CM 2012 R2 CU1 - Applications failing to install in TS after upgrade to R2 from SP1

Hi,
We had a perfectly working TS in SP1.  We have upgraded to R2 CU1 and now we are seeing applications fail to download during a TS.  Not all applications are failing, and if we re-run the TS there is no consistency between which applications fail.
Content has been checked with the validation tool and the client version during the TS is R2 CU1.
The errors I am seeing in the logs are as follows:
DataTransferService.log
[CCMHTTP] ERROR: URL=https://xxx:443/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_20447040-0e0e-4178-ad5f-8affb4c068ee.1, Port=443, Options=480, Code=12044, Text=ERROR_WINHTTP_CLIENT_AUTH_CERT_NEEDED
Error sending DAV request. HTTP code 600, status ''
GetDirectoryList_HTTP('https://xxxxx:443/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/Content_20447040-0e0e-4178-ad5f-8affb4c068ee.1') failed with code 0x80072f0c.
Non-recoverable error retrieving manifest (0x80072f0c).
The app does not download and the installation is skipped.  This is a PKI environment, all certs are fine and these have not changed since the upgrade.  What I don't get is why some applications are okay and others are not.
Any help appreciated...

I've tried adding comments to the application and to the deployment types within, still no luck.  For example appdiscovery.log showing:

    Hello,
In my task sequence, any application that i add fails to install with Error Code 0x87d00215. Outside of the task sequence the
    applications install with no problems.
A couple things that i have verified already
DP is set to allow clients to connect anonymously
Network Access Account is set and verified
Setting on the application for Allow
this application to be installed from the Install Application task sequence action instead of deploying it manually is set
Boundaries are set correctly as software installs correctly outside of the TS
Logs that do not show errors
IIS logs - Check out just fine

Data Transfer Log - Does not show any error with the correct date
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The AppEnforce log is empty and below are some bits from the AppDiscovery log and the AppIntentEval log which I did not see anything unusual.

  • Server 2012 (not R2) RODC fails to install Windows Updates

    Good morning all
Since around October, our 80-odd 2012 (non-R2) RODCs have been failing to install windows updates, rolling them back on reboot. Patches that don't require a reboot are fine. The short version is, please log a call with MS and reference this thread, if you're
having this issue as currently they're saying they won't fix this!!
Our product support group opened an official case and reported this with Microsoft and they've found the cause. PLEASE NOTE however, that this relates to RODC and ALL patches failing, not just 3000061 on non-RODC.
There was some chat relevant to this as originally it was thought KB3000061 was to blame, and a few other people had had the same issue there (see links at the bottom). I think however, that this issue now stands alone as any patch we try to install will
    fail.

    000113 [gle=0x80004005]
    Cause:
The installer uses SAM API calls to manage the group. It always connects to the local SAM instance. The component also handles an uninstall task in the same function. On uninstall the group is being deleted.
So the SAM handle is requested with "Create Group" and "Delete" access.
The error happens because a RODC does not allow any changes and thus returns STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED.
More information about the prevent from accidental deletion feature please refer :
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773347(v=WS.10).aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc739350(v=WS.10).aspx
    Recommendation:
This is a Bug in the RODC running on server 2012, However you may do an in place upgrade to Server 2012 R2 and then proceed with the installation of the patch.
The bad news is this is fixed in 2012 R2 with a hotfix - but it isn't fixed in 2012 and it won't be because.. they've only had one official report logged. And that was by us. So, if you want this fixed, you need to start logging this with MS now.
What I can say just now is that this isn't related to the registry fixes with WinEVT we've all been trying, it's NOT limited to 2008 that has been upgraded in place to 2012 (our product support group replicated it in the lab with a brand new 2012 promoted
to RODC) and it IS only happening with RODC. Possible fix might be to make your RODC RW for a bit and install your patches then.

The error indicates that IIS is returning a "404 not found" error back to the Windows Update Agent.  That might mean that you need to specify the correct port that WSUS is listening on, e.g.:
    WSUSServer=http://yourserver:8530

  • IOS Application "Failed to Install" -- Air 3.0

I'm having the hardest time getting iOS applications to install on my iPhone.  Every time I build my application it trys to install it on the device before coming back to say 'failed to install' on the phone.
I tried pulling out all the code related issues and started a brand new Hello World project with one label in it.  I managed to get that to install once, but then it failed after that every single time.
NOTE: I'm running this on a windows machine, as I don't have funding to purchase a mac box
    Here's the steps I took:
    1. Got a cert request from OpenSSL
    2. Uploaded the request to the provisioning portal
    3. Downloaded the actual cert
    4. Used OpenSSL to convert the cert to a .PEM
    5. Used OpenSSL to convert the .PEM to a .P12
    6. Added my device UDID to the provisioning portal
    7. Added my application id to the provisioning portal
    8. Got a provisioning file for that setup
    9. Built my application using the provisioning file and cert
    10. Copied the provisioning file to iTunes
    11. Copied the application to iTunes
    12. Synced the phone, it tries to install, and then the phone states 'HelloWorld failed to install' and removes the icon from the desktop
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here.  I'm going to try using my coworkers mac to build a cert on his machine instead and utilize that but I doubt that will resolve the issue.
I haven't touched anything in the application descriptor at all, except for setting the applicationId to my application profile on the provisioning portal (as it won't build without that)

    Hey Neo,
I believe I've been having the same problem as this, I even created my own thread not having found this one.
I very much did have my resources folder directly under source but have now moved it to be on the same level as source
    i.e.
    Project
    - src
    - resources
    instead of
    Protect
    - src
       - resources
But it's still have the Failed to Install problem. Is my project structure still incorrect with this or do I have to start another project and do it all again? It almost seems as doing it once corrupts the entire project.
    Thanks
    Aaron

  • Batch file application fails to install

We have an SCCM application which fails to install.
It is packaged as a batch file which tuns an installshield exe install then a VBS script to remove unwanted shortcuts. The SCCM application fails with error code 1628 but running the batch file from the ccmcache as administrator it works as intended.
I think the Exe installs InstallShield first and then the application. It looks as though the application install doesn't run with sufficient privileges.
    "%~dp0Salud_1.20.0.15.exe" /z"/q /TSQL /SSALUDTESTDBITS /DSALUD_TEST"
    "%~dp0deletedesktopshortcut.vbs"
    Any clues appreciated.

Also, if you want to do this with a script, why don't you wrap the "Salud_1.20.0.15.exe" /z"/q /TSQL /SSALUDTESTDBITS /DSALUD_TEST" command to a single .vbs script that also includes the "deletedesktopshortcut.vbs" ? Doing stuff
in .bat and calling stuff is just bad... Way more cleaner to handle it all in a single script.
    Sample for the first part:
    strCommand = "Salud_1.20.0.15.exe /z/q /TSQL /SSALUDTESTDBITS /DSALUD_TEST"
    set WshShell = CreateObject ("Wscript.Shell")
    set objExec = WshShell.Exec(strCommand)
    Do While objExec.Status = 0
    Wscript.Sleep 100
    Loop
    Set WshShell = Nothing
Also note that the above handles only the running of your salud... -file, some additional debugging/logging would be good to add.
For the application just configure the install command: "cscript.exe yourcustomname.vbs" and the detection method you have to figure out by yourself.

  • Developer application Failed to install

    Hi
We created a developer application which eventualy failed to install. At the end of the sync with iTunes it generates an error:
    Failed to install [app name]
We double check the provisioning file and checked inside the:
    settings-general-profiles
the profile name exists and signed as verified.
    Any clues?
    Thanks

In our case, definitely yes. We're still getting the same problem. we re-created every certificate. Even had 2  sets of eyes on it through every step to make sure we were doing it correctly. Still the 'failed to install' message. on 3 separate iPads. We're stumped.

  • "Application failed to evaluate" during OSD after SP1 Upgrade

    Hi,
Today i upgraded out configuration manager from 2012 rtm to 2012 sp1. The update process completet without any errors but now i'm unable to install application during osd. The first application crashed with the message:
Installation job completed with exit code 0x00000000
Execution status received: 16 (Application failed to evaluate )
    in smsts.log
I know that there are some gotcha's regarding application installation during osd after sp1 upgrade. I already did the following steps:
    - Update the deployment type of the application in my osd task sequence
    - Re-Add the Network Access Account
    - Removed the first application in the task sequence to see if the problem is application related
    - Checked the option "Allow this application to be installed.." in the application properties
    - Reboot my site servers
I can install application via Software Center without any problems, also the software updates are working normally.
    Thanks in advance

  • Skype Failed to install error 1603 after windows r...

Hey everyone! Thanks for any help in advanced.
Honestly after losing access to an old account and making a new account I've still been a long time fan of skype and love free 1 on 1 video calls. I'm really hoping this is an easy fix because honestly I've been looking at the skype community forums for the last hour and havn't been able to find a fix.
About 2 and a half hours ago I reduced the size of my only partiton on my 500 GB harddrive as much as I could. After doing this I reinstalled windows on the new 200ish GB partition. After installing and loading windows I coppied skype, smite, and steam from D:\Program Files to C:\Program Files (x86) and attempted to run skype. Skype opened and I signed in as usual but skype was having a really high CPU usage and kept reading/writing to some statistics.db file at several GB/s (Total IO was like 1.8GB/s, mostly write I think). The 13% cpu usage, although concerning as abnormally high, didnt really bog down performance too much. This high disk usage was really driving my mad as when it peaked my computer would almost stop responding and skype.exe would stop responding (although it resumed eventually). Skype in this state was unusable as any time the window was focused it almost crashed.
After this I decided to reinstall skype instead of using the backup I had. I went to uninstall skype and found that it didnt show up on the list to "uninstall a program" so I tried following as many steps I could at https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10634/how-can-i-completely-uninstall-and-then-reinstall-skype-for...
I've also followed all the steps here except for installing an earlier version of skype as I'm not sure what version to use. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-Problems-Troubleshooting/td-p/52260
I force ended skype.exe then made backups of my skype user and pictures folders. I skipped step 3 since it wasn't in the list. I then did steps 4-6. While doing this I noticed it said there may be "up to 50" references to skype in the registry but I noticed there were a lot more. I'm not exactly sure how many there were but I counted up to 40 and when I noticed I was only half way through the registry I started spamming "delete" key "enter" (to confirm deletion) as fast as I could.  I'd say there were at least 70 skypes in the registry. I'm not sure if this registry includes things from my other installation of windows or if it got **bleep**ed up because of they way I tried to install skype.
After doing all this with my registry I rechecked to make sure the skype program files and skype app data folders were deleted and then tried to reinstall skype. Downloading from http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/ I tried to reinstall it and all I did was unchecked "run skype when windows starts" hit next unchecked the bing and skype click to call stuff, hit next. After it said installing for a while it said installation failed error 1603.
I tried following advice of several posts on the forums and other sites, including going through the registry again, using Microsofts FixIt for install/uninstalls, and trying to install skype from another administrator account. After looking at several posts, trying all these fixes, and looking into it myself I'm really not sure what to do.
I've looked at all of the following posts and tried all the fixes I saw.
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Skype-Problems-Troubleshooting/td-p/52260

http://www.msigeek.com/715/how-to-troubleshoot-the-error-1603-fatal-error-during-installation (This page gave me an "Error establishing database connection" page)
Not really sure what else to say or do, I've never really had to debug any programs or windows features before, and the only time I ever messed with the registry was a few windows installs before when I had to delete several instances of a self-reinstalling virus on my computer that spammed processes and lagged my computer.
Edit: After seeing this link I tried rerunning Microsoft's FixIt Install/Uninstall with the program ID from the folder name at %programdata%\Skype. I tried doing this and installing Skype from SkypeSetup_6.1.0.129.msi. Installation failed with some failed to read file totally forgot what it was. I then tried using the standard InstallSkypeFull.exe and it gave an actual error this time instead of the apparently "generic" error 1603 (see attached picture) After this installation failed I tried reinstalling from the 6.1.0.129.msi and it didn't say it failed. I'm about to try and open it.
Anddd opening Skype failed with the error message in the attached skype2 picture. I'm just going to close everything related to that except for this post and I'm going to close all my installers and debug stuff I have open and just wait for a reply. Currently I believe the system thinks skype is installed but I can't open it.
    Solved!

I'm afraid that after all the manipulations your system is so messed up that a regular Skype installation is no longer possible.
    Try this:
Download but not run this msi-installer for Skype 6.9.0.106 version:
    http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi
Create a folder on your computer where you want Skype application to be located. This folder can also be C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\, but any other location will work too.
Now using the procedure described here:
    http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/How-to-update-Skype-without-using-any-Skype-ins...
extract Skype.exe file from the SkypeSetup_6.9.0.106.msi file and copy this Skype.exe file to the selected installation folder.
Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). You will have to start Skype using this new shortcut.
P.S. There is a new link to the latest Lessmsi program:

    Dear Community,
I am unable able to boot the Windows Vista install (via Boot Camp) on my MacBook Pro / mid 2010 after upgrading to OS Maverick.
Any idea about how this problem can be solved (I don't want to purchase Windows 7 and I don't want to purchase a virtual machine)?

    Hello 88,
I haven't resized / modified anything since installing Vista on my System. The problem must have incurred when upgrading from Snow Leopard to Maverick.

After upgrading to OS X 10.8, when I try to install Aperture, I keep getting this error message "To open Aperture, Installer must quit and reopen". I have the box version of Aperture 3, so it's version 3.0 and I will not be able to download the latest dmg off Mac App Store. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Try if this download link for the trial version still works: if yes, you can unlock it with your serial number from the boxed version:

  • My Applet start failed due to security warning after upgrading java version

    Hi Team,
We have an application where we read the weight from the attached weighing Scale (Hardware device).
For this we use one Applet which runs and reads the data.
Now we upgraded the Java version from 1.6 to 1.7 and started encountering a security alert 'Running unsigned applications like this will be blocked in a future release because it is potentially unsafe and a security risk'.
Our application runs on a HTP port not on HTTPS because this is installed in client premise and no risk in opening HTTP port internally.
Could you please help us in resolving the issue. We don't want to see the alert even after upgrading the Java version.
    Thanks,
