" value.
    Please correct me to get "Set Cookie" value from my response!
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Multiple oracle client configuration 9i / 10g - variables question

    Our ETL tool sits on a Windows application server.
    The ETL tool communicates with Oracle databases using SQLNet Client.
    The database we need to output to is 10g. The target for this database is defined in the tnsnames.ora file.
    We need to read from 8i, 9i, and 10g databases. The details of these are also in the tnsnames.ora file.
    We would like the default client on the application server running the ETL tool to be the 10g client.
    We would like the 9i client to be installed alongside the 10g client, with the 10g client being the default. We can then create an ODBC connection using the Oracle SQORA32.DLL driver that is packaged as part of the 9i client installation.
    Our ETL tool will then read from the 8i database using the 9i ODBC connection, outputting to a 10g database via the 10g SQLNet client. (We encountered ORA-03134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported when connecting to our 8i database because the version was so old, and we cannot patch it due to business requirements).
    Problem:
    How do we configure the clients to allow this? What is the best way? What should the PATH be set to / should ORACLE_HOME / TNS_ADMIN be defined etc? Are there any other variables that we need to set?
