Cloaking Not Working In Dreamweaver CS3

I have been using dreamweaver for years (currently CS3) but recently cloaking has stopped functioning. I have restarted the application, toggled the checkbox to enable cloaking, nothing seems to work. When I do a sync even folder I have cloaked (red line through) show up with actions attached.
To my own fault I rely on the the sync to keep the server clean when updating sites, but because the cloaking has stopped working I almost deleted and entire online shop.
If anyone has run into this issue and corrected it please let me know - in the meantime I will just have to triple check the queue before syncing servers.
Thanks is advance.

  • CMD+ shortcuts not working in Dreamweaver CS3

I'm have a very strange issue with CMD+ keyboard shortcuts
not working in Dreamweaver CS3 on OSX 10.5. These actions are
working from the menus (i.e., copy, cut, paste, etc.). CMD+
shortcuts work in other CS3 apps. I've searched this forum and
googled up and down and found some references to issues like this
with Dreamweaver 8, but nothing for CS3.
Has anyone experienced this problem? I'm completely stumped.

My concern wasn't with the navbar, but thanks for the headsup.
The problem is that the link in the upper left hand corner, Suzie's Story, is a rollover image but it does not reveal the other image when the cursor goes over it.

  • Outraged that  KHTML is not supported in Dreamweaver cs3

I am outraged that KHTML is not supported in Dreamweaver CS3. If I had know this, I would not have purchased this software. In fact, I recommend that anyone using KHTML in earlier versions of Dreamweaver defintely not upgrade to CS3 until Adobe supports KHTML. To make matters worse, I have still not heard the reason that Adobe has decided to not support KHTML.
It is obvious that Adobe does not have the interest of their customers in mind.

    Hi David,
I absolutely disagree with you Gunther about KTML being "crap", and you are wrong about it being sold separately - it came integrated into MX Kollection.
As far I can recall, there were several options which changed in the course of time -- you could purchase a bundle, or you could purchase MX Kollection without any other secondary extension. As I said : "as far I recall"...
The primary advantage of KTML (other than its great wysiwyg capability and the convenience of it being a DW extension) is that it has a built-in file manager and image manager..
yes, that´s what I meant to indicate with my "2 well done features" summary
With a click of a button, you get wysiwyg editor, file manger, and image manager. And all of these work perfectly btw, and the image manager and file manager is better than Tiny's costly managers. For example with KTML the image resizer works better, you can change brightness and contrast and what's even better is that these functions can be done directly from the file manager w/out having to first open the image in the editor.
wanna know why exactly I decided to abandon KTML in favor of e.g. TinyMCE despite of the truly magnificent image and file management ? It´s because KTML simply didn´t provide any internal "hooks" to let me, say, allow user_id 1 to access all image editing functions, but user_id 2 just a subset or just the upload capability, but: No !
KTML´s "management" features would have been really great and really usable in a multi-user environamnt, if it would have provided this very feature -- but this would have meant to completely tie KTML to the rest of MX Kollection´s set of features
(ie handling external session variables, relate to permissions set in the login table), and that´s something what regretfully never happened, because the active development was
(as all you guys know) sort of stopped right at a point where it *could* have become really useful.
Another reason for me to not use the brilliant image management features :: does anyone recall KTML´s earlier versions which generated the image thumbnails "on the fly" ? If yes, you know what I´m talking about :: the latest KTML version *forced* me to accept having it create real thumbnail files in whatever obscure subdirectory, though I would never be really using them, and though KTML could certainly have done without them for generating an image preview
And the final problem with TinyMCE is the price: over $350 for the file manager (server license) and around $250 for image manager (server license). $600 to have it licensed on one server - They don't publish the price for unlimited license (probably very expensive). So just those two features costs almost twice as much as MX Kollection did that included those two features as only a small percentage of the overall package.
wow, that much ? incredible... Did never use these additional "managers", but in all other aspects I have to say that TinyMCE is indeed superior -- it´s all a matter of taste, but the sheer amount of configuration options is something I would have liked to see in KTML
The point is that there really is no true replacement for KTML right now and that is VERY unfortunate. I believe the reason we are discussing this is in the hopes that Adobe will see how much KTML is missed and bring it back or a suitable alternative
you *are* right, there is no good "extension" replacement, but I´m pretty sure that Adobe simply reviewed KMTL´s possible future in regards to the *very* strong and mature open source competition -- how much development resources (and money) would have been required to make KTML an editor which is on par with what´s already out there, and would this investment guarantee a stable market position ? noone really knows, but this would have been a risk, as KTML´s user-base was not *that* huge after all

  • "New" Godaddy webhosting account's won't work w/Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
I am having problems getting my Godaddy webhosting account's to work with Dreamweaver CS3. My older accounts work, it is my newer (last 6 months) accounts that have this issue. The ftp information works in my CuteFTP8 Professional. I called Godaddy tech support several times and they could not figure out. And, since it works in my FTP program, they said it is a Dreamweaver issue.
In the FTP host Remote Info I have tried www.domain.com, domain.com, ftp.domain.com with login and password. I also tried checking Use passive FTP, Use IPv6 Transfer mode, Use Secure FTP (SFTP) and leaving them all unchecked. The error message I always get is:
An FTP error occurred - cannot make connection to host. No response from the server. This may be due to one or more of the following reasons: etc.
I compared information with my Dreamweaver accounts that do worked and still no luck.
The only thing I can think of is when you create a new hosting account with Godaddy, depending on the month, you are assigned a different web server. Could it be the old Godaddy web servers work and the new web servers may have different settings that don't work with Dreamweaver? Or, I need different setting information??? I am at my wits end.
Any help on this would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MonaE

    Hi Mona:
If your FTP client works, then there has to be some miniscule detail that's different between that setup and what you're inputting into your DW Manage sites.  Maybe you should print out your successful FTP setup details, and compare to what's in your DW...
If this helps, this info came from GoDaddy's help section:
From the Site menu, select Manage Sites.
In the Manage Sites box, Click New, then choose Site.
In the Site Definition box, enter the name and URL of your website and clickNext.
If a certain type of server technology is necessary for the site to function, selectyes. Otherwise, select no and click Next.
For working with files during development, select Edit local copies on my machine...(recommended). It is very important that they select this option.
    Enter connection information as follows:
How do you connect to your remote server?
    FTP
What is the hostname or FTP address of your web server?
    ftp.domainname.com
What folder on the server do you want to store your files in?
    / or blank
Enter your FTP login and FTP Password
    Click Next.
For checking in and out files, select No, do not enable..
Review the summary to be sure all information is accurate, then click Done.
I have a dozen sites hosted at GD, and in most cases (where I had trouble), it was operator error.  Good luck!
    Regards, Ned

"Headers already sent" is a common problem encountered by PHP
    beginners.
The DW Log In User server behavior uses the PHP header()
    function to
redirect the page after checking the username and password.
    There must
be no output to the browser before the call to header(). What
    confuses
beginners is that "output" includes even a single space or
    new line
    character.
The error message suggests the problem is on line 68. Are you
    using echo
or anything like that? If so, that's the cause of your
    problem.
Another common cause is an extra line at the end of the
    connections
file. Open Connections/js.php, and make sure there are no
    extra lines
after the closing PHP tag. You can do this by looking at the
    line
numbers. Click as far down on the page as you can, and use
    backspace
until your cursor is directly to the right of the closing PHP
    tag.
One other possible cause is the use of links relative to the
    site root.
When you set that preference in your site definition,
    Dreamweaver uses
virtual() to include the connections file like this:
    > <?php virtual('/Connections/js.php'); ?>
    Try changing that to this:
    <?php require_once('Connections/js.php'); ?>
Make sure the relative path to the file is correct.

  • Auto indent is not working in Dreamweaver

    Hi,
I'm using Dreamweaver CS5 on Windows 7 and the auto indent in the Code pane is not working. All settings are at default after installation. The Indent option in Code Format in the Preferences is checked and set to 2 Spaces. Auto Indent is also checked in View > Code View Option.
    Steps to reproduce the problem:
File > New with Blank Page, Page Type > HTML, Layout > None or any.
The default code is not indented, pressing Enter to create a new line in the code, and typing any tag, for example <p> in a new line after <body> doesn't have any auto indent and all new lines are left aligned.
Do you have auto indent? If yes, what is different from what I described?
    Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Nancy, but this didn't make any difference.
Just to be clear, I'm new to Dreamweaver and my expectation is if I have for example:
    <body>
then press the Enter key and type
    <p>
after completing the <p> I expect Dreamweaver to recognize it as a tag that logically should be indented and add the indent automatically, making it like this:
    <body>
        <p>
Is my expectation wrong?. This is how auto indent works in other programing environments like Microsoft Visual Studio when coding in C++.
If I make the indent manually before typing <p> , for example adding a few spaces then the next line is on the same level keeping the indent. Is this what Dreamweaver considers as auto indent? May be I had higher expectations but then what is this 2 Spaces or Tabs in the Preferences?

  • Link works in Flash 8 but it does not work in Dreamweaver

I made a Flash swf file which contains button and ball. When
I put mouse over the button, the ball jumps up.
And also I have managed to attach a link to the button using
    action script.
Strange thing is the link works fine when I use test movie
with Flash 8 but when I insert it into Dreamweaver, although the
ball works fine with mouse over but the link does not work at all.
    Can anybody tell me why?
Why it work with test movie in Flash 8 but not in Dreamwever.
Thank you very much in advance.

I have just solve my question myself.
In a Dreamweaver preview the link does not work but once the
    page is published it works.
    Thank you.

  • Exported slices not working in Dreamweaver

I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I
created a simple rollover in fireworks, an image that when you
rollover it will reveal text. I followed instructions from a
tutorial, created my duplicate frame, everything looked great when
I tested the rollover in preview in fireworks but when I exported
to dreamweaver the rollover didn't work. I exported images with
html, I didn't say just this frame, not sure what I'm doing wrong.
I know this should work. Any suggestions would be very much
    appreciated.

The point Stephane is making - and rightly so - to use the
    right tool
for the job. I can create html files from MS Word, but I
    won't, because
of how Word generates the html (or at least how it *used* to.
    No idea
what it does in the latest iteration). FW generates passable
    html, but
it is NOT an html editor.
Example 1: It doesn't export text as text unless you ensure
    you create
html slices, and even then, if the output is a table layout,
    the layout
can explode if the text content is changed or even altered in
    size by
    the user.
Example 2: Its comprehension of CSS is very poor, if you
    think of the
program as a web page editor. As a graphics editor, hey at
    least it can
export layers. With the addition of the Smart CSS extension,
    things are
even better, but that is not native FW functionality.
Knowing your way around "under the hood" of a web page is
    still an
important skill *if* you are producing content for clients
    and being
paid to do it. IMO, that is part of what being a professional
    is all
about, and it's worth noting I make a distinction between the
    professional and casual user.
Very often we assume on this forum that those asking
    questions are
either in the profession, or planning to be, so at times the
    advice
given may seem a bit - impassioned - shall we say. But this
    is done for
a good reason. To help steer people down the right path. To
    help them
understand that there may be better, more standardized,
    consistent or
even just preferred ways of doing things in a professional
    manner.
FW's html has improved over time, but the program is not
    intended to be
a web page creation tool; it's a graphic design tool. As the
    software
evolves, maybe this will change somewhat, but no one can
    really say.
Now if you're just building a site for fun and are not
    concerned about
all that high-falluting pro mumbo jumbo, then hey, as
    Heathrowe says, go
ahead. And by all means use FW as a learning tool. Just
    understand there
are tools more suited to the job of creating html pages than
    FW.

  • Paste not working in Dreamweaver CS4

I am running Dreamweaver CS4.  The paste function is not working. Any ideas?

Assuming that your system runs Windows, there are a number of ways to paste the contents of the Clipboard into your document. The most trustworthy way is to use CTRL+v

  • Navigation bar does not work properly in CS3

The navigation bar shows only the up and the over pictures in
all browsers. It works properly in a framed site, showing all 4
different pictures. But not in the css-layout based site with files
from the same template, which show all in the same window. Does
anyone know where this problem comes from?

    > Why not use frames again?
This question is answered in detail several times a day here,
    but here's the
    executive summary -
    1. They are difficult for inexperienced users to get right -
    a) pages will not align properly if one of them throws
    scrollbars
    b) links will not work when targeted into different frames
    without
    hand-modification of code
    c) new (and inexperienced users) have problems with the idea
    of a single
frameset page that only specifies constituent frames
    d) new (and inexperienced users) can be confused by the fact
    that the
<title> tag on the frameset page is the one that
    appears in the browser
    e) etc., etc., etc.
    2. They are difficult for your visitors
    a) depending on how savvy you are, you may have removed
    scrollbars to
'fix' #1b, not thinking that you have also removed those
    scrollbars for
    people with smaller viewports
    b) search engines will index *all* pages within your
    frameset, meaning
that a navigation frame or a content only page MAY be shown
    in a search hit
list - imagine the confusion when the page is loaded without
    navigation, for
    example
And - they are so amateur. Really.

With js rollovers it's only *easy* to achieve the up and the
    over states.
With CSS rollovers, you can achieve up, over, over while
    down, and down.

Much of this has been removed in CS4.

The DivaHTML extension is a good deal. It is just a CSS
    rollover with an
    'easy' user interface.
