Code tags in forum help produce white on black

Have a look: https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#smilies
On my browser, code tags in normal posts are rendered black on powder blue:
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, suas lorem menandri pro at, quod quot tritani ne cum. Eu mei cetero molestiae dissentiet, eam suas case aliquando id. Cum id mazim audire quaeque. Sit no tation apeirian, an mazim minimum temporibus cum. Et libris reprimique referrentur ius, vis ea fastidii delectus senserit.
Global setting?  User setting?

Yes. The default theme was made exclusively for this forum. All other themes are provided by upstream and are generic. As such, they don't have site-specific stuff.

  • Java forum code button broken.... Whats the code to write the code tags?

    I cant use the code button. I click it nothing happens any idea why? I forgot the code that makes the code tags.

    the "code" button was introduced for the homework kiddos in an attempt to honour their requests to "gif mi zu koduz" and teach them some English at the same time.
    By general request of senior forum members that functionality has now been removed but the now disfunctional button was retained.

    Sorry but I didn't know where to post this thread.....
    How can I write HTML code in this forums?

    Hello,
    Every piece of code in your post should be wrapped with the forum tags [ code] and [ /code], without the blanks.
    In case of the <a> tag, that is not enough. In this case, you have several options. The most elegant one is to use the entity name for the less-then sign - & lt; - without any spaces. Other options is to add a space between the less-then and the ‘a’ character (and make a note of it) or change the less-then character with a left bracket one.
    When posting code, you should always use the forum preview option, just to make sure the forum software “understood” your code correctly.
    Hope this helps,
    Arie.

  • Can we have Quote and Code tags?

    I think a lot of people miss knowing there are "code" tags because the option is not visually represented. How about a button for it at the top of the editor next to the link and spell check icon? More people knowing about that option and using it would make the posts MUCH more legible and people more likely to get helped.
    Having quote tags like other forums would be extremely useful too.
    Thanks

    I would love proper code highlighting support for PL/SQL and SQL source code. The current SQL highlighter only does uppercase reserved words (silly standard) and is also useless for PL/SQL code.
    Also, a problem with syntax highlighting is expecting a string quote to end on the same line that it started. This is not always the case, especially when defining a string value that is used as a code template, and includes line feeds (e.g. defining a string literal for a SOAP envelope).
    And if old vim can support it correctly, why not fresh new forum software? ;-)

  • Code Formating after Forum Software Upgrade

    Hello SCN Forum Administrators,
    it seems that all code formating which was done with the
    [code]
    Tags was not automatically converted during the Forum Software Upgrade. What can I do to correct my code in the Forum Topic Re: Display ALV GRID with PHP? The message was posted by myself but I can't edit it.
    Best regards
    Gregor

    Hi all,
    the new forum version does contain a filter that can handle the old [code] tags. The problem was that we had to turn it off because it permanently ran into Stackoverflow errors and thus bringing the whole landscape into trouble.
    Now we have to convert all the old [code] markup in all messages with the new {code} markup. We are currently testing this.
    In other words: [code] is no longer supported, the usage of {code} is recommended.
    Regards,
    Michael

  • Link to Bug Report Forum on Forum help page is dangling...

    The link Bug Reporting Forum (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/reportabug/threads/) on page
    Answers >
    Forums Home
    > Help (http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/help) is dangling. Makes it a bit more complicated than necessary to find this forum...
    Cheers, Michael

    Hello Brent,
    unluckily I think you misunderstood Michael original point.
    Because some time passed, I too would like to report same issue again but let me explain and guide you (or others) how I too reached same sentence.
    As of now even from your own 'Forums preferences' profile page you should be able to find on right side a
    'Help' URL that leading to an intermediate page stating :
    "The Frequently Asked Questions has Moved
    The Forums help file has been moved to the
    Community Wiki. Please update any bookmarks you may have."
    Now a part from correcting that 'Help' URL once you or anyone reach 'Forums
    Help (FAQ) - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki' you can find 'How
    do I report issues with the Forums?' question, and then there's this other sentence :
    "How do I report issues with the Forums?
    You can report bugs, suggestions, and other issues for Forums, by performing one of the following actions:
    Bug: If the issue seems like a bug in the forums code, go to the Bug Reporting Forum and report the bug
    by using the template provided in the top forum thread.
    But once anyone reach that Forum, now called 'Forums Issues (not product support)' there's no real forum bug reporting template in the top forum threads (as of now I only found 'Verify Your Account 15' and 'How to report
    spam') and also to find this post thread I really had to search for "report a bug".
    Regards
    Rob

  • How to post my code in this Forum under a good format?

    can any one tell me how to post the java resource code in here? when i just copy and paste. the format of the output is not so good, i saw some one posted some code under a very good format in this Forum, how to do that?

    If you want to post code that makes it easier on someone else to cut-n-paste, then put the code inside of the [ pre] and [ pre] tags (no blank space in between). If you want code that looks pretty (i.e., with syntax highlight, etc) but hard to cut-n-paste (at least for someone like me who uses Windows WordPad as a source code editor), put the code inside of the [ code] and [ code] tags (again no spaces in between). pre is an abbreviation for preformatted text!
    ;o)

  • Did the code tag implementation change?

    Over in the UIX forum, we have been relying on the ability to embed XML content inside of a "code" tag - and for as long as I can remember this would automatically escape HTML/XML start/end tags so that they would be displayed in the message content. For example, users have been posting uiXML samples like this:
    (Note, in this sample I have added a trailing whitespace in the opening code tag so that the forum software will display the tag instead of interpret it. Also, I have explicitly escaped < and > myself so that they will be displayed.)
    [code ]
    <messageTextInput id="whatever"
    name="neededName"
    prompt="Prompt 2">
    <boundMessage select="error2"/>
    </messageTextInput>
    Previously, the code tag would automatically handle escaping the open/close tag characters (< and >) to the appropriate character entities (< and >). This no longer seems to be happening. The end result is that embedded XML code is sent back to the browser unescaped, and ends up being interpreted by the browser as HTML - which generally makes such content unreadable. Here is what the above sample looks like now:
    [code ]
    <messageTextInput id="whatever"
    name="neededName"
    prompt="Prompt 2">
    <boundMessage select="error2"/>
    </messageTextInput>
    This change in behavior has two really bad consequences:
    1. This is making it very difficult to post uiXML samples, which means that users are having a hard time posting test cases, and the UIX team is having a hard time posting sample solutions.
    2. We have a large number of code samples that have been posted to the forum over the last year or so. All of these samples are now unreadable.
    Was there a change in behavior in how the code tag handles HTML/XML escaping? Can we get the old behavior back?
    Andy

    I really didn't mean to have smiley faces in my post - another interesting feature! What I meant to say was:
    "Previously, the code tag would automatically handle escaping the open/close tag characters, &lt; and &gt; , to the appropriate character entities: &amp;lt; and &amp;gt;."
    And actually, I forgot to take the whitespace out of my sample code tag - let me try posting the sample code one more time, this time inside of an actual code tag:
    <messageTextInput id="whatever"
                      name="neededName"
                      prompt="Prompt 2">
      <boundMessage select="error2"/>
    </messageTextInput>Andy

  • Formatting code on these forums

    When I copy code directly from codewarrior (with its nice colorcoding and white space and indenting) into this forum and post, everything is justified left with no colors or bolding and it's all in the forum font. I notice that some people are able to present code in these forums that looks like codewarrior code. Just wondering how one takes code from a source file and puts it in these forums looking like code should.
    Thanks,
    Maduin

  • Code tags

    This is my first forum.
    How do you use the 'code tags' on this site?
    Should i click the code button then paste my code? Should I paste my code in between "like right here"?

    That's it! Well done.
    But don't start new threads for everything, you should have replied to your other thread.

  • Paste code on the forum

    Hi,
    This question is not related to this forum, per se, but many times I face difficulty in asking question where I need to paste some sample code on this forum. How to paste the code so that it gets formatted properly rather than just seeing unformatted code on the screen which makes it difficult to read? Any html tag to be used?
    Thanks

    check this for more format options:

  • Please Use Code Tags

    There was a time in these forums where posters were flamed mercilessly for not using code tags. Now it seems that OP's almost NEVER use them. It makes me nuts. I wonder though why the flaming has stopped.
    1) Is everyone too flamed out thanks to AU_UK?
    2) Have the new posters beaten down the standards?
    Just ranting, sorry. Please please please use code tags.
    please?

    For those who miss the URL tag, try the following. It works in IE, but I don't know about any other browsers. I found this on the internet a while back.
    Make a favorite (on your Links bar is a good place), with the following as the URL (all in one string, of course--get rid of any spaces that the forum might insert):
    javascript:if(frames.length>0){alert('Frames!')}else{ulBV3pQy=document.selection.createRange().text;if(ulBV3pQy!=''){location.href=ulBV3pQy.replace(/\042/g,'').replace(/\047/g,'')}else{alert('Select%20text%20on%20page%20like:\n%20%20%20http://www.domain.com...')}}(Sorry for the long line--code tags should eliminate the extraneous spaces, right?)
    Then, if you see a link in a page, such as any of the following links that OPs need to remember:
    http://www.google.com
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/
    Select (highlight) the link, click the "Favorite" that you made, and the link will be opened in the current window. No need to copy and paste--just highlight and click the favorite.
    I have found this shortcut to be quite useful.

  • Code tags broken

    Are code tags suddenly broken for anyone else?

    Hurray, let's celebrate the forum software. Why
    can't the developers at least beta test?The same every time, isn't it? How often did I tell
    them not to try and improve anything?I wish they would just learn to listen.

  • CF 10 CFML function, tag definitions and help files in DW cs6

    I'm unable to view the new CF 10 CFML function, tag definitions and help files in DW CS6 after using the ColdFusion10_Tags_for_DW.mxp update file. I see that the 'CF10 Extensions' are enabled in Adobe Extension Manager CS6.
    When I pull up the Reference tab Book: 'Adobe CF Function Reference', I don't see canonicalize in the drop down of 'CFFunctions'.
    Is there an issue with updating the extensions within DW CS6?
    Any help would be great.

    I am afraid http://forums.adobe.com/community/coldfusion is more suitable for this question.
