Close-captioning Adobe Connect pre-recorded webcast

As part of a larger project, for 508 compliance I need to add closed captions to some Adobe Connect informational webinars that are posted on a federal government website.
I am familiar with creating closed caption files for video and have ability to save timed captions in many different formats.
I have not captioned before for Adobe Connect.
What type file do I need to deliver to client to add the captioning to their posted webcasts?

If the webcast hasn't happened, then you can have them use the Closed Captioning pod which can use a Closed Captioning service and the captions should also play back as part of the recording.
If the webcast has happened and you are looking to add captions to the recording, I think the only real option is to make, or have them make, and off-line FLV version of the webcast which could then be treated as a video file that needs captioning added to it. I don't know of a reasonable way to add captions to the source files of a Connect recording.

  • How do I link to an Adobe Connect webinar recording?

What is the correct procedure for linking to a recorded Adobe Connect webinar from within Captivate 6? We have a URL to the webinar we did but it does not work using the video link tools in Captivate 6.

    hi carlozezza,
    here's how i do it:
    • create your button. This can be anything form text, graphic, image to a photoshop .psd
    • on the second line of tools at the top of your muse document, look for "Hyperlinks:" this is in blue to indicate it's a drop down menu
    • on it's drop down, select "Open link in a new browser or tab" this will make it easy for people to get back your website
    • next to the "Hyperlinks:" the is a field that says "Add or filter links"
    • type in your external website URL address in that field
    • note, it must have the http:// befor the URL to work
    hope this helps

  • Close Captioning//Adobe not exporting on line 21

    Hello,
My company is attempting to trouble shoot some close captioning issues that seem to occur within Adobe premiere. All source material captioning resides on line 21 (source tape, Quicktime files). We are exporting MXF OP1as files for the playback server through media encoder. Our engineer can look on a scope at the finished file and show us that the captioning is now on line 20 (odd) . We have attempted to run the original capture files (MOV) through mac caption to attach them to line 21. Ill import the SCC files and place them on top of my video, and still the media encoder export moves the captioning to line 20. Our workflow mandates that that caption stay on line 21. The export settings are 720x486//29.97//upper field first.  We are using Adobe Premiere CC 8.1
We have a call into adobe support but so far they have not been able to resolve this issue. Figured id post to the forums and see if anyone has any ideas.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Richard,
Update @ Richard M Knight- If you're referring to Lower field first.....The Codec we are using IMX 30 NTSC will not allow the field to be changed in media encoder. Although i can set the field under timeline settings, once its set to the encoder it is not  changeable setting, even when creating a preset. Good idea, but we already tried that one in house

  • Adobe Connect meeting recording crashes Flash Player 11.6

This issue apparently appeared in Flash Player 11.4 and was fixed in 11.5:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/kb/connect-recording-playback-issues-flash.html
But has resurfaced.  The meeting recordings were made with Adobe Connect Server 8.2, and include screen sharing that needs to be recorded.
I've downgraded Flash Player to 11.5 on one machine, 11.3 on another and am attempting to make offline recordings of the meeting on both, which I can hopefully distribute to users.
I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem, and what other workarounds they may have used.

Sure thing, and thanks for your response.
I just tried the 11.7 beta, and it exhibits the same behavior.  I have in fact tried a few different versions of Flash Player (and of the Connect Add-In) today to see what would happen.
With Flash Player 11.6 and 11.7, the meeting recording playback crashes immediately as soon as screen sharing begins (the meeting will play back fine otherwise, it's just whenever a screen sharing pod becomes active that this happens.)
In Flash Player 11.5 and 11.3, this immediate crash does not happen, however at (seemingly) random intervals (~3 minutes, ~7 minites, ~17 minutes, ~20 minutes) the *screen sharing* pod will "stall", while the rest of the meeting continues to play back.  (By "stall" I mean that activity in the screen share freezes, a spinning indicator appears over this pod and cycles indefinitely.  Meanwhile other activity in the meeting continues to play back - audio, chat, etc.)
I didn't try 11.4, which apparently introduced the immediate crash bug that I see in 11.6 and 11.7 beta.

  • Adobe Connect 8: Recording Pausing after 32 Minutes

    Hi,
We have a Recording which references a PPT file from user's Content area. There are 71 Slides in the PPT. They played fine in the live event. But in the Recording the playback pauses after minute 32. No amount of going forward or backward can make the Slides to play once the playbar touches or exceeds minute 32. In fact, if I manually advance to beyond minute 32 then the entire playback stops and I have to reload the Recording to make it work.
I have checked the PPT file and it looks fine. The Recording time itself is 1:28 (h:min). Strange thing is that beyond minute 32 the playbar continues to move along on autoplay and chat and audio show up fine but the slides don't change. Using Firefox's Firebug there is no more 'get' command after Slide 31.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    Irfan

We use the hosted version of Connect and when we upgraded to v9, we also had alot of issues - especially with audio not working. While we worked with the Adobe support engineers to fix this, we setup a computer and used Screenflow to record our weekly live classes. I hope you can get your issues fixed soon!

  • Adobe connect pro and SCORM

    Hi All,
I have created one SCORM 1. 2 package as per ADL Standards. This package has mulitple sco's.I want to know will this package run in Adobe connect pro with out any changes.
    Regards,
    Basker D

Adobe Connect is not SCORM compliant.  Adobe Connect uses AICC.  If you are interested in using SCORM content see this posting as a way to do that:
    http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/01/scorm_tracking/
Here is a SCORM to Adobe Connect Captivate recording:
    http://www.connectusers.com/tutorials/2009/01/scorm_tracking/SCORMtoConnect_samples/SCORMt oConnect_Walkthrough/SCORMtoConnect_Walkthrough.htm
The AICC standard uses an HTTP-POST for communicating data between content and an LMS.  The SCORM standard uses Javascript to communicate much of the same data.
Note:  Adobe Connect Pro follows the AICC standard for its communication mechanism

  • Add Captions to a Recorded Adobe Connect Meeting

We have several archived meetings using Adobe Connect that we'd like to belatedly add closed captions to for when people view these at home.  Is there an easy way to do this via Adobe Connect, or will we need to download the file and add the CC ourselves and then host that file somewhere else?  The CC Pod appears to only be for adding CC during the broadcast itself.
    Thank you

Make an offline version (FLV) and then load the FLV into the Share pod. Other than that, no, there is not a way to play back a meeting recording within a meeting room.
As an alternative, I do convert meeting recordings to Presenter Presentations, using the audio from the live meeting and the PPT deck that was shared. It's not the most time efficient process, but yields a better result than converting the recording to FLV. It also provides better editing capabilities.

  • Closed Captioning with Adobe Presenter 10 and pre-recorded audio

I'm working with Presenter 10. Pre-recorded narration has been imported. The script text has been copied into the notes section of PowerPoint. The audio plays fine in the flash file. When I click CC the closed captioning highlight moves through the text but it is not in sync with audio. Is there a way to manually adjust the movement of the highlighting so that that it is in sync with the audio? If not, is there some other way to get pre-recorded narration to be in sync with the original script?
    Thanks!

After HOURS on the phone with Adobe people and them being completely useless i finally figure out why i am getting crashes when hitting record.
Presenter 10 doesnt work with Multi Monitor Setups (at least some of them)
Im not sure if anyone else has multi monitors and uses Presenter successfully but that was why mine crashes.
This amazes me quite honestly...Powerpoint by nature is designed to support 2 screens...1 for the presentation and 1 for the controls...for Presenter 10 to not support such a basic thing is absurd.
Come on Adobe you have been through 10 versions of Presenter and you cant get this right?
This is like removing the start bar from Windows!!!

  • Close Captioning in Adobe Connect?

What is the process for close captioning in AC? How does it work? I am using version 9. I found the page on Adobe site to download the pod at http://www.adobe.com/products/adobeconnect/feature-details/closed-captioning.html. What next?
    Thanks.

The key is that you need someone to provide the captioning.
I can tell you what we do. We use Caption Colorado to provide the actual captioning during the event.
Share Pod - Share document - Upload the Caption Pod
Under configuation, we choose Caption Colorado and use the Meeting ID we get from them after we schedule the captioning.

  • Adobe Connect 9 Meeting Recording Playback & Audio

    Hello All,
I have noticed a strange issue with my meeting recording playbacks.
    First Adobe Connect 9.0.2
    Windows 7 Platform
I have noticed that after the recording is over, and I run playback to confirm we got what we need...the connected telephone feed (pgi/centurylink) does not come through on first press of play.
The video stream (slides, screen share) will run properly, but there is no sound upon first press of play. If I click the scrubber and drag it back to the open, then the audio will start to play.
I am ok with this work around...however my learners/audience will not be. I am looking for "Press Play and Listen" functionality to keep it simple.
A curious note (these are often good clues, so I figured I would share) The MP3 player pod which is running in the lobby prior to the start of the speaker, is PC sound and it plays back in the recording with no issue. It is only when the telephone feed starts (layout change, and speaker introduction) that the issue begins.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

As I understand it, it is on the road map for Adobe. Though I've not heard anything other than rumors, so more information would be hard to provide.
I don't know of any third party extensions, other than using something like Camtasia or another screen capture tool.

  • Adobe connect 9.3 pdf & ppt recording problem

i have adobe connect 9.3 and 9.1.2 on premise
i installed in my own server
my problem is the ppt and pdf in share pod does not show in the recording .
any thing show well in recording but when i share pdf or ppt in the share pod it does not appear in the recording and share pod remain blank in recording
    what is the issue ?
    thank you

That suggestion makes sense and likely works, but only if the user is on a machine that will allow them to use Reader. I'm sending this out to a lot of teachers, who are using machines either at school, or are school-issued machines, and they don't have the admin privileges to install software-- even Reader.
so my problem is, if they are stuck on a machine without Reader, and without the possibility of having Reader... it's just not going to work because Preview can't handle these functions.
And, since that is not an acceptable answer with what I'm trying to do... I will find another way to create/submit forms. I think there are some online possibilities I will have to make work.
    very, very disappointing and frustrating.

  • Adobe Connect 9 on premises: how to give public access to a meeting recording?

We are using Adobe Connect 9 Pro on premises.  We record meetings.  Is there any way to make the meeting available to public viewers without forcing a logon?  Thanks.

    Sameer,
Thanks very much for your offer.  Here is a link, and I believe it will ask you to log in:

  • Recording control with the Adobe Connect mobile ap

In the Adobe Connect mobile ap, I do not see that it allows you to start (and end) the meeting recording?  This is one critical hosting feature that I do not see supported. Am I missing it?

More host functions are expected to to be available in future releases of the Connect Mobile app. As of now, I don't believe there is the ability to start/stop recordings in the mobile app.

  • Viewing video recording that I have downloaded off of Adobe Connect 8

    Good Day
I have an Adobe Connect recording (of a training that took place), that I want to make available off line. I can view the recording via Adobe's Media player but the learners do not have the media player.
I then went to Adobe's Website to download the latest version. On the home page (middle right), one can see a section "Download", I clicked the "More" button (to the right of "Download"), but nothing.
I eventually found info on Adobe's Media Player, BUT it is not good i.e. it says that they do not support it anymore.
That is a bummer.... where to from here? How do I get my learners to view an FLV file?
Then to make matters worse I opened the video clip in Adobe Premeir only to find out that it does not import the audio. I then imported it into Adobe Media Encoder (to convert it to a wmv). No luck. It seems to leave the audio out all the time.
Anybody out there able to answer these two questions?
    Dimitri

You can easily go to Adobe Connect Central and access the recordings page for the room that was used to make the recording. You can then select make offline. Once you select that Adobe Connect Host Add-in will launch and will require that the entire meeting be played. While it is playing it is making a local copy on your local hard drive as a single FLV file. That FLV file can be played using Adobe Media Player that comes with the Adobe Creative Suite. You can also play FLV files with many free players by using Google to search for free FLV players. Your choose on that. The other option is to use file converters from FLV to any other format you desire. There are free video file converters and some for pay. Your choice on that one. Again...Google search for video converters. I convert from FLV to MOV or AVI or M4V all the time. Then you can send out the video file in any format that matches your customer/student player.

  • Close window not working when publishing as HTML5 on Adobe Connect using CP8

    Hi all,
I'm trying to get a button that closes the project/window at the end of a video. I am using CP8.
I can get it to work when publishing as SWF to Adobe Captivate.
It also works when publishing as HTML5 but not on an LMS (Adobe Connect).
I have tried various methods including
    - On success execute a Javascript =  window.close()
    - On success - exit
    - On success execute advanced action = Assign cpCmdExit with 1
I also tried adjusting the slide settings On Exit: exit and the publishing settings Project End Options: Action: Close project.
    Nothing works.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Aimee

    Hi Aimee,
Can you test this to close the course window:
Insert 2 buttons or smart shape used as buttons (as Finish course buttons).
On the first button apply an action to execute javascript and in the script window, use this script: parent.close()
On the second button apply an action to execute javascript and in the script window, use this script: top.window.close()
Upload the published project on your LMS and check if any of these works for you.
    Thanks
    Himanshu
