Close child window and refresh parent
Hi there,
I am hoping someone can help me in my quest to complete a
store that I am working on.
On my checkout page is a link to select a different address,
up pops a window with a list of available addresses. The user
presses a radio button to select the address, the form get
submitted to an ASP page that has a command on it, the command
completes...this is as far as I am. I want the popped up window to
close and refresh/reload the page it popped up from. Does this make
any sense?
I am useless at Javascript, can anyone advice me the best
route to take? I only need pointers to start googling, at the
moment I am at a loss.

Ortonyou have your popup window. When they apply the changes you want it to close the window, right?
Modify the button (save, apply changes) and give it url redirect to the custom function you create (See below): javascript:saveChanges();
in the page header, add a new function:

However createing a modal window (with javascript) would mean that the user can not use the parent window untill he closes the child window. However not sure if this is what you are searching.
Otherwise you can detect the onClose (I think) and close the window from there.
However both the above are JavaScript and not JSP.

not sure what you mean here but a child window cant 'lose' its parent. If the parent dies/doesn't exist the same happens for the child.

Can anyone please help me the javascript issue.
I have a button which opens up a pop window and when this popup window is opened i want to disable the parent window and enable it when i close the popup window.

I have a problem with this modal window approach and I have noticed. The thing is I am able to open up a popup window which is a simple data entry form. In this form i have the button Create which calls a javascript function and then an pl/sql insert process.
Below is the javascript function for the button create

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick. First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it. Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy... When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.
It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again. -
The headline pretty much sums up my problem. Basically, I picked a few different animated themes to try out in the Add-Ons section to personalize my browser window. They look great initially, and in the window that is open when I actually enable the theme. However, if I close that window and open a new one, the theme is stationary and no longer animates.
Sorry......I was just too impulsive. ( Maybe because it was 4 AM at Taiwan, and I was still trying to solve the problem= = )
Although to install the add-on "Personas Shuffler" can solve the problem to me, I don't think it was the BEST solution. This evening, I read why the add-on "Personas Shuffler" was made, and found that the BEST solution is:
1. Open a new tab, and type "about:config" at the URL bar, then search for "lightweightthemes" with the filter.
2. Change the values of "lightweightThemes.persisted.footerURL" and "lightweightThemes.persisted.headerURL" from true to false( by double click on them).
3. After doing so, restart Firefox and you will see it works! You don't have to install any add-on. -

(Mountain Lion) suddenly the screen turns black, and I have to use the on/off switch to turn it on. And, the screen turns to zoom, and the only way to return to normal is to close the window and start all over again?
Does the screen go black while you are using the machine? ...or after it has sat idle for a bit?
If it happens while you're using the machine, check to see if a hot corner has been set for sleep. You can do that here: System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver and click the button labelled "Hot Corners..." in the lower right.
If it happens after a bit of idle time, that's normal sleep behavior. The delay can be adjusyed here: System Preferences > Energy Saver.
In either case, pressing any key on the keyboard should bring it out of sleep.
Re zooming -
If this happens while in Safari, and you are using an Apple Magic Mouse, a default setting applicable to it is that a soft double-tap on the mouse will zoom the Safari window. A second double-tap will bring it back.
If it is the entire screen that is zooming, Control plus scroll gesture on the mouse will zoom the whole screen. Repeat with the opposite scroll gesture to bring it back. -

This is a rather peculiar problem.

How to close child windows at logout?
I was wondering how i can ensure that when a user loggs out,
any related open child windows from that session are automaticaaly
closed. The Application is written in ASP VBscript.
Basically the user can logout two ways, either by clicking on
the logout link or by closing the browser window. For the latter
what i did was to create an even for the "onUnload" event of the
browser. So when the user closes the window, it will also logg the
user out.
Now i also wanted to automatically close any child windows
that the user may have opened when he either loggs out or closes
the browser window. How can I accomplish that without prompting the
user that the window is about to close?
B.T.W. I use the
window.open method to open the child windows, using either
javascript or vbscript.Hi, I have no idea how to do this is JSP.
However createing a modal window (with javascript) would mean that the user can not use the parent window untill he closes the child window. However not sure if this is what you are searching.
Otherwise you can detect the onClose (I think) and close the window from there.
However both the above are JavaScript and not JSP.
