Using grouped objects as drag and drop source

I am creating a drag and drop interaction. I have an image grouped with a text area and would like to make them draggable together as a single drag source.
However, even though they are already grouped, when I edit the drag and drop interaction, they can only be specified as separate sources.
Is it possible to use grouped objects as a single source? How?

Have tons of workarounds, but none for this. It is simply not possible to indicate a group as a drag object, you have to put everything in one object. Maybe if you explain what is in the group?

I actually really like the GUI builder in netbeans. I used to be a big eclipse user so I am very familiar with coding GUIs by hand, and most of what I do involves GUI's or at least swing.
At first I hated netbeans, I hated that I couldn't edit the code most. Then I decided to take a deep breath and really examine the issue. What I discovered is that most of the edits I wanted to make but couldn't really weren't the right way to be doing it in the first place, for the rest the code is actually really easy to change you just have to know how.
Now my palette is huge, probably about 250 objects in it organized into sections that work for me. Basically if I want a object to do something that is not already in the palette I simply write a new object and add it to the palette. I started small like with rounded buttons/progress bars, and as I got comfortable I now have some fairly advanced objects like grids, isometric grids, alpha composits, an animated hourglass countdown timer, and an animated "loading/activity" indicator that is not tied to a progress indicator.
The main reason I stuck with the netbeans drag and drop GUI builder is it's layout manager is really a very nice layout manager, you couldn't pay me enough to go back to eclipse or codeing GUIs by hand, as I can now do in one day what used to take me several weeks.
So what I am saying is stick with netbeans and the drag and drop, it sucks at first, but once you get to a point where you are comfortable with it and adding to the palette it will become a great tool.

Af:panelDashboard drag and drop isnt working

I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0.
Below is the code I've used to implement a drag and drop dashboard. I'm trying to develop a simple proof of concept of this and just wanted to see if I could get the panelboxs to drag and drop and so far none of them are allowing me to drag or drop. If you run this page you'll see that the panelbox's show a little drop cursor when you mouseover the top of them but dont do anything when you click to drag.

I hate to reply to my own thread but I figured this one out. There's a javascript exception being thrown in the background by an oracle .js file... This feature is broken in Firefox 3.6.3.
Does Oracle 11g support FF 3.6.3? If not, how do I report this as a bug to the ADF folks?

Photo problems and can i drag and drop files using windows explorer?

i can only sync photos frm my com to my touch but i cant choose which photos i want and i tried searching for the files in itunes and i cant find them, thus cant delete them...
on top of that, i can access the files in my touch but cant find any option to delete them...
when i go the photos tab in itunes, it only shows me the window to sync files and the 2nd question too...
because when i drag and drop on itunes, it's quite laggy...and if i use windows explorer to drag and drop, will the duplicates on my playlist appear as 2 files or will it be like itunes where it can detect the main file and simply adds it to the list?

There's no manual mode for photos just different ways to sync but here's a simple "How To" on managing your photos so that it's easy to add and delete what you want on the iPod:
1 Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the photos you want on your iPod. Call it iPod Photos for example
2 Drag the photos you want from your usual picture folder into the folder you just created
2 Open iTunes, select your iPod in the iTunes Source list.
3 Click the Photos tab and select “Synch photos from.”
4 Choose “Choose Folder” from the pop-up menu and select the iPod photos folder you created.
5 When you want to change what photos are on the iPod just add or remove the photos from the folder you have made and syncronise the the iPod
You can't drag photos or music to the iPod from Windows Explorer, you have to add content through iTunes or you'll not be able to view or play it.

I am using Mail with OS 10.9.1...I used to be able to drag and drop contact addresses from my address book to an e-mail header. Now I have to type all the names and can't drag and drop. Is there a setting for this? Thanks!

Yes, that appears how Mavericks works right now. However, you can open the Address Panel, select all your contacts, then click the To (or CC, or Bcc) buttons to move the selection to the address field.
If it is not already in the Toolbar, right-click on the Toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…
Then, drag the address panel up to wherever you want it.
You may also want to add it to the New Message window in the same way.

Maybe I am not creative enough, but other than the "Wow, cool" factor, what practical use is there for drag-and-drop in a real-world application that cannot be done using other, more traditional means?
[BTW, I searched a lot but couldnt really find any good examples of re-ordering table columns using drag and drop. Can someone point me to a few?]
A few uses I could think of (some of them already covered in the examples above) are
1. Re-ordering a list of things
2. Adding items to a shopping cart by dragging them into a cart icon
3. Deleting things by dragging them into a trashcan icon (like in Windows)
What else? It just seems like a answer looking for a question.

Listening to Drag and Drop event from the extension panel

How is it possible to detect a drop event from a Layer to a text field in a panel developer using the SDK?
Drag and drop operation between panel elements are not the issues, but drag and drop from Photoshop and the panel might be an issue.
Is it possible to implement them?
If yes, could I be redirected to the documentation topic or can someone post some code snippet ?

What model of camcorder is your video from and what resolution is it?
What operating system are you using? Have you ensured that you have the latest version of Quicktime, per the program's requirements?
Do not convert your video. The program will best with video directly from a camcorder, and converting it may will turn it into a format that it may be LESS likely to work well with.

Drag and Drop CSV file onto a table in Number

Hi everyone !
I really love the new version of iWork. However I can't find a feature I was heavilly using which is the drag and drop of a CSV file into numbers which creates the table associated to this file.
Is there anyone who has find a way to re-activate this feature? Or will I have to open new number spreadsheat each time I want to import CSV ?

Drag and drop not working in itunes?

I've recentlt udated to Snow Leopard and my itunes id up to date. First thing I noticed is that many things I used to do via drag and drop won't work anymore. or instance, i create a play list then I want to dag songs to it but it won't do it. I have to right click on the file and then select 'add to play list' and choose which playlist to add to. next, I want to rearrange the order of songs in a playlist and before I wold just click on the song and drag it up or down into the spot I want. Well It won't let me do it. Basically you need to add tracks in the order you want the first time.
What's going on here, is this the way it is now or am I doing something wrong. BTW, I'm a long time mac user (since early 90s) and this is the most non intuitive experience I have ever had on a mac.

well I discovered the problem after some research. It seems that if you have a wacom tablet and mouse, your mac won't allow you to do some drag and drop features. I have a microsoft mouse attached as well and it works fine.

Dojo drag-and-drop functionality - how to record?

I am preparing some e-Tester scripts for our project. On one of the pages, the user has to choose some people as team members. This process is dynamic, and is developed and written using dojo (dojotoolkit.org) drag-and drop capabilities. Basically, the following happens:
1) Initially, user has an empty "Search" form on the left and an empty "Team members" form on the right
2) User enters some search string in the "Search" field on the left and presses the "Search now" button. The "Search" form will be filled with matching employees from the database.
3) User moves some of the employees to the "Team members" field via drag and drop
At the moment, I am having troubles recording the drag and drop part of the process. I tried recording all the events for the draggable sources and their targets, but it did not work (it seemed that the needed onmouse* events were recorded, but it still did not work). I also tried taking a snapshot of the needed page state, but it did not work since the drag and drop had nothing to do with the forms (dojo cuts parts of the html and pastes it elsewhere when drag and drop occurs). I even tried to fire the (not sure here) right events on the affected elements through PI, but it still did not work. Do you have any solutions, or maybe a suggestion I could try?
You can download the dojo toolkit from http://dojotoolkit.org/downloads and do some testing on a standalone example (dojo/tests/dnd/test_dnd.html) there, it is using the same mechanics.

That was the last thing I tried. I used FindElement to get access to the html elements dojo is "using" for drag and dropping. Then I FireEvent 'ed on those, trying to replicate the steps important for dojo DnD (drag and drop) - mostly onmouse* - but it just didn't work.
It might have failed either because I played a wrong sequence of events (dojo has practically no information available on the event sequence needed for DnD, though it is clearly written which events are actually used) or e-Tester failing to keep its control on the elements properly (since dojo is actually changing those elements className a lot during DnD).
So if anyone was able to steer dojos DnD like that successfully, maybe they could post a right sequence of events needed (should be something like: mousedown on the DnD item, mouseover on DnD target and mouseup on DnD item with - maybe - something inbetween).
I would really appreciate it if someone could also explain me how exactly the the whole FindElement/get Object/do stuff with that Object business works. For example in my PI program I have:

So what I get is actually an object DnDSource - and abstraction - which is somehow tied to the html source the browser is looking at. How is this object connected to the html source? If I start FireEvent ing the DnDSource, what is actually happening every time? e-Tester searches the current html source each time we access DnDSource in some way, using the provided " it is a div with id=DojoUnique12" information? Or does it work in some other way? If some other property (e.g. className) of that div changes after some event, will DnDSource still reference it properly? What if its id changes? What if the element is cut and pasted elsewhere in the html source by the JavaScript at some point?

Drag and drop between multiple instances of an executable

I want to know if there is a special way (not using Windows API) to drag and drop data between multiple instances of a same executable.
I have an application built in LabVIEW, where the main window can open a child window. Each window has a plot control. Between the two windows, a plot data of main window can be copied by drag and drop.
And I open another instance of the same executable. Now there are two executables(A and B).
I want to drag and drop a plot data from the main window of B to the child window of A. But in this case, Drag Enter Event is not fired. I think that the event seems to be fired only inside an executable.

Placed images (as opposed to pasted images) in Indesign are by their very nature pointers to an external image file, so there is no way to slim down the size of your exported PDF other than by playing with the export settings. Other than that, ensure that your file is placed in Indesign at 100% and at the correct resolution for your desired output. If you open the PDF in Acrobat, you can also save as a reduced size PDF which may help.

Problem Cursor disappears / Drag and Drop doesn't work

I have an urgent problem!
Three butterflies are supposed to be dragged in an object. My customized cursor is sort of a landing net to catch these butterflies.
For the cursor I have this code:

But when I'm clicking on a butterfly my cursor stops to move and stays on the position of the butterfly, which i'm dragging. After dropping it, there is no cursor at all so one doesn't know where the mouse is currently located.
Does someone know why this doesn't work? I'm working currently with a mousefollower, because at the moment this is the only way it works..

If I wanted to collect the caught butterflies in a certain target, for example a flowerpot, where the butterflies can't be removed after dragged in, is this more or less the code for it? I haven't tried it yet but I'm searching the internet for something like that and maybe it is the right thing? And is in this case "myTarget" the name of the picture which is used as the target? Portlet drag and drop

Hi, Is there a way to enable JSR 168 portlet drag and drop(drag from one place to another place) feature. I know we can use oracle composer(page customizable, layout and panal customizable) for that. My requirement is
1. Create a page template(myTemplate.jspx) that has 2 column layout - to restrict 'page developer' (who uses the page template) to use only two columns all the time. Add facet ref to the columns.
2. Cretae a page that uses myTemplate.
3. I want to consume portlets at design time. End user will not be able to add portlets.
4. End user will only be able to drag one portlet from one place to another.
In this case where i need to user oracle composer components(page template or the page that uses it)? If I use composer in page then I cannot restrict to 2 column layout.

What version of webcenter are you using? PS2 or PS3?
Because you are a talking about JSR168 i expect this to be PS2?

This means that your developers will drop portlets from JDeveloper on the page; They will NOT use the resource catalog for this, is this correct?

This is OOTB functionality when you use layoutCustomizable. Placing portlets in another region is called personalization. Adding portlets to pages is called customization.
When you want your users to be able to drag and drop portlets from one place to another, they should only be authenticated. Authenticated users can do this by default. You don't need to do anything special for this.
It looks like your requirements is a description of the default behavior or am i missing something?
