Can we receive collect calls on our Verizon wireless phones from a jail

Not like a normal collect call would be made, but there are 3rd party services that can help with a workaround. Check these guys out, for example

  • Cache voluntary garbage collection called

We have installed Oracle Web Cache 2.0.0.4.0 on Windows 2000. We setup the Maximum cache size parameter to 1000Mb, but, when we try to caching a web using WGET, Oracle Web Cache return a "cache voluntary garbage collection called" in the file of log: "event_log".
    What is the problem?

The message you're seeing in the event log isn't necessarily a problem. The cache has a voluntary garbage collection mechanism that "wakes up" periodically, checks to see if the system is sufficiently idle, and begins to clear out garbage (invalidated/expired) files. This is different from "forced garbage collection", which occurs when the cache nears its maximum size.
Are you able to cache content? Are you seeing responses served out of the cache?
I would strongly advise you to upgrade to release 9.0.2, available for download on OTN. There is also a migration tool there for moving from 2.0.0.x to 9.0.2.x. After you've migrated, you can optionally apply the 9.0.2.1 patch set, available on Metalink.

  • Blocking incoming collect calls in the voice gateway

    Hello
I am using a C3825 router and I want to block incoming collect calls. I tried the command "double-answer" under cas-custom but it is not working. Does anyone have an alternative? I am using an E1 R2 digital.
    Thank you
    Marcos

    Jonathad,
OP is not in the US, and does not have ISDN, has E1 R2 instead
E1 R2 has a method to block collect calls called double-answer. This method is supported and documented by Cisco.
But for some reason it doesn't work for OP.
In these case, it is necessary to involve an experienced consultant, if not TAC escalation directly.

  • Blocking incoming collect calls

    Hi,
This was asked by one of my students. Can anyone help answer it?
"I  would like to block incoming collect calls in the voice gateway,
but  I'm using R2 digital E1. I need to check the destinations numbers, and  depends of the number, It’ll accept or reject the collect calls.
On  the last PVT of Unified communications in Brazil, some people commented  of to do this block do with TCL scripts with Double-Answer, but I don’t  know much about TCL script."
    Thanks, Janine

    Janine,
if i understand your requirement correctly..you can reject the call using translation rule and mapping to dial-peer.
    Reject call on voice router
    voice translation-rule 100
    rule 1 reject /xxxxxxxxxx/
    voice translation-profile reject
    translate calling 100
    voice-port x/x/x:23
    translation-profile incoming reject
First, create a translation rule that will identify the incoming call:
    voice translation-rule 100
    rule 1 reject /2124290000/
    rule 2 reject /4089988472/
    voice translation-profile call_block_profile
    translate calling 100
    dial-peer voice 111 pots
    incoming called-number .
    call-block translation-profile incoming call_block_profile
    call-block disconnect-cause incoming invalid_number
Then place that translation profile into your inbound dial-peer. It you don't have one defined, create one using the incoming called-number dial-peer command, as so:
The call-block command allows the gateway to give a disconnect message rather than just a fast busy.

  • How do I enable the receipt of collect calls on my phone?

I am trying to set up my phone to where it will let my kids call collect if they need to. Does anyone know how to do this?

as far as i know cell phones cannot accept collect calls irregardless of carrier.  If you want them to always be able to get ahold of you you could give them cellphones.

  • Receiving collect calls from a jail facility

Can my online # receive collect from an jail facility? Also, if I can how do I set that up?

    Dear Readers,
As my colleague, Norman, replied above: collect calls cannot be received on a Skype Number.  Therefore, there is no way to set this up.

  • Intrusive Collection Call On A Holiday!

It's Labor Day 2014 and the Verizon Collections team is hard at work making annoying calls to long-time customers with an equally long-time history of on-time payments.  Instead of wasting their time harassing people on a Holiday, one would think that Verizon could wait until the next business day to see that payments have been made and the account has a zero balance.  Incredibly poor customer relations move.

Once your bill is late you are subject to collection calls and it doesn't matter that today is a holiday.

  • Collecting Caller Inputs - best way to handle this?

    Greetings,
My apologies in advance, I'm sure this has been asked before and I did try the search function.
So we have a need to collect, and report on, caller inputs on a couple of menus. For example - one menu offers three options, and based on your choice you could go to another menu with five options, etc. And we're trying to get a handle on the best way to collect and report on callers inputs at the various levels. We know UCCX comes with ten custom variables however, if we have custom variables doing other things can we reuse them? Or, once they are designated to do something are they no longer available?
Would it be best to use a log file of some kind/type?
If there are posts (somewhere) discussing this, a link would be spectacular.
For those of you who have dealt with this your insights would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time and attention!

  • Billed by another provider for collect calls accepted from my Verizon landline

We accepted two brief (under 3 Minutes) emergency collect phone calls from a family member to our Verizon landline,  We were billed $39.36 for them by a "provider" called ILD.  I called Verizon and  a representative said there is nothing they can do and to call ILD.  I called ILD and they offered an $11.00 "discount" which I told them was unacceptable.  They told me to call Verizon back, which I am not going to do right now because each phone call involved substantial time to get through automated message handling systems and finally get an actual person to talk with.
I was frustrated with Verizon to begin with because of their outrageously high charges, constant increases, complicated bills and terrible customer service.  Tomorrow, I will do one or all of the things below:
    (1) Contact consumer affairs and government agencies who may be able to help me.
    (2) Cancel my current Verizon phone and internet service completely.
    (3) Never deal with Verizon again for any type of services and advise friends/relatives to do the same.
I made a partial payment of $100 on my bill.  This covers all Verizon services and $10 towards ILD charges, which is all I am willing to pay.

  • Verizon Wireless Collections calling !

Hey everyone. I am new to the board, but have been a verizonwireless customer for about ten years and do not plan on leaving. I am very happy with them. I do have a question though. My last bill was late and the new bill has come out. The day after it came out i started receiving calls from a number that was an automated Verizon recording stating i need to pay my past due amount  or i will no longer have service. I completely understand this. However, money is very tight and i was furloughed for a few weeks. The TOTAL BILL (last month and this current bill) is due on December 16th. Now, I can pay the bill December 10th. THe bill has been late in the past and i have never gotten any calls and no problem with service being suspended. If I pay the amount Due the 10th will service be ok?
I am just asking as I have never had the problem before and wonder how long you have before service is suspended on your phone.  And yes I understand they deserve their money, etc.
    Thanks for your help.
    A loyal verizon customer.

Verizon requires its customers to pay in advance for their service.  This means that you need to pay your bill before your next billing cycle starts or your service can be suspended.  Generally, your bill due date is a few days to a week before your next cycle starts, this gives you a little time where you can be late, but your service will not be disconnected.
For example, my bill is due on the 5th, and my cycle starts on the 12th.  If I pay on the 6th, my bill is late, and I may owe a late fee, but my service will probably not be disconnected.  If I don't pay by the 12th, it almost certainly WILL be disconnected.
You should call Verizon BEFORE the due date and inform them of the late payment and try to work out a payment plan if needed.  You can inform them by dialing #PMT from your phone, but should call *611 to speak to someone in Billing if you need to set up a payment plan.
