Executing an Oracle 9i Client Process from OAS 10g Java Application

Sorry in advance for the long post:
We have a piece of legacy software (Uniface.exe) that contains a good chunk of business rules for an existing system. Uniface client connects to an Oracle 10g database but requires Oracle 9i client libraries. Therefore the default Oracle home for a local machine running Uniface is set to the Oracle 9i client software location.
On the same machine we have OAS 10g (10.1.3.1) running a Java-based middleware product (J2EE). The Java code invokes the Uniface.exe client to run specific business functions. We have in our Java code Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd); where cmd is the Uniface.exe.
It appears that when the OAS Java program executes the Uniface.exe it is using the Oracle 10g client libraries from OAS instead of the Oracle 9i client libraries from the local machine's default Oracle home. When we run Uniface.exe from a Windows command prompt it works fine.
We have noticed that when running Uniface.exe from Java OAS uses its own Windows path and environment variables and does not honor the system path. We wrote a Windows bat script to explicitly set the Oracle home and system path to the 9i location and then run Uniface.exe but this doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?

OAS sets the ORA_NLS33 environment variable to the OAS 10g home location (F:\Oracle\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\ocommon\nls\admin\dat). Setting it to my Oracle 9i client location (C:\Oracle\product\9i\ocommon\nls\ADMIN\DATA) appears to have solved the problem.

  • BC4J and OAS with Java Application Client

    Could you show me an example about using the BC4J and OAS with Java Application client.
    The JDeveloper Help is not enough to solve this kind of problem.
    Configuration:
    Jdeveloper 3.1
    OAS 4.0.8.1
    Database 7.3.4
    null

    if you can logon with client tools then that should be an indication that the service account running the CMS IS working! Good news.
    So the problem is likely with the java portion (krb5/bsclogin or java options)
    If the files are in c:\winnt\ (if not copy them there) and perform c:\program files\business objects\javasdk\bin\kinit username
    then enter and password/enter again
    Probably get the same message. To note in your krb5.ini all domain info must be in CAPS (the .com appears to be in lower case)
    kinit works with just the krb5.ini, java SDK and AD (removing BO config and the service account from the picture). Once that works if your java options are specified properly you should be able to login to CMC/infoview.
    also 1 last point. Add udp_preference_limit = 1 to the krb5 lib defaults section
    libdefaults
    default_realm = BD.com
    dns_lookup_kdc = true
    dns_lookup_realm = true
    udp_preference_limit = 1

  • Migration from OAS 10g to Weblogic 10.3

    Hello,
    I migrate large app from OAS 10g to Weblogic 10.3.
    1.
    The main part of the job was to prepare descriptors for Weblogic. Unfortunatelly I don't find any tool that could do the job:( There are some problems with descriptors namespaces. This schema and namespaces given in 10.3 docs are not working (not available):
    http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/ejb/DD_defs_reference.html
    So I use the one from 10 release in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml:
    weblogic-ejb-jar xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/10.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/10.0 http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/10.0/weblogic-ejb-jar.xsd">
    and form 9 release in weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml:
    <weblogic-rdbms-jar xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90 http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90/weblogic-rdbms20-persistence.xsd">
    There are also some bugs in docs about ejb relations.
    After fixing some schema compliance exc this step success.
    2. Next the EJBComplianceChecker - its much more restrictive than OAS verification. So updates in ejb interfaces are necessary. It is not a problem with small app but when there ale a lot of code/branches to migrate it's become a problem. I have been looking for some switch that could help with this but with no result/
    EJBComplianceChecker - Spec veryfication level
    3. Now after EJB compliance checker done its job with success I have an exception that I do not understand:
    An error occurred during activation of changes, please see the log for details.
    Exception
    preparing module: EJBModule(corpo_ejb.jar)

    weblogic.ejb.container.ejbc.EJBCompiler.doCompile(EJBCompiler.java:357)

    Could you please give me some point where the problem could be? I don't have any idea where to start looking for..
    What are your experiences with migrations from OAS to Weblogic 10?

    Hi Stoigniew Sztank,
    I am working on migrating Enterpirse application developed using Struts, Ejb2.0, JMS. Its been deployed on OAS 10G and Websphere, but I need to deploy the application on Weblogic 10.3. It seems you have migrated a J2ee application from OAS 10G to Weblogic 10.3. Please can you list me the steps that you followed to migrate the application.
    As per my understanding follwing things needsto be taken care of:-
    1) Weblogic Descriptor files:
    1.1 Weblogic.xml:- we added security roles and ejb-reference-description for the ejbs.
    1.2 Weblogic-ejb-jar.xml for all the ejbs used in the application.

    To support certficate based client authentication using 2-way SSL from a standalone java application which uses JNDI and JSSE1.0.2 to connect to an SSL enabled LDAP Server how do we configure the certmap.conf?Is there any additional setup required at the LDAP Server side apart from enablinf SSL with the option"Required Client Authentication" enabled.The 2 way SSL handshake goes through but the access log file (After configuring the certmap.conf for the issuer DN of the client certficate etc..)shows SSL failed to LDAP DN?But inspite of this access log error the Java client does get an SSL Connection object with which it is able to connect to the LDAP.IS the certmap.conf file being looked up by the LDAP Server at all?

    Hi,
    You can create a HTML file with the request post parameters and the external URL something like this:
    public java.lang.String GetRedirecturl( )
    // External URL
    String html = "<html><head></head><body onload=\"load()\"> " +
    "<form id=\"form1\" action=\"https://www.abc.com/xyz.jsp\" method=\"POST\">" +
    // Post Parameters
    "<INPUT TYPE=\"HIDDEN\" NAME=\"Param1\"VALUE=\""+Param1Value+"\">"+
    "<input name=\"sap-wd-resumeurl\" type=\"hidden\"/>" +
    "</form> " +
    "" +
    "<script>" +
    "function load(){" +
    "var loc = window.location.search.substring(1);" +
    "var queryString = loc.split(\"sap-wd-resumeurl=\");" +
    "if(queryString.length > 0)" +
    "{" +
    "var resumeURL = queryString[1].split(\"&\");" +
    "if(resumeURL.length >= 0)" +
    "{" +
    " document.forms['form1'].elements['sap-wd-resumeurl'].value= unescape(resumeURL[0])" +
    "}" +
    "}" +
    "document.getElementById('form1').submit();" +
    "}" +
    "</script>" +
    "</body> </html>";
    String redirectUrl = "";
    byte[] byteArrayHtmlData = null;
    try {
      byteArrayHtmlData = html.getBytes("UTF-8");
    } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) {
      wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("Internal error occurred. Please try after some time",true);
    IWDResource htmlResource = WDResourceFactory.createCachedResource(new ByteArrayInputStream(byteArrayHtmlData), "Redirect.html", WDWebResourceType.HTML, true);
    redirectUrl = htmlResource.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.AUTO.ordinal());
    return redirectUrl;
    Hope this will be helpful.

  • File Upload from a desktop java application

    Hi,
    what I want to achieve is, to upload a pipe-delimited text file from my desktop java application to my hosting server, and then on the server, I have a PHP page that would parse this file and insert records to the database.
    so, on the server, I can enable write access on the folder which I want to upload the file to,
    but how do I upload a file from my desktop application.
    Thanks

    HttpURLConnection conn = (HttpURLConnection) _url.openConnection();this code open a http connection, and what is left is to fill in http protocol things (e.g. content type, content length, POST/PUT or whatever method...etc). after you set the correct request header then open a output stream and pass your files and flush the connection then close it.... in theory (never tried sending files, only done handling POST http form requests with it but it shouldn't be too much different when it is http protocol)
    you may want to install Fiddler2 into your browser, it can filter out the browser outgoing and incomign information and you can take a little read in their header and see how they interact with each other

  • Can't access a bpel process from a standalone java client

    Hi i am using soa suite 10.1.3 and i'm trying to invoke a bpel process from a java client
    I am using the tutorial from this page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/bpel/pdf/orabpel-Tutorial7-InvokingBPELProcesses.pdf but i am trying to do the client in eclipse
    my class from where i want to invoke the proces looks like this:
    import java.rmi.RemoteException;
    import java.util.Map;
    import com.oracle.bpel.client.Locator;
    import com.oracle.bpel.client.ServerException;
    import com.oracle.bpel.client.dispatch.IDeliveryService;
    import com.oracle.bpel.client.NormalizedMessage;
    public class Invoke {
         public static void main (String args[])
              try {
                   Locator locator = new Locator("default", "bpel", (String)null);
                   IDeliveryService deliveryService =(IDeliveryService)locator.lookupService(IDeliveryService.SERVICE_NAME );
                   String xml =
                        "<ssn xmlns=\"http://services.otn.com\">123456789</ssn>";
                   NormalizedMessage nm = new NormalizedMessage( );
                   nm.addPart("payload", xml );
                   NormalizedMessage res =
                        deliveryService.request("CreditRatingService", "process", nm);
                        Map payload = res.getPayload();
              } catch (ServerException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } catch (RemoteException e) {
                   // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                   e.printStackTrace();
    The problem that i had firs was that the security.properties file could not be found in the config directory of the projects root. I think i resolved this problem by copying the context.properties file from teh rmi tutorial from the folder 102.InvokingProcesses and rename it.
    After this the error that occure was that the file ejb.properties could not be found in the same directory as the security file.
    Does anyone know how to resolve this problem or where did i miss anythink?
    I tried until now all the examples in the tutorial step by step and i couldnt manage to run one
    Thanks
    Best Regards Corneliu

    I'm just noticing this tonight, too.  I had Lr3 scan for missing photos.  It identified 388 out of about 20,000.  In checking on that, I tried to reconnect one to the current path, but nothing happens.  The entry for that shot stays in the Missing Photographs group, and the "missing" icon remains on the thumbnail.

    I suppose this paper is Oracle internal only at the moment.
    If you have the option, try JDev 11g and setup all the JDBC and JMS stuff in it.

    This forum is for discussing Measurement Studio for Visual Basic and is not really a good place to ask general purpose Java questions. I suggest searching one of the comp.lang.java.* newsgroups at http://groups.google.com/.
    Off the top of my head, though, I would say take a look at the Runtime.exec method.

  • Calling Portal application from current webdynpro java application

    Hi Experts,
    We are having Portal 7.4 SP6 framework.
    Application-A -> Web-dynpro java program pushing data into R/3 using BAPI.
    Application-B -> Std. WD-ABAP iView template.
    Currently, I am working in web-dynpro java program, where I am pushing some data into R/3 using BAPI in Application-A. And this BAPI data is getting displayed in another z-Tcode and displayed in portal using web-dynpro Abap iView template, which is Application-B
    Now I want to align this application, so that Application- A should call Application-B from within the WD-Java framework. And here Application-A should get closed and open application-B.
    Is there any standard process using Web-dynpro Java to handle such scenario.
    Regards,

    Hi Siddharth,
    Well, I think you can go for Portal Navigation concept.
    Please check the required source code in WDR_TEST_PORTAL_NAV Web Dynpro component. That will illustrate both Page based Navigation and Object based Navigation.
    Hope that should solve your problem.
