Client side dependant session tracking

Hi,
does Cookies, URL Rewriting and Httpsession depend on the client side settings?
Thanks.

That will happen automatically if the cookies are disabled on the client side. No worries about it.

  • EJB 3.0 client side dependency injection

    Hi,
    I develop an EJB 3.0 based enterprise application using Sun Java System Application Server. The application includes a Swing based client to be launched via Java WebStart. The client has to access some of the EJBs. Is it possible to use dependency injection on client side (see the @EJB annotation) and if yes how do I set the properties for this?
    The following snipped hopefully explains what I mean. The class FastEntry is a class of the Swing client. My question is how can I get the deviceSessionBean initialized?
    public class FastEntry extends javax.swing.JFrame {
        @EJB
        private static DeviceSessionRemote deviceSessionBean;Kind regards,
    Matthias

    Hi,
    For callbacks and interceptors, you can look at this page : http://today.java.net/pub/a/today/2005/08/18/ejb3.html
    For sending messages, I'd recommend to use JMS (if in clientSide), or EJB3 Message beans if in server side.
    Hope that helps :)

    Hi,
    I'm looking for some help on the below query to verify which version of sql server edition supports multiple or N number of sessions to the SQL server Instance using the SQL Server Management Studio tool from the client side.
    SQL Standard Vs Enterprise.
    your urgent help is much appreciated.

    Hello,
    See Maximum Capacity Specifications for SQL Server =>

  • How call session bean from Client side

    Hi
    calling session bean from client side it gives Lookup erroe, it gives JNDI error
    how we know session bean is working. in Admin tree bean statis is reb Flaf, and ID is "Down" how we activate it..
    null

    If you can make a connection using sess_sh, then you know that you have configured your database and listener properly. If it is not working, read the manuals that you can download from technet. They are pretty good, and if you follow the directions, you should see success.
    Good Luck!

  • STRUTS: client-side validation in jsp using  DynaValidatorForm

    I am supposed to work on struts on as project and it is like learning a crash course and work the next day.
    In Struts 1.1 enviroment, I am using DynaValidatorForm to create a bean form and then perform validation.
    1. I write a DynaValidatorForm definition in struts-config.xml
    2. I write xml for action so that when /getQuotes.do in invoked by a jsp form, the form data is put into the QuoteDetailsBean.
    3. add the plugin script for ValidatorPlugIn
    xml fragment from struts-config:
    //form bean
    <form-beans>
    <form-bean name="QuoteDetailsBean" type="org.apache.struts.validator.DynaValidatorForm">
        <form-property name="forename" type="java.lang.String"/>
       <form-property name="surname" type="java.lang.String"/>
    <form-bean>
    </form-beans>
    <action
            path="/getQuotes"
            type="com.kainos.quickquotes.struts.QQGetQuotesAction"
            validate="true"
            name="QuoteDetailsBean"
            input="/userform1.do"
            parameter="save"
            scope="session">
            <forward name="success" path="/pages/jsp/result.jsp"/>
            <forward name="back" path="/userform1.do"/>
    </action>
    <plug-in className="org.apache.struts.validator.ValidatorPlugIn">
         <set-property
             property="pathnames"
             value="/WEB-INF/validator-rules.xml,/WEB-INF/validation.xml"/>
      </plug-in>Now I write a validation code for getQuotes.do. note that I can write the validation code with
    <form name="QuoteDetailsBean"> but this form bean is shared by many jsp, so i am using the name of the action
    (getQuotes) as the name of the form in the validation.xml.
    So far this looks okay, as I am going by some example.
    xml fragment from validation.xml:
    <formset>
              <form name="/getQuotes">
                 <field property="forename" depends="required,minlength">
                    <arg0 key="QuoteDetailsBean.forename" />
                    <arg1 name="minlength" key="${var:minlength}" resource="false"/>
                    <var>
                       <var-name>minlength</var-name>
                       <var-value>2</var-value>
                    </var>
                 </field>
                 <field property="surname" depends="required,minlength">
                <arg0 key="QuoteDetailsBean.surname" />
                <arg1 name="minlength" key="${var:minlength}" resource="false"/>
                <var>
                   <var-name>minlength</var-name>
                   <var-value>2</var-value>
                </var>
                 </field>
    </formset>Now I write the JSP. I use the <html:javascript> tag to allow front-end validation based on the xml in validation.xml.
    The jsp code:
    <%@ taglib uri="/tags/struts-bean" prefix="bean" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/tags/struts-html" prefix="html" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/tags/struts-logic" prefix="logic" %>
    <html:html locale="true">
    <head>
    <title><bean:message key="welcome.title"/></title>
    <html:base/>
    <html:javascript formName="/getQuotes"
                method="validateForm"
                dynamicJavascript="true"
                staticJavascript="false"
                cdata="false" />
    </head>
    <body bgcolor="#FFCC9F">
    <html:errors />
    <html:form action="getQuotes.do" onsubmit="return validateForm(this);" >
    Forename:</td> <td><html:text property="forename"/></td></tr>
    <tr> <td>Surname:</td> <td><html:text property="surname"/></td></tr>
    <html:submit value="Quotes" /></td></tr>
    </html:form>
    </body>
    </html:html>Does this looks okay. I wrote so far based on some tutorials n help online.
    Now when I open the JSP and then do a submit, there is no validation (I tried by submitting with empty forename and surname. I mean i could invoke the action class and the invoke class
    redirects(forwards) to the appropriate path. so the code works fine except validation is not done
    Q1. So what should i do more to get client-side validation?
    What actually happens in client-side validation? does a pop up alert appears?
    nothing happens so far in my case.
    Q2. What should I do more for server side validation. Since the form is incomplete, what happens?
    I thought the same form returns and the error messages are printed in the jsp page since i have the <html:errors />
    tag just below the <body> tag.
    The action class is pretty simple so far:
    public class QQGetQuotesAction extends Action {
        public QQGetQuotesAction(){
    public ActionForward execute(ActionMapping mapping,
                 ActionForm form,
                 HttpServletRequest request,
                 HttpServletResponse response)
        throws Exception {
            DynaValidatorForm dynaform = (DynaValidatorForm)form;
            System.out.println("forename:"+dynaform.get("forename");
            System.out.println("surname:"+dynaform.get("surname");
            return forward=mapping.findForward("back");
    }Please help me out. I think I am missing something which i need to do
    thanks
    Tanveer

    I think the validations are to be declared on the form
    name and not the action path.
    Your formName is QuoteDetailsBean but your are using
    the action path(/getQuotes) both in the validation
    rules and the jsp tags. Use the formName on both the
    places.
    Also your html:javascript tag will not generate the
    static javascript to validate the fields. For this you
    will have to add code like below.
    <html:javascript dynamicJavascript="false"
    staticJavascript="true"/>
    Other options is to set the attribute
    staticJavascript="true" in your html:javascript tag.
    Hope it helps.hi
    staticJavascript="true" did the trick. :)
    I think the validations are to be declared on the form name and not the action path.It is not necessary. You can declare the validation on the action class. This is essential if a form bean is shared by several JSPs having its own action class. This is as per as I read in a tutorial and it works.

  • ADF client-side state saving

    <p>Hi, I'm developing JSF with ADF and MyFaces. I want to minimise the load on my Server, e.g. by minimising use of session beans and other types of session storage. So I use the <t:saveState> from MyFaces instead. In web.xml I set the parameter:</p>
    <p>
    <context-param>
    <param-name>javax.faces.STATE_SAVING_METHOD</param-name>
    <param-value>client</param-value>
    </context-param>
    </p>
    <p>This makes all the MyFaces components store state on the client. However, this still doesn't force the ADF components to use client-side state saving(!). As described here, the default behaviour in ADF is to use a session token to store page state in HttpSession. In my project I've seen all sorts of strange behaviour when the session token exceeds the number of CLIENT_STATE_MAX_TOKENS. Of course I can try to increase this value, but this will lead to even more sesison usage. </p>
    <p>So, I tried setting another parameter in web.xml:</p>
    <p>
    <context-param>
    <param-name>oracle.adf.view.faces.CLIENT_STATE_METHOD</param-name>
    <param-value>all</param-value>
    </context-param>
    <p>
    <p>This should force all state to be moved to the client in a hidden form field. But when I do this I get this type of error:</p>
    <p>

    <p>Thanks guys. I did indeed try to use <t:saveState> to save the CoreSelectOneChoice. More specifically, I tried to use <t:saveState> on a backing bean where one of its properties were a CoreSelectOneChoice. The backing bean itself needs to be serializable as well as all of its properties, so the solution is to set the local variable transient.</p>
    <p>After overcoming this problem, however, I found that some of my managed beans still had serialization problems because they had references to "service managers" that were dependency injected via JSF's managed means facility. See this blog for a discussion about serialization and MyFaces.

  • Session tracking and Internet Explorer

    Hi,
    I am currently maintaining a servlet application, on apache/jserv.
    This application implements a session tracking using a shared static hashtable of session data, associated with session id's.
    This application may open more than one client browser windows.
    With netscape, no problem.
    With Internet Explorer, since the version 6, when the client close at least one window, the session is closed.
    Thus, the application reject any new request from this client, sent by still open windows (session cannot be retrieved in the hashtable).
    Has somebody heard about this problem ?
    Thanks for any answer.

    Thanks.
    In fact, I believe that IE keeps the same session for
    child windows.
    The problem is: when you click on a link which open a
    new window, the new open window share the session with
    its parent window.
    When the new window is closed, the session is also
    closed.
    It appears that this mechanism only exists since the
    version 6 of IE.No. Earlier IE version handle session cookies the same way.

  • Why does IE8 running on XP and Win7 Virtual Machine deletes the history while I'm still browsing the same site with client-side hashbang routing?

    Hello,
    I have a asp.net mvc 5 web application running on .net 4.5 hosted on my local windows 8 machine on macbook pro using parallels. I'm running Internet Explorer 8 Version: 8.0.6001.18702 running on XP and Version: 8.0.7601.17514 running on Windows 7 Enterprise.
     I've got both of the virtual machine source from www.modern.ie
    My web application is attempting to provide single page user experience by having some client-side routing by using '#!/xxx' hashbangs in the url so that I can get and post via ajax and change the hash in  the url without causing the page to reload. My
    code works fine in IE9+ and other modern browsers.
    However, I'm facing this strange issue in both of the IE8 versions. When running my demo app in IE8, I can login, view home page and can navigate from this home page to many details page. From the very first login page, all the pages are the result
    of form's post action via ajax which then expects html from server and loads in the DOM. The page structure of my app is like summary form => Details page (can also contain summary forms) => Details...so on.
    The above process works fine for few of the navigation steps. If I keep navigating from one page to another & go back, I have observed that the browser back button is removing the history items slowly. And a time comes when it totally forgets about
    all the history pages that I visited to reach this current page I'm viewing!! It treats like I have just started my browsing session and this current page is the first page I've landed on with no back option. Now if I again try to navigate, I have encountered
    problems like both the back and forward buttons gets disabled.
    Hope, my words above is clear enough to explain this problem. The same application works fine in IE9+ and other browsers.
    Till now, I have tried following steps on both VMs:
    Resetting IE8.
    Increasing disk space to 1024mb for temporary internet files storage.
    Setting 'Never' for Check for newer versions of stored pages.
    Disabling the automatic crash recovery feature didn't helped in this case. Found this on support website.
    Deleted temporary files, history, cache, etc many a times.
    Search many forums, posted question on StackOverflow, ASP.NET
    Forums - but didn't helped.
    Tried 'beforeunload' event of browser to see if any of the page is reloading because of submit or any other reason. But the page doesn't reload at all.
    The issue is browser forgets about the browsing history while I'm still browsing the same site.
    Is there any possible fix for the issue above? Does IE8 have any issues as many ajax form post is happening on every page?

    I have really tried many things to identify any possible reason of the issue above. Even rewrote all my javascript navigation code and checked server-side code.
    But the only place where I got the solution is at site: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/bugs.asp which states that there is a bug in IE8 which reads like:
     IE0012: IE Travellog broken when navigating back/away from a page with
     a large POST form If there is a form input field with a value longer
     than 523,659 characters, when you navigate away from the page, IE may
     clear the current session's travellog (similar to history), disabling
     the back and forward buttons. Repros in IE6 & IE7.
    There are following solutions that you can go for:
    - Check for the input field that has lots of characters as mentioned above and solve your problem.
    - If you have control over the system where IE8 will be used, you can add the following registry key on that machine. There is no existing key, so, you need to add a new one:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TravelLog] "MaxSize"=dword:ffffffff
    I am really relaxed to find this information as I spent really long time to solve this issue. Hope this will help someone.

    h.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY," ********what should i use here???????*************************")
    Each app server provides their own jndi factory class. For ex for weblogic it is weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory. SInce you are using sun app server, check if there are any examples to find out or the docs.
    private static String url="http://localhost:4848
    Since the client is in a different machine the localhost is not going to work here. provide the url or the machine name of the system in which ur sunapp server is running. In addition u will need to have the stubs of the remote interfaces in ur client machine.

  • How to get and put data in HTTP header in Client Side

    One JSP's function is to display data records page by page. Client users could click "First page" or "Previous Page" or "Next Page" or "Last Page" button to let the JSP to show the corresponding page. So the JSP must remember the current page number. Due to there are a number of client users maybe access the JSP at the same time, keep the current page number in session, there will be a lot of session is created at the same time, this will impact system's performance. So using session to keep data method is not used. I plan to use request header and response header to pass the current page number. I know use the response.addHeader to put data in response header and also know use request.getHeader to get data in request header in server side, but I donot know how to put data in request header and how to get data in response header in client side. Could you please give me a help? If donot use these method, are there any other method? Thanks a lot.

    Why not pass it as a parameter with the URL?
    at the beginning of the page..
    <%
    int pageNumber = Integer.parseInt(request.getParameter("page"));
    %>
    then when defining your links
    <a href="thisPage.jsp?page=<%= (pageNumber-1)%>">Previous</a>
    <a href="thisPage.jsp?page=<%= (pageNumber+1)%>">Next</a>

  • How to pass a string from a servlet to client side

    hi,
    i would like to generate a string from a servlet and pass it to the client side. the client will receive the string by using request.getParameter(). How should i implement this system? Could anybody give me some hint?

    Greetings,
    hi,
    i would like to generate a string from a servlet and
    pass it to the client side. the client will receive
    the string by using request.getParameter(). HowAre you referring to the instance of (Http)ServletRequest the 'request' object being passed to the "client"? What is the "client" in this case? If you mean a "traditional" client communicating over (or by tunneling through...) HTTP then no can do. The (Http)ServletRequest object is generated by the web container (a.k.a. "servlet engine"), not by the client, and it is not serializable so there is no way to pass it back to the client...
    should i implement this system? Could anybody give me
    some hint?It depends again on "what is the 'client' in this case?"

  • Client Side Eventing

    Hi,
    I have 2 seperate iviews, iView1 and iView2. I would like to make a call to the backend database using JCO and pass the ResultSet to iView2. In iView2 format the data and display in a tableview.
    Is it possible to pass a Resultset using Clientside Eventing from iView1 to iView2.
    To achieve this would it be best to use Client Side Eventing or Session Beans.
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    NAC

    Hi NAC,
    I already answered your question in two iviews calling each other on a single page?
    If it isn't clear, please ask precise what you didn't understand...

  • How do I get an XML file on the client side hard drive

    Is there a way to get XML files from a Flex form and get it
    to the hard drive on the client side? I realize Microsoft got
    impaled by allowing this sort of thing with ActiveX. We would like
    the app to be browser based but need XML files dropped off on the
    hard drive. There is an application running locally that needs to
    consume them. Can I run flex standalone without web services and
    still access the hard drive? Seems robust enough to do so.

    Hi Simcah, I have a similar problem. Have you found out any solution?
    thanks, dan
    You need to ask the printing service provider. Dealing with color totally depends on the printing process involved and of course the machines used.

  • Does URL Services support client side script?

    My ASP page it built as a portlet, and displays fine but it
    won't submit. When I view the Source in my browser, Portal
    didn't include any of my client side vbscript script, then html
    is there but everything else is missing....
    Question: Does URLServices support client-side VBScript?
    I am using some vbscript for validation purposes and then
    using the document.ChangePassword.submit() to submit the
    form.
    If URLServices doesn't support it, then URLServices is totally
    useless... Everyone uses some kind of client-side script to
    validate the form!

    Hi Rea,
    Per my understanding you want to know some information about using the Visual Studio to do the debugging, right?
    Example, If you want to debug a customized extension for SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) in Visual Studio, you can attach the process to ReportingSerivcesService. We need to check the items "Show processes from all users" and "Show
    processes in all sessions" to show the "ReportingSerivcesService. exe" process.
    Additionally, please make sure the customized extension is invoked in the Reporting Services(make sure all configurations is set correctly), otherwise we won't be able to run into the breakpoint. More Details information in this article for your reference:Start
    a debugging session for a Store app in Visual Studio (VB, C#, C++ and XAML)
    You can also add the debugger keyword in the code, see
