Coldfusion Development Edition License Issue

I have 4 developers in house but only 2 can get connection
because of the 2 IP License limitation of the Coldfusion
Development Server edition. Do you know how can I fix that? Do I
have to buy another version for the dev environment?
I would appreciate your help in this matter.

Because that is the way you want to configure your shop. And
because
there are dishonest people out there.
Allaire nee Macromedia nee Adobe: You have only one license
for
ColdFusion why are your running 13 web serviers.
Dishonest Citizen: Oh only that one is 'production' those
other 12 are
our 'centralized development' servers.
I.E. if it was not locked down it would be circumvented.
I think you are over estimating how difficult it is for each
developer
to have their own CF server. You don't have to give up your
other
centralized features.
Each developer CF server can easily connect to the one remote
database
server. Creating and sharing DSN configurations are not hard
manually,
sharing the dsn xml files and or creating CAR archives and
installing on
each machine.
Each developer CF serve can use a centralized file server as
the web
root|source directory so the code is actually centralized
though it
might be executed by 4 different servers at any given time.
IIS can also be configured remotely if you would like
everybody to use a
common web server which could also be the common file server.
But this
would be a bit weird and unusual. But it is technically
possible. You
would just need to use ports or host headers to create a
differnt IIS
website for each developer that connects remotely to their
development
CF server.
I really don't recommend that last suggestion but it is
there.
P.S. The developer version of CF is restricted to two IP
addresses and
th local host..... wink wink nudge nudge.

  • Outgoing mail server- Using Coldfusion developer edition server

Can anyone tell me how I can find the outgoing mail server on
    my computer?
I am using the training from the source book, and I attempted
to find it in Outlook Express, but it is not saved in there,
because I never use that program.
How else can I find the outgoing mail server for sending SMTP
mail messages using the Coldfusion developer edition?
    Thanks,

On a standard windows machine running IIS then the IP address
    127.0.0.1 will
    access the default smtp client.

  • How can I buy a Developer Edition license for 2008 R2?

I want to upgrade from my SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition to Developer Edition.
Where can I buy a Developer license for that version?  Everything I try seems to take me only to SQL 2014 editions.

    Hello,
Please contact Microsoft Licensing at 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Ask the

  • Coldfusion developer edition for production ?

    Hi
I need to daily generate a pdf file from a database and make
some small file manipulations and Coldfusion is the perfect
solution for me as it would take me very little time to make
something usable as I write all my web apps with Coldfusion on many
    other servers.
My question is that the server that will generate the PDF
does not need to be accessed by http neither does it should be
accessed on the internet... so the developer edition (free) seems
perfect for me... but can I do that as it is a "production server"
and a "production usage" not a "developer one" waiting to be
transfered on a production server ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Phil:
Isn't it the DevNet edition the only one that puts watermarks
on PDFs via the meta tag (<meta name="ColdFusionMXEdition"
content="ColdFusion DevNet Edition - Not for Production Use.">)
because it's a development version but has no IP restrictions?
I might have misread obouillaud's post but thought he
mentioned having the (standard) developer edition. I didn't think
that one watermarked PDFs because it restricts access to 2 IP
addresses (localhot/127.0.0.1 and two others), which would, I
think, make it unusable even in a widespread intranet environment.
Not sure exactly which developer edition was referred to in
the above post but just wanted to note this just in case.
    Cheers,
    Craig

  • What is the term " per user" in sqlserver developer edition licensing .

    Folks,
I have to test my product with SQL Server 2012 database. Based on the search on ineternet, I know I have to get hold of Developer Edition
and i should  go with  "per user" licensing model  for Developer edition . I am a bit confused here on what type of users they are ?
    SQL DB Administrator user
Application Users account accessing the Database
    System Account accessing the Database
    Can some one please clarify.
    Thanks

The Product Use Rights document is installed with the instance. EG
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\120\License Terms\SQLServer2014_License_DEV_1033.rtf
    Which states in relevant part
    1.
    INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS.
    a.
General. One user may install and use copies of the software to design, develop, test and demonstrate your programs. You may not use the software on a
device or server in a production environment.
    b.

  • SQL Server Developer Edition Licensing

SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition states that it can be used for end client acceptance testing. My question is this.
Does every end client that will be doing testing need to have a license or cal to be able to use the database for testing, or do you only need to buy licenses for the developers that will be developing against it?

Each license of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition entitles one developer to use the software on as many systems as necessary and additional developers can use the software by purchasing additional licenses
Anyway for license related questions, it is better to ask Microsoft Licensing Team directly. You might want to look at these links:

  • Developer - Application Licensing Issue

We have a few programs we are working on for the iPhone, Blackberry, WM. We have a license system in place for the Blackberry and WM versions but Apple Requires us to sell through Apple App Store our big issue though is only protection is Apple links them to Apple ID but you can Authorize Apple ID on up to 5 Machines and you can upload applications to as many iPhones as you want as long as done from one of those 5 machines.. So someone can buy a $50 program once and then load onto 500,000 machines if they want without having to pay a cent more so we then end up losing like $25,000,000 from one company then look how many companies can do this lose a bunch of revenue and actually end up losing more as Apple takes 30% of the $50..
So anyway to protect the App so can only be loaded onto one iPhone we were thinking of putting it on the App Store for FREE and then they have to buy a License Key from us off our site but then figured Apple wouldn't allow that...
    Any thoughts?

I was being serious -- you have no other choice. If you want to develop an App for Apple, you have to follow their rules, sell it through the App Store, and you can't do any kind of secondary fee charging. The App has to be approved by Apple to even sell on the App Store, so talk of charges is even premature. They don't accept every App submitted (but for some reason they seem to think we need a lot of variety in flashlite applications).
Apple doesn't play like MS or RIM -- they retain complete control of their iPhone, their App Store, and most importantly their lockdown on iTunes. They are not consumer-centric, they are Apple centric.
You really don't have any other choice -- either develop the app and follow Apple's guidelines, or you can choose NOT to develop the app.
The 5-devices includes the iPhone. People with a computer and iPhone already have 2 devices. That leaves three more.

  • Preventing Coldfusion (developer edition) starting on boot up

    Hi,
Is there an easy way I can prevent my local install of
coldfusion 7 starting on bootup? I'd rather manually fire it up
when needed. Would I need to write my own script or is there one
already available. I haven't been able to google any answers.
    Cheers

Yes, assuming you are on WinXP, this is what I do on my
development machine. Go to Start Menu -> Run and type
services.msc. Turn off all the ColdFusion services by switching
them to Manual. Then you can write some batch files to start and
    stop the ColdFusion services.
    Start Batch File:
NET START "ColdFusion MX 7 Application Server"
NET START "ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Agent"
NET START "ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server"
NET START "ColdFusion MX 7 Search Server"
    Stop Batch File:
NET STOP "ColdFusion MX 7 Application Server"
NET STOP "ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Agent"
NET STOP "ColdFusion MX 7 ODBC Server"
NET STOP "ColdFusion MX 7 Search Server"

  • License for "Community Developer Edition"

    Hello,
To my knowledge, developer license isn't free.
    Regards,
    Siddhesh

    Thanks for your reply Siddesh:
For your first answer: The blog says (quote: "The SAP Community Developer Edition license required for participation in code exchange has not expiration. You can renew the license as often as you want.")
I does not tell me where I would get the license. As in my above posting I have found a license renewal page, but there is no clear indication whether this applies to the "Community Developer Edition".
Furthermore I have checked the FAQs, it not clearly says (or I am too dumb to find it, which is another chance) where to obtain the license. I just want to know before I install the download that I will be able to get a free / permanent license.
Bascially I am looking for someone who is using it (the "Community Developer Edition") and can tell me. But you are right, maybe I should ask Mario H. directly.

  • ColdFusion Developer stop functioning!

    Hello all,
Yesterday, I installed ColdFusion Developer Edition and it
was working fine for about a hour. Then, suddenly it completely
stopped working. I know the code is correct because I uploaded my
document to a remote server with ColdFusion support and everything
    worked correctly.
All I'm doing is simply defining a variable with
<cfset> and calling it with <cfoutput>, and for
whatever reason the ColdFusion server is now it seems like the code
is never even getting to the ColdFusion server because when I look
at the "view > source" in internet explorer, the <cf> tags
appear for the client to see.
What might have caused ColdFusion to stop functioning all of
a sudden? How can I get it working again? I have already tried
uninstalling, and reinstalling, and installing the MX 7.2 update,
and it still isn't working. Is there some way to reset everything
within ColdFusion? I'm basically at a loss here, any help would be
    greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Brian

whooopsies! I figured out what I was doing wrong. Noob
mistake -- rather than browsing to my files using
    http://localhost:portnumber/directory
.... I was trying to just right click on my .cfm files on my hard
drive and open them in my browser....
    C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\examples\variables_form.cfm -- in which case,
obviously the browser didn't know to route the files to the port of
the ColdFusion server, and thus wasn't compiling the code...

    Hello,
Its highly unlikely that this could have happened.Anyways as Olaf said licensing is completely different from technical part and we I have no experience with licensing and its knit bits  .Probably it comes under legal part.So instead of we giving any
tentative answer as per our surrounding and infrastructure ,won't always be applicable to you.In my firm we have volume licensing which is not your case .
Anyhow just wait may be some MSFT CSG guys can reply more clearly on it or someone from Microsoft .But i am sure they will ask you to get in touch with local MS licensing
