CLOB Items displaying in Form

I am migrating an Access application into Oracle and the migration tool I used converted the Access Memo type fields into CLOB's. When displaying the CLOB's on my forms I get a line of characters when the field is null. I have tried various combinations of datatype with no success. Anyone seen/fixed this problem before?

Yes, I have encountered this problem and have posted the message in the forum and never found a solution.
Try using a higher version or lower version of Forms it works. It does not work in Forms6.0....35.. version.

I am executing the form for output through executing Tcode - F110.
The output works for single line item entry of vendor line items - but doesnot support
for muliple line items.
I have checked the standard program - RFFOUS_C - which has include - RFFORI06 for remittance advice -which supports for single line item display.
Kindly advise me for the soultion of the same.

How to validate a text item/display item in Oracle forms 9i?

Hello Everyone,
I have a form in which we have to type in a product_id as shown below in the screenshot. And when we type in, it has to get validated.
If it is valid then ok, else display a message saying not valid.
How do we achieve it on a text box/diaply item in the form shown below.
Any kind of help would be really appreciated.

Just create a when-validate-item trigger for that text item and write the code inside to validate it.

Display items on a form

Dear composite experts,
Within GP I have three blocks:
1) Enter Purchase Order ID
2) Get Purchase Order details
3) Display Purchase Order details
For the third step I created a Web Dynpro Form as CO. On this form I have placed some header fields and a table to display the items. The header fields are OK, but I only get the first item displayed in my item table.
Who can help me out with getting the other items in my table as well?
I have tried looking into the tutorials and this forum - but no luck so far

PS. When I test the CO from block 2, I get the complete purchase order back, both header details and items.

Now I want to model the process in the GP design time as described in my first post. Doing this I hoped that I could reuse GP building blocks to generate the UI for me. Except for the multiple item lines, this works.
I realize that this is different than described in the tutorial, there the VC is used as a tool to generate the UI.
Issues remains that with - as far as I see right now - the existing GP templates it is not possible to have a table in your UI.

Form with report, where some items in the form have been given values.

I have a question that maybe silly but annoying to me. I need to provide a form with report, where some items in the form have been given values automatically, and these items (display only) are supposed to show given values in the form automatically.
I used the APEX form with report. The update and delete worked well. But I cannot show automatic values when insert. By default APEX insert form makes every item null; I tried to give value for two items: P5212_USERKEY, P5212_DAILY_VER_DATE with process before header, after header, after regions and before footer, and computation, or set values of these two items in the branch when user hit create button (submit). It never worked out, the two items always displayed null value, and when I insert, I got "ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("TBSBI"."DAILYVERPRODNOTE"."USERKEY")", since I have set up constraint in database that these two columns should not be null.
Could anyone help on this? any suggestion would be appreciated.

If you have made these values 'Display Only' they would by default not save the session state. Accessing the page items will always return NULL. Did you change the 'Save Session State' option to 'Yes'?

How to generate specific # of items in tabular form from one item

Looking to display or render additional elements to a tabular form based on the number entered in a quantity field. ie. if someone orders 10 items, I would like to have 10 tabular items display on blur, so the operator can enter the data in those fields for the 10 items. Then of course I need all items processed on submit.
Is there a way to do this so the # of line items are rendered after a quantity has been entered to match or is this something that would have to be done with display values and a set number of items already on the page?

Hi Naresh,
You need to use Billing Plans for Service Contracts Scenario to create BRI items.
In the Billing Plan - you can assign whether it is a Periodic Billing or Milestone Billing. Then you need to assign this billing plan to item categories. So based on the period (monthly,quarterly,yearly) - the BRI items will be generated.
So Please try using Billing Plans for your scenario. As you mentioned earlier, you are using ECC for all Billing purposes. So the system will create one Debit Memo Request document per Contract and it will each line item for each of the BRI's in Service Contract. System will not generate one DMR per BRI item.
You can check the BRI items generated at the item level --> Billing Plan Tab page (Assignment Block in Web UI).

I created one form with one list item named "Country".. This list item shows country name for the particular employee in the employee table.I created this list item as database field. In the enter query mode i search an employee , This should act as item text.. Suppose i want to add an employee in enter query mode then i fill all the necessary fields,and
when i click "country" list item it should display all the country names from "country_tab" table..So based on the situation
this should act as list item and item text.. Can i Do this ?.. Pls help me.

I simply explain my requirement:
I want to insert data and quering data by using single form...So, I created one form with data block. This form created from employee table.I have one text item in this form named country.This is database item.
Ok ,Now the actual problem comes.I press "Enter query" in tools menu,Then enter one employee number in employee_no field.after i press
Execute query In tools menu. It shows all the details corresponding to that employee..
Note: here "country" text item also shows employees country.
Right, Now i have another requirement. In the same form I want to insert a new employee. For that
I planed to changes country text to list item [ because when insert i can easily pick up one country .it
reduces typing work ] . I have another table "COUNTRY". Using this table, i should populate country list item..
So, the country item should act as both text item [When quering] as well as list item [ When inserting ]
Is there any idea ti do this ?
If this not possible then what is the alternative ?

Searching items in InfoPath form library

Hi,
I have an Infopath form library, in which I have done the property promotion and exposed some of the columns.
I am trying for search functionality. How to search items in infopath form library? Is there any OOB webparts which can be used to display search criteria and the results. I do not have access to Central Admin, and hence cannot create Managed metadata properties,
but the columns are exposed in InfoPath form.
The infopath form has repeating table as well.
How to achieve the search in InfoPath form library?

Have you tried using contextual search for this InfoPath form library?
Please go to site setting page->Site collection ->Site Collection Administration section->Search Settings page, select the value "Show and default to contextual scope" for option "Site Collection Search Dropdown Mode",
then please go to the InfoPath form library to test the search using "This list:YourFormlibraryName" dropdown (and wait a full crawl if needed).

            there are two type of data in database table.
header data: means data will be unique, there will be single row for key fields.
like bkpf , vbak, kna1 etc these have the unique data.
and second one is line item data.
LINE ITEM DATA: That have the multiple entries regarding key fields.
like bseg, vbap etc .
when you go for coding first you take the header data from header table because that are unique then on the reference of that unique data we pick up line item data from item table by joining those two table.
for ex bkpf have unique documnet no belnr so on the basis of belnr we picked the line item data from bseg.

Dear All,
Is it possible to create items,i.e. Text items,display items etc. dynamically?
Suppose I select Table name EMP,then it must get all columns from database and place it on form.Now I change table name from EMP to DEPT,now it should get all columns for dept table and place it on same form removing all EMP table colums.I should not have to call another form,i.e. it should be strictly done through single form.

You can make a form with 10 or more items (depends on the maximum number of the columns you have) and place them in a non base table block. Then you populate the block with a cursor and if you press a button you can populate the same block with another cursor making visible only the columns you need.

You can create a trigger(when-list-changed) for each list item where you could:
1.recreate the record groups and then use POPULATE_LIST so you can hide the selected values. In forms builder online help there are some good examples about create record groups dynamically.
or
2.you can perform a validation instead of hiding the selected values. If the values is already selected the display a message 'Value already selected....'
Second option is much faster(only an 'if clause')

Case insensitive query on a CLOB item

i have this problem...
i have a table which contains a CLOB column
in my form i have a block based on this table.
i noticed that when i query the form on the clob item , it doesn't accept the case insensitive query property.
(so if i query %AA% the form doesn't show 'Aa' or the 'aa')

Forms is not really instrumented to query clobs directly. Google "oracle forms and clob" to see some suggestions on how to handle clobs in Forms

I have a repeating frame in this frame 3 items which are repeating 3 times Now is that possible that repeating frame repeat these item only one time.

How to use item displayed as password

I'm trying to use a item displayed as password but when i'm trying to insert the password value in the database with the an insert it gives a error that the fiel is empty
Error adding record. / ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("APEX_SCHEMA"."TB_HOSTS"."PASS")and i'm getting the password item as i do with user and telefone.
Anyone can help with this?

Are you sure you don't have some process to clear the session state before the DML operation.
I just did to check:
create table hosts (id NUMBER, usern varchar2(200), passw varchar2(200));
create new page -> Form -> specify the table to create form on
change password item from text to password
test -> no problem.
