Collect BPM clarification

I have a question for someone who has worked on this scenario before.
In my IDoc => XI => File scenario, I collect IDoc in a message list and pass this for transformation (n:1)
Does the IDoc in the collect list look
A.
<IDOCTYP>
<IDOC>...</IDOC>
<IDOC>...</IDOC>
</IDOCTYP>
or
B.
<IDOCTYP>
<IDOC>...</IDOC>
<IDOCTYP>
<IDOCTYP>
<IDOC>...</IDOC>
</IDOCTYP>
<IDOCTYP>
<IDOC>...</IDOC>
</IDOCTYP>
Can one of you tell me which is right.
I'm a bit confused, in interface mapping I have IDocType as 0..unbounded which I need for multiline occurance and in my message mapping, after importing IDocType.xsd, I have IDoc as 0..unbounded. Not sure whether I'm doing this right.
Thank you,
Parimala

Hi,
The Multi-line container with the collected Idocs will look like this for e.g.:
<ns2:Messages xmlns:ns2="http://sap.com/xi/XI/SplitAndMerge">
<ns2:Message1>
<Orders>
<Idoc>
</Idoc>
</orders>
<Orders>
<Idoc>
</Idoc>
</orders>
</ns2:Message1>
</ns2:Messages>

  • Collect BPM - Start process and correlation in one Receiver

    I'm using collect pattern based on timeout. Somehow in my infinite loop, in the receive step, I cannot combine "start process" with creating correlation and using it. All in the same receiver. When I try to activate my BPM, in the processing log I get, "start process" trigger removed.
    Can someone throw any light on this....I've being trying this for over few hours now. I cannot get start process and correlation in one receiver. I must be doing something wrong.
    Even the copied BPMCollectPattern removes the start process from the receiver.
    thank you,
    Pam
    Additional info:
    The first message received starts the process within an infinite loop and activates the correlation "Correlation" by using IDoc message tyoe. Each subsequent message uses this correlation. The messages are received in the container element CollectMessage.In the loop the received messages are attached to the multiline container element CollectMessageList.

    Hi,
    We are also in SP12. So start process is not a problem, because you are getting an Information saying that "start trigger removed" right? It is not an error.
    Are you getting this eror "expression must not return multiline value" after your complete Integration Process desgin ? If So...
    I think you are getting this error in Transformation Step where you are doing N:1 mapping. In this step you are mentioning Interface mapping right? Once you mention Interface Mapping in Transformation step you need to give Source Message Structure as well as Target Message Structure. According to my understanding you are getting error here. You can check these errors, while design time itself. If your entries are showing with Red Border then it is understood that there is an error.
    So if error is here then I think you need to check your N:1 Mapping. In this mapping your Source side Messages should be 0...unbounded. Similarly in Interface Mapping also. Just check for Source Message Occurences...
    I think it will solve your problem.
    Thanks,
    Moorthy

    I can see the Communication Channel in the monitor green.
    Any ideas to find the problem
    thanks,

    I tried changing the communication channel as suggested with no further success. I have viewed the LogViewer on the server in cluster->server->logs defaultTrace.trc and com.sap.xi -> xi.log with no more information available.
    So is it that I cannot do a simple XML send to file receiver and leave its content unchanged?
    My test message payload was of the order

    On testing from the Integration Engine it reaches the Adapter Engine and reports the error as stated in my first post.

    Now I have been reading all the documentation available and forum questions in this area but there is a lot of information but not quite for what I am currently trying to do. I need to preserve the xml file as xml for further processing. This is just a resting place for the file as I am trying to cut down a long running (over a day) collect BPM scenario by collecting the files in the directory then triggering the collect scenario to read in the files from this directory and perform all the processing and mapping in one chunk of short time. (But that is another story)
    Any more suggestions appreciated could the SAPCallAdapter not be where I think it is? Does my directory and filename case have to be exact lower and upper case. (I will test this tomorrow)...and let you know if any difference and continue to read the links put on by the other person who answered.
    thanks,

  • IDoc packing with PI 7.1 EHP1

    Hello,
    how does IDoc packing (EHP1) work within a IDoc sender channel? Has anybody already tried it? Can I simply recieve "collected" IDoc from ECC (e.g. invoic IDocs) which are not splitted by IDoc adapter? So that I do not have to use a collect BPM any more?
    Thanks!
    Christoph

    > that means I have to "create" an IDoc sender channel to receive IDocs from ECC? How can I define whether IDocs should be received via this IDoc sender channel or via the "standard" IDoc adapter?
    >
    Yes, you do have to create an IDOC sender channel.  The IDOC packaging option in the CC distinguishs a standard idoc channel from idoc channel with packaging.
    > How to define the IDoc package size when I don't know how many IDocs will be sent from ECC to PI?

  • How to debug correlation?

    Hi,
    the correlation I've set up doesn't seems to working, although I've done everything by the book.
    How can I debug the BPEL process to learn what happens with the correlation?
    I've looked at the visualisation of process in the EM console in debug mode, but there is nothing useful about correlation. I've also tried to set up a TCP tunel, but that doesn't give me useful info why the correlation doesn't work. I was also trying to log the bpex:property via ora:getPrefference, but obviosly that method returns the other properties defined in composite.xml, not the bpex:property.
    How can I debug it?

  • Performance Metrics for PI

    We are running PI 7.0 on SP10 and we are having a few problems in XI. This was quite a straight forward scenario IDOC to XI to File. We have a 10 min collection BPM in between and all messages within that 10 min interval write into one file as a single message. When 1200 IDOCS were pumped in through the system, PI came to its knees. It could only process these in 2 (two) hours. In spite of the fact that we have 16 GB of memory, for some reason BASIS has configured only one JVM node. We changed the entire processing by writing into an output file in an append mode for 10 mins each and there was no perceptible difference in performance at all. We tried converting the IDOCs to xml files so that it became a file to file scenario to get some performance stats. Not much difference. Does anybody in the community have any benchmark metrics figures for different kind of systems and scenarios? These are all in SUN Solaris systems.
    We have another interface coming up where we have to handle 10 million DB records from a source file, process them and load them to MDM database. Anybody has any figures on MDM and PI? Would greatly appreciate any help.

    Hi,
    there should be no difference in performance because both products share the very same kernel.
    Of course, EE has features like partitioning which make a huge difference when they are used.
    So the answer clearly depends...

  • BPM Idoc collection without calling the mapping in BPM

    Hi Expert,
    I have an IDOC to file scenario in which source side I have to collect multiple IDOC and map it to a single file .I am achieving it through BPM . at present I am using one multimapping and calling this mapping in the BPM under transformation step its working  fine  but due to some constraint  , Now I want to achieve it using BPM but without calling the Mapping in the BPM i.e I don't want to use Transformation step in the BPM. Is it possible ????
    Regards,
    Saurabh

    Hi Saurabh,
    If that is the case it is preferable to collect the IDocs in ECC and then send them to XI at one go.
    Cheers !

  • Interface Mappings in BPM Collect Pattern

    Hello
    I am new to XI development and currently facing problems while implementing collect pattern of BPM.
    I am trying to map IDoc structure with target legacy format.In BPM I had a block with infinite loop where I am transforming IDocs to target legacy format.Then I am trying to transform list element (Multiline Abstract container variable) to form a single message.For this I tried to have interface map with Occurences 0..unbound..but while activation of Interface Map it gives error
    <b> Mapping program Message does not match the interface mapping. The number or frequencies of source or target messages for the message mapping are not identical to the number or frequencies of source or target interfaces.</b>
    If I use single line in Interface map then in BPM it gives error when passed Multiline element to this Interface map.
    I checked the sample program provided by SAP but I found out that every message interface was using same Message Type which has got occurence as 1 but in the message mapping program its 0..unbound.
    My question is can we have data type (or Message type )with Occurence as 1 and Message Mapping program using same message type with occurences 0..unbound..I tried to find such option but could'nt find that.Otherwise how to do Interface Map for transforming Multiline parameter of BPM to a single message.
    Please help..Thanks in advance..

  • Problem in BPM Collect scenario

    Hi,
    I am implementing a collect scenario of BPM in which I am collecting Acccount details of a customer and posting them to receiver.
    In Receiver Determination, I have two objects, one with Sender system and BPM process and other with BPM process as sender and Receiver System.
    However, when scenario is run, in SXMB_MONI I see success flag for the processgin of message with Tilted green flag in column C stating that "Message Scheduled at the outbound End." I am not able to understand the meaning of this message.
    I have checked queues; there are no queues with any messages stuck. Also, because there is no error in the processing of message, I am not able to check the point in BPM till where processing was successful.
    Kindly let me know where I can go and check for possible causes of errors. Also, let me know if BPM process could be debugged at runtime.
    Thanks and regards,
    Bhavish Bhatia

    to check the successful point of execution of the bpm u need to follow thru the grpahical workflow log which can be found either in the transaction sxmb_moni_bpe or traverse by clicking on the PE column.

  • BPM Collect Pattern: N:1 Mapping error in trnsformation step

    Dear All,
    I am using collect pattern Payload Dependant.
    I have one source data type and one target data type. Mapping is one to one.
    Data type contains 3 fields, Value Name and Surname.
    In Loop I have used condition when Counter is equal to value stop the loop.
    I have used Transformation step as I am using N:1 mapping.
    I have used abastrct to abastract message mapping.
    Source message is 0 to unbounded.
    In interface mapping target message occourance is 1. But in mapping program target message occourance is 0 to unbounded.
    When I am running my scenario, Third party to IP is working fine. But in IP i am getting error in transformation step.
    "com.sap.aii.utilxi.misc.api.BaseRuntimeException: RuntimeException in Message-Mapping transformation: Cannot produce target element /ns0:Messages/ns0:Message1/ns1:Collect_Receiver_MT. Check xml instance is valid for source xsd and target-field mapping fulfills requirements of target xsd at com.sap.aii.mappingtool.tf3.AMappingProgram.start"
    Can anybody will help me to solve this problem?
    Warm Regards,
    Gouri

  • BPM collect message

    Hi All,
    I am doing a scenario for collecting messages using BPM, the objective was i need to collect the input messages and to be stored, when the message reaches 10, then it should deliver all these 10 messages to the target.
    for this, i have designed bpm with the
    1. Receiver Step
    2. Container Operation
    3. Transformation and Send.
    but i am getting the following error while activating
    Exptession must not return an multiline value
    Expression must return the interface type MI_OUT_A
    Expression must return the interface type MI_IN_A
    Container element var1 in step Receive1 is initialized but is not used.
    Here var1 is the abstract interface
    the datatype& message type  was DT_A and MT_A and the interfaces are MI_OUT_A and MI_IN_A.
    could anyone clarify regarding this issue..
    regards,
    Sai

  • BPm collect Message Check

    Hi,
    when i perform a check to standard BPM patterns BpmPatternCollectMessage. I get the following info am i wrong some where do any changes needed to be done.
    Container element stopmessage in step receive terminating message is initialized but not used
    Container element collectmessage in step *receive * message is initialized but not used...
    kindly help

    I did the above scenario as told.
    It is a bpm message dependent scenario. It keeps collecting messages till a particular message is received.
    I more or less used the message dependent pattern given in SAP BASIS.
    The data types are as follows.
    Dt_In
         Name
         OverallID
    Dt_In
         Name
        OverallID
    1 to 1 mapping
    I used the OverallId for correlation. The receive step inside the infinte loop collects the messages with OverallID '1' while the receive step below collects messages with OverallId '2'.
    In the container elements i defined 2 separate message interfaces. One for OverallID '1' and the other for OverallID '2.  The 2 message interfaces have the same Message type. Only values will be different.
    For the parallel fork step i have given end condition OverallID = 2.
    When i execute the scenario the messages are all comingin a queue. The status is wait for event.
    What could be the problem?
    Thanks

  • BPM: Issue with Collect Idocs in Production which is used to work in Test.

    Hi,
    We are using BPM for our interface to collect the idocs,
    - Header Idoc will consists of number of bundles of Detail idocs.
    - Each bundle consists of 100 Details Idocs..
    We used packet size as 100 in ECC partner profile and Idoc package as 100 in Sender Idoc adapter in PI.
    Example for 103 idocs,
    header idoc will send count as 2 (100 and 3).
    Detail Idocs will come in two 2 bundles(2 message ids), with 100 in one message id and 3 in another message id.
    we used BPM to collect all the detail idocs before mapping to final target message.
    The interface is working fine in our test system, but it is not working in production.
    The interface is working fine for the idocs less than 100. Problem is only when the count is more than 100.
    We compared BPM in both test and production and we didn't find any difference in the process steps.
    Anyone has any idea what might be wrong ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Deepthi.

    Mapping problem which is cleared now.

  • Mapping in BPM - set value of collection item

    Hello,
    is it possible to set value to exact item of collection in mapping step in netweaver BPM?
    I need something like set(<collection_variable>,<item_index>,<item_value>)  - so exact opposite of GET generic function, which gets specific item from collection.
    Is it possible in NW BPM?

    You dont have to apologize. I didnt meant that as offend.
    I appreciate the possibility to discuss that topic with somebody, because discussion itself sometimes shows other perspective to the problem, which can lead to solution
    Of course I wrote EJB function to solve that - but I cant believe that it isnt standard solution to that pretty common use case.
    I think, that problem lays in very limited implementation of XPath into Netweaver BPM. I will bet my left hand, that in some future SP of BPM will SAP introduce something like this:
    myCollection[1]/notificationId = notificationId
    which is standard XPath way to do that

  • BPM Collect -Query

    Hi All,
    I have BPM to collect the Idoc from SAP and send it.
    I have a condtion in the loop for collecting 50 Idocs and sending to the traget system.
    The scenario works fine If I receive the 100 Idocs, it will execute two send steps. If the number of Idcos is not a multiple of "50". then BPM needs to wait for the next batch of Idocs to process further, until the loop condtion triggers.
    Can we have any steps in BPM which will address the below 2 requirments:
    1. BPM should collect the 50 messages are sent it.
    2 If the number of messages are not reached 50 after a period of time then also trigger the collected messages out.
    Regards,
    Sunil.

    Did you check if combination of Payload & Time-Dependent pattern helps you?

    Having the payload-dependent loop in a block with Deadline branch may solve your problem.....my understanding
