Clustering Standalone Java on  AMD64 bit machine

Folks,
I am installing a standalone Java in an MSCS environment. Acc to the document from SAP, it specifies to use sapinst product_ha.catalog from either I386 (32 bit) or IA64 (64 bit) installation CD. It does not mention anything for an AMD64 bit machine. The file product_ha.catalog is not available in the installation CD for AMD64. The process I was going to follow was to cluster only the SCS instance and install CI as non clustered. Has anyone clustered their Java instance on an AMD64 bit machine? Please help.
Thanks,
Fahad

Hi,
I ran into same problem. No product_ha.catalog file in SAPINST\NT\AMD64 directory.
I would be very thankful if someone found an answer to this

  • SetDiagnosticDirectory(Diagnostics.java:54) [32-bit java on 64-bit machine]

    On 64-bit LucidLynx Linux, If I run Oracle SQL Developer using 64 bit java, all is fine.
    If I use 32-bit java, it doesn't start up and I get this fatal error:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot create <pwd>/?/.sqldeveloper/system1.5.5.59.69/o.ide/diagnostics
         at oracle.javatools.logging.Diagnostics.setDiagnosticDirectory(Diagnostics.java:54)
         at oracle.ide.IdeCore.startupImpl(IdeCore.java:1293)
    <pwd> represents the current directory that I am in. That question mark appears as is.
    If I run this as `sudo`, it works, cause it gets past the "permissions" problem. (but that's a red herring).
    It should be trying to create the ".sqldeveloper/..." directory under my home directory, not in the present
    working directory, and certainly not with a question mark as another directory name.
    It appears that when using the 32 bit java (on a 64 bit machine), that whatever function
    Oracle is using/spawning to determine the user and its
    home directory, is failing, and the code just says, plop the diagnostics directory right here.
    How does one debug this?
    (I tried running `jdb` but setting break points doesn't seem to have an effect)
    ( Aside: on a 32-bit LucidLynx Linux machine, using 32-bit java, SQL Developer works fine.
    I have all the necessary 32-bit libs, as we use 32-bit Java on 64 bit machines for other apps as well.)

    I'm pretty new to java and this is the first
    first time i'm making a post here. I want to know, if
    i write a java program in a 32 bit environment will
    the same code work in a 64 bit Environment too. Does
    java abstract the architecture too?Only if there's a JVM available for the target environment.
    Note for example that Sun supports 64 bit AMD processors but not Intel. But when they do your Java code will work without changes.

  • How to insert message in OC4J JMS from standalone java client.

    Hi,
    I have been following available examples for creating standalone java clients to insert messages in JMS queues.
    I am able to insert using java client when the SOA suite and the standalone java code are on same machine.
    package producerconsumerinjava;
    import javax.jms.*;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    public class QueueProducer
    public static void main(String[] args)
    String queueName = "jms/demoQueue";
    String queueConnectionFactoryName = "jms/QueueConnectionFactory";
    Context jndiContext = null;
    QueueConnectionFactory queueConnectionFactory = null;
    QueueConnection queueConnection = null;
    QueueSession queueSession = null;
    Queue queue = null;
    QueueSender queueSender = null;
    TextMessage message = null;
    int noMessages = 5;
    * Set the environment for a connection to the OC4J instance
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "oc4jadmin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "mypass");
    env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"ormi://myserver.company.com:12402"); //12402 is the rmi port
    * Set the Context Object.
    * Lookup the Queue Connection Factory.
    * Lookup the JMS Destination.
    try
    jndiContext = new InitialContext(env);
    queueConnectionFactory =
    (QueueConnectionFactory) jndiContext.lookup(queueConnectionFactoryName);
    queue = (Queue) jndiContext.lookup(queueName);
    catch (NamingException e)
    System.out.println("JNDI lookup failed: " + e.toString());
    System.exit(1);
    * Create connection.
    * Create session from connection.
    * Create sender.
    * Create text message.
    * Send messages.
    * Send non text message to end text messages.
    * Close connection.
    try
    queueConnection = queueConnectionFactory.createQueueConnection();
    queueSession =
    queueConnection.createQueueSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    queueSender = queueSession.createSender(queue);
    message = queueSession.createTextMessage();
    for (int i = 0; i < noMessages; i++)
    message.setText("Message " + (i + 1));
    System.out.println("Producing message: " + message.getText());
    queueSender.send(message);
    queueSender.send(queueSession.createBytesMessage());
    catch (JMSException e)
    System.out.println("Exception occurred: " + e.toString());
    finally
    if (queueConnection != null)
    try
    queueConnection.close();
    catch (JMSException e)
    System.out.println("Closing error: " + e.toString());
    But when the SOA Suite is remote, I am struggling to get the settings correct
    Till now, here is what I have figured out from looking at blogs/tars etc on the Net:
    1. I need to use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory instead of RMIInitialContextFactory (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14101_01/doc.1013/e13975/jndi.htm)
    2. The project should have a META-INF/application-client.xml file, which may be dummy (http://www.wever.org/java/space/Oracle/JmsTar1). Question is, my code is there in a single absolutely standalone code..how I can use this application-client.xml and where it has to be placed.
    Errors:
    When trying to run exact same code on local server that tries to enqueue JMS on remotee serverer
    Exception occurred: javax.jms.JMSException: Unable to create a connection to "xxxxxxx.yyyyyy01.dev.com/10.42.456.11:12,602" as user "null".
    Any help is greatly welcome.
    As an exercise, I copied this complete code on the server and then ran locally using a telnet client...it worked. So the problem is coming when accessing the server remotely.
    Rgds,
    Amit

    1. I need to use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory instead of RMIInitialContextFactoryNot necessarily.
    2. The project should have a META-INF/application-client.xml fileThat's only necessary if going the ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory route.
    There are two types of JMS client applications you can write -- a pure/plain Java app, and an "AppClient". That first is your everyday run-of-the-mill Java application, nothing special. That latter is a special, complicated beast that tries to act as a part of the whole client/server/J2EE architecture which provides you with a semi-managed environment. Either can be made to work, but if all you need is JMS access (using plain OC4J JMS factory/queue names and not JMS Connector names), then the first is easier to get working (and performs a tiny bit better as well due to being a lighter-weight solution).
    I think the problem you are having might be: When you use the plain Java client solution, you do not have any type of management, and that includes user management. With no user management (and if the JMS server is not configured to allow anonymous connections) you need to include the username and password in the call to createConnection. (I think it may be that this is actually true in the AppClient case as well -- I avoid using the AppClient model as much as possible so my memory there is weaker.)
    If you prefer to go the AppClient route, I would point you to a demo I wrote which had a functioning example, but Oracle seems to have removed it (and all of the 10.1.3 demos?) from OTN. :-(
    Hmm, it seems to still be available on the wayback machine:
    http://web.archive.org/web/20061021064014/www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/index.html
    (Just look down the page for "With OEMS JMS (In-Memory and File-Based)" -- there is an .html document with info, and there is a .zip file with source code.)
    Question is, my code is there in a single absolutely standalone code..how I can use this application-client.xml and where it has to be placed.The app client in my demo had the following directory structure:
    myjavaclient.class
    jndi.properties
    META-INF\MANIFEST.MF
    META-INF\application-client.xml
    META-INF\orion-application-client.xml
    When you use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory I think it just looks under .\META-INF for the .xml files.

    Two issues now
    1) How do I get rid of weblogic from my machine manually so that I can do fresh install of 10.3.5?
    2) How do I confirm if it is completely removed because after doing the complete SOA suite installation process, JDeveloper throws me errors that it is not compatible with 10.3.6
    Appreciate your help in this regard

    Hi
    I am glad your original issue is resolved. For this new SOA installation, you can post a new thread and preferably in SOA Forums and not here in WLS Forums for quicker response: SOA Suite
    1. To begin with, looks like you have a 64 bit machine, so I would recommend first to install 64 bit JDK. Then install Weblogic using weblogic generic installer (.jar). This means if you already have WLS installed using .exe, you may have to delete that and start over.
    2. Worst case even if you want to continue as it is (32 bit), the location of java is kind of not ok having a space in one of the folder names like "Program Files". And is this java installed by you or did it came with machine and if so. If came with machine it will be older version.
    I would recommend, uninstall existing JDK and install fresh latest JDK in a path something like shown below that do not have any spaces:
    1. C:\Oracle\Java\jdk1.6.0_24_64Bit = Will have JDK 64 bit
    2. C:\Oracle\Middleware116BPM = Will have WLS 10.3.6. Here you install SOA later on
    3. C:\Oracle\Middleware\Jdeveloper116 = Will have JDeveloper 11.6 installed here.
    Now, coming to your actual installation error, do NOT use this command "setup -jreLoc %JAVA_HOME%". Instead just double click on Setup.exe or open a dos window, navigate to that folder and just type setup.exe. The point is do not give -jreLoc. NOW it will prompt to enter full JDK Path. Here you carefuly type full jdk path something like this "C:\Oracle\Java\jdk1.6.0_24_32Bit" (this is on my side...). It should work now.
    Caution. While installing any oracle software do not use folder names with spaces. Like c:\Program Files\ etc. Spaces in folder names may be an issue. So avoid that.
    Since you are starting all this fresh, I would recommend doing it in the right and correct way to avoid any future issues. It may take few hours of extra time that is totally worth.

  • How to get Portal user from a standalone Java application

    Hi,
    I have a standalone Java application from where I need to fetch the Portal User Information like userid and email id.
    I am using the below line of code
    iUser = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID("e017939");
    I have included the jar file com.sap.security.api , But it was giving me the below exception
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/tc/logging/Location
         at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:55)
         at com.am.wcas.java.mailscheduler.kmaccess.FetchDataFromKM.getiUser(FetchDataFromKM.java:29)
         at com.am.ScheduleEmails.main(ScheduleEmails.java:89)
    and I am getting a pop Up message from the Java Virtual Machine Launcher, saying a Fatal Exception has occured and the Program will exit.
    Then I went throught he SDN threads and they asked me to include the
    logging.jar and com.sap.security.perm.api .
    I Included them, then also, it is giving me Exception
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/engine/lib/logging/LoggingHelper
         at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:56)
         at com.am.FetchKMData.main(FetchKMData.java:30)
    Exception in thread "main"
    and I am getting a pop Up message from the Java Virtual Machine Launcher, saying a Fatal Exception has occured and the Program will exit.
    Kindly let me know if it is possible to access the User info using UMFactory in a standalone Java application. If yes kindly let me know where i am going wrong.
    Regards,
    Shilpa B.V

    Hi Shilpa,
    1. Check that you have added com.sap.security.api within the Your Project>Libraries folder (under navigation tab) and also added jars in the build path of the Your Project under project>properties>Build Path.
    2. In case you have a DC instead of Web Dynpro Project then you have to add the com.sap.security.api under Your DC>Used DCs and have compile time and runtime dependency added.
    Here java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError is caused basically due to only build time dependency added and reference to the jar missing at runtime. Rest the code to retrieve the current user id using UME API and getUserByLogOnID("....") method with/without portal environment would not be an issue at all.

  • Is there a way to install just the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?

    I have a custom built Java 6 application that doesn't like Photoshop CS5 64 bit edition.  The program copies over a file from the network to the local machine and then opens it in Photoshop.  The user manipulates the image and saves the changes.  The user then completes the image and the application copies the image back to the server.  The problem we're having is: When we use Photoshop CS5 64-bit, it takes about 2 minutes for Photoshop to open the image.  The file is copied over within 2 seconds and the Photoshop icon on the windows taskbar starts flashing.  But then you spend a few minutes waiting for it to open.
    Some things that I have tried to isolate the problem:
    - I found you can copy the file somewhere else, double click on it and the image will open in Photoshop before the script is able to open the file.
    - I tried uninstalling Photoshop and reinstalling just the 64 bit edition without the 32 bit installation.  The script just stops working in this situation.
    - I tried uninstalling CS5 and installing CS3.  The image opens as soon as the file is copied over.
    What I would like to try next is to install just the CS5 32 bit version.  But the installer is being uncooperative and will only allow either the 64 bit version or both the 64 and 32 bit versions.  So, back to my question: Is there a way to install just the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5 on a Windows 7 64 bit machine?

    Do you mean schroot?  If so I'm not sure exactly how well that will work out, because the part that depends on python is a deamon that handles communication between the USB dongle and the Tux Droid which may mean hacking the deamon a bit so ether way this does not seem like it will be a easy task.

  • Issue with Oracle service bus installation on Windows 7 64 bit machine

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Oracle service bus 11.1.1.4 in Windows 7 64 bit machine for which i have downloaded the generic installers of both weblogic server and Oracle service bus. As per the instructions -
    1. Install JDK 1.6
    2. Install Weblogic server
    3.Install Eclipse separately (In my case Galileo 11.1.1.5 64 bit) - Just unzip the contents in the home directory where weblogic server is installed
    4. Install OSB
    I have installed all the above 1,2,3 in the same folder as per the instructions. But when i try to install OSB which asks for eclipse home location. But when i give the eclipse home location, it gives an error ""Home location is invalid" and i am unable to proceed with the installation.
    I have tried this with OSB 11.1.1.5 as well and have the same issue.
    Does anyone has any links which provides the steps to install OSB in Windows 7 64 bit machines or if someone can help me to resolve the above issue ?
    I really appreciate any information on this as it is urgent.
    Thanks

    I have installed OEPE 11.1.1.6.1 now in the same middleware home as weblogic server but when i try to install OSB 11.1.1.4 in the same middleware home, it asks for OEPE home location. Even though i provide the OEPE home location , it displays as "invalid oepe home location".
    I have been struggling to get this sorted out so that i can carry out IDE development in OSB 11.1.1.4
    Below are the paths where sfotware are installed -
    JDK - C:\Oracle\Middleware\Java\jdk1.6.0_21
    Weblogic server - C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3
    OEPE - C:\Oracle\Middleware\oepe-galileo-all-in-one-11.1.1.6.0.201007221355-win32-x86_64
    Thanks

  • 32 Bit Oracle Client Libraries on a 64 Bit Machine

    Hello,
    I own a 32 bit application that is running on a 64 bit linux machine currently only installed with 64 bit oracle client libraries. I requested the administrator install the 32 bit client libraries so that my application can function and they tell me that it is not possible. They cited a Meta-Link article that I do not seem to have access to, but this doesn't seem right. Has anyone else ever installed 32 bit compatible client libraries on a 64 bit machine. Thanks

    On Linux (and this is only on Linux, not on Solaris and AIX !) if the OS is 64bit, only 64 bit Oracle is supported.
    Check the Certify pages for Linux x86-64. This is in the critical notes :
    "Linux x86-64, support on AMD64/EM64T and Intel Processor Chips that adhere to the x86-64 architecture with supported Linux releases. *Running Oracle 32-bit on AMD64/EM64T (64-bit OS) is not supported .*
    Oracle 32-bit running on AMD64/EM64T with a 32-bit OS is supported, refer to platform Linux x86 for more information on product availability. "

  • Problem loading Applets from Jar files on 64 bit machine

    I am developing an applet (extends Applet but uses swing components) using JDK 1.6 (Though these problems still happen in JDK 1.7) and I am unable to get the applet to load on a 64 bit machine in most cases. The web server(s) are running on localhost and I am connecting on the same machine using a local network ip address (such as 192.168.*.*)
    Below are all of my test results. Can someone provide a suggestion for repairing this? The Windows Server machine is a clients computer I access to it via remote desktop but I can't do much with it though I do have administrator rights. The Windows 7 machine is my development platform so I have been able to do extensive testing on it.
    This problem is presenting in the following environments when trying to load an applet from JAR files in a HTML document using the Applet or Object tag.
    Windows Server 2008 (Intel Chipset)
    Tested Browsers:
    Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) - Shows it is blocked by default then simply shows an x when loaded from a web page, same result when loading from local drive.
    Windows 7 Home Premium (AMD Chipset)
    Tested Browsers:
    Firefox 6.0.1 (32 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner, after a few minutes there is finally an error that a class in the jar was not found
    Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner, after a few minutes there is finally an error that a class in the jar was not found
    Internet Explorer 9 (64 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner and most of the windows desktop manager freezes, keyboard is the only thing that responds so you can alt-tab to another app to regain control of the desktop.
    Chrome (32 bit) - Java logo shows with spinner, after a few minutes there is finally an error that a class in the jar was not found
    The only way I have been able to get a Java applet to run on a 64 bit machine are the following ways.
    Firefox 9 nightly (64 bit) works perfectly! Go Firefox!
    Internet Explorer 9 (32 bit) loading directly from drive (c:\...)
    Chrome (32 bit) loading directly from drive (c:\...)
    Firefox 6.0.1 (32 bit) loading directly from drive (c:\....)
    Can someone please help! I've been fighting with this bug for over a week and I can't find anything that will solve it, I have noticed that in some cases if my jar has very little code in it than it will run on the server, but the minute I start adding things to it the jar won't load anymore.

    To clarify...
    1. You have tried it on 32 bit machine? Exactly which OS?I tested this on Windows Vista Business which is in 32 bit mode and the applets run without any problems

    2. Your only 64 bit tests have involved 2008/Win7?
    If so then I would suspect something with windows not java. Probably permissions.
    The web server(s) are running on localhost and I am connecting on the same machine using a local network ip address (such as 192.168.*.*)
    Yes, I haven't tried running the jars on other operating systems.

    I don't understand that. If you are running on localhost then you should connect to localhost. If running on an IP then you should connect to that. Perhaps you meant that you have tested using both of those?I'm testing using the lan ip address but I'm connecting from the same machine. I've tried localhost and that didn't work so I tried lan ip since that will likely have a different java security context than localhost. At first I was blaming the IIS server but I downloaded the jar directly and using HTTP fox was able to verify that the jar is being sent with the correct mime-type and that the server can upload the jar file without a problem. This leaves me to believe the problem is with Java.

    at a guess, CBS is encountering this access denied error and aborting due to an inconsistency in the servicing store.
    check your CBS.log file
    you should check your system health with SFC /scannow
    also check system health with DISM:

  • Help:where can i download jdk1.4 amd64-bit for windows server 2003 version?

    where can i download jdk1.4 amd64-bit for windows server 2003 version?

    Thanks all for your replys.
    As I know there is no Crystal Reports 2008 runtimes for 64 bit machines, there are only 32 bit runtimes for that product.So,I need to know when will be the 64 bit runtimes will be released or will be available.
    Also,for the CR bundled with VS 2008 (10.5), there are 64 bit runtimes which you could find on your development machine under -
    ' C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5\CRRedist2008_x64.msi '
    When will be 64 bit runtimes for CR 08 will be available?

  • Java -version error: could not open`C:\xml_render\java\lib\amd64\jvm.cfg

    I updated my laptop to the latest recommended Java update. After installing, i tested out the install by doing a java -version. Instead of executing, i got the following error:
    Error: could not open `C:\xml_render\java\lib\amd64\jvm.cfg'
    i installed JRE under the C:\xml_render\java sub-directory. The Java installer did not create an amd64 sub-directory.
    Have tried to troubleshoot this for a few hours, could not figure out what points to `C:\xml_render\java\lib\amd64', so i would greatly appreciate some help.
    Here is version and environment info:
    Windows 7
    Installed 32-bit JRE
    java version: 1.6_38
    previously had 1.6_35, 32-bit, which i had uninstalled.

    This sounds like you already had Java installed, then installed a new one, but the old one is still in your PATH, or the Windows registry is pointing to the wrong one.

    I am running Java Linux (AMD64)
    but I have no <JAVA_HOME/jre/plugins directory and no libjavaplugin_oji.so file with the Java installation.
    1) Can I download libjavaplugin_oji.so plugin somewhere?
    2) Will it work in Java Linux (AMD64)?
    3) Can Java Linux (AMD64) be setup to operate Java WebStart Technology?
    If so, How the h--- do I do it?

    I have the same problem. Downloaded the 64 bit jre and found no libjavaplugin_oji.so in it.
    Then downloaded the 32 bit jre and did the soft link and still no work.
    Has anyone made the 32 bit jre work on the 64 bit linux?
