Client Side Eventing

Hi,
I have 2 seperate iviews, iView1 and iView2. I would like to make a call to the backend database using JCO and pass the ResultSet to iView2. In iView2 format the data and display in a tableview.
Is it possible to pass a Resultset using Clientside Eventing from iView1 to iView2.
To achieve this would it be best to use Client Side Eventing or Session Beans.
Any advice would be appreciated.

EPCF Client Side Eventing

Hello,
I have been working on some EPCF client side eventing examples. I found the example by Dr. Ron Hendrickx at the following URL.

So, I imported the .par to Eclipse, I then changed the code so that the sender is a tree holding URL's and the receiver displays them in an IsolatedHtmlContainer and got it working fine.
My problem is this, when I start a new project in Eclipse and copy/paste the code, properties files, the .classpath and .project files (everything) the IClientEventReceiver isReceived() event is never triggered. The doProcessBeforeOutput() method in the receiver is called but the event is not triggered. Seriously, we have copy/pasted everything exactly, the .par file created is identical in structure to Dr. Hendrick's and yet if I create a new project and make all the files it doesn't work. Only when I work with the .par imported from Dr. Hendrickx's work will the example work. We're thinking maybe some environment variable somewhere is causing this but we've copied the .classpath file, everything is exactly the same but the event will not be received in a project we create ourselves.
Really, any help with this will be well appreciated.

Pumped isolation method is sort of a combination of embedded and URL isolated. The portal server is used to fetch the content from the website/application. When the data is ready, it is "pumped" into the browser using an IFRAME tag and an XML based data stream. This give you the ability to cache the data on the portal server, but get the flexibility of isolated iViews.
However, we will plan to drop this functionality in the future and "pumped" iviews will automatically be treated as "URL isolated" iviews.

Client side event for h:outputText... and other JSF component

Hello friends...
I need client side (to use Java script ) event for change in <h:outputText /> or <h:inputText...>.
I want to open a popup window when there is a change in there. I donot want to use onblur() for this. Is there any thing for achiev it.

Unfortunately I think you may be stuck extending Renderer. Another possibility is creating your component via a template, which will be available in JSF 2.0. However, as JSF 2.0 won't be out for a while... you can use JSFTemplating in the meantime:

Client side event between Java iView and BSP application

Hi,
I am developing a BSP iView which listen to event raised by standard SAP HR TeamViewer iView. The TeamViewer iView raise a event when user click on the employee list.
EPCM.raiseEvent { "urn:com.sap.pct.hcm.orgmanagement:CurrentObject", "objectChanged", concatenatedKey);
My BSP is subscribing to the event and perform the myreceiveEvent function.
EPCM.subscribeEvent

However, my BSP returns an error message saying that EPCM is undefined. I know that I have to included the java script file. I checked with my basis team guy and they said there is not any js file in ICF. Can someone let me know which file I need to include in my BSP code and where is the file locate?

Eric... the place where the JS fragment - within the BSP - appears, is retrieved by some http request. The script=epcfproxy.js forces the browser to send a http request just to the same relative location the original page came from. Doesn't matter if something is within a database...

you have found it?! Put it to any place on the BSP server you can access, if you can't set it with relative url, use "/some/.../dir/epcfproxy.js" as location.

Have a look at epcfproxy.js. It's no magic at all, you have to call top or parent (just look) and do some minor things. For sure, you can live without the proxy file, you have just to put the neede scripts explicitely on your page, that's not that fine, but it works.

Client side eventing with HTMLB

Hi All,
I am trying to access the HTMLB elements from jsp page to java script and failed to handle an event.
My requirement is, i have a form designed in First.jsp which is having 2 input fileds and both are mandatory. I want to display a msg to the user if he try to skip those 2 input fileds without value.
This i tried with dynpage it is working but i want to have with a JSP page, ie., all the presentation is in jsp file. so, how can i access those 2 input fileds in java scipt function?
If anybopdy is having an idea or a sample code please share here.

PDK Prefix in client side

Hi All,
I have an application with a SAP table.
Some of the table cells are Input Fields.
I have set the same ScriptingEvent function for all the cells.
I want to access those fields from the client side.
I've noticed that the PDK adds a prefix to the controls.
For ID it's some String and "_" and for Name it's some String and ":".
For now, when I want to get the object's ID I use
"event.srcElement.id" is it the correct way?
Does the prefix remain const?

In order to get the id of a control you should the
ClientID property of the control.
You can find a good example at the "Portal Client-Side Events" in the How-to section of the PDK for .NET documentation.

Raise event from client side

Dear Experts,
   I would like to raise a event to SAP server by using sapevt.exe.
1. I have put sapevt.exe and DEFAULT.PFL in a special folder in the server and shared it.
2. I have created a bat file with following commands and distributed it to client stations:
   net use z:
sapserver\sapevt
   z:
   sapevt EVENT1 pf = DEFAULT.PFL
   net use z: /d
   exit
3. When I run the bat file in client stations, event is not raised.
   Log in dev_evt:
   Trace File of External Event Raiser (Level = 0, Append = 1)
   EventID: EVENT1
   SAP message server host: sappserver
   SAP message server service (old): sapmsPRD
ERROR ***: MsAttach (host=sappserver, serv=sapmsPRD), rc = -100
   But when I direct run sapevt.exe (sapevt EVENT1 pf = DEFAULT.PFL) in server side, event is raised successfully.
Please advice how to fix it. Thanks.

Do you have the entry sapmsPRD in the services file on the client stations ?
PS : Your technique is quite dangerous : Everybody will be able to trigger events...

Printing multiple PDF with single event at client side

Hello,
I have a requirement where I must print multiple different pre-populated Adobe forms (e.g. populated with a name/address) from ABAP WD. These need to be printed at a client side printer, and they don't want to see them first (that would be easy). Just print multiple forms from a single button click.
Has anyone had this requirement? My main question is not how to pre-populate the pdfSource, but how to have the user prompted for a printer 1x and then have the forms sent straight to the local printer without displaying.

Sorry to 'hijack' this thread but i was trying to do the same thing but failed EVERYTIME!!!
When i tried to merge just 2 multiple-paged(abt 20+ pages each) pdfs into one, it simply crashed Preview at the end of the process! Tried 'Save', 'Save all' & 'Print as PDF' but all doesn't work!
I tried Combine PDF.app & Automator.app and the same thing happened. The combining process CRASHED the app i used...

Why does IE8 running on XP and Win7 Virtual Machine deletes the history while I'm still browsing the same site with client-side hashbang routing?

I have a asp.net mvc 5 web application running on .net 4.5 hosted on my local windows 8 machine on macbook pro using parallels. I'm running Internet Explorer 8 Version: 8.0.6001.18702 running on XP and Version: 8.0.7601.17514 running on Windows 7 Enterprise.
I've got both of the virtual machine source from www.modern.ie
My web application is attempting to provide single page user experience by having some client-side routing by using '#!/xxx' hashbangs in the url so that I can get and post via ajax and change the hash in the url without causing the page to reload. My
code works fine in IE9+ and other modern browsers.
However, I'm facing this strange issue in both of the IE8 versions. When running my demo app in IE8, I can login, view home page and can navigate from this home page to many details page. From the very first login page, all the pages are the result
of form's post action via ajax which then expects html from server and loads in the DOM. The page structure of my app is like summary form => Details page (can also contain summary forms) => Details...so on.
The above process works fine for few of the navigation steps. If I keep navigating from one page to another & go back, I have observed that the browser back button is removing the history items slowly. And a time comes when it totally forgets about
all the history pages that I visited to reach this current page I'm viewing!! It treats like I have just started my browsing session and this current page is the first page I've landed on with no back option. Now if I again try to navigate, I have encountered
problems like both the back and forward buttons gets disabled.
Hope, my words above is clear enough to explain this problem. The same application works fine in IE9+ and other browsers.
Till now, I have tried following steps on both VMs:
Resetting IE8.
Increasing disk space to 1024mb for temporary internet files storage.
Setting 'Never' for Check for newer versions of stored pages.
Disabling the automatic crash recovery feature didn't helped in this case. Found this on support website.
Deleted temporary files, history, cache, etc many a times.
Search many forums, posted question on StackOverflow, ASP.NET
Forums - but didn't helped.
Tried 'beforeunload' event of browser to see if any of the page is reloading because of submit or any other reason. But the page doesn't reload at all.
The issue is browser forgets about the browsing history while I'm still browsing the same site.
Is there any possible fix for the issue above? Does IE8 have any issues as many ajax form post is happening on every page?

I have really tried many things to identify any possible reason of the issue above. Even rewrote all my javascript navigation code and checked server-side code.
But the only place where I got the solution is at site: http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/bugs.asp which states that there is a bug in IE8 which reads like:
IE0012: IE Travellog broken when navigating back/away from a page with
a large POST form If there is a form input field with a value longer
than 523,659 characters, when you navigate away from the page, IE may
clear the current session's travellog (similar to history), disabling
the back and forward buttons. Repros in IE6 & IE7.
There are following solutions that you can go for:
- Check for the input field that has lots of characters as mentioned above and solve your problem.
- If you have control over the system where IE8 will be used, you can add the following registry key on that machine. There is no existing key, so, you need to add a new one:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\TravelLog] "MaxSize"=dword:ffffffff
I am really relaxed to find this information as I spent really long time to solve this issue. Hope this will help someone.

I'm not sure how to get Zenworks to use the cleaned up version nor and I too sure what those extra extensions are and how they got in there. I may need to contact Novell in regards to this, but since I'm already working on an SR with them I figured I'd go ahead and post here first.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the groups I'm using. NOTE: These have been in affect throughout the issues experienced. Users will work perfectly fine then suddenly the problem will start happening without any policy change on our side.

The only condition I have is that these issues happen when logging in Workstation Only and I'm not able to recreate the problem on demand with tests.

Client side validations in web dynpro

Hi experts,
can anybody tell me How we perform client side validations in web dynpro ?

Hi Prasad,
Validations are generally required during some events or calls to a functions. So there are bascially two ways:
1) You do the validation is the onActionEvent of the UI element. However this is some time time is not a right approach (depends upon your scenario).
2) There is another method called wdDoBeforeAction(). Do all you validations for the actions in this method. read the java doc for the same functions, here:
   * Hook method called for additional validation of user input. <p>
   * @param validation Interface for reporting validation errors
You can catch the particualr action in this emthod and then can write you validation code before the action is called.
For gettiong the action use this code:
if(validation.getCurrentAction().equals(IPrivate<Your_View_Name>.WDActionEventHandler.<ACTION_NAME>)){
// write your validation code here.

Creating Client-side Image Map in Web Dynpro

Hi,
How can I create a client-side Image Map in Web Dynpro application?
My application consists of a screen-size image in which several areas will have to link to URLs and actions. I have browsed through the "Web Dynpro UI Element Reference Guide," but could not find anything appropriate.
Can someone give me an advice? Thanks.

It doesn't, there is no corresponding UI control for this.
There is only onAction event on BusinessGraphics (have not working with them since SP5, eventing did not work at that time) and onObjectAction in GeoMap (never see it in action, probably an option for you if your map is geographic map
