Cloudscape port conflict

Hi,
I just installed J2EE 1.3.1 on a solaris machine and was able to start J2EE server successfully. However, when
I issue
cloudscape -start
it produces the following run-time error:

My question is: how do I change the port settings in cloudscape?

Hi,
the documentation describes in detail how to change the ports used by Cloudscape.

  • OVM Manager w 2nd NIC = A port conflict was detected in the server config

    Greetings,
    ENV: Oracle VM 3.1.1.544.
    Issue: We had to add/setup a second interface/NIC on a second subnet on Oracle VM Manager. Now, when ovmm is started, we get: <A port conflict was detected in the server configuration. The server is configured to listen on two ports that have the same port number and IP address. Channel "https" address "https://fe80:0:0:0:26b6:fdff:fec8:f4b1:7002" conflicts with channel "https" address "https://fe80:0:0:0:26b6:fdff:fec8:f4b1:7002".>
    BEA Docs (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/messages/Server.html)
    BEA-002633: Emergency: A port conflict was detected in the server configuration. The server is configured to listen on two ports that have the same port number and IP address. Channel "channel1" address "url" conflicts with channel "channel2" address "url".
    Action: Please ensure that the address identities [ListenAddress and ListenPort combinations] are distinct and unique.
    Would you happen to know which file, (i.e. config.xml), and which lines (i.e. <listen-address>) we need to edit, with the correct syntax to add a second IP address/subnet to our WebLogic server?
    Thank you in advance for your support!
    Regards,
    Roddy

    Thank you for your support!
    1. What version of Linux? OL 62 x64
    2. Have you set a separate DNS name for the second interface IP? No, although we are using/setup dnsmasq on the second interface/eth3 to dish up DNS on the private network. DNS name resolutions works like a charm on the private vlan.
    3. Do you still have a single default route or are you trying to use more than one? The second interface is in a private unroutable network. the front end network/NIC eth0 is routable and on a public network.
    Public/Private Network Setup:
    * Public network with oracle vm manager on eth0/10.4.x.x. This is how we access the ovm manager GUI, and ssh to manager, and via manager ssh to the dom0s. The dom0s are on private nonroutable networks available via the manager host's eth3.
    * Private networks accessible via the oracle vm manager host eth3/802.1q/VLAN xxx. this is the server management network channel, this vlan is not routable. We have two other vlans, i.e. heartbeat and live migration, both also not routable.
    Thoughts?

  • Cloudscape port config on j2ee 1.4beta

    i am trying to configure the cloudscape port. i've seen lots of docs about how to do this with 1.3 but i can't quite figure it out for 1.4beta.
    here's what i've done:
    1: change bin/launcher.xml. it now has a
    <arg line="-port 1098"/>
    in cloudscape-start target
    2: <value="jdbc:rmi://localhost:1098/jdbc:cloudscape:"/>
    in cloudscape-stop target
    3: ..key="ij.protocol" value="jdbc:rmi://localhost:1098/jdbc:cloudscape"
    ...key="ij.database"
    value="jdbc:rmi://localhost:1098/jdbc:cloudscape:CloudscapeDB;create=true"
    in cloudscape-isql target.
    4: change config/server-config.xml so all of its cloudscape url's point to jdbc:cloudscape:rmi://localhost:1098/CloudscapeDB
    it seems to startup cloudscape ok on 1098, but when running "setup deploy", the appserver can't connect to cloudscape. i get the suspicion that it's still looking on the default port=1099 because when i run cloudscape -isql it says its using the default url, not the one i had specified in the launcher.xml file.
    how can i be positive that cloudscape is running on 1098?
    (i just use netstat -noa to check for ports in use, but this doesn't guarantee that it is succesfully installed).
    where does the server get the db url, if not from the above metioned 2 files? i'm stuck...
    thanks,
    derek.

    Could someone suggest a solution for this problem. I am trying to do the same thing and am getting stuck. What I am trying to do is this :
    1) Run Cloudscape on a different port (2001) instead of 1099.
    2) Change the J2EE server configuration by modifying resource.properties file so that the DB source is now rmi://localhost:2001/CloudscapeDB
    3) The J2EE server starts up fine.
    4) However when I try to deploy the PetStore application, there is an exception saying that connection refused.
    So if someone has been able to successfully deploy the petstore application on clouldscape running at a different port than 1099 (default), could you send some suggestions.
    Thanks,

  • AEBS port conflict? Intermittent problem connecting to Gracenote CDDB

    Hi all,
    I posted a similar question in the iTunes forum, but the more I troubleshoot, the more I think this is an AEBS issue.
    Whilst importing CDs into iTunes, I've had difficulty getting the track listing. I've switched WiFi connections (borrowing my neighbour's) and this resolves the problem. Unfortunately, this means I'm not operating on my local network, which is not acceptable.
    Still on my AEBS, I make repeated attempts, until finally I'm able to connect to CDDB and get the tracklisting.
    What's causing this? I wonder if there's a port conflict that I need to address. Any ideas?
    Steve

    Hiya,
    Resetting the AEBS gave me a temporary reprieve, but it's failing to connect to Gracenote CDDB again.
    I tried unplugging a VoIP gateway which is connected to the same router, but no difference. Also unplugged an AirPort Express which I use for AirTunes.
    Anyone else had similar difficulty with CDDB??

  • Oracle ApplicationServer 10g Port Conflict Error

    Hi,
    We had installed both the Database & Application Server 10g on a Single Machine When we restart the system & tried to Opmnctl Startall its says no port Available.XML files say port range is 10000- as specified in Oracle AS Installation guide.
    I think it is of Port Conflict can someone help me to resolve.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Viswa

    Wich version and type of OAS you install?
    maybe problem could be
    the listener.
    or ons port.
    if is the first.
    change the listener.ora of the app server, and change the tnsnames.ora
    if is the second
    edit the opmn.xml and change the reques, remote and local port, just ad one to the port.
    Regards.

  • Oc4j, jdeveloper and apache, port conflicts ?

    Hi all,
    I am currently in the process of deploying my first EJB on Oracle 9i AS.
    I have successfully installed oc4j.zip and set the login credentials.
    I am however, unable to connect to the index page of the OC4J server from any computer besides the server.
    My URL is http://prams_nt_03:6666 and this works on the server. The reason for it being 6666 is that I have changed it to avoid conflicts with the oc4j server. I have changed it in the default-web-site.xml file. There is a danger of conflict because I want to access the OC4J server behind Apache.
    I have also created the oc4j.conf file, which httpd.conf looks at :
    <IfModule mod_proxy.c>
    ProxyRequests On
    ProxyPass /servlet/ http://prams_nt_03:6666/servlet/
    ProxyPassReverse /servlet/ http://prams_nt_03:6666/servlet/
    </IfModule>
    Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I need to do ? Maybe I need to specify somewhere else that I am using port 6666 ?
    Also, another point is that I am unable to deploy from JDeveloper, the connection test to the application server fails with the error message : Disconnected.
    My server is Win NT sp6, my AS is 1.0.2.2.2a.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    Hiya Debu,
    1) Are OHS and OC4J running on the same server ?
    - Yes, along with 9i DB rel 1
    2) What ports are used by OHS and OC4J ?
    The ports are 8888 for both, I have removed the setting for the OC4j Server, which means the OC4J server is not working behind Apache.
    3) Can you go to OC4J's homepage directly i.e. http://myhost:6666 ?
    I cannot go using hostname, but can using I.P address
    4) Can you go to OHS (aka Apache)'s homepage directly ?
    Yes, using I.P and hostname
    5) Do you get any errors during startup of OC4J or OHS ? You will an error port already in use error when a port is used by someone else ?
    None that I can think of.
    I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it could be a DNS problem ! I will configure that now. Thanks for your help, you're a star !

  • Firewire ports conflict with sound settings.

    Hi, Peculiar problem. My sound suddenly switched to being internal speaker only, even though I have decklink HD Extreme card and was using it as my audio output the night before. Narrowed the problem down to anything being plugged in to the firewire ports - FW400 and FW800 ports and drives or even my Mini DV deck. When I plug anything into the firewire ports, trying to get to the sound settings in system preferences hangs, and all sound will only work on the internal speaker. This is a sudden problem and leaves me only being able to plug in esata external hard drives. There is some sort of conflict going on somewhere. Can anybody help?

    Trying to install a color Okidata printer.  I'm told by Oki tech support that I need a scrubber from HP to clear ports and then install okidata driver first, before any HP drivers.  Where do I get this scrubber.  I used to have an HP 1200.  Using Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion desktop.

  • Apparent port conflict using LCDS with JBoss

    Hi,<br />I am somewhat new to this so please bear with me.  On my server I have lcds installed and sample.war working in JBoss 4.0.5.  I have written a datatier in Java against PostgreSQL 8.x and am writing simple mxml programs to test it.  I have had some success with this. All of the new code is installed in a copy of samples.war because I do not understand the configuration files well enough to toss the examples out.  My latest problem is that my recent versions of the war file get this error in my JBoss log file:<br />Exception in thread "RTMP-Server" <br />flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.RTMPException: The RTMP server has encountered a fatal exception starting up: Address already in use<br />     at flex.messaging.endpoints.rtmp.BaseNIORTMPServer.run(BaseNIORTMPServer.java:317)<br />     at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)<br />The port specified in the services-config.xml in my war is 2038, and I see JBoss also has an identical services-config.xml at:<br /> <jboss root>/server/default/flex/WEB-INF/flex.  <br />Has anyone else seen this?  Do I just need to change the port?  In both places?  Or is there something else I need to do?<br />Thanks!

    Robert,
    Thanks for responding. Here is my Ant script, comments and all.

    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <project default="main" >
    <!-- basedir. Hmm. we could actually put this Ant script IN THE ROOT of the sbda eclipse project, as it is mapped to svn.
    Then we could have a separate script that checks out all of that stuff from svn, cd's to the root of the checked out
    code, then runs Ant. In that case the basedir IS ".", because it is all run relative to wherever that checked out
    code will lives. This also gets this script into ANT, which is a safe place for it.
    So where does the 'first' script live? We have to use it before we check out from svn...
    And what about the php code to handle uploads, sb_upload.php? For now that is separate, not directly in svn.
    At least until we can get the eclipse for php to also use Subclipse.
    Note: we also need to do a plain vanilla copy of the WEB-INF from basedir to the war dir. We do NOT wish
    to create the WEB-INF from scratch!!

    Or there could be a firewall

    Instead of telling us your interpretation of what you think you did, try showing us what you actually have.  Copy and paste from a command line prompt are a beautiful thing, but only if you actually use them.

    BTW, it would be really helpful if you would go to your profile and give yourself a recognizable name.  It doesn't have to be your real name, just something that looks like a real name.  Who says my name is really Ed Stevens?  But at least when people see that on a message they have a recognizable identity.  Unlike the system generated name of 'ed0f625b-6857-4956-9b66-da280b7cf3a2', which is like going to the pub with a bag over your head.
