Coldfusion MX Verity Search Term With Hyphen

We are using verity to create and search collections. The text in the collections includes words with a hyphen (patient-centered) but when searching on patient-centered we don't find any results.
Is there a way to search on words with hyphens?

The application is on CF MX (version 6). Unfortunately, I cannot upgrade it to CF 8 (due to client's funding).
If you go to www.fmdrl.org and search on South-Paul (author's last name) you won't get any results (though you should). Search on South Paul (no hyphen) and you will get results.

PDF search for term with space yields term with hyphen

Hi,
I've encountered what seems to be an unpleasant problem in PDF searches, and am wondering whether it's known or has a solution.
In words, the problem is that when I perform a PDF search for a term with a space I get results for the term with a hyphen substituted for the space.
Example: If I open this PDF (technical document from Freescale Semiconductor), and search for the term
D cache
I expect to find occurrences of the term "D cache", space and all. The term is in fact not in the PDF -- but the PDF search reports several instances found. Trouble is, the term it finds is
D-cache
This is unexpected, because a space is not the same as a hyphen. And this causes me problems, because I can't search for the space-separated term without hitting "false positives".
I've tried this on Acrobat 9 Professional, Reader 9, and Acrobat 10 Professional, on Windows XP and Windows 7, using both quick search and advanced search with all possible permutations of options. The result is nonetheless the same.
If you know of a solution to this problem, I would appreciate it if you shared it. Thank you!

Searching contact with hyphen doesn't work

If i try to search a contact with hyphen in the name or first name, i cannot find the contact if i search with the text just behind the hyphen.
Is it a known bug ?
Example : "Dupont Jean-Marc" cannot be found with Marc !!!

I just checked my version of OS, and it is Mac OS X 10.7.1
is there any problem with it to use searching?

Tag Cloud to show search terms with zero results

I have been following the blue print document that we have regarding our OEID system which is under development at present.
We have a field called Search Terms which contains the text the user or the navigation has searched for. At present we have a tag cloud that shows the most popular. We also need to show the ones which are at the top of the "yeild zero results" list.
Looking at the Tag Cloud component and after reading the documentation on the tag cloud, it would not seem possible to create an EQL query to do this. Therefore would I have to create a custom attribute when I'm parsing our raw data to do this, then be able to display the 30 or so most popular search terms that yeild zero results, or is there a better way of doing this?

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Issue with ENEQuery java api and searching terms with accented characters

Hi,
we are using ENEQuery to query the mdex engine. When search terms contain accented characters (like á,í etc), even though the terms are decoded (using java.net.URLDecoder), the term gets send to dgraph is encoded. for e.g a search for "sofá", from the dgraph logs "sof%c3%a1" and fetch in 0 results

Hi,
Does your indexed data (which you hope to match) contain "sofá" or "sofa" (no diacritic)? If the latter, and in-general, you may benefit from the dgidx flag --diacritic-folding* as described in documentation "Mapping accented characters to unaccented characters". If you are running the latest version, this is all that should be required to generate a match.

Verity search engine security

I am wondering if there are any security risks with submitting a form entered search and the <cfsearch tag? Currently I'm filtering to allow only alphanumeric characters plus one or two others, but presumably if characters such as angle brackets < > have special meaning to the search engine it is not possible to inject malicious code?
Any help with this and guidance as to where there is a concise explanation of Verity search criteria with examples would be most welcome.

My internal search term instances are lower than in Google Analytics

Which doesn't make sense because Google Analytics are case sensitive and use unique searches, so it seems like SiteCatalyst would be more.
Case sensitive - doesn't SiteCatalyst combine all instances of search terms with different cases, so "cancel" would include "cancel," "CANCEL", and 'Cancel." But yet, SiteCatalyst # for 'cancel' is still lower than Google Analytics # is for 'cancel' (not even including all other different case versions).
Unique Searches - Google Analytics excludes duplicate searches within a single visit. So wouldn't SiteCatalyst 'visits' # match Google Analytics unique searches #? But it doesn't - GA # is always more.

How to start Verity Search Service in Coldfusion with JBoSS on LINUX OS?

Hi,
On Windows, you may need to start the ColdFusion Search Server from the services control panel.
On Unix, you may need to run the search startup script in the ColdFusion bin directory.
The above is the error message we are getting it when we run Verity Search code.
The code which is actually working fine in Windows(Local Environment).
Its not working in our Client System, the configuration is Coldfusion 9.0 with JBoss installation on LINUX Operating System.
Your help is highly appreciated.

In case you need to update additional fragments just search in trn code SE37 for BAPI_BUPA_*CREATE.
For example BAPI_BUPA_FRG0040_CREATE - Create classification data for BP , etc'.
Additional you can use XIF :CRMXIF_PARTNER_SAVE to create business partners

HELP with Verity searching

I have a Verity collection and I am searching it
successfully. HOWEVER, I have three custom fields that I am using
as part of the index for each file. I am noticing that by default
Verity is NOT searching these custom fields. I figured out that for
the criteria parameter of cfsearch I can do this:

This will indeed search the custom fields, but only using
simple search terms like "web" or "web development" or "web AND
development".
As soon as I try to use more of the other Verity searches
like "web <near> development" or "<case> CIA", it
throws an error. How can I make it so I can search the custom
fields but also allow the user to use Verity's more powerful search
terms?

}I generate a string of about 3 million random characters in is. Stuff the string "j_a_v_a" into the middle and then use good old indexOf() to find it. I repeat the search a thousand times, printing crap out to the console each time through the loop and this process easily runs in 10 seconds. This means it takes less than a hundredth of a second to do a single find (on my box - millage may vary).
Now I know that that a hundredth of a second is WAY slower than it could be. But exactly why do you need it to be way faster than that? Do you need it to be faster so bad that you need to actually bring in the consultants, ask about algorithms, write a bunch o' code, test it out and document it?
Remember the quote about premature optimization being the root of all evil?
Well, it is. You should not be writing the fast algorithm until you have first written the butt simple code to see how slow it is, and if you did write that code, you should have posted it, or clocked it and told us how slow it was and given us some indication of why and how much faster it needed to be.

Hello Hung,
SD_CUSTOMER_MAINTAIN_ALL is used in standard during the maintenance of a consumer using the standard customer master data transaction XD01 & XD02.
It is not intended to be used out of the transaction and in no case it should be used out of its original context. Due to the specificity of the function module, out of the original context we may face limitations and data inconsistencies.
For the maintenance of customers, there is NO BAPI and NO direct function module.
There are some functions modules like the one above where the name is looking nice. But these should not be used.
Below ECC 2005 (6.00), the only solution was batch input and DEBMAS idocs. See [note 384462|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/384462]
Starting with ECC 2005 (6.00) and above: a synchronisation tool has been introduce. See class CMD_EI_API and VMD_EI_API

URL to launch iTMS on the iPhone with search terms?

I'm trying to launch App Store on the iPhone (from an email, for example) with a URL that will bring up everything related to a search term. For example, the URL:

launches iTunes on a laptop/desktop computer showing all the related golf applications, songs, etc., but it doesn't do the same on the iPhone App Store. This URL:

Actually, it looks like the URLs are opening up iTunes and NOT the App Store on the iPhone, so I'm looking for a URL that opens up the App Store with the search terms...

I am having a big problem with entering search terms in Google

Here is the problem. I enter several search terms and do a search. So far, so good.
After I am finished clicking on one or more links I return to the Google search page to do a new search.
Since most of the words are the same, except the last one or two, I backspace over the old words and start entering the new ones.
Then very strange things happen much of the time.
1. It may restore the old words (the ones I already backspaced over and erased) and put my new words behind the old ones.
2. It may just restore the old words, that had been backspaced over, completely removing the new words I had just typed in.
Any ideas why this keeps happening? Is it Google or Firefox causing the problem?
It seems very strange that words that had been backspaced over (erased) magically reappear as if I hadn't removed them.

Verity search ranking

Hi,
I've been playing around with verity and was wondering if
there is a way to modify the way verity does its ranking.
Say I'm looking for Foo Bar, but I'd like to include those
with just Foo and those with just Bar, but those should be right at
the end (low score). How can I achieve this?
Using OR will give documents with Foo, documents with Bar,
and documents with both Foo and Bar the same score (0.7967). And if
I do an ANDed search I only get the last one (which I'd expect). Is
there a way express my request better, or configure verity to index
around my own personal taste.
Search Term:
Foo Bar
Order I'd like:
documents with both Foo and Bar (score ~1.0)
documents with just Foo (score ~0.5)
documents with just Bar (score ~0.5)

In my understanding enterprise can index 1 location. That can
either be the localhost or another server. Not both. If it is on
another server you must install verity from the Coldfusion disc.
Then in the admin look under "Data & Services" -> Verity K2
Server to set the server name.
I am unsure if this can be done with standard edition.
